All right, y'. All, Today is a day we're going to do a client spotlight. I am getting the best feedback. You guys like hearing how people are actually using this information in their lives with the Enneagram because it's very cool, it's very trendy. A lot of you have drink the Kool Aid and you love it, and it's cool to learn more about ourselves. But if you don't know what to do with this information, it kind of is like those really, really great, expensive power tools sitting in your garage, making your garage look really pretty, but you don't know how to use them, and they're very expensive. Right? And the Enneagram is a beautiful power tool, but a lot of you don't know how to use it. And so bringing you clients spotlights is what you all have been asking for, because you want to hear how all the different types, even if it isn't like yourself, if. Even if it isn't your type, you are learning a lot about maybe people that you love and people that you lead. And Today's guest is Dr. Valerie Gettings. And she was one of the beautiful souls that was in the let's get down to Business program that I did with my dear friend Tiffany Carter. And before she even signed up to do that, her and I had been dialoguing back and forth through the DMs. You found Tiffany first, though, right? I did, and I was kind of the byproduct of that. And it's like one of those moments, she's like, oh, shit, I was meant to work with you. And we have a lot in common, a lot more than I even would like. You know how, like, you judge a book by its cover sometimes. Like, the story behind this beautiful woman you would never guess has the same story in a lot of ways that I did. And, you know, we're in the same Decade of age range. And so it had been a huge pleasure working with her through that program. And then she did a typing session with me as well, because one of the things that happens so often, and this happens to a lot of you, you're into the Enneagram, you hear about sounds intriguing and, like, wow. You hear how people are using it to change their lives and their businesses.
And.
And so then you go online and you take an assessment, right? And a lot of you just find, you know, a free one, which is fine. And some of you dig a little deeper, like I did, and get a paid one. And I want you to know that 65 to 70% of the time, they are inaccurate, including Dr. Valerie's. Yeah. She was listed in her assessment as an enneagram 5. And although with her career, like, it made a little sense why that might be the case. Right? She's a doctor. They like to research things. Her assessment definitely had the five as the top in it. And she is an actual Enneagram 7, y'.
All.
And that was her top three. That was number three on the Enneagram assessment, the paid one. So I want you guys to know that being typed properly is really, really important to use this beautiful tool. Because although she saw some things like, yeah, that makes sense. That makes sense. It wasn't landing. And then it kind of takes like, oh, this isn't working for me, like it does other people. Right. And I know a lot of you might be feeling that way. So this conversation will open your eyes to the process of how to get typed properly and why it's so important and the breakthroughs that can happen. We just did our typing session a month ago, and I can't wait to Hear all the AHAs over the last month. So welcome, Dr. Valerie.
Thank you so much for having me. I'm so excited to be doing this with you, and I'm deeply honored that you asked me to be on your podcast. Tracy.
I love, like, when I find somebody that's so honest, open, and willing, which we talked a lot about in the let's get down to Business program. I just think more people need to hear that, because a lot of us come to the table like, yeah, I'm willing to do whatever it takes, and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And then we get into it, we're like, yeah, but not that, but not that, but not that. And somebody as educated as you and has so much life experience as you do, the fact that you completely were surrendering to the process that I was putting you through, these are the most coachable people. I freaking love it. And I think more people need to hear what that really looks like. So it's absolutely like it was a no brainer when I was talking to you. I'm like, oh my gosh, this girl's awesome. She also is a very brand new, like two days ago Arizona resident. She also has a rescue pity. So we have that in common. And we have another thing in common which we may or may not get into. And it'll be really, really powerful. And I think that's kind of what connected us. It's like I spoke a language that she recognized and there it was. So why, why did you want to get typed with me? You know, you'd already been working with me for a few weeks at that point. What was it about? It said, you know what I want to know.
That is an excellent question, I think because I've done so many different types of the Myers Briggs test. I've done, you know, different types of healing. I've done different types of coaching. So I saw the power in the enneagram and I was like, oh, this is a different tool that I can use for business, for personal life, for everything really in life. And I wanted to know more. I wanted to find out exactly how maybe there was a tool that I was missing that I could use to function even better. So that was one of the reasons why.
What was it about the five when that came up on the assessments you had taken and even the one that I had you take what about? And you all are going to understand in a second how the 7 and 5 are connected, which is so beautiful. But what was it about the five that did connect and what didn't connect when you saw that?
So the five, for my understanding, is the investigator. So that one is. I'm really good at assessing and analyzing, coming up with different solutions, strategy, structures, and also emotionally detaching. What was not resonating with me so much was how I can use that in all of my life because it only kind of targeted part of my life. I'm like, yes, I can identify with that sort of. But it didn't really. I was like, that's what I kept saying to you. I was like, something is missing. There's something missing where this is only looking at my life through one lens and I'm not able to use this tool throughout my life. I'm like, this is. Something's missing. So that I was like, let me find out what this is.
I think as women, specifically, we're so Good at compartmentalizing our lives and multitasking where that makes. I think women, honestly, are more mistyped than men, too. In my journeys and doing hundreds and hundreds of these, a lot of times the men are typed properly. Properly, because they're just, like, not as compartmentalized as women are. And I think women, you know, just naturally wear so many different hats. Right. That emotional detachment. And this is why fives, believe it or not, like you would think, this enthusiast, this innovated visionary, and the investigator, like, how can that be, like, intertwined? Right. But both of them have a core motive of a need for certainty. Right? But the certainty that they need need are very, very different. The five needs to have certainty that, you know, they'll be equipped and capable and have enough resources. The seven needs certainty that they're never going to be trapped or stuck in a situation. So that emotional detachment actually happens for both of them, but for very, very different reasons. And so I can see why that can happen from time to time. And. And in the work that you do and have done previously before becoming a doctor, it makes total sense why that fit the bill for certain parts of your life, but maybe not all of them. So in our typing session, we, you know, went through a whole gamut of questioning, and lots of juicy stuff came out. And in typing sessions that I typically do, if this is something that you really want to dive into, you know, any online assessment doesn't take into account the instinctual way that you respond to life, some of the coping mechanisms that you have built along the way, which gives you reasoning why 65 to 70% of the time, these are inaccurate. And so in our conversation, we determined, like, yeah, you're not an investigator, but you're actually, you know, this visionary, the enthusiastic visionary. What was the first aha moment? And when I was explaining it to you, why did it feel like, finally, I'm home? And, yes, this makes sense in all areas of my life.
Yes. So first, when you explained it, how the six. So my wings that I lean on. So that made the most sense to me, where the six is the troubleshooter, and then the eight is the executor. And those are two huge skills that I have. Or I was like, oh, this is what I do when I'm either in times of stress or I'm kind of shutting down, where I'll start to troubleshoot or execute. So those two things definitely made sense to me. And then another thing that when I had that aha moment, and I was like, oh, my gosh, this Makes complete sense, was the people that I was searching out. So when you told me that Tiffany is a six and you are an eight, I was like, oh, no wonder that just out of all of the chaos, all of the noise that I was hearing on the Internet and things like that through podcasts, I was like, okay, your voice and Tiffany's voice makes the most sense to me. When you told me why, I was like, oh, because I'm right in the middle. This is why I'm seeking out those strengths.
Yeah. And that's the thing about the wings. That is they're the unsung heroes in all of this, and it's not talked about enough. And actually, where all of our superpowers lay is in our wings. Because left to our own core type ways, we're going to stay stuck in what we know and what we're motivated by, and it's really hard to push into growth on our own. And so these superpower wings that we all have, depending on whatever core type you are, will determine what your wings are. Are. Most people lean heavy into one, and I can see where you would probably lean heavier into the eight in certain areas of your life, you know, in certain careers that you've had, and then others, the other one. Right. But the whole goal is to be able to use the strengths of both to encourage our core type into its most beautiful version of ourselves. And as that visionary and innovator, especially in the medical world, Lord fricking knows we need some innovation in how we heal our bodies. Right. And, you know, specifically do hormone and gut health at this point. Right?
Yep.
Like, thank God you're a seven. Like, thank God, like, no stupid ideas, anything's possible is what A7 believes. But, you know, sometimes their detachment from pain will have them kind of running in circles. And so using your wings specifically, so you've got the troubleshooting strategist on one side, and you got the let's fucking go part on the eight side of you. I love that how the five comes into play is really beautiful. And, you know, you and I have had conversations about my daughter that she's a seven, and I love sevens. You guys drive me crazy. And I learned the most from you. Like, you bring. You definitely allow me to lean into the parts of me that I had kept at bay for a long, long time. And how we're both connected to the five is beautiful. So a seven, when they're growing and really not all over the place, because you guys get a bad rap for being flighty, flaky not focused, all over the place. Right. And that, that innovative spirit. And a lot of that is your overactive brain wanting anything. Right. Like I said, you don't want to be trapped, so you want options all the time. Like you guys fall into the shiny object syndrome, probably more than any other type. Yeah. But you also do that in a way to avoid being stuck or in pain. Right. And that's sometimes where that unhealthy detachment of emotions come in. However, the growth number four, the seven, you know, the, the extroverted part of you, that's seven. When you guys really lean into birth a lot of these innovations and ideas and creativity and visions, it can only happen in a container of solitude. Because if you have all this noise around you, although you might be like excited by that, nothing can really be birthed in that. And so the growth number for y', all, for the seven, is the enneagram five. And so it's not surprising, especially with as much work as you have done over the last 20 years on yourself and in your career and emotionally and all of that, that. The top score, of course, is your growth number. You do know how to lean into that healthy five, that healthy investigator. It's like big visions. I have all these ideas, okay. We can't just go in hot and throw a bunch of crap up at the wall hoping something sticks. So going into that five investigator and detaching emotionally from what that looks like is your gift, you know, that's the holy grail. But in order to do that, you do need your 6 and 8 to make that happen.
Right?
Right. Because in your earlier part of life. Let's take them there for a second. You were a little bit all over the place. Yeah. So how was the, the, the seven in you unhealthy back before you became Dr. Val?
Back in the day when I was running all over the place, all over countries, ending up places, I was very, very. I was on a path to really self destruction and adventure all at the same time, and looking to anything to make me not feel anything and wherever that was. And that would just look like going and taking off and being very, very spontaneous, but kind of ending up in a lot of very dangerous situations. So that is more the unhealthy seven, but also what you were talking about, about not that feeling of not being trapped. I'm like, I just wanted to be like a chameleon. I wanted to be anything you really wanted me to be, which I think you talked about. That's why it's a little bit harder for women sometimes to be typed, because I would be the chameleon. And I didn't want to get. Have anybody get to know me, really all over the place, wearing a ton of different hats. So I was not trapped.
A lot of times with sevens, even though you love people, you do. You like being where the energy's at, right? But the thought of commitment sometimes, like that can trap you. And so, you know, now you see it, now you don't. And sometimes that can look a little like Houdini. And you guys just say you're adventurous and you are, and like, that's the beauty in the Enneagram is you will always have to run it through your filter, like before you do or say anything. And I have to do my own filter. Each Enneagram type has like the gatekeeper, right? And your gatekeeper to ask you, you know, the person at the gate is saying, okay, Valerie, am I doing this because this inspires me and this is exactly what I'm called to do and this is like vision, or am I doing this to run, to avoid, to move forward? And you know, as great as the Enneagram is and as great as the work I've done with you is like, I can't be honest for you. Right. And that's, you know, what we talked about a lot over our time together, is this the radical honesty with compassion for ourselves. Because you ran for a long, long time for a lot of really valid reasons. And we all do, right? And that's the thing, like when we look at these patterns that haven't served us well currently, they did serve us at one point in our life in a very, like, safe way. Right?
Yeah.
But in order to step into the next area of our life, we kind of have to leave some things behind that, that didn't work so well. So the stress number for the seven is the Enneagram one, which I like to call the sheriff. So picture this, this free spirit, like, yeah, I'm easy going, whatever, let's have some fun. All of a sudden feels like they're going to get trapped. Like they are going to be restricted from all their options. All of a sudden a seven turns into this rigid, black and white thinking, very critical, close minded person. Where has that happened for you? And like, where can you see that now? Like, all of a sudden, open minded, like, free for, for fun. Valerie all of a sudden is like, hell no, we won't go.
Yeah. So I definitely see that in my own life where if I have this vision and I have other people who Come in and they want to take control of the situation in a very, very critical way. It makes me get very, very rigid and feel like I just want to burn the house down. Like this is not going to work. And that's part of that rigid sense.
Yeah. What I noticed with sevens too, and like raising one, that is when that would set my daughter off too. And we come by it innocently. It's not that we're not taking you seriously, which is how that feels for you. Right. And I know probably early on in your life in this adventurous, free spirited people didn't always take you seriously because it's like, there she goes again, off to adventure. And you can kind of be a loose cannon. And when you're dealing with somebody like me or your husband, who we'll talk about in a second, my brain automatically, when I hear all the crazy, beautiful ideas, like crazy in all the beautiful ways ideas, automatically I start going, okay, how are we going to make that happen? How are we going to make that happen? How are we going to make that happen? And so I can often fire hose you with questions and interrupting you. And I'm like, well, wait a second, how's that going to happen? And that feels like dismissive. That can feel disrespectful to A7. And so, you know, if you love or lead A7, the best advice I can get you is sometimes they need to fire hose all the ideas out of them to get, get it out of their head. They don't expect all of it to happen and they don't expect us to fix it or strategize it for them. So if you see a 7 kind of going in that zone, just let them just, just like, I'm here for it, fire hose me. And I won't interrupt and I won't kind of like say poke holes in all of the ideas. Like this is their gift. They are visionaries, they are innovators. And when you have strategists or people like me who are like looking for the holes and things, you can really dim some of these beautiful things from coming to creation or they'll just bolt on you. Right.
So can I give it, can I give an example of that?
I would love that.
Yeah. So I had a former boss, came into a new department and this is when I was working for the military and she recognized my visionary strengths and she recognized how I can easily create systems. I was also a webmaster for the military, but she came to me on the second day and was like, I just want you to know, I'm not here to take anything from you. I want to support you. And that's all I needed to hear. To be like, okay, I can be a visionary and work with this person and want to give. Because you're right. As soon as you start to criticize and try to take apart things for the seven, it's damaging. And then they won't share all of their visions. Like, I create massive systems for, like, the military and for an international nonprofit, and I love doing that. But if you don't allow that person to do that, you're missing out on a huge opportunity.
That is probably. I've got goosebumps all over. That is probably the most important for those of you listening that are seven or, like, because as a seven, you need to be able to articulate, like, rewind right now and write what she just said down. Because it's so important for those people that love or lead you that don't understand this framework. What she just said in such a beautiful, elegant way is exactly what being a seven is all about. And when I understood that and I realized how unintentionally I was dimming the light of my own daughter and all her creativity and gifts for the world, I was like, oh, my gosh, never again. You know? And I was doing it from a loving place. I had no idea. I wasn't trying to make her me. Trust me, that's a shit show. But I also was like, I don't know how to, like, support that. And the only way I know how to support is poke holes and shit. And so once I understood this framework and I was like, oh, let her go. Like, yep, and support her and say, sounds amazing. Amazing, amazing. Now let's pick three. Let's pick three and make them happen. Let's put the other ones right here on the shelf. They're not going anywhere. You can always still do those. But let's pick three for here right now. And that is probably why you were drawn to Tiffany and I, because you do have so much that it can feel overwhelming for you. And when a 7 gets overwhelmed, it's almost like the tornado spin.
Yes, that's exactly how it is.
So over the last month, you've had the correct information of being a seven and understanding, you know, your wings and your growth number and stress numbers. What has the impact of integrating this over the last month? Like, what areas of your life do you notice it most? I know you're married, you got a practice, you moved across country.
Yeah. Literally the day that we did the typing session that night, after he told me about the wings, I just started implementing it immediately. And prior to that, my default was fight, flight, freeze. I was just like, I would just freeze. Kind of like the under the bush, like, don't let the prey come get me. So what I would do then is I would look at, okay, where can I troubleshoot and where can I execute? And I did that literally with everything to figure out how to pack my house, go across the country, establish a bunch of different systems in my business. And so I just kept relying on that, and that kind of became my motto after that session, which allowed me to move forward at a really rapid rate.
Say that again. Where do I troubleshoot and where do I execute? Or.
Yep, yep. Where do I troubleshoot or do I execute?
That's usually what I will tell Sevens, too. And I think you and I had this conversation. Like, for those of you that are a seven, it's like you just want to all the ideas all at once, throw it all up at the wall, hope it sticks. Right? And although that's beautiful creative energy, it isn't the most effective things. And you're not always taken seriously when you operate like that. Right. So what I'll usually tell a seven is, okay, all the crazy, beautiful ideas come out as a seven. We're not trying to cage that ever. Because seriously, we all, we need you in this world, Sevens. However, like, how we make this happen is really imperative. Right. And so what I'll usually tell a 7 is go to the 6 first. Let's check in with our supporting cast. Right. And your number one line of defense is the six, the one that will be the strategist and say, okay, that's a great idea. But what about this, this and this? What if this happens? What if this happens? And not in a dim your light, like, discount you kind of way. It's actually to reinforce the vision. Right?
Yeah. And one of the phrases that I use to troubleshoot is, where can I collect facts? How can I collect facts? And I learned this from my mentor, Stephanie Fogelson, who's amazing. And that's what she would say. It's like, okay, go collect facts. And that's something also that gets people out of fear. It's like, okay, we're not going to be fearful. We're just going to go collect some facts. That's what we're going to do.
That's the beauty of being a seven, too, because not only do you have the six wing, but your growth number is also five. So you have, like, the fact finder five plus the strategist troubleshooting six right there. But you got to know how and when to access them, which you are doing so beautifully. And so then once we've run it through the fact checkers. Right. The fact checkers don't always execute, though.
No.
Because they will continue to seek facts and facts that don't serve you. Like, you've got enough of the facts to, like, make something beautiful. And the seven, and you're like, yeah, it's a party. Let's go. But it's like sometimes the seven can kind of just not think things through or instinctually think, you know, instinctually kind of know all the time. They're just going off, like, the energy sometimes, which is awesome. However, not always super effective. So what I'll say is, okay, seven, check in with the supporting role of your six over here. Find the facts. Great. Now how are we going to make this shit happen? And so that's usually when I'll tell the seven. All right, check into your challenger over there. Not afraid of anything. They're not afraid of being trapped. They're not afraid of, like. In fact, they. They crave that intensity. So when the seven of you is like, yeah, I don't want to be committed or caged into this. You've got your eight wing saying, let's fucking go.
Yes, now is the time.
Yeah. And so how do you, like, know when to, like, okay, eight, I'm scared. Like, I feel like I'm going to be trapped. I feel like I'm going to be without options. Like, what does that eight in you, that eight wing have to say to you for you to be like, I'm all in.
After I've collect all the facts, the eight side is like, now is the time to execute. Go. Like, I have all the facts laid out in front of me and I can just see everything. I don't need any more information. And it's like, it's go time.
And so when the seven part of you wants to resist it because you know, not because you're afraid of, like, failing, because the sevens don't care if they fail, like, as long as it's exciting and fun and new, they're for it. But sometimes, you know, a seven will bail out of a situation before it's time because it's not as exciting as when it first started. And that. How do. How do you really lean on your eight wing to keep you in the game when you're like, yeah, I'm out.
One of the Things that kind of pops up is what if. I use a lot of like, what if statements, like, what if I succeed? What if I can create a massive system and just execute it? And so that's what I will usually tend to do to get more into that eight realm.
Yeah, we're. We're a wild bunch, aren't we?
We are, but it's really. Yeah, but it's really beautiful what you can really achieve when you do execute and just go for it.
Yeah. And knowing that you've got like, I like to say the 8 can be like the bodyguard. Like, when shit goes sideways, as long as you got an 8, a healthy 8 in your corner, you're solid. Like, we're not afraid of blindsides. We're not afraid of people trying to strong arm us. We're not afraid of people trying to cage us, because we will kick your ass. So congratulations on having an eight wing. So we talked earlier about being married and your husband is wired very, very differently from you.
Very differently.
How have you not just understanding, like how you operate. Like, what I tell people is, it's great for you to know your Enneagram type, but the first thing that you have to understand is not only how you operate, but how other people might receive you. And this is when we understand how other people might receive us, especially those that are wired differently than us, and we can have compassion for them and like, oh, this is usually where we, you know, have conflict. Right. What has changed, at least in your perception and experience in marriage over the last month with this information?
Yeah, I've had to have a lot more compassion for my husband and respond differently. So, for instance, looking for houses. We're looking for a new place to live. And for me, I'm like, okay, abundance, like, it's going to be the right place. We'll take action and it will happen. However, he's like refreshing the page and is getting a bit stressed out about finding the right place. So for me, I've been learning all about the Enneagram. I've had to acknowledge his work as soon as I start saying thank you so much for being really attentive to detail and focusing on all the details and setting all of these things up and doing all of the work, I really appreciate it. That has made a huge difference when I acknowledge his process and his thinking, as opposed to just getting really frustrated and being like, you don't trust me or you don't slowing this down. You don't trust my vision and that it will happen because sevens and visionaries see things very differently. We see possibilities, we know it's going to happen. But I've had to just focus a lot more on understanding that he will process things differently and that I just have to acknowledge his part. And how I came about that was in the let's get down to business course that we did. You talked about different people and different enneagram types and how they will respond in business. And to me that was kind of the biggest aha. Like threes and fours respond very, very differently. And the way you communicate with all of the enneagram types, very, very different. So to me, I started recognizing, oh my gosh, my husband is not a seven.
Not even a little, not even close.
Which is actually probably a good thing.
It is a good thing. That's why you guys make a good team. And like as long as we know how to communicate and respect others processes, you actually end up a more well rounded team. But it's in not understanding this that the power struggle happens and the, you know, I like to call it the big dick contest comes out, right? It's like, well, my way or the highway. No, my way or the highway. And it's just a shit show, right? And so when we can acknowledge other people's processes. I am not like your husband either. I seriously, I'm like, bottom line me, I don't need the whole labor, just give me the baby. Like you're kind of the same way, but in kind of that energy, even if I don't verbalize it, my body language never lies. I'm sure yours doesn't either, right?
My face does not lie.
We can feel like we're being very disrespectful and dismissive when we don't respect other people's processes. Now, like we don't want people stuck in their process either. But there's a beautiful, elegant way to communicate that. And the very easiest way for them to be on board with our process is through respect, right? Like you saying thank you for your attention to detail and being so thorough and all of that. All of a sudden your husband absolutely feel seen, heard and understood, right? And when that happens, you can have trust, credibility, connection and intimacy. And that's a game changer in marriage and parenting, in business. Like seriously powerful shit. And even, you know, you and me don't like to slow down very much in our life. But even, you know, Tiffany is the same way. My God, she like has to talk everything out and I'm like, oh my God, like I get it. And because I love her like actually slowing down long enough to honor her process actually speeds things up for the long game. And same thing with all of you listening right now who are like, let's freaking go. And you got people in your life that are troubleshooters or need the facts and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. I want you to know that slowing down to honor their process and support them and care for them and a, you'll get your needs met a lot faster. And it will speed up this process long term because they're going to not resist your vision or your gifts as long as they feel seen, heard, and understood. Right.
It's empowering people. As soon as you start to empower them, they're like, oh, I can continue to give.
Yeah. And it isn't like this power struggle anymore. I love it. What are blind spots that you had before that maybe you didn't see that you now see very clearly as an.
Enneagram7 I would say my biggest blind spots were just that feeling of getting trapped. I'm like, okay, I feel like something is going on where I'm not liking being in a certain situation or a job or a relationship where I'm like, okay, I'm going to get trapped. But I didn't really know what else to do without cutting and running.
Right. Yes.
The tuck and roll is what I call the sevens. Like, I'm out. Peace out.
Yeah. And so part of it was just not really knowing other effective tools to use in that time.
Yeah. It's so awesome, isn't it, when. When we actually have tools that we know how to use now.
Yeah.
And the same tools that work for you won't work for everyone else.
No. And I think part of it was for me and for, I would say a lot of people who deal with trauma or addiction, we know really well survival skills, but coping skills, not always so much, maybe until a little bit later. So in those times of stress, I would just try to rely on survival skills, which is not always conducive to relationships or being present. It's just really like leaving as fast as possible.
Wow, that is so powerful. I think you nailed it with that. Like most of what we do that was survival turn into unhealthy coping mechanisms that don't serve, you know, like you said, relationships, what we want to do with ourselves. And, you know, obviously you've got a lot of tools in your tool belt. How has the enneagram. I mean, you've got 20 years of a very strong tool in your tool belt. And how has the enneagram enhanced those tools. For those that are listening right now, that says, I've done a lot of personal development. I've done work, I've done the work, I've done the inner work, I've done recovery work, I've done all the work. How has the Enneagram reinforced every freaking tool in your tool belt, would you say?
I would say that it's magnified my strengths. It's magnified how I can best give back to the world in a very balanced way where I don't feel like I'm, you know, in that fight or flight kind of hiding mode. I feel like, okay, I'm safe to build and I'm safe to go after my dreams and go after like everything that I'm doing in life. I don't know, I just feel like it's more of. It's magnified the work that I've already done. So if you've done so much interpersonal work or all this personal development work, you haven't done this work. That's what I would say. Because I feel like this was kind of the biggest aha. In terms of my strengths, I would say, yeah, you know, doing like the 6 and 8, kind of like figuring out those tools. And then I'm like, oh, okay. I can move forward literally in any situation and apply that to my business. So for instance, with like, with patients, I can feel safe to be like, okay, if they had a, I don't know, a diagnosis or something that wasn't really working, they're like, I don't know what's going on. I can use that troubleshooting tool to help them find a different way to look at their body. I can use that eight wing for execution to figure out, okay, let's take this vision to just kind of like a whole different way and like look at the body differently and find out different answers for that person. So it's just helped in all different aspects from business to relationships to just how I really function in life and not shut down.
Do you find that you actually have more energy when you have these tools and actually know how to integrate them? That the energy output it you can work smarter, maybe not as hard.
Yes.
Is that true?
So I can give an example of that. Even like driving across the country, I'm like, okay, execute. Pack the car, do the things. And my father in law was like, oh, but we have to figure out the right way to go. And I'm like, okay, gps, plot it, go. Just keep driving as far as you can each day and just Execute. And I didn't feel the need to kind of start shutting down. I'm like, oh, no. I have new tools that I can use to move forward and get things done. And it's such a relief because I feel like I just didn't have that before. Or maybe like, as clear.
Yeah. The clarity and the next level awareness. Right. Like, I think we're all, especially in today's time, we have a level of self awareness, but we don't always have the level of self awareness on how others receive us and how our messaging sometimes isn't the most effective and, you know, the execution of our communication. Right, right. So I know a lot of people are listening right now that think they know their Enneagram type or they've taken an assessment, or they know their type for sure, but they don't know what to do with that information. Information doesn't equal transformation. It's the integration of it. So why do you believe that somebody listening right now, that's like, very, like, yeah, this sounds great. Why. Why do you think they should kind of do something, Some of this work with me or in general?
I think they should find out their correct enneagram type. It's kind of like when people try to Google their symptoms, what the heck is going on with them? And they're like, oh, I have this, you know, obscure thing. I'm like, no, you just have GERD or whatever.
But they're like, yeah, Dr. Google. Right.
That's how I actually, like, found out. I was googling something. And they're like, you have teenage pregnancy? And I was like, what? I just ate. Like, I just ate gluten. How did I get teenage pregnancy? I was like, why is that a thing? So it's kind of the same thing with looking at the Enneagram. So I was mistyped, and what if I didn't make an appointment with you? And what if I went along and I was like, oh, well, that's all the Enneagram has to offer, is that I'm kind of resonating with this. If I did not make an appointment with you, I would have pushed it aside, being like, this tool doesn't work. And then I would not have had access and understanding to everything that the Enneagram has to offer. And also, just taking that test doesn't give you, oh, gosh, like the way that you talked about how the 7 can turn into the 1 or the 5. It doesn't give you the full picture of where that enneagram number goes.
Right.
It just says, you are this. But you can't really do much with that. And if you're mistyped, it's not completely helpful. And I can. I think it can be really misleading.
Yeah. And that's. That's why I'm so passionate, because I see it innocently used incorrectly. It became very fun and trendy. It's not like, I mean, astrology is awesome and everything, and. And that's used out of integrity too innocently, because it's fun. But this is a beautiful tool that can really make you more in flow with who you were always designed to be. And it doesn't label you, it doesn't pigeonhole you, and in fact, it actually sets you free and allows you to step more into that authentic part of you in such a beautiful, beautiful way with all the wisdom and all the extra tools in your tool belt. My sister. Gosh. I have thoroughly, thoroughly enjoyed getting to know you and guiding you along. Whatever. I mean, it's like, I didn't know what you would learn from me, quite honestly, because you're a very, very smart, wise, beautiful, elegant woman.
