Welcome to another episode of Real Dad Movement podcast. The point and purpose of these episodes, as always, is to have a point and purpose towards helping you win the second half in life by building a path of becoming the best father, husband, man and member of your community that you can be. We do this with various ways of connecting. Life is connection. And as you hear these words spoken time and time again, know that the driving force of connection in life is energy. Which means that how you turn up as a father, as a husband, as a valued member of society will always start and end with how you turn up as a man within yourself. First, this is why it's my mission, my purpose, our mission, our purpose through Real Dad Movement to inspire, motivate, educate, and guide you into thoughts, feelings, actions and a change in your belief systems to rise up, cut the shit from your life and live and leave a real legacy. When dads win, everyone wins. And when you win, I win. Let's get moving forward, mate, right here, right now.
Welcome to another episode of Real Dad Movement podcast. This is our special edition, our high performance father edition that we do every Tuesday, as discussed in previous episodes with our phenomenal energy coach, Ken Lavander. Sir, welcome.
How are you?
Well, yes, mate, very well, very well. Since you've been carving me up with my training sessions and my nutrition and. Bloody hell, man, I can feel the changes. It's awesome. I'm very excited to see what will shape up because obviously we're big on living and breathing the example, aren't we, Ken?
Yeah, absolutely.
This is a great episode for you guys listening to this or watching this on YouTube. Don't forget we've got obviously itunes, Spotify, several other platforms as well as YouTube with our special HPF edition episodes with Ken. And with this one, we're talking about emotions and stress. So there are three main points and with those points or pillars, and with those, there are pillars and levels in themselves, which maybe we'll save that for another day, but the main ones that we do talk about, this is all Ken's creation is definitely the physical, chemical and emotional side of your health and wellbeing. To be fair, this isn't a fitness program. This is about your life. So a big part of this is understanding emotions and stress. And that's what today's episode is about. Because nothing hits you more in your life when you're wearing all the different hats as you enter fatherhood and then carry that through your 30s, into your 40s and 50s in the second half in life, then how you can handle the Baggage. How you can remove the shackles of being worn down, held down and worn out and burnt out from the chaos and the stress and moving parts of life. Emotions and stress. What an episode. There's going to be some phenomenal takeaways for you guys. So make sure you tune in, turn the volume up, listen very clearly and pay attention. Give us your full attention to get as much value as you can out of ultimately a lot of the stuff that Ken has, which is all gold. But I'm excited as well to obviously get some great insights. So, Ken, welcome again, mate. Let's dive into it. Emotions and stress. Talk to me about the fundamentals of it and obviously your expertise and what that entails.
Yeah, it's an incredibly good subject and I believe it's mainly. It's one of the main subjects when we talk about physical, chemical and emotional, because it all relates to each other and it's all overlapped. And when people start thinking about emotional, when they think about stress, it goes hand in hand because stress isn't just about something happening to your body and it being bad, like some kind of, like an emotional thought which can create stress within the body. And then you start thinking about stress by creating a physical side of things. When you go into the gym or you go for a run, or you may be out just playing sport or playing backyard cricket with your son or your daughter, or netball or basketball, whatever it is. And then all of a sudden you wake up the next day and then you realize that, hey, listen, I've got some sore muscles. And so that stress that's stressing the body as a physical side of things. And then the emotional side of stress can be just like, you've got to wake up at 5 o' clock in the morning and you've got some big event on, or you've got some speech that you've got to make or some presentation. And so those stress side of things can be a good thing, but also can be a bad thing. And so that's why stress isn't just about something being bad, it's also, it can be good stress on the body also because of, again, we go back to the physical side of things. You go in for a workout and at the end of that workout, even though you put your body through stress, whether it be 20 minutes, a half an hour, an hour, whatever it is, then at the end of that, then all of a sudden you get this dopamine rush, which is the happy chemical that will be released within the body through the emotional thought because you've just finished your workout, so we've got kind of a double hit here where it's going to be emotionally from the, from the emotional side of things where you go, hey, wow, this is great. I've got, I've started my day with a workout and then now the stress on the body is coming from shit I've just trained, you know, pretty solid. And now the body needs nutrients, etc. Some breathing techniques to kind of relax the stress, lower the cortisol levels that you've just created because of the intensity of the workout.
Isn't that fascinating? The, I guess the connection between what your interpretation is with certain words and terminology as well. And it creates a belief system like a lot of people like several things. Stress, they think bad right away. And then when you look at things like, you know, I love Bruce Lipton's work, epigenetic scientists, you know the biology of belief. It's like, well, when you build those perceptions in at the control center of your brain and your mind, that can ultimately have that flow on effect to literally the consciousness of every cell in your body. And that creates a trigger and a pattern. Like when I used to perform highly crossfit with a bone and bone knee, I used to literally rub and obviously try and treat and massage my knee and get it prepped. But I would talk to it, I would channel a belief system, do it going, you know what, this is a good, this is a good period of training, a good stress, a good threshold that I'm going to put you under and this is going to bring some value as long as we look after you and nurture you afterwards and call it crazy, you know, if you want to break it down, Al talks to his knee. But fuck, mate, it let me do things that no other man my size or height could do in the world when it came to CrossFit, that's for sure. But yeah, mate, that's such a critical thing actually having an awareness of what it means and then having that from an outside source, not yourself, the outside source here being you, Ken, and your expertise, breaking that down. And obviously the benefits of the good side and then the cautions of the bad side and how to improve that. So where do we go to from here, mate, with that side of things? With yes, stress and then the emotional side.
Yeah. So when it comes to the chemical emotions, we talk about the happiness or the feel good chemicals being dopamine. So when you think about like give you a good example. So if all of a sudden you're going to a restaurant and then you walk in and it's your favorite restaurant and you can smell all the aromas and everything else and all of a sudden you get this release of dopamine and then it's your happiness chemical and you're feeling great about it. You go right, you know, and you're already planning what you're your entree, your main and your dessert. If you go into the dessert, or you might start with your dessert, then stuff the entree and then forget about the main, also just double up on the dessert. So this dopamine hit is just unbelievable. So it's around pleasure, it's a sense of reward.
Whoops.
I've just lost the.
Sorry.
My wife's vision board has just dropped from behind me.
So maybe she's no fault of your own, Ken. It wasn't you, mate. I don't know what's going on. Maybe she's just. Yeah, make sure she doesn't pin that on you pulling her vision board down. Yeah, I know.
So, yeah. So the sense of reward, so that pleasure like, so that, hey, listen, you've done your workouts for the week, you've eaten great food and then you know what, your reward, that pleasure, the feel, amazing reward, the dopamine hit is coming because you're rewarding yourself, you and your partner and your family because you've got to that, you've got that dopamine hit. You feel great. But then obviously every time I go in for a workout and I train with my crazy mate, I get a dopamine hit. Only because he's kind of crazy and we call him Angry Bird. But the thing is, at the end of his workout, he's not so angry anymore. So that dopamine hit from him and I doing a workout is incredible. So it's really about making sure that you've got the best of both worlds. And then, and then what you'll find is there's a lot of people out there that are taking some kind of medication because they don't get that dopamine hit within their day to day lives. And that's kind of a sad thing because what they're doing is getting a supplement that's not natural, that's causing other effects within their body. So all of these antidepressants, et cetera and things like that, so many of them have such bad side effects. And I get it that, that you know, they may be in a position where, you know. And again, just make sure that you're taking the advice of a doctor, but also you want to be asking the doctor, can I wean myself off of these, these medications because they have such severe side effects. And people, people then become dependent on. And so I become dependent on my exercise. If I don't exercise, I don't get my dopamine hit, then I feel really bad. So it's kind of two ends of the spectrum when it comes to things that we're talking about on a day to day basis. So that's of the good side of things for me, but it's on the bad side of things for people that need some kind of external supplementation. And then when you think about what affects that dopamine hit, that happy emotional stuff, what actually negates all of the benefits of that comes into people drinking alcohol, taking drugs, eating junk food, etc. Like these triggers here they are trying to literally get this happy feeling within themselves, to generate that throughout their day, their week, their month. And that should be kind of also instilled when you come home from work or you come home from wherever you're coming home from, whether you've gone on to a business meeting or a trip or whatever it is and you come home, that environment around your partner and your family, it's really about do you head for an alcoholic beverage, do you head for a cigarette, do you head for a supplement? Which is all unnatural stuff and we need to be working towards something that is natural and we need to be weaning ourself off it. So don't think that you're going to get through your day, your week, your month. If you're constantly adding these addictive supplements into your nutrition program or into your daily lifestyle and think you're going to get a better result, it's just absolutely madness. And this is what I try and tell people, this is what I try and educate people. I try and educate them with the tools that if you're taking some kind of external supplement, is it needed, is it warranted, has it been prescribed by a doctor, what's it for? And how long are you going to be taking this for? And like I said again, my dopamine, where my happiness supplements come from is my workout, my good nutrition, time spent with family, great sleep. If my sleep's not right, I'm working on my breath work. It's what it is. It's about continuously working on improving my health. That's what it's about. And that's why kind of, again, people that look to drugs, look to alcohol, look to junk food, don't expect a great outcome if you're constantly feeding yourself with that shit. It's just not going to happen.
Yeah, yeah, completely agree, mate. And here's the crazy part. Like, people construct time. Like time is fictitious, right? It's a mechanism that we've created for some sort of social structure, some conformity in terms of how we organize ourselves with ourselves, with our family, with other people. But it's a mechanism, it's a tool. Time is a tool. What does exist, Ken, is the rhythms and cycles of the universe. Your life, the sun rising, setting, the moon, blah, blah, blah. Same with us. Like you're talking about sleep. Hard part is though, if people don't tap into that in a natural way with the ebbs and flows of like you said, and I bang on, mate. I was thinking the exact same thing. Nourishing and moving the body, restoring the body through your sleep and ultimately your environment. So good people, places and things that nurtures that. If you don't have that at the level that's going to build a good rhythm and cycle of your dopamine and your chemical and emotional health, what happens? Mate, they look at the fucking chronic superficial ways like technology, like the phones just to be basically on a fucking drip. I'm going to drip all day now, Ken, because I'm just looking for that next level here on Facebook to have that little notification say here's my fucking like for this post. And that's, that's where what we're doing is. We are chemically fucking ourselves up and manipulating whether it's through. I know you say supplements, but yeah, you know, the medication side of things to try and fix you all through forms of technology as an escape and fantasy world where it's like, fuck me, where do you think that's going to end up? How do you think that's going to turn out for you? Instead of actually investing in yourself the right way, like what you've spoken about.
The thing is serotonin is released like from a chemical reaction within the body. Like as I learn from day to day or from week to week with what I learn and I'm constantly upskilling and just trying to find what, what the best information is out there and then listen to again as much information as I can and try and decipher the good from the bad. Like serotonin is tied to social connections and it's about looking for, do we look for a supplement or for a prescription drug to try and deal with day to day life? Or can we look for the natural supplements out there through, give you an example Here, like Ashwagandha is an incredible natural supplement that we can get, get from a herb and just by taking literally. And this is well documented, like, there's incredible amounts of information out there, like 300 to 500 milligrams of ashwagandha a day, which is all natural, 100% natural. It can lower anxiety and cortisol from 14.5 to literally 27.9%. There are incredible amounts of studies out there and this is the latest information that you can get. So I go to the doctor and I go, okay, I'm a little bit anxious, I'm a little bit like, you know, frustrated. I'm a little bit kind of, my life's not going that well. Listen, how can you help me? They're going to hit you with potentially, they'll go through the stuff and whatever else and ask you many questions, I hope, and then potentially go, you know what, what's the easiest thing I can help this person out with? I can give them some kind of anxiety medication, antidepressant medication, just in case it's. And they'll give you some kind of supplement that's not natural. Or if you've got a great doctor, they'll kind of say, you know what, go and meditate. Hey, listen, if you're like me, my doctor told me to go and spend a weekend at the Nanten Temple, which was just absolutely amazing. But from that, just from that alone, like this information is available from examine.com, like it's available to everyone. Like doctors can access this, you can access this. It's absolutely incredible information. Like another natural supplement you can buy, which is all natural. L theanine, like 100, 200 milligrams before sleep, like deals and treats chronic anxiousness and stress. It increases relaxation, like it'll reduce blood pressure. Like there's so much information. And you know what? These are all validated studies you can get from examine.com so rather than look at some kind of medication that's going to give you 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 side effects, go in and look at and do your own homework and take your health and your welfare in your own hands and go, listen, if you're talking to your doctor, make sure, hey, I get it, we all need to kind of, we have our GP and whatever else and if things aren't going that well. Yeah, have a discussion with them, but make sure that you're having a discussion. If they do prescribe or they want to prescribe you something, ask them what the side effects are and is there Any natural remedies. That's what it's all about, taking control of your own situation. And if you don't, well then you've got your own self to blame.
Yeah, that's the hard part, isn't it? Being willing to step forward and start to educate yourself instead of just being. Doing what you're told from a source that doesn't have your best interest at heart. Firstly or secondly, doing nothing. Two of those ingredients, actually. Funny you mentioned that, Ken. We've got, we put them in our, in our supplements. Moji Night Ride. Like we're, we're big on immunity and inflammatory. And also nootropics, nervous system support and overall health and wellbeing. I mean our products are all 100% natural for that reason. I live and breathe I stopped taking them. But what's the, on the flip side, if guys aren't even aware of this and hopefully you guys are just listening to this when we're talking about your health and wellbeing, it's not okay, I'm going to go punish myself in the gym and I'm going to crank this big workout and that's, that's my release as a one off. And then you're broken. You know, it's a holistic approach around getting those natural elements of those. Yeah, the endorphins, having those chemicals released in your body, but the emotions and stress that can inhibit your ability to even explore that comes down to your lifestyle, your perceptions and belief systems. What do you think happens, Ken, with these guys who don't even have an awareness or they end up in a chronic state of not looking after their emotional or their stress, that area of their health.
It's systemic. There's no two ways about it. It's systemic. People are looking for something or for someone to blame why they're not achieving a result, why they're not feeling better in themselves, why they're not performing well, whether it be a business, whether it be personal, whatever it is that they're doing. Everyone's always making excuses. And I find again, as we've spoken previously, it comes down to failure and looking for someone else to blame. Becoming a follower rather than a leader. And with what we've advocated and the reason why we've put everything together and the reason why we're running the HPF stuff is trying to give people the best opportunity and the fastest way to get their health in order to control everything around them and to really fast track the way the crow flies. Stop taking these sidesteps, stop taking these Left turns or these right turns going backwards, two steps forward, one step backwards. We're all about delivering the best information that's available and treating everyone, their bio, individuality, as their individual selves. We're there to try and give them the best outcomes in the shortest amount of time possible with the best information that we've got at our fingertips. People have so much going on in their lives and if they can engage with us and able to get the best information and fast track their health and their wellness and their family and the people around them, their health and wellness and give them the right information, this is gold. This is a golden handshake for everyone. And so people have short term, medium term, long term stress and the short term stress is like an adrenaline hit. And if that constantly, if they're combating or they're fighting against things that they're not dealing with on a day to day basis that then enhances an infection, viral, whatever it is, they get dilation of the pupils, they get increased heart rate, their heart rate variability is all over the place. It doesn't allow them to focus so much. Their whole system starts to be impacted again back to the systemic effect. Then their sleep goes to shit, their nutrition goes to shit, they fall off the wagon. And then they start to make excuses and then they start to tell me why they didn't achieve the result in two weeks, four weeks time.
It's bullshit.
The numbers don't lie. And again, when I ask people about the numbers, throw me your numbers. What are you doing? Are you sleeping properly? If you're not, what have I taught you to do before you go to sleep? Have I told you to drink two beverages? Have I told you to drink more water? Have I told you to turn off all your devices an hour before you go to bed? Have I told you to do a three to five minute breathing session? Don't bullshit to me about or make excuses why your sleep's not that good and it's not improving when you haven't implemented the tools that I've already gone through with you. Just yesterday I was working with a client and all of a sudden, over 18 months I've been working with him saying we've got to get your protein right, We've got to get your protein right. He's 74 kilos. I don't know why I' increasing weight. Are you following the program? Yeah, I followed it one day. I'm saying we're now 6 12, 18 months in the program. Do me a favor, follow it for two weeks. If you don't achieve the results, the single result that I want you to achieve, then you know what? Give me a mouthful of cheek, whatever you want to do. But don't sit there and bullshit to me time and time again that you're not getting a result or make an excuse. You're not getting a result if you're not following the program. Because you know what? In two weeks, if you're not getting a, I'm going to turn the dial up or down, I'm going to change what I'm doing, and then if you're not getting a result, then I'm going to turn the dial again and I'm going to make the changes. Don't expect change straight away. But I'll tell you what, don't expect change if I'm telling you what to do and you're not implementing what I want you to do. Guess what happened Five, six, seven days later. He's following the program. He's put on a kilo of muscle. How do you do, like, shit? Like, what do you need to do? Do I need to grab him by the ear? Do I need to push them into the food that they need to eat? Do I need to literally make a call or go into their bedroom and make sure that they're doing their work, that I'm trying to get them to do? Like people, sometimes it becomes frustrating when you give them the most simple things in life, and yet they're still putting brick walls up in front of you and they don't want to make change. Like, I just don't understand what it is that people don't want to get the best advice that I can give and expect a different result, yet not implement what I'm telling them to do? This is why, when it comes down to, I suppose what we're talking about before we got on this podcast, Al about the COVID stuff, it's like there's so much mixed information out there, and whether you're for it or against it, it doesn't really matter. At the end of the day, you want to actually act upon what you believe is right now. At the moment, I don't know whether you're Arthur or Martha with the information that we're being delivered. So one minute you want to do take AstraZeneca, the next minute you want to take Vizor and whatever else, and the information that's been given because it's coming from the heads of our government, one person saying one thing and the other person saying another thing. And then four weeks later, there's contradiction. Now, that's really hard to take and it's really, really difficult to know what to do. So then there's confusion. This is what's happened over the last 10, 20, 30 years with our nutrition, with our emotional stuff, with our physical stuff. There's so many different protocols out there. But let me tell you one thing. I'm not going to give you incorrect information. I'm not going to give you contradicting information. I'm going to give you the best information and I'll back it up. And I will constantly keep chipping away at you, chipping away at you, chipping away at you until you get the ultimate result. And that's going to be a better body, a better health, better blood work, better body composition, better emotions, better sleep, better everything, better choices when it comes to nutrition. I'm giving you this information so that you can implement it. And if you've got, and if I look at it one week later and it's not moving in the direction I want, well, then I'm going to change it. I'm constantly working on you so that I can give you the best possible outcome that information can provide. That's what it's about. Yeah, it's just, again, it's frustrating when you're trying to give people the best information, yet they still don't want to implement it. I don't mind if they don't implement everything that I'm giving them within one week. But you know what? Over four weeks, the information that I'm going to give you, you need to implement it. Let's trial it, let's see what the result is and then let's make the adjustments as your body adapts.
Yeah, definitely, mate. Creating that certainty, you know, through your field of expertise and going, hey, if we just fucking do the work, this is what will be provided as the likely outcome or a high success rate of achieving that. And that's the hard part. Ken, on the flip side of emotions and stress, when people have emotions and stress control them, what it does, it creates a story and agenda or narrative inside of their own head. Like that bloke who hasn't followed any of what you've said the way that he should have dibbled and dabbled, but for 18 months and all of a sudden it's like, well, fuck, mate, get rid of the stories and the emotions because everyone. You guys listening to this, watching this, other fathers, you've all got chaos, we've all got chaos and stress. There's plenty of shit to worry about. So when you've got someone in your corner who's doing the heavy lifting for you, with like Ken as our energy coach, that's done, mate. Just fucking execute. It's that simple. And with that trusting the process, whether it's your sleep, whether it's your breath work, I mean, some of the stuff we're tracking, Ken, is phenomenal, mate. The way that we're going to be able to really determine your emotional state, your stress levels, the good and the bad, how to alter and adjust that, when to push, when to pull back through. Tracking their heart rate variability, their readiness scores, their sleep scores, obviously, tracking their steps, their protein. It's so simple, to the point where even our HPF dads that we have in our platinum program, when I've sat down and gone through my alignment sessions with them, it's like, mate, this is it. These are the three to six things that we're going to track. And what we're going to do is prioritize them from 1 through to 6 and that's it, mate. When you hit that and own those areas, we're going to have data and we're going to have facts and information. And that's critical, Ken, for creating trust, but also for us, for you to have certainty in your delivery. Because, you know, you shit. For me to have certainty in my delivery and what we do with these fathers and working with so many over the years, it's because we're collecting the right data, we know our shit. And we've not only. It's not even a testing process, it's going through and getting that feedback and working to the end game or the end result of what's going to provide the greatest approach to, like I said, body composition. We're tracking their blood, their biomarkers, their DEXA scans, their movement assessments. Everything we do is for the entire organism. So you listening to this or watching this as a fucking organism, as a human being? Let's look after you. And a large part of that is the emotional and stress side of things. Yes. It ties into, like you said, chemical and physical and other things. And if you don't have the answer, that's cool. Just like what you mentioned with that, from the government point of view, I don't trust any of that sort of shit, mate. There's no way that I'm going to take a vaccine, Ken, because they've got no fucking idea what they're talking about. And you can have your own opinion on this and that's cool, I respect that. For me, it's not an opinion, it's on observation of actions and looking and going well. I'm going to control what I can control. I'm going to make sure I've got plenty of vitamin D, vitamin C, look after my health, my well being and I don't need that shit in my life right now. If that means that I'm going to restrict myself with travel and other things, fucking so be it, mate. I'm more than happy to provide a pathway of leadership through my own actions and what I'm doing for my life and looking after my health the right way. Because you know what Ken? We do have the fucking answers, mate. Because we've done this stuff before and you know, we have the pathway and the opportunity not just through physical and chemical, but through tapping into the emotional side so you can regain control. Not only have your belief systems, but applying that belief system into the version that you want to become. That's what I'm seeing most Ken, and obviously Ken, on your thoughts and feedback on that and you work with that too. The belief system that we're starting to see in these HPF Platinum guys is hey, to the workman, this is possible, this will be the outcome. And for me, with some of the consults I've done with these guys going through their onboarding and building foundations, it's like the light bulb, mate, it just fucking lights up. You can't have that on your own. It's amazing.
What's really impressive and again we're out there trying to be the leaders in what we do in health and wellness and everything else. The reason why I try and strive to be the best I can be because I know that every day for me when I get out of bed, life feels great to me. And then when I look at other people that are constantly not really feeling as good as they should be, or they say that they have pain within their day to day or they have stress within their day to day operations, whatever else. And I get it that some people, and potentially after a big workout, maybe the workout that I've given you hour and crush you from one day to the next only because I know you can do it and your body's conditioned for it, I can give you those types of workouts because gone down and spoken to you and really on a one on one and at a very deep level we've understood how your body or where your body's at now, physical, chemical and emotional, so we've tapped into those different areas and what's so important is to be able to understand what area to tap into when someone, when I'm having a conversation with someone. Again, we've spoken about this in the chemical side of things, but also the physical side of things. If someone's coming at me and they've got a weight issue, but really it's not the weight issue, it's more the emotional side of things that we need to sort out for them. That's the area that I kind of really focus on. And this is where it really becomes important. And so that we are the frontiers, we are leading in what we're doing. The Wim Hof method is better known as the Iceman. His breathing technique, he has created kind of the evolution around science and what he's done within his methodology. And it's not new what he's done, but he just brought something to the surface with thousands of years of research. But he's been a leader and been not a follower and he's gone out and he's basically created his own breath work, the Tummo breathwork method. And within what he does and where science didn't believe, they thought it was all just bullshit with what he did, they injected him with E. Coli and where it would create a fever and would create vomiting and diarrhea and everything else. And he proved to scientists and everyone else that were pushing every possible wall or building a wall up against him saying it's not possible, it's not possible to be able to beat this stuff just through breath work. He actually proved them wrong. Guess what? Science has now been rewritten around what he's done. Now when we start to stress on our day to day basis, like I said, stress can be good, stress can be bad. We have good stress. When we have good stress, we work out, we increase cortisol levels, we stress the body and at the end of it we get the dopamine hit. We think great or we might be getting the dopamine hit because we're going to do a great workout because of, because of you working out with a friend, a mate, a partner, a group, whatever it is. And then all of a sudden you're training that body continuously to be able to get better, to perform better, but then to be able to feel better and to just to kind of become a better person yourself. Now getting back into what Wim Hof has done, he has now when you think about it, because of our lives are so stressful, he's created this breath work that which is 20 or 25 or 30 breaths where you do very big deep breaths. In like in through your nose, out your mouth. And what it does here, it trains your body to deal with a high level of stress where you're producing more adrenaline. And then when you get some kind of viral infection, your body builds up your immune system, increases your immune system to then help fight off that bacteria or that virus that's coming into your body. And he's proven it and they're rewriting the books around science, around shit. You can through breath work, no drugs, just through breathing and a certain breathing technique, we can now strengthen our immune system. Now your first brain being your gut and your immune system then sends messages, it's a two way highway. Sensory everything coming in. Yeah. And then your motor control in the other direction being the pathway that kind of senses all of these things and strengthens your immune system just through breath work. Do you think a nice relaxation, breath work that I'll give you three to five minutes is going to make any change on your immune system, on your sleep patterns, etc, etc like these things are so powerful. And that's why I constantly am on top of trying to get the best outcome for every individual, whether it be physical, chemical or emotional. So this is why when I'm giving you some kind of method or some kind of technique to use, don't stuff about and play with and think, yes I'm doing it or I'm not doing it and expect a different result. Bloody implement what I'm giving you. Give it a chance to work. One day is not good enough, one week is still not good enough. But give me four weeks, eight weeks, 12 weeks and I promise you you will see results like you've never seen before. And that's why when we talk about people getting stressed and the adrenals and there's a kind of a saying out there that my adrenals are burnt out. There's no such thing as your adrenals burnt out. What it actually is, it's known as adrenal inefficiency syndrome. Your adrenal glands have the ability to operate for the next 200 years and you're not living to 200. Although the way you and I go now we may be 198, so especially implementing what we're doing. But this is the type of stuff that you need a really simple and basic. And don't look for the alternative things and don't look for the quick fix where the quick fix is natural, the quick fixes at your fingertips and it doesn't bloody cost you a thing. We've all got a Bit of time. Just try and implement the things that we're talking about and we'll dive a lot deeper into the breathwork and the different methods that we can introduce down the track. And then again, if your sleep's better, then your emotions are better, then you're making better choices with your food. So all of a sudden we're now overlapping with the physical, chemical and emotional. So this is what it's about, making change and let it become habitual and then it really does make a difference within the wellbeing of your overall health. They're the important things.
Yeah, man. That all starts with a belief system. Like if you have your belief system together where you're going, okay, cool, this is what I'm going to be invested in. Which then in turn becomes how you control or pull the levers on your emotional and stress markers and of life. It opens up the opportunity to create your pathway. And this is the key thing, Ken, and what you've explained, like science, people in science who try to play God are fucking idiots and no disrespect to them, there's some great breakthroughs, but ultimately when they pull it apart and look at the atomic level, they do themselves in. Ken. Instead of looking at the whole, like someone, like Wim Hof does or one of the scientists, and he's a biologist and he started with chemistry, but then he pulled chemistry, but then he pulled into biology. His name's Robert Lanza and he's disproved many of Einstein's theories. For that reason he actually went to the organism as a whole. So instead of talking about specific little, little nuances around formulas and all that sort of shit. And that's not. Obviously Einstein's done great things as well, but he disproved several of his theories through actually looking at the organism as a whole and through different tests, not that he started them, but through breaking them down. Like the double slit theory, consciousness, observation, all the different parts that looks at the organism as a whole. That's what I love about your approach and what we do here together as a whole. Let's look at the moving parts and let's improve the fundamental natural elements that make you who you are and what you're connected to. In daylight, in breathwork, breathing, in quality water intake, in quality protein intake. Okay, have protein. What's the quality? What's actually in there? And looking at it as a whole, I mean, can you. And as we start to wrap up what's been an amazing session, mate, definitely some golden nuggets for me. I'LL listen to this one again for sure. But you guys listening to this or watching this? Just take a moment and just digest a little bit of what we're talking about here and especially what Ken's talking about. Can you start to see that when you have the right tools in place and one of those tools is having coaching and that sounding board, can you see how you can create a shift in your emotions and your stress and your chemical levels to bring together the whole unit of your life instead of just joining a fucking gym and trying to train four days a week to lose that pot belly that you've got, which ultimately is hiding some probably more chronic and severe underlining issues. Because as you know, Ken, and we're obviously connected, mate. Life is connection. What coaching is, is a deeper pathway to help you connect to yourself at a greater level. That's what it is. Like, we're asking questions, we're getting data, we're giving feedback, we're applying tactics and strategies and tools. We're building the foundations. We're tapping into your emotions, your feelings, your stresses in life, obviously your chemicals in, how we track certain tests and whatnot. Then obviously the physical side of things and how you perform, the nutrition, the gut brain, the primary brain, like when you have that, you are being given a deeper pathway of connection yourself by having a different person give you those observations and facts and helping you find your own facts and a high level of truth? We say that, Ken, you know, the truth always wins, mate. And it does. Eventually it does. And when we're kicking back, when we're into our, you know, 150th year together and 160th year mate, living as old, balls still clean and jerking and throwing the barbell around. It won't be any secret to go, you know what? We went back to the root cause of what all evolution of life entails, which is looking at the health of the organism as a whole. And a large portion of that is what ties into chemical and physical, which is the emotions and stress and how to handle and deal with that. As we start to wrap this up, is there anything else you wanted to add to this episode or anything else you wanted to shed light on? Ken? It's been a bumper, mate. I've really enjoyed it.
I think one of the big things is that when we talk about the whole body, it's really about body and mind. It's like it is connected, the whole lot. And that's where people kind of haven't really, or they don't know a lot about the body and how it works. The thing is, when you breathe correctly, it has a massive impact on your digestion, it has a massive impact on your posture. It just has a massive impact on everything that goes on, the mechanisms from at a micro level. And people don't understand the importance of that because we now become in the 21st century, we now become much more sedentary in our lifestyle because we're spending more time on technology, et cetera. And it really, really is about understanding. If you look back and I know, hey, listen, we're not cavemen and we're not going back 1,200 thousand million years ago. But what it's really about is think about what we're designed for, what the body's designed for. It's about moving, it's about breathing, it's about if we don't have oxygen, we inhibit or restrict the amount of oxygen going into our body because of sitting down on computers or not moving. Then really life is about breath. Life is about oxygen. You stop breathing, how long can you survive for? Well, guess what? They reckon the brain stops at anywhere from three minutes thereabouts if you're not getting any oxygen, whatever else. But mate, I can prove to you within no time until I can hold my breath for 4 minutes 50 through using methods of what Wim Hof and Patrick McKeon and whatever else, some of the world renowned breath experts and where all the research is going. So really at the end of the day, what's really important is about not doing everything. As in when it comes to nutrition, it's not doing everything and trying to do everything with exercise and expecting a different result. It really is about trying to do a little bit of many things, not just everything about let's just get your diet right, but not exercise or not work on the emotional side of things. Let's just, you know, like people don't understand. It really is about sculptoring the masterpiece. It's about working on little bits at a time and knowing what tools or what levers to pull depending on the situation you're currently in. And that's why over the days, the weeks, the months that we work with you, it's about giving you all the tools so that you can fast track or you can turn to the toolbox and grab the right tool out that you need to use in that particular time or stage of your life. That's really what's most important. And people really need to understand that if you're emotionally upset or you've got a lot of Shit going on in your life, maybe it's not the best thing to go in and do the workout. Maybe it's the best thing to just take some time out and do a bit of breath work. Because when all of a sudden your emotions are absolutely shit and your adrenals and your adrenaline is pumping and the heart rates increase, you shouldn't really be making executive decisions. This is where the emotional stuff kind of takes over and then that's when you fall off the wagon. But that's that short term stuff. And when it comes to the medium term stress that the body kind of entails, days, weeks, potentially months, that medium term stress, if all of a sudden you can turn to your toolbox and go, you know what, I need to kind of grab onto that tool and I need to start doing a little bit more walking. I don't need to do the really high level intensity workouts. I just need to go for a walk in the morning with my wife, my partner, whatever it is, or spend a bit of time two days a week and on the weekend with the kids and the wife and go out and have a nice lunch and then spend a bit of time in the park, go out in the country, experience kind of whatever it is that you need to do. But it really is about knowing, don't throw all your eggs in one basket. Get all the information that we're delivering so that you can then pick the right tool up out of the toolbox and use it for the current situation you're in. And that's what we're all about, giving you everything that you could possibly do and giving you the education around making the right decision depending on the circumstances.
Yeah, bang on, mate. Bang on. I mean, you know, I call it the linchpin, right? What's the linchpin? What's the one thing if everything in your life stayed the same? This is another way of asking the same question, Ken. If everything in your life remain the same, your actions, what you're currently doing, Cool, like a stereo mixer, everything stays the same. Awesome. So where's the one spot where we just buy a little bit of extra effort and that will yield the greatest return on investment? Where's that roi? Let's go hunting. Let's go hunting life together and finding a solution together. And it's crazy, mate. No matter how big, the greatest challenges, the greatest problems, the greatest adversity that you will ever face is always counted with the smallest possible solution. It's always the smallest step. People think I've got this huge issue out So I need a huge solution to fix it. No, you don't. You just need this one small little step to initiate that perpetual motion. The machine that you'll build momentum on, that's going to then kick start the next one. The next one, the next one. Perfect example. There's dominoes. I saw a video, it was in Europe, I think. This guy kicks off a little domino mate, the same size as an iPhone, and by the end is fucking massive. It would have been probably six stories high. And it wasn't that many dominoes, because the sequential order, like I said, of small solutions, one at a time, pure maths from dominoes can knock over the next object with the force and velocity 50% bigger than itself. Which means after 11 dominoes, you're talking about, you know, having the Leaning Tower of Pisa. After 37 dominoes, that's the distance to the moon. People won't believe it. It's fucking crazy. It's in a great book by Gary Keller. The one thing that's what it's about, that's sequential order. This huge thing everyone was around just went completely shattered to pieces. And it was awesome to see because that's what we build, mate. Just one little thing at a time. No matter how great the challenge or the roadblock, you think through your emotions, your belief systems that you're facing me. It's just one little tweak and fucking go. All right, hit that now. Let's make that part of your habits. Let's make that your belief system and then build from there.
Yeah. Well said, mate. Well said.
Yeah. Love it, mate. Awesome episode. Great to connect with you again, Ken, and love the fire as usual, man. It's epic to see that. You know what we. I don't think. I don't believe that you and I are conventional, and I'm happy about that. There are great traditions in life, Ken, but at times, I do feel like, through the perception of what's standard, what's average, what the norm is. I do feel like we are outlaws at times, but I'm happy to be that because fuck that. What's the standard that these guys want? You listening to this? What do you want? Do you want to be standard? You want to be average? Like you're willing to accept average inside of your own body, your mind, your household? But does that mean when you go out for dinner, you go to the waiter, hey, I want the most average meal. You go and get your car washed, hey, can you please give me a very average car wash? Someone greets you when you Go to a store or a place of service. Hey, g'. Day. I'm just looking for someone to give me really average service. No, you want all the fucking bells and whistles outside of your life. And you want to feel like you're important and you've got that significance. But it starts first and foremost inside of yourself. And that's what I love, Ken. Like, I really feel. And it's not that we're reinventing the world, but our approach and how we do this. I definitely believe that we are pioneering a space that hasn't been entered or seen before, especially for fathers to stand up and help them become leaders in themselves, their households and our society the right way.
It's exciting, mate. It's really. The journey is so exciting and it's great talking to the dads that I've been working with and the gratitude for me and the reward for me is when I sit there and go through and explain the different scenarios and what tool we can use at the current time. And then all of a sudden you just hear this sigh of relief and that's the reward that I get this sigh of relief and go, mate, this is just so simple, isn't it? Like, why couldn't I. Why didn't I learn this earlier? Why has it been so complicated? And this is why, again, it's just so important to really, really understand what you're implementing so that you can just create a better person, a better outcome.
Absolutely, mate. And that's a very fulfilling thing. That's evolution. You talk about different stresses and different tactics depending on short, medium, long term stresses and emotions. And everything operates at a specific vibrational frequency. And when we can create that inside of yourself. A lot of the times, mate, it's the simple things, diving deep into them and building that connection which you can never have alone. It's impossible. It doesn't work. Which is why I also love what we do. And as we do, mate, we move mountains for these men and we move it with them as well. And it's awesome. So thanks again for joining us, Ken. I love our Tuesdays, mate. They're awesome. Looking forward to. Looking forward to the next one. And thank you guys for joining us. Hope you enjoyed this and got a lot of value out of it. Tune in again for another episode soon and make sure if you need to follow through and listen to this again, please do so. But by all means, do the best thing afterwards. Take action with it and apply it to your life right away. Thanks again.
Brilliant. Thanks, Al.
1,000 minutes a day. It's a lot but when you're wasted on shit that doesn't serve you or move yourself or your family forward you are bleeding the most valuable resource that you and I never get back. How much time do you think you have and how much quality do you think you've had? Don't be a fool like the masses thinking you're cheap the system or get round to it one day or worse just accepting life and sinking back into a slumber of regret this is your moment your time. You're cut from a different cloth. You have the hunger and desire to be more and live more otherwise you wouldn't be here. So stand up find the golden nuggets in this episode you just listened to and align immediate action with them and where you want to go you are worthy. This is your life. You are the king and this is your kingdom. Now go and claim it by showing not telling and be the real leader you and I both know you were born to be.
