Season 2 | Episode 74 | The 2027 RT Summit with Rhett and Lance
7 Jun 2026 · 22 min
In this informal podcast episode, hosts Rhett Smith and Lance Hall announce and promote the upcoming 2027 Restoration Therapy (RT) Summit scheduled for March 4‑5 in Malibu, California. They share early‑bird registration details (deadline November 1, pricing tiers for students, groups, and individuals), highlight the summit’s keynote speakers—Ron Deal, Terry & Sharon Hargrave, Eric Ehle (forgiveness), and a joint presentation by Rhett Smith and Megan Eakin on anxiety—and describe the workshop format and call for additional workshop submissions. The hosts also discuss upcoming Level 2 and Level 1 RT trainings (June 4‑5 with Stephanie Lievens, August 28‑29 with Lance Hall, June 26‑27 with Michael Pachuco in Phoenix, and August 14‑15 with Terry Hargrave) and provide contact information for registration and workshop proposals. Throughout, they emphasize the value of community, diverse peer interaction, and ongoing professional growth, illustrating these points with personal therapeutic anecdotes such as using baseball‑diamond metaphors and creative homework (songwriting, soliloquies). The episode concludes with a strong call‑to‑action to register via restorationtherapysummit.com before slots fill up.

What's up, Lance? Rat, how you doing, my brother? Episode 74, is that, is that where we're at?
That's where we're at, and this is going to be a short one because we have some Big things on the horizon here.
It's big, guys, really big. What do you want to talk about first? Well, why don't you tell everybody what you're doing, Rhett?
Okay, I am literally right now, Lance, I'm gonna hit this confirm button. Okay, okay, my screen says generating your e-ticket, waiting to your inbox.
You hear that?
I am registered, people. What? Officially for this.
I just got a new purchase. Yes, for the RT Summit.
There he goes. All right, people, I am registered for the summit. And Lance, we are a little bit— and not surprised, but we just launched this early bird registration last week. You want to tell people where we're at, guys?
We are already over over 10% registered. Yeah, which is crazy to me.
Yeah, for being not till March. I can't believe it. Yeah, so we're about 10% registered, and I, in my brain right now, I can think about— I don't know, we— Lance and I did the math a little bit. We know about 40 or 50 people right now who need to register right now who haven't registered. So So all that to say, do not wait and register.
But before you register right now, I would like to lean in on some of the amazing things that are going to be happening at said summit.
Okay, let's do it.
Okay. First, it's a gathering of beautiful people. There might be a few that are not so beautiful, but, you know, You're speaking of you and I, of course. Yes, obviously. Actually, mainly me.
Um, I have, um, we barely have radio voices. Yeah, definitely not.
My face was made for radio. There we go. But a face that's not made for radio, let's talk about it. Ron Deal, one of our keynote speakers. Guess who else? Terry and Sharon Hargrave Eric Ehle is going to be speaking at the RT Summit. What? He's going to be talking on forgiveness. Who needs to know more about forgiveness? I do. Guess what? There's going to be some live demonstrations. How many of you liked those live demonstrations last time? But wait, there's more. There's this guy and this amazing woman um, who we are big fans of. Well, I don't know how big a fan you are of the dude, but, um, Rhett Smith and Megan Eakin are going to be presenting on anxiety and restoration in the restoration model. So those are our keynotes that we're going to have. Uh, you can go on to restorationtherapysummit.com and, uh, learn about more. We have a lot of workshops that are going to be coming out.
Yeah, a lot of workshops. And just so you know, the website is up and launched, but it's not done. We just wanted to get up registration. Yeah, we have, we have lots of workshops coming down the pike. People are still, um, finishing up their submissions for workshops, etc., etc. So, right, yeah, we will have workshops all day on Thursday and Friday of the summit, which we wanted to submit for our workshop.
Like, it's not too late. Like, I think you can still submit, um, for workshops as well.
Yeah, if you're interested, I would just send an email to Lance or I, and probably the easiest is Lance. So it's L-A-N-C-E-A-H-L, so lanceall@gmail.com, right? Or me, Rhett, rhett@rhettsmith.com. Send us if you are interested in submitting for a workshop and want to speak at that, that'd be great. And, um, just as a reminder, it is March 4th and 5th. That's a Thursday, Friday. So we'll go all day Thursday, all day Friday. We will do something that Wednesday night before because people will be in town, but it'll be more of a loose gathering. We're not doing like a big dinner kickoff or anything that you need to be at, but we're 300 people.
That ain't gonna happen.
Yeah, it's not gonna happen. It's, it's, it's space and cost prohibitive. So, but we'll do something on Wednesday night and then we'll get down to work on Thursday and Friday and then you'll be done Thursday— or sorry, Friday late afternoon.
Yeah.
And you will have the rest of the weekend to hang out in beautiful Malibu, beautiful Southern California.
So yeah, my favorite time of year to be here is March. Um, so a few things, uh, early bird lasts for the next couple of months.
November 1st is the last day of early bird, but don't wait till it—
yeah. Um, it— that is $275. Um, if you do that, uh, if you're a student, and we only want students Guys, don't, don't do the sneaky stuff. Like we will find you. Yeah. Let's, let's be ethical here.
Um, you'll submit with your, yeah, your student.edu. That cost is $250 for a student. Early bird is $275. After November 1st, it goes up to $350.
Hmm. Dang. And then, and then Lance, we can get right now, you got a whole group of more than 10 that you are bringing out.
So if there are people listening who want to come in a big group, Right, yeah, or bring your center.
Just let me know. You can do the ticket there or we can figure it out. Just let me know. I can figure— I'll get that dialed in. LanceAll@gmail.com, or you can just fill out the group and I'll get that dialed for you guys.
And the cost for a group of 10 or more is $2,500.
So yeah, it's all costs cheap, saves costs.
So anyways, we and I, you know, I, you know, people wait to sign up at the end, but we, we are limited here at space at Malibu. We would do have a cap sellout. So if you are interested in coming, um, don't wait. Buy your ticket, get your plane tickets, get your places to stay. I, um, Lance, why do you think— I mean, we're obviously biased, we love our tea. Yeah. Why do you think it's really important for people to come to the summit?
Well, number one, I think the more we engage with one another, it helps us to stop getting lazy, right? Um, I think there's a lot of us that are, are good therapists that are missing out on the ability to become great therapists. And I think what happens that when we gather with one another, I mean, I think that's part of why we do the RT Dialogue is like we're trying to lean into how do we become the next level? How do we lean into our greatness? And community is one of those huge things, particularly around the diversity of community, not just people that are in your own ecosystem, but thinking about like, oh, how are you doing this? How are you doing this? That makes a huge difference. So that for me is why I think people should sign up. What do you think?
So I was going to read I've mentioned before this little statement that Brad Stolberg makes in his book, The Way of Excellence. He says this and I love it. He says the actual secret to greatness is— are the— okay, are these things: pick your thang.
Yep. RT.
I did. RT. Pick a good system for your thang. RT. Pain cycle, peace cycle, 4 steps, etc. Surround yourself with people who support you doing your good thing. Mm-hmm. RT Community Summit. And then he says, do your thing for a decade or more.
That's right.
So I— my first summit was 2016 at Pepperdine, and Terry had me speak on anxiety and fear then. So this will be 10 years, and I missed one of the summits during that time, and then a couple got like canceled. And then Amarillo.
Yeah.
Amarillo was amazing last year. And that, like, yeah, was it last year?
Dang.
It's almost 2 years.
Yeah.
We're doing a 2-year cadence and now a decade later I'm like, oh, okay. I've been doing RT for really about 16 years, but the last decade I feel like I've been really in deep with the community.
Yeah, you have.
And a beautiful system, which is RT. And I feel like this is the way that, like you said earlier, we become great at what we do as therapists or coaches, pastoral leaders, whatever it is. And so I just, I just think we can't be alone. I think we got to do something in community and go deep with it. And, um, so if you're listening, come out to the summit, get deep in this community.
All right, let's talk about the other things about community that you can join in on though.
Yeah, other things going on.
Go ahead. Okay, we have two Level 2 trainings coming up. Okay, if you are free this early summer, I want to invite you to join with my amazing friend, um, who I wish I had more time with, Stephanie Lievens. She's got just a couple more spots left in her group. Um, which, um, starts on June 4th through the 5th. Um, it's a weekend online. Uh, then you have 2 sessions where she watches you do therapy, and then you finish up in August. So if you have like a summer and you're like, man, I really like to brush up on my skills with RT Level 2, come this summer. Let's say you want to have like a great summer and you're like, oh man, I don't want to have to think about RT all summer. Maybe you want to hang out with Lance, that guy who loves to train people in RT. Well, we got something for you. August the 28th through the 29th, um, right at the end of your summer, you can come out on the weekend and we will work through, um, how to do Level 2 therapy. So it's August 28th through the 29th. We meet for 2 in between where I watch you do therapy by, um, with a person live, or I watch a recording, um, and then we finish it off October 16th and 17th. You can be a Level 2 therapist going into the summit. I don't think you get special credo, but man, you will have an aura, and that's all I got to say about that. What do you know about Level 2?
Take you out surfing if you finish Level 2 training.
That's right, I'll have the boards ready.
That's right.
It's a good deal. I, I think the Level 2 training is absolutely worth it. Yep. Um, so we have other things coming up. Our, um, I guess the coaching just happened. Sorry, Megan, we forgot to announce that. Looks like you had a good group anyways. Um, uh, the other one is Pachuco. What's Pachuco got going?
June 26th, June 27th in Phoenix, Arizona. Michael Pachuco, Level 1 training.
Yeah, guy's awesome.
Yeah. So if you're in the Arizona area or you can drive there— actually, it's online. So what am I saying?
No, no, this is live, isn't it?
It is live. Okay, so I have it.
Yeah, you know, you're right.
It is live. It is live. I misread that. Yeah, it is live. So if you can drive there and be in person, that'd be phenomenal. He's a great teacher.
I enjoy spending time with him. Phoenix, Arizona.
It's where I grew up. It's where I spent my formative years. So it's where I started my career journey.
To, uh, like, you know, when you go to the person, famous person's hometown, and they have like, this is where Rhett Smith grew up.
No, there is, there is, there is no statues there.
Do you have like a home? Like, uh, is your home still there though?
My parents live there in Scottsdale, and on occasion I and my brother will drive by our childhood home. Yeah. And, um, my elementary school, um, closed this year, and they had a reunion, uh, they wanted everybody to come out to. And so they were contacting me on, you know, Facebook and stuff because some of my teachers were there, but I couldn't make it for my, my grade school. Closing. So yeah, Phoenix. I love Phoenix. Also, what else do we got, Lance, in August?
In August, you tell me.
Telling you, am I— Terry Hargrave Online Level 1, August 14th and 15th.
Oh, with that one, it is full, so you can get on the waitlist. Okay, this is it, guys. You gotta sign up.
And the last one in August, you wanna say something about that? I kind of know the guy who might be doing it.
The level 2, you know, I already told everyone about it.
In August 28th and 29th, you said that?
Yeah.
Oh yeah, you just did say that to come out.
That's right, end of summer. No, but I think that's good because I bet you there's a few people that weren't listening.
Well, obviously I was Obviously I was not listening very well.
Wait, what's happening August 28th and 29th? I don't know.
Lance Hall Level 2 training.
Hmm.
So we just are excited. You know, we don't have a topic today. We're not doing like an official, official podcast, but the summit is essentially our Super Bowl of RT. Yeah. And we want everybody to be there. Absolutely. I just think I was talking to a few people the other day in the RT community and I'm like, there's a lot of cool things happening right now.
Yeah.
That like just kind of that are on the move and in the works and the summit in March I think will be a great opportunity for all of that just to come together and to see what everyone's doing and for us to leave that place and to continue to impact the regions and the communities around us. And so Again, if you, um, if you want to come out, we'd love to have you. Bring your spouse. They don't want to attend with a bunch of therapists, they can just hang out in the weekend in California. Yeah, um, come on. So what else? We got a couple more minutes. Anything else you want to say? Any—
anything? Okay, let's give them— let's give them something. Let's give the people something.
Okay, okay.
Tell me one thing that you're really enjoying about therapy right now.
Oh man, something I'm really enjoying about therapy right now. You feel like I should just know. I, um, well, let me tell you about a population or an aspect of therapy I'm really enjoying right now. I work with a lot of college students and I see them in person, but then when they go away to school, a lot of them are away, right? And so we continue doing some online therapy. And also I'm a certified coach, so I continue a lot of that relationship in other states with, with my students. And something I'm really enjoying right now is everyone is back and they're back in my office in person. And I'm really seeing like the things that we've worked on the last year, like the progress they've made and just the growth. That they've experienced in going through hard times and navigating that. And I don't know, it's just cool to have them like physically back in the room and to see them a changed person and transformed, you know, and especially with someone who's 18 to 22, to really get them to work on and embody their truth and to see that come alive. Like, I love that. So that's, that's where I'm at right now. That's something like this week even, I was pretty excited about. So what about you?
Okay, so a while back Terry handed us these, um, uh, um, I don't forget what they're called, but they're basically a whole bunch of, um, uh, not figures of speech, but like, uh, um, uh, all these different, uh, oh gosh, these phrases that we can use in therapy, um, and trying to think through them. You know, I'm talking about like soliloquy, metaphor. Yeah, yeah. Anthropomorphism, you know, sonnets. And I've recently been doubling down on those for my clients. I'm a therapist who likes to give homework because I want my clients to be thinking about it. So I've been having my clients work on like writing songs and developing soliloquies. And it's been so much fun to have my client come into work, come into session with the work that they've created. And I can't—
I feel like writing a song.
Yeah.
That's cool.
Yeah. Like, let's, let's, let's see what would happen. Like, let's, let's have you write a song about like the person who has climbed the mountain, right? Who's made it to the top. Like, let's, let's, it's kind of like a future self, um, uh, work, um, that I'm doing with my clients. Uh, you know, um, so it's been fun. Um, I just actually, what would happen? I might work on this one today. What would happen if you were to sing a lullaby to your child self?
Ooh, dude, that's, uh, yeah, bro.
Imagine your child self. Now I want you to sing a lullaby over them. Yeah, I'm gonna do that.
I talked to you a lot throughout the week and I didn't even know this was something you were like excited about here recently, which goes to my point of the reason to gather at a summit is to hear like the exciting things people are doing.
Yeah.
So we can like grow as a therapist.
Yeah.
And I will say this out loud. I told you, I— after you and I recorded with Joanne Russell last week.
Yeah.
I use the baseball innovation in my office.
Yes.
So I have a client where I was already using things like hula hoops and things to step on. I knew they loved baseball. And I'm like, okay, let's just do the work we've already been doing and make it more concrete for this person about something they love. And so I laid out sticky notes in the form of a baseball diamond, the four bases. So, you know, this is again why we like to do an RT dialogue. Literally sometimes the same day I learn about an innovation from someone, I'm practicing it that afternoon.
That's so great. Yeah. One of my favorite things that we didn't talk about with that intervention is like when you play baseball and you're watching baseball, like on the box score, you'll see this statistic that's LOB. And LOB stands for left on base. And those are the people that didn't score. Right? And that number can be so disappointing. That when that number is high and the Padres are so high right now on LOB, it is like mind-bogglingly sad for me. And it's like, and I think about it with my clients. I have so many clients that are left on base, like they didn't make it home. So I keep on crying out, man, let's go home. Let's go home.
Well, as a therapist, sometimes I, I, I leave people on base in session. I don't always bring it home. I got to work on that, you know. I get caught up in my own anxieties, own fears. And so that's a good reminder to not leave people on base.
Don't leave them on base, bro.
Man, take them home. All right, people are probably like, okay, can Lance and Rhett shut up now? They've been rambling for 22 minutes about Summits and other stuff. So we will get out of here, but again, just please go to our website, which is restorationtherapysummit.com. Yep. And register. Don't wait, don't wait, because we, we were kind of surprised to already have more than 10% of slots filled up in the first week or so. And we think as we get, you know, more and more time over the summer and closer to the early bird ending November 1st, that We, we, we have all expectation to be sold out. That's our expectation. Yeah.
So it's going to happen.
We just wouldn't want you to miss out. Yeah.
Don't miss out, bro.
Don't miss out. All right, Lance.
Dude, much love, bro. Cheers.
