EP436: How the Enneagram Can Give You a Million Dollar Business

You have been chasing the hacks, the funnels, the scripts, the formulas. And maybe they've gotten you a little traction, but not the kind of impact or income you know you're capable of.

Here's the truth.

Strategy will only take you so far. Because success does not come from saying more. It comes from being heard. And people don't hear you just because you're loud, smart, or passionate. They hear you when you speak in a way that lands with them them when they feel understood, seen, and safe enough to believe you. That's the real million dollar edge. It's not out there in another hack. It's in here. Learning how you're wired, yes, but also learning how to meet people where they are wired. That's what the Enneagram unlocks. It's not a party trick. It's the roadmap to connection. To knowing. The language of trust, influence and impact for every kind of person you'll ever lead, sell to, or love. And when you integrate it, I mean really integrate it, you stop talking at people and start talking to them. You stop pushing and start pulling. And suddenly the ceiling breaks. In your business, in your leadership, in your bank account. So if you're tired of chasing strategies that don't stick and you're ready to actually learn the language of people, you're in the right place. Because this is how knowing and integrating the Enneagram can make you a million dollars. Let's go. Hey. Hey.

And welcome to the Enneagram Edge. I'm your host, Tracy o'.

Malley.

Enneagram expert, leadership coach, recovering control freak, and your personal translator for the shit you keep repeating but don't totally understand yet. Now, if you're new here, buckle up. This is absolutely not another fluffy Enneagram podcast where we talk about how sweet it is to be an Enneagram, too. And bake cookies for your friends. No, this is the real deal. This show is about using the Enneagram as a tool for transformation. Not just information, and definitely not some party trick.

Because knowing your type is cute.

But embodying your highest expression, that is where your edge is. Every week, I'm bringing you the truth.

Behind the types and the hype.

How to stop self sabotaging, lead like a damn legend, and actually understand the.

People in your life without wanting to.

Scream into a pillow.

Or.

Or if you're an enneagram8 like me, not throat punch someone. We'll talk about leadership, relationships, business, healing, high performance, and why couples therapy isn't working. But fully understanding your Enneagram blueprint might just save your marriage.

I'll drop solo episodes behind the curtain.

Coaching, and the occasional rant when someone calls the Enneagram just a personality test. So if you're ready to stop playing small and start showing up with unshakable clarity, confidence, and compassion for yourself and others, this is your space. You've got an edge.

Now let's use it. You want to know how the Enneagram can make you a million dollars? I'm not talking about the cutesy memes or TikTok reels or all the information on the Enneagram that's out there. I'm talking about building a multi million dollar business, leading teams of many people, and rewriting the entire way you communicate, sell, and lead. And I know because that's my story. Welcome back to the Enneagram Edge. I am Tracy o', Malley, your Enneagram authority and master Enneagram specialist. Honestly. And it's ironic because this coming month. September was the month that I was introduced to the enneagram 13 years ago. You know, I. I came into the Enneagram kicking and screaming. Wanted nothing to do with it. Told my therapist she could go fuck herself. Respectfully, you know, because I was in rehab and not at the highest moment of my life. I was there for legitimate help, not some cutesy little personality thing. And, you know, my therapist said something to me that I want to say to you. You know, this might open up your mind in ways that you cannot imagine. This might help you get out of the box that not only you have put yourself in, but others have tried to put you in. And your best thinking has gotten you here. You know, the definition of sanity. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and over and over and expecting different results. And we open up our mind to something that may actually help guide us. How about we do that? And Touche, Nancy. I heard her loud and clear. And within a day, I. I understood the beauty and the magic that was the Enneagram. Now, it's just a tool, right? And tools only work if we know how to use them and. And when it's appropriate. But, you know, I was resistant to it, but I was curious enough because she was right. Like my best thing had gotten. Gotten me there. Things weren't necessarily working to the extent I knew they could. And I know there's many of you right now that, you know, you have things going and they're going well, and things are shifting also. You know, we're in a trust recession. We are at a time where there's so much noise on the Internet. And how do you, how do you become that authority?

Right?

You know, it's one thing to be masterful at a. At a skill. It's another to be an authority in a space. And that's what I'm talking about. And that's what the Enneagram can give you. So. So back to the story. When I went and finished rehab, I had walked away from my career at that time, and headhunters were after me in the industry that I was part of. I was part of the car industry, and I was really great at what I did. And being a female in that industry is quite the commodity, especially if you're tough and good at what you did. And I was both those things. And I also knew that if I stayed in that industry, it would be a matter of time before I would be back to where I was.

Right?

Circling the drain. And so I. I had six months worth of savings to be able to figure out what was next. And I had no idea I was doing interviews. And in fact, one interview, I stopped them halfway through. They were about to offer me a pretty lucrative job. And I'm like, you know what? I can't do this. I can't do this. I apologize for wasting your time. But I know that there's something more for me. And I prayed about it and, you know, was taking action in the world to show the universe and God that I was here and open for whatever was to come. And it came in a package I did not want. Just like the Enneagram, right? Like, that's what this openness and this willing to see things a little differently than you have most of your life. So although I kind of on the Enneagram from, from the jump, I opened up to it and, and knew the transformation I'd had in that six months within my own home with my two kids. The Enneagram gave me language to lead them better. And it shifted the culture in our home overnight. I saw it immediately. And they were teenagers, and that's no easy task. And six months, in fact, on my six month sobriety date in March of 2013, I was covertly introduced to network marketing. I only joined it for the product. I had no idea it was even network marketing. In fact, when the girl who brought me in started the spiel and the. The shtick that gets a negative stigma in network marketing, I was like, bitch, just give me my box and go away. I don't need any of that information. And I took my box and went home. And yeah, I. I had no desire to even enter that space. I loved the product. And within week, I had such a profound transformation that quickly. And I don't mean physically necessarily, even though, like, it was. It was more how I felt from the inside out. And I called her. I'm like, hey, I know you started to give me some shtick. I only have one question. Bottom line, me here, and I won't. Don't want any more information. How much money have you made in the three months you've been doing this? Just by sharing it, like you did with me. And she told me, and I said, thanks, bye, and, and hung up the phone. And I, I went to the Internet and Googled the company and I looked at their compensation plan. Now, mind you, this was 13 years ago, and I had no social network. I had 400 friends on Facebook. Most of them were like people I went to high school with. I didn't have a great track record. In fact, I'm the single mom that just got out of rehab, mind you, so on paper, least likely to make any of that work, right? And this is what kind of. When Facebook was really starting to kick off there. I didn't even have an Instagram at the time. And I saw the compensation plan and I'm a numbers girl, and I understood the way that it was structured, that it was about leverage. It wasn't necessarily about, get all the people in the world and then like, you're going to be a millionaire. It wasn't like that. And I've never been like that in any of the industries I'd been a part of. You know, I've been in many. This is like version 5.0, Tracy. And I was great in all of them. I'd always built deep meaning relationships, like deep understanding of people. Like, if I was connected to people in a way that they felt seen, heard, understood, and valued, then that would go wide.

Right?

And it always did. Whether it was in the restaurant industry, the car industry, the industry of network marketing, and the way that the compensation plan was leveraged, I knew I could do that if I knew the right people could, you know, have that composure of authority that, like, passionate. I'm going for it. My resolve was high. You know, I had fortitude to see things through, and people were just magnetized to that. You know, it's. I have always talked about this and something I learned in recovery, it's like attraction rather than promotion. You know, I'm not going around telling anybody they need to be sober. However, people magnetize, are magnetized to Me and they want to know more. And I'm like, well, that's part of the story. Like to be the most in integrity, that's what I needed to do. And you know, that's how I've helped many hundreds of people go into recovery of some sort, you know, and network marketing, I operated the same way, attraction rather than promotion. Living my life in integrity authentically. And that's only part of it. Like, that's one part. The other part was the Enneagram and my ability to know who was in front of me at any given time and speak in a way that they could receive what's on my heart. To speak in a way that they felt seen, understood and valued for who they are. And also I could empower them based on those things. And you know, I had tested it out with my family and it worked. And because I'd gone from this male dominated industry, you know, very intense, into a mainly female dominated industry, working with, with people of all different types. In fact, many weren't cutthroat like me and that intense kind of energy. They were more empaths and, and people who wanted to serve people. And I was too. But I didn't necessarily know how to speak to that.

Right.

And I started taking what I had known and had been practicing and putting the reps in with the Enneagram and applied it to my network marketing business. And I gave myself like, okay, I'm going to do this two years. I love the product. It's an easy, that's easy for me. I can talk about it, I care about it, I know it can help people. And also I knew the, the business model of network marketing could not just impact people through connection and community, but also financially. And, and I was living proof and proof. And within six months, with no social network, that single mom went to rehab, made six figures. And all of a sudden people within the company were wondering what the hell I was doing because like I didn't do it with the big numbers. I wasn't like a sponsor monster or an enrolling machine. In fact, you know, I averaged four to five a month, which is one a week, which is not a big deal, right? And it spread and people wanted to know how I was able to help people go so fast. And you know, I, I didn't necessarily know the business of network marketing, but I knew leadership and I knew people. And the Enneagram helped me know them better than they even knew themselves. And that when we're in a trust recession, that will build you more credibility than Anything, especially when you use that for good, with beautiful intent and in integrity. And you know, my first million dollars was in 26 months. That's a million dollar income. Was in 26 months from nothing. And that's exciting. But what excited me most is that I did that with 82 people. 82 people. And my 82 people turned into a 15,000 person organization by year two. And I remember one girl who started maybe a month or two before me in a different part of the company. She had enrolled over 450 people in one year. And she was making a third of what I was because of this thing called leverage. And what I said to her, and what I'm going to say to you is a lot of you are having one night stands with your people, right? This is a metaphor. You're having one night stands with your people. You're like, what's in this for me? What's in this for me? What's in this for me? And then you're like doing the walk of shame and leaving later and leaving people in your dust. And that never feels good, right? It's time to date the people that you're here to serve. Impact. So that, that can go deep and then you can go wide, right? So, you know, I've had that network marketing business for, gosh, 13 years now. I haven't actively built that business in about seven or eight. It, the, the organization is upwards of over 120,000 people today. I've probably over that time brought in maybe 200 people, which is not a lot. I've cumulatively made over $5 million with that all using the tool of the Enneagram. The Enneagram was always my roadmap to talk to anyone, and it still is. Right before, I could only really connect with fiery, feisty people like me. You know, people were like, yes, you're like me. And a lot of us are operating and talking to only people like us. And we're missing the whole boat. And we don't create diversification in, in leadership and growth because people that are different from us bring something to the table that we're here to learn. We can be impacted by. And this is how we feed off each other. After using the Enneagram, I could see through their lens and speak their language. And that builds trust and credibility more than anything. I went from transactional sales to transformative conversation. And you know, people would love the product, obviously, but the more that they were around me and felt seen, heard, understood and valued and belief was poured into them genuinely. It Built trust a lot faster and their resolve and their confidence to stay in this long game. The Enneagram became the shortcut to what people feel, fear, value and crave. And when you know that and you use it for good, that's where impact happens. Because when people feel seen, they're more willing to buy, join, or commit to whatever it is you're doing.

Right.

Again, attraction rather than promotion. This also helped me scale my leadership.

Right.

Not everyone needs the same motivation. What motivated me, the. The carrot you can dangle for me is not typical to a lot of people in the network marketing space. Honestly, like, I could care less about ranks, I could care less about winning trips and all the things. Even though I charged through the ranks and I won every damn trip, including the most exclusive trip you could ever earn for the top five fastest growing teams in the company. I earned it in my first two years. And although that was all great, that was never my motive. And the Enneagram can help you understand the motives. There are nine different types, nine different lenses in which people see the world and how they process the world, and nine different motivational currencies. And when you understand them, this is where leverage becomes powerful. And especially, you know, I say this, any tool used with beautiful intent and integrity can change the world. That same tool used to manipulate, to control for what's in this for me, absolutely can become weaponized. And when you lead from. When you go from leading from what you need out of this situation to what they needed, impact happens. Okay. This also helped me create duplication. You know, I didn't ever tell anyone when I was doing my first network marketing build about the Enneagram. It was kind of like my secret weapon. I didn't start talking about it until five years into doing that, but I started to show people how to lead more effectively, to understand what was in this for them. Them. It wasn't until about eight years ago that I actually started talking about the Enneagram for the first time. Because people are like, how do you read minds? Like, it's like you can see into my soul. And the Enneagram also became trendy and it pissed me off. So I was like, you guys are using this wrong, so let me show you. But the Enneagram can help create duplication as well. The Enneagram can make you money without making you a slime bag, right? Especially if you're in the network marketing space. And I love obsessed with the model of network marketing. It is very lucrative when done right. It is one of the greatest connection and community builders that I've been part of. And especially at a time when I had wiped out my entire social network, I was grateful for that. But it can make you money without being slimy, right? Selling stops being about like getting people and it becomes more about how can I impact somebody and what problem can I help you solve in your life. I was never pushing products. Even though the product line was product based, I never pushed the product. I was, I was putting belief into the world that you could transform your life, whether it was physically with a product or financially with the business model or both, like it did me. So how can you use the Enneagram to make millions of dollars?

Right?

Number one, sales. This helps sales. And if you're somebody who like me and says I'm not very salesy, I'm not good at sales. Sales is just psychology. It's touching emotional points. It's. It's seeing into a problem that people want solved. People will buy for either a problem being solved or for entertainment, quite honestly, if it solves a problem or fits a need. And for some people, some people just like to shop. Some people love to travel. Like, if it solves a problem that people want and you know how to speak to the heart of what motivates them, you will print out money, you will generate sales without even trying. In that network marketing business, I never, never approached anyone, ever. But I spoke in a way. I always kind of touched on the way the nine different ways that people might be motivated and, you know, connected. Like Enneagram twos speak to contribution. Enneagram threes speak to achievement and status. Enneagram5 speak to knowledge and certainty. You know, and whenever I would be talking, I would kind of touch on those things and especially to the people not like me. You know, people that were like me instantly were gravitated towards me. They're like, I see you, you're you, me. But when, when I was talking to the people that were more about empathy and status, I could talk to that, even though that's not how I'm motivated. Because you have to paint, be able to paint a picture for the other people. Another way the Enneagram can help you make a million dollars is in leadership. And I have done this with my coaching practice. I have helped thousands of people integrate the Enneagram into their business coaching and life coaching. In fact, I'm a resident specialist for a lot of business coaches and some people me as part of their coaching package. A lot of people will even bring me into the first conversation. Companies hire Me to help them in the hiring process, kind of vetting the people that they're interviewing. So the Enneagram can give you the instead of this one size fits all kind of leadership. You're customizing your leadership in real time with the people you're here to lead. It also gives integrity driven influence versus performance driven manipulation. And in the land of social media today, and all this manipulative marketing and the content monster, when you can have this integrity driven influence that will stand the test of time. Another reason why the Enneagram can help you make a million dollars is resolving conflict and keeping retention. This was huge for me. This was huge for me because network marketing for a lot of people is their training wheels to entrepreneurship. Sometimes we're a little clunky and sometimes, you know, any kind of leadership role will trigger you. Even if like parenting, like that's the most important leadership role if you're a parent.

Right.

But it can be very activating and conflict will come up and how you are able to work through conflict, resolve conflict, see the other person's perspective. That again builds credibility and trust. Knowing people's triggers, keeping teams intact. In fact, I had a lot within my organization from other leaders that were having a lot of conflict. And because I, I was part of that team, they were part of my team, I could kind of reel it in, help resolve it, keep teams retained, keep people retained into this beautiful system that was transforming their lives. Million dollar businesses are not built on one big sale, you guys. They are built on keeping people engaged. And I became masterful at it in ways that again, they were trying to crack the code on what I was doing. Again, single mom, went to rehab that was, you know, not on paper was the most inspiring person, but I knew how to make every single person feel seen, heard, understood and valued. Another way the Enneagram can help you make a million dollars is scaling beyond yourself. Right? Can't be the bottleneck. The Enneagram helps you multiply yourself and others.

Right.

This is a challenge for me as an 8. I'm not gonna lie, you know, because my core fear is being put in a vulnerable situation, being betrayed or violated my trust with letting people in to scale businesses is really hard for me. And because I understand my framework, I know where I get tripped up. Instead of just saying this is how I am, like I can use the actual framework to guide myself to not be the bottleneck. And also I have helped thousands of people understand this about and, and see where they may get tripped up in scaling their businesses. It's why I'm hired by, you know, Fortune 100 companies like Google, John Deere, Facebook, YouTube, like, they've all brought me in to help with leadership for this reason, right? I'm, you know, making more money. I know how important it is, right? It creates legacy. It is. Gives you choices, it gives you independence, financial freedom. I don't know about that term, but financial independence, because what freedom means to me might be. Might be something different to you, right? But financial independence, the ability to do, go, be, have whatever it is that you want that makes life meaningful to you while making impact is my jam. And you know, I. I think fondly of those early days using the Enneagram, especially in building my network marketing business. And, you know, exciting things are coming around here. I'm just going to say that right now. And it is a system, it is a framework that is able to be duplicated when you understand it and when you do it from the right place. As I, you know, round out into this next month of National Recovery Month. And, you know, my sober birthday is around the corner. The early days of using the Enneagram to make my first million. And, you know, I'm sitting in this home that the Enneagram helped build. Obviously my network marketing business did too. I'm humbled by the beauty and the passion for this tool and the ability and the passion and the mastery of this tool to do it all over again and again and again. And I want to be able to help you do the same thing. There's. There's something to be said about making a lot of money. It's great. I love it. Not gonna lie. Who doesn't? But I love the impact that I'm able to make in what I do with the Enneagram.

Right?

People moved on from that business. So did I, in a lot of ways, but the impact remains. And people that have known me for these 13 years or maybe were touched by something I did through my work with the Enneagram, with them, without them even knowing it sometimes has stood the test of time. And we still have beautiful conversation and, and that is what really matters. The money is important, the financial independence is important. And impact is equally as important. And I'm excited to do it all over again in a. In a new, fun, exciting way. Stay tuned for that. That it's going to be really, really exciting. The Enneagram gave me that roadmap to build a multimillion dollar business. And if it did that for me as a newly sober single mom with no financial help and Zero sales experience in that space. It can do it for you, too. So here's what's happening. It is the last week before the inaugural cohort of my Enneagram Edge foundations program. This is me teaching you the Enneagram the way that I know it and the way that built millions of dol in that business and. And my coaching practice as well. Like, seriously, this is a transformative tool when you know how to integrate it. And I am master of integration of this tool. I'm very excited about the first cohort. If you want to get on this, like, again, this is happening next week, September 3rd. Do not sleep on this. I cannot wait to guide you through this beautiful tool so that you can see the.
