Hey guys, welcome back to another day of this self-love practice. My name is Vivek George, if you don't already know me, uh, and if this is your first time joining this practice, welcome. So happy to have you. And for those who've come before, welcome back. So today's practice is about positive affirmations. Um, if you've been doing self-love practices in the past, positive affirmations may be part of your repertoire already. But if you're new, don't worry, I'll guide you through it. So before we get started with that, we usually start off with a little quote or an idea to reflect on during this practice and maybe throughout your day. And so today's quote is by the author and political activist Marianne Williamson. And she has this amazing quote. She wrote this foreword for this book called Lovability that I'm reading right now. And she wrote the foreword for it, and it's literally the first line of the book. And it's so beautiful, and it really, really resonated, and I wanted to share it. So something to think about for all of us. Of all the things there are to learn— philosophy and mathematics, poetry and law, all the arts and all the sciences— what could be more important than that we learn how to love? Yeah, that's— it's so— yeah, it feels so true, you know. Yes. We have to accomplish things. We have to work. We have to provide for ourselves and our families. But knowing how to love each other is so fundamental, you know. Before all these systems were in place, we were just human beings roaming this planet. And so in many ways, I think we've forgotten how to connect with one another. To support one another and really how to love one another. But how do we love another person if we don't truly deeply love ourselves? And the journey of learning to love ourselves is a long one and maybe a lifelong one. But it starts with just a step each day or whenever you have that moment, that opportunity. And that's why we do these practices and keep showing up day after day. To do them. And that's why I'm so grateful to be able to do this practice for myself and with all of you, honestly. Okay, cool. So, um, so do positive affirmations. It's just, it's just saying something positive about yourself, you know, that if I was gonna do it, it would be like, Vivek, you are smart, you are funny, you are interesting. Some of those, I don't know if I, in all sincerity, I would say completely true. I'm not sure if I would say I'm the most funny person, but I think of myself as sort of humorous. And that's totally the part of what positive affirmation is about. It's about embodying the things that we certainly believe in ourselves but maybe don't give ourselves enough credit for, don't take the time to appreciate. It's also about of reinforcing things that maybe we're growing into. And lastly, to say some of the things that we want to get to but we're maybe not there yet, and we just need to re-change our mindset, our beliefs around it. If we are always beating ourselves up, which is usually the case for people who are drawn to these type of practices, then we're never going to move forward. We're going to just be stuck. So part of just saying these positive affirmations, even if you're you feel like they're not totally true today, it's about growing into them and just trying to embody them. And slowly but surely you will, if you, if you feel it and you keep saying it. These positive affirmations are for nobody else but yourself. And if you can create and imagine anything, why don't you imagine the best version of yourself? So just embody whatever feels right feels good and honest to you and that you would like to be in a week or a month or a year from now. Okay, cool. So once again, it— you can say them out loud if you'd like, or you can write them down. I think I like— sometimes I'd like doing both, to be honest. And I think today I will. I'll unmute my side of this, um, when I start saying the positive affirmations out loud. But I do like writing them too. There's something very tangible about writing. So for 3 minutes, we're going to do— we're going to just say or write or both. And if you want to do longer than 3 minutes, just pause the video and you can keep going. But 3 minutes of just whatever feels honest and right for you. And like I said, it doesn't have to be true today. It can be true in the future. I certainly do that, and that's definitely recommended by others. Amazing. And before we get started with the positive affirmations, we usually do a quick check-in, how we're feeling. Okay, I'm feeling, feeling, feeling good, feeling positive and happy. A little, a little, I would say, anxious. I get a little anxious in front of the camera, so today I'm noticing it a little bit more, maybe. So yeah, but otherwise I'm feeling good. And you? Cool. Awesome. So timer's going to go on. Enjoy. This is your playground to write and say what you feel like. You have 1 minute. Okay, wrapping up, guys. Finish your last one. Okay, cool, awesome. How'd that go? I'm going to share a couple of mine, just maybe in case, um, for those who are new to positive affirmations, to maybe understand how you could frame them. So some of the basic ones were like, "You're amazing," "You are kind," 'You're smart.' But then I also wrote, 'Vic, you are the prize.' 'Vic, you are worthy.' 'Vic, people love you.' 'Vic, you're perfect just as you are.' So just some of the— 'Vic, you're charismatic.' Essentially just some different things you can say about yourself. And you can really go wide with this, you know, and just have fun with it. Positive affirmations are something that I often say throughout the day to myself and while I'm in the shower, as I'm walking, you know, just to kill time, just saying something positive, fill my brain with something positive with thoughts because so often our mind is filled with so many negative thoughts, right? So remember, you know, as this quote we shared today, remembering how to love, knowing how to love is so important. It starts with us. If we don't love ourselves, how can we love those around us? So have a wonderful day. Oh, before we wrap up, actually, that's my— usually my cue for wrapping up. We'll do a quick checkout. Uh, we do check-in and checkout. So checkout today, yeah, yeah, feeling good, feeling more relaxed, feeling— I have a little bit bigger smile on my face, I think. So yeah, all's good. And you? Leave a comment, guys, below, uh, about your checkouts, your check-in, and maybe share some of your affirmations. That's another way for you to reinforce those affirmations you were saying to yourself or writing down. Awesome, guys. Well, have a wonderful day. Thank you again for joining me on this self-love journey, and don't forget, most importantly, to love yourself. Take care. Peace.
