Ken Lavander talks about building change from the inside out by aligning emotional, physical, and chemical health. He emphasizes coaching relationships, how environment shapes behavior, and parenting as teaching life skills like cooking. Small daily actions like journaling and goal-setting matter more than big plans.

Welcome to another episode of Real Dad Movement podcast. The point and purpose of these episodes, as always, is to have a point and purpose towards helping you win the second half in life by building a path of becoming the best father, husband, man and member of your community that you can be. We do this with various ways of connecting. Life is connection. And as you hear these words spoken time and time again, know that the driving force of connection in life is energy. Which means that how you turn up as a father, as a husband, as a valued member of society will always start and end with how you turn up as a man within yourself. First, this is why it's my mission, my purpose, our mission, our purpose through Real Dad Movement to inspire, motivate, educate, and guide you into thoughts, feelings, actions, and a change in your belief systems to rise up, cut the shit from your life and live and leave a real legacy. When dads win, everyone wins. And when you win, I win. Let's get moving forward, mate. Right here, right now, From the inside out, another episode brought to you by Mr. Ken Lavander and myself. Ken, welcome. Thank you for joining us.
Welcome, Al.
It's great to be here, as always. Just rolls around, doesn't it? Feels like yesterday. It was last Tuesday. I was about to say. I was about to say it feels like yesterday it was Tuesday, but it's Tuesday today. It's from the inside out. We've got a great episode planned for you guys. Whether you're watching this on YouTube or listening on Spotify, itunes, the various platforms that we have our podcast, which is shit. It'd be close to 140 episodes nearly, I think, mate, which is pretty epic. So it's lots of words, lots of talking, lots of speaking, but it's the message behind this that really drives home the possibility for a lot of you men who are stuck in your own way, stuck in your own thought patterns, stuck in your own identity cycle, where ultimately you're left isolated, in a state of just thinking this is what it is, or it must be this way, or it needs to be this way and just accepting. Let me be crystal clear here. Just because it's normal or common doesn't mean it should be appropriate for you in expanding and growing. Doesn't mean it should be accepted either, or it doesn't mean it should be the standard that you believe in or tie yourself in into. We're not here to elevate ourselves above anyone else. What we're here to do is be critical thinkers and feelers inside of our life and our emotions. That's important that drives us. But as I was chatting with Ken and he mentioned this, life is a gift, it absolutely is. So don't cut yourself short and be someone who just follows the suit of the masses without being a critical thinker for yourself. Remember, you do have free will. And the irony, Ken, with a lot of people is they use their free will to forfeit their free will, which cracks me up a lot in many different situations and circumstances. But nonetheless, this episode is about you educating yourself and then applying a level of action and having the right environment to really work from the inside out and recognizing the gift that life is and to triage the areas you need to focus on to create not only big impact and changes, but sustainable changes. And I guess the term Ken mentioned this as well. And we're just chatting inside out. The movie, the animation, the Disney movie. It's fascinating and, and it's really interesting to see some of the visual aspects of what can be going on on the inside. But for a lot of you, man, if you say chaotic and stress driven in life, you never stop and see it. You can't, you're just in autopilot. But Ken, mate, let's kick this one off from the inside out, mate, let's get cracking on into it.
Yeah, no, mate, it's good. And like I said, and also yourself there with the movie Inside out, it was just extremely well thought out with that. And you take a really good snapshot of what's going on there. And when they created that movie, it was a great family movie so that people could really see what's going on from a mindset point of view. Not so much the physical, but definitely the emotional side of things and how that affects kind of each and every, I suppose, situation that you're in, no matter what your thought process is, you're actually tapping into that. So the question out there is you don't really know what you don't know. And so what we're here to try and troubleshoot and find out what works for you as the individual. And so as we start to tap into every one of those individual pillars being the physical, emotional and chemical, we're trying to work out what level at each one of those pillars are you at. And so I'm all about building you from the inside out. And so by gathering some of that information and knowing what makes you tick, knowing what motivates you, knowing what levers you need to pull for yourself, so that gives you the best outcome on a day to day basis. And that's where we'll go back into trying to guide you through the best information. And remember that information, the best information isn't always at the deepest level for you as the individual. So we need to kind of really tap into kind of what your lifestyle is or what evolves in what you've gone through in life and where you're at now and see who's on your side. Are you a follower or are you a leader? And that's why with the current situation that you're in, from your workspace or your business space, your family space, you need to realize what are the, I suppose what are the stresses that you have in your life? And we're trying to eliminate or at least to start with alleviating some of that stress. And so then that's where, when you're dealing with one of us as a coach, as a health coach, as a physical wellbeing coach, whatever it may be, we're trying to troubleshoot the best possible outcomes that we can get for you. And so, yeah, that's what it's all about, just finding the best information.
With that being said to Ken, finding the best information, executing on the best information. And then what you said in levers to pull, it's so vital, you know, like, you guys listening to this or watching this, like, man, you're going to blink and you'll be 60, you'll be 70, you'll be 80, if you're lucky enough to live that age, depending on what you're doing with your body right now and your mind right now. But ultimately, like you said, that really hit home with me, Ken. Life is a gift. You don't have to get up, you get to. And shifting your perspective around your position in this world, in your world, in your own reality is the very first step to reinvigorating and re empowering who you are, who you can be and the possibilities. But what's the kicker, though, in your experience, Ken? Because we can give information, we can knowledge, education, all those different things and give actions and whatnot. But what like you said from the inside out, where does it start? Like, what's your approach or what you've seen, been exposed to, an experience with, With I guess starting the mindset switch and igniting that flame again emotionally, helping people recognize their flaws or their assets. Like what? Where would you see someone starting? Yes, what we're going to do physically will change us mentally, but where do you see the best area to start with? I guess people's minds and their hearts to create belief and then start changing.
The emotional side of stuff is really getting the mind sorted right from the get go is what I see the most important thing. It's when I see people from a face to face point of view, one on one. I generally find once I build a relationship and they believe in me and what I can help them achieve, then it's really about getting their mindset in the right place. If all of a sudden someone's being sent to me by a medical practitioner because they have an underlying problem, whether it be physical, chemical or emotional, do they want to be with me because of their headspace says that they want to change themselves, want to make change, or is it because someone else has sent them to me? When someone else sends someone to me, It's a very, very lengthy process because I have to convince them why I can and how I can create change for them. This is about a journey. This isn't about a five minute, one hour, one week, one month fix. It's about changing their mindset, trying to clear the baggage that they've had in their past, what they've gone through, what the experience has been, what do they feel now and how can I change that? I need them to walk away with at least some tools that they can implement and I need to give them some positive feedback. I need to give them something that's physical, they need to be able to feel something that's physical, they need to be able to emotionally attach themselves to, whether it be some kind of breathing technique, take them through a situation that they've experienced where they've had bad emotional or been in a bad emotional state, and then showing them how we can implement tools to then create a better environment for themselves. What I find that a lot of people are dealing with at the moment is social acceptance. At the moment they're not really getting in front of people or they're not socializing with a lot of people. But when they deal with social media, when they talk about Instagram, Facebook and everything else and what other people are trying to do and what they're trying to aspire to, someone that may not align in their core values, their goals, their self beliefs and things like that. And so what they're trying to do is become someone or try and create something that doesn't really align them with their core values and self beliefs. So that relationship that I need to kind of chip away at, I need to earn someone's respect before they're going to believe in anything that I tell them. I don't care whether you can have the world's best trainer. You can have the world's best doctor, you can have the world's best. I suppose, what could I say? I'm just lost for words for a second. But the world's best programming, the world's best modules. But if your headspace or that person's headspace isn't in the right place at that time, you're going nowhere with this person. So that's why you really have to work with that person, potentially one on one at first, and then try and find people that have the same goals or at least align them with people that have the same core beliefs that they want to change within themselves. They are making the decision themselves to create that change. It isn't that they're trying to keep up with the Joneses or someone else is trying to tell them what to do. That is never going to work. And 99.9% of people, if someone else is directing them to me and they're not there because of their own willpower or their own ability to want to change, well, then it doesn't matter what I introduce, what I tell them, we're going sideways in a hurry. It's like jumping behind a speedboat on a biscuit or a tube and they're throwing you in a whip. And at no stage, everything that I'm trying to do and giving them the best information that I have from my knowledge from 20 to 30 years of experience, I cannot chip through that outer layer. I cannot get through that first layer of the onion or even the second layer. And sometimes that takes time. I'm now becoming the master sculptor to then chip away, chip away, chip away, to then build that trust in that person, to then give them some kind of reward, to then walk away and go, you know what, maybe this guy's not too bad after all. And the key is I've got to find something that both you and I can communicate on the same level. I've got to keep chipping away at you to find, is it having a beer down the pub, that kind of conversation, Is it maybe the sport you and I, that may have played sport together, or you've played sport like a full physical contact sport for the last five or 10 years or 20 years of your life and that relationship that you've built with your mates that you would give a vital organ, you'd give your kidney, you cut off your left arm for, you would travel a thousand miles because their car's broken down and they have no money, you would travel to do that. The relationship that if I Don't see a mate for 1, 5, 10 years. And all of a sudden I come into that pub and we have a beer, and all of a sudden you almost have tears rolling down your eyes. Because that's the bond that you build. That's what I'm all about, building that bond with people to get them to trust in my methodology into troubleshooting whatever it is that they've had a lot of physical and emotional stress in the past. To then build them from the inside out to then to be able to then build into the physical, the chemical side of stuff. But again, we always come back to that emotional wellbeing. We have to find what makes them tick.
Yeah, it's connection, isn't it? Like life is connection, Ken. And that was a great point you made there on. Sometimes you might not see someone for a long period of time. But what's the bond? What is the bond that you've built and the connection you made? And the same goes through. These are relationships, mate. Relationships with our clients, with our family, with ourself. And it's very frustrating, mate, when you look at people like yourself and I, who and many others who give and give and service. And we want to help others and we want to help. And it's frustrating when we can see the version that they can become, but they can't see themselves, which is okay. But they refuse to see what we can see, and they continue to see what they currently see, which puts them in the pit, in the vicious cycle. And it leads to baggage. Exactly what you mentioned there, mate. These people coming in with baggage. It's like you're letting past circumstances define your future reality all the time, sucking up the now that you'll never get back. And there's a great quote by. He used to follow Les Brown, a fair bit, great motivational speaker in the 80s and 90s, and a great point he always hammered down in virtually every single video is someone's opinion of you does not have to be your reality. And that's a very powerful thing because when you're talking about social acceptance, a lot of the times the baggage we're holding is baggage that doesn't even belong to us anymore. Ken. We've taken that off. The words, the black magic and the words that people speak or the energy people push onto us that actually don't have our best interests at heart. And then we make it our truth and we own that. I'm a very passionate man, and truth be told, I hardly ever swear, Ken, and I don't get feedback that often. But a handful of times I've gotten emails, love your stuff out, blah, blah, blah. But, yeah, you shouldn't swear. And I'm like, the word fuck is a socially created constructed communication or expression of my voice box opening up and speaking in a certain tone. Just like whistling or saying hello, from which we've created a belief system around what it actually means. Just like flipping the bird. Me and my mates in high school, we used to flip each other the bird all the time and laugh was actually a way of saying hello. Right? This is the thing, social acceptance. So, with respect, I don't swear around my family, definitely around my children. You know, we've all got. Not that we're chameleons, we've got different hats that we wear with different layers of connection. Just like my grandmother or my father or mother or my daughter or my son or you can. Or the men on the inside. So, you know, when these. When these people are chasing social acceptance through the eyes of others, they're saying yes to that, which means they're saying no to their own eyes and their own intuition and what they need to focus on, which I feel blessed for, because I don't give a fuck if people think that me swearing is an issue. Because ultimately, where we're going, Ken, is a phenomenal space where people see past and through what one word might mean inside of themselves. When they're saying yes to criticizing that, they're saying no to cleaning their own house, which means they're being a fucking hypocrite. So it's very fascinating when we look at this social acceptance as well as baggage, what we then have is a lack of identity where you're right, mate, we are very passionate. We want to help so many people, but you can't change them, can you? You cannot save. We can't save anyone. It's not possible. We can influence you to change yourself, to save yourself, but it has to be that way, otherwise we fall into the. Into the pit with them. We can reach an arm, a couple of arms, but we dive on in, Ken. It's a tough place to get out of, mate. And you're right, there are layers to this as well, where at times, like you said, people can have the best information knowledge in the world, but if they're not connected or if they're not in the right frame, they can't do it. It's not possible. But also what's fascinating is when people know, deep down at the core level, and this is what I mean by layers, that something needs to change. This is where we can come in. Let us be your environment, your eyes, and help you not actually think right now. And let's get you emotionally charged with focusing on the right things and then start tapping into the physical and chemical, because we know when we do that, that's going to change your belief system. So it's a fascinating dance, isn't it, mate? Between how ready someone is, or they know they're ready, or we don't even need them to worry about a certain area. Let's just trust the process and work through these key parts. And guess what? It's actually going to change you as a whole.
I'll tell you what's really interesting is that people are very quick to follow other people. You've got to have some kind of inspiration, like maybe whether it be a celebrity or whatever else. And it's really interesting because at the moment, like what I'm. I've got a book that I listen to when I'm traveling a bit on Audible, and it's by Robert Sapolsky. Sorry. And it's about life's lessons from the frontiers of science. And it's about the neurology. And he's a professor of neurology. And it's really, really interesting. And using this analogy, it's quite interesting how we become sheep, how we become followers. And just in one of the first subjects within that. It's funny. And I use this because of. I suppose this is one of the first subjects I've done. It's amazing how women, when they go into a. Say, for instance, a private school in a dormitory, and they're all living in a dormitory and whatever else, and they see how quickly we are to react. And when it comes to women, what happens is if the ladies in that dormitory, Whether they be 10, 15, or 20, you'll find their menstrual cycles all of a sudden become aligned with each other within one or two months because of this synchronization. Unless you have a partner, unless. And they've done this with pigs, with aromatization. And you can do it now. And it's crazy why you would do this, but how the body really quickly can synchronize with another body. And remember, you don't even have to talk through just body odour itself and through your pheromones and whatever else. You can come in contact with someone and it can create all sorts of foundational changes within your body, biological changes. So now if all of a sudden you align yourself with people like you and I and you start to be coached. You start to listen to the mantras that we create. You start to look at what's going on in and within your life, and you start to create those affirmations on a daily, weekly, monthly, yearly cycle. Then all of a sudden you're going to change your thought process. Hence why what's going on in the media, hence why I turn the radio off, I turn the news off. Because if they're constantly drilling bad shit into your head, then you've got to be really, really careful on how to decipher what good and bad information is. That's what's really, really important here. So if you can do that through just lying in a dormitory two or three meters from the next person, and you're associate saving yourself around other females or other male counterparts in a male audometry or a female audometry, all of a sudden, yeah, you have the alpha male and you have other things. But what happens is then you start to create or you start to kind of reflect those same traits. You start to become a leader and not just a follower. And so when we look at this, it's amazing how when we start to really start to dig deeper and deeper into our own physiology and who we align ourselves with and what we are constantly in contact with, it is really so important then to make sure that we write down our daily goals, our core beliefs, what our core values are, and then we instill them into our children. You look at your children, you look at yourself, you look at your habits. Are they good or bad habits? You don't know what your good or bad habits are like. Surely to Christ you'll know what a bad habit is. If you're drinking alcohol every night of the week, surely to Christ you'll know what your bad habit is. If you're smoking or you go from smoking to vaping, surely to Christ you'll know what your bad habits are. If you're eating shit food and it's not wholesome food. Now, if you don't realize that choosing those bad habits doesn't have a cellular detrimental effect on your body, well then let's be realistic. You're going the wrong way real fast. So that's why now you need to really sit back for 5 minutes, 10 minutes, and really look at what you're doing from your own health point of view. Look at what the problem is, look at what the cause is, and then try and tap into people like you and I to find out what the solution is or what your best plan of attack is. And this is why we need to know that at a foundational level, what are we deficient of? Are we deficient of just not aligning ourselves with the right friends or the people that we have day to day contact with? Where do we want to be tomorrow from where we are today? Where do we want to be in one year, five years or 10 years down the track? I know where I want to be. I know how I want my health to be. I am in control of that. Of course, if I walk out on the road today and I get hit by a car, well, then I am not in control of. But you know what, the things that I am in control of are my health. I make those decisions for myself and for the people that I care about that are around me, my family, my friends. Influence on health is absolutely my legacy for the people that I contact or talk to on a daily basis. And I am just becoming that master sculptor by chipping away, chipping away and giving them great thoughts on what they should be doing. What are the different things that they can do in their life right now, not tomorrow. Don't bullshit yourself and say, you know what, I'll get into that tomorrow or next week. What are you going to do right now to start changing those thoughts so that you can believe in yourself and then you can start to change your life? Six weeks is gone before you think about it. 12 weeks is gone, three months, then we're into three years and all of a sudden you think about if you've got children, grab a hold of a photo and have a look at what they look like 12 months ago and have a look at their physical changes. Have a think about that. For instance, you don't know what emotionally is going on with them. So look at their physical changes as in their facial expressions and their hair and then just their external expressions. But the problem is you can't see what's going on on the inside. So that's where that emotional stuff is. That's where you have to be very, very strong. You have to be sitting at the dinner table or the breakfast table or the lunchtime table to then start to talk, create conversation. You don't know what's going on emotionally with them, whether they're coping or whether not coping or how well they are coping within the current situation they're in, whether it be now, whether it be 12 months ago, or whether it be in 12 months time. The thing is, this is absolutely detrimental to not only you, but also the loved ones around you. And I'll tell you What? It's so important to spend that time right now to really find out what, what is most important and start making change. It's not difficult. You really, really start to need to have those conversations with your family, with your partner, with your children, and then start to create better kind of avenues for better health. And that's what it's about.
That's incredible, Ken. You know that. And yeah, thank you for the share. Like some of those physiological adaptations by being in someone's company. I remember hearing that about the. The women with their period and lots of different things that come together. Just like exercising with incredibly fit people and the microbiome and correct me if I'm wrong or whatever it may be inside the sweat. And it's a different type of sweat. And it's fascinating, mate. And then carrying that through to, I guess, essentially what you were talking about then, which is your environment. But this is the craziest part, you guys, you can turn it like that. Like, you can change, like Ken said, you can start changing. You don't have to wait a month, a week, or next Monday or just change it now, right now. Why can't you? Why not? You know? And then what we see here is a byproduct of the environment that becomes you, is actually something that you are continually influencing and creating. And this is the point. Same with your children, what Ken just said. Then you are a byproduct of your environment. The question is, are you powerful enough? Are you strong enough? Are you willing enough on the inside to continually expand and create instead of destroy so that you are an alpha inside of your environment that doesn't just mean people, places and things. It means internally your environment, the little voice inside, the judge and the victim playing two roles in you. I'll do a podcast on that later in the week and just really helping you help yourself by establishing a higher level of thinking, feeling, and an emotional upgrade from which you can start to invest in your physical and chemical health through the actions you take out there in the real world. Who do you think controls children's environments? You do. So when Ken's talking about this at the dinner table, breakfast, all this sort of stuff in your children as they get older, different hormones injecting different times, male, female, when this is happening, if you yourself do not have your shit together and you don't have a deeper, intrinsic, intuitive awareness of your emotions, how you carry yourself, call the spirituality whatever you want. If you don't have a level of depth to who you are in your character, how the fuck Are you going to see that potentially in your children in what they're being exposed to in environments you don't have control over? Which means, like Ken says, you don't see what's going on. You don't know what's going on. And how would you, if you don't even invest in yourself in that respect and build that skill set inside of you? Which becomes a challenging thing, Ken, because you're right, especially in these times and with respect, like if my daughter's about to start primary school next year, there's no fucking way I'm sending her. If every single child in kindergarten has to wear a mask, no fucking way. I am not exposing my child. And look, you guys can have your own opinions, that's fine. This is an opinion opinion, this is a choice that I'm making. Well, I know intrinsically with facial expressions, human connection, human movement together in how we connect and create and seeing someone in going into kindergarten in an external environment where everyone else is only showing eyes, there is absolutely no way remove the physical, you know, points that I don't agree on on my 5 year old wearing that. There is no way I will be sending my daughter in. And look, this doesn't mean that you guys are wrong if you want to do that. We've all got different positions, different circumstances. I'm in a position where my wife is a primary teacher. We've got an amazing team around us. I'm not working 80, 100 hour weeks. It's not a one man band inside of a high performance father program. We've got a phenomenal team. Absolutely. I will homeschool my child. And this is the thing, Ken. Being a visionary and having the foresight because of how aware I am in terms of myself, my experiences, my past, my environment. The environment. I've exposed myself to the good, bad and the ugly. I know exactly where that's going. With a massive disconnect if this becomes years of chronic disconnection in our children at such a critical age and time. And that's just one example, I guess when we're talking about being a byproduct of environment, another one is. Yeah, what you spoke about in your friends. I've only got a couple of close friends, Ken. I don't want little while or lots of fake friends. I can't stand that shit. I don't have time for that. None of us have time to do things we want to do, Ken, let alone do things that we don't want to do in case of conflict or walking on eggshells. Or upsetting something and fuck that you're going to lay back on your deathbed and go, geez, I'm glad I kept, kept up my friendships with all those people who really didn't like me and talked about me behind my back and wanted me to secretly fail, man. Who do you have to be upset with other than yourself from the inside out? This is what we're talking about, men. Really building a layer deeper, one at a time. It's a journey to yourself from which you can initiate the real version of who you want to become. Yeah, it's very important, isn't it Ken? Like this is life, man.
Absolutely, absolutely, mate. And the thing is, what you've got to be mindful of is just what's going on around you, the environment that you're in and what can you do to make change that's going to affect you, as in your health for the better. And that's what it's about. And like, you know, when I tap back into the problem, cause and solution, when we talk about the underlying pathology and things like that, really getting into the nitty gritty. If you think about this, for instance, and this is something that people really should have a hard look at when we talk about obesity rates and things like that in Australia. But let's just say globally, let's just not pick on any country, let's just say it's a global epidemic and we think about you as the cook, the leader or whoever the cook is, whether it's you or you know, being the father about the house or the wife or whatever, whoever you, a multitude of, you know, you share the cooking and whatever else. But the thing is, if all of a sudden you're the cook and you're not leading by example and you're not creating that environment and you're not educating your children around health and wellness and good wholesome foods and things like that. What kind of standard are you setting? What are you setting your children up for the long term, for the long haul. So in reality, if you really want to kind of dig a little bit deeper and think about this for a minute, child obesity is absolutely on the upscale. Like it is just ridiculous. So in reality that's kind of a low lying, I suppose, child abuse. It really is. You think about it because of what we're dealing with, of all these underlying issues and what the 3,000 different types of preservatives and everything out there with food colorings and all the rest of it. And it's going to link and they've got massive amounts of research and data there that's linked to ADHD and all the other types of underlying autoimmune issues and things like that. Yet they're allowed to advertise all of this stuff in front of us. And that's why not mentioning any names or anything. But really, this is now more important than ever for us to really think about. Okay, let's really be the leader in our household and start to get the kids involved with cooking. Like my daughter's 13 and my son's 11 and she can cook anything. And she has been able to since about the age of nine or eight. Like she cooks twice a week for us. My son, you know, she's been doing that for us for God knows how many years now. And my son, like, this is a great life skill to have. And so my wife and I, we lead by example. If the kids are there cooking the meals, they're appreciating what's valuable about that meal, what's value about the food, that they're using, the wholesome foods, what process the body goes through. When you're eating these nutrient dense foods, when you're eating, whether it be plant based, animal based, no matter what it is, they're understanding, it's an education, it's a life education. When they're in there involved, if they're cooking that meal with you or they're in control of that meal, that cooking, yeah, obviously looking out for all the safety aspects and whatever else, you're there controlling the stove and all of those other kind of danger side of things. But when they're doing that, I guarantee you 99 out of 100 of those children will sit down and eat that whole meal with you because they're expecting you to eat it, because they're the one that cooked it. Now, when you reverse those roles and they don't see what goes into the process, what goes into the food, well, then you're just throwing food on the table or you're ordering an Uber Eats or whatever else, and they don't understand what the foundation of that food is. How do they know or how many people, how many kids are resilient and they go, there's no way in hell I'm going to eat that. Or they're just playing with it and throwing it at you. As a baby, as a child, you'd be going through that now. But like, you think about that, for instance, that life skill, I don't know how more valuable that can be. Like, get him involved, get him involved. In like go out walking, go out exercising, get him involved, have a look at you, be the role model. And that's why when we talk about what are the problems in your day to day life, if you're not showing the kids how to cook, you're not teaching them how to cook. Don't just sit that meal on the table and expect them to eat it. When there's no love involved, there's no connection with that food, there's nothing there to connect that wholesome, that vitality that you know, where the plant come from, where that fruit evolved from, like that is just ridiculous. So then all of a sudden, 5, 10, 15, 25 years down the track when they really don't know where the food comes from, how it evolves and then we start to talk into genetically modified food. Is it grown in the fields or is it actually being created in a lab? Like this is the thing here. This is why we really need to give our children, the people around us, some really lifelong, in depth kind of life skills that they'll have for life. There's nothing more important than this. And this is why you can come around to my house when everything's opened back up again and I'll promise you that my daughter will cook you a meal that will have nutrient density, It'll have like taste. It'll have the body of what food really should taste like. And that's the difference. Like if I buy a takeaway meal, which I have, which was on Father's Day, we got Thai food. Yeah. It was incredible. Absolutely tasted magnificent. Guess what happened yesterday? I went to the toilet four times. Yeah. Because of Sunday night. Now to me, there's something not right in that food because my body doesn't need to go to the toilet four times. So listen, it's once in a blue moon. Like I said, 9010 rule or 955 rule to me. So that's important. Did I have some sweets? Yeah, but realistically, who made the sweets? My wife, My daughter made the sweets. We know what goes into that food, we know how important that is and we know that life skill, that what we've taught our children. So problem, core solution. The problem is if you don't know what you're putting in your body, how the hell do you know what the cause of bloating? Going to the toilet five times. You don't know what the solution is. I'll give you the solution. I'll teach you the life skills. I'll give you the information on how you can create a better outcome for yourself. And that's what we're all about. It's really about learning from the people that eat, sleeping and breathing it, living their life in an optimal way. And that's what it's really about. It doesn't matter what your foundation is now. I'm going to take you from where you are now to an incredible, over the journey of the next three, six, five months, years, whatever it is, to be able to then teach you those life skills. And it doesn't matter whether you're 40, 50, 60, 70, bodies will adapt very, very quickly. Like we're talking about with the ladies that sleep in the dorm, whatever it is, where their menstrual cycle stays at a biological foundational point of view, you will change very, very quickly and you will have that skill then to then pass that on to everyone around you.
And there's a very obvious framework around value and that includes participation. Ken, you know, when you're looking at what you're teaching your children, how you're helping them move forward, and a lot of you guys just listen to that final piece of Ken as well. A lot of that comes down to valuing yourself and pulling on emotional triggers like what we're giving you here to open up your perspective and open up your eyes to I guess, seeing the possibilities. That can start with some very simple things. We're not saying you need to eat and live like a saint, but when you look at some children who are behaving in a certain way where they are physically, chemically and emotionally out of whack, all you need to do is go upstream and look at the source and who is it? Of course it's the parents. Like any parent who says raising kids is easy, isn't trying hard enough, or they're giving them way too much technology and just letting someone else raise them. Because I'll tell you what, mate, one kid was hard. Three kids are hard. You know, like it's changed, of course, and we've gotten better. But yeah, having three kids is a nightmare. But it's very interesting when you talk about food and influencing environment to emotionally bring our children into being invested in parts of the day to day runnings of the household. Perfect example. This morning Stella wanted to. I said what do you want for breakfast? Because she doesn't like eating. She eats a lot, but she, it's always a hassle to get it at 8, but then she enjoys it. So it's really weird what she's going through and at the moment and actually eats well, mate, she's Strong. It's great. You know, it's just very interesting how picky she can be with food, which is, I guess, natural for a lot of different people and children. So I put it on her. Well, Stella, you're gonna help Daddy cook breakfast this morning. What are we having? What do you want to have? Do you want to have oats? I cooked porridge and oats. Had my protein as well. And. And, you know, she said, oh, and cheesy eggs. Beautiful. Got egg, a little bit of cream, little bit of cheese. Crack. She. She did the work. She cracked it in, made sure there weren't any shells in there, got her to whisk it up. I gave a little bit in, a little bit of butter in the pan. Bang, we're away. And. Because she made it and she was part of that. Exactly. He said, then, Ken, mate, she gobbled it down. I couldn't even believe she ate it all. Like, she. We cooked two eggs with. With the cheese, the cream, everything all in there together. And she had probably about one and a half, and the other half went to the little man. I gave the little man some. Some porridge as well. So he got some fats, protein and carbs and made. It was amazing. Like, Stella, she just smashed it. And that's a solid feed for a little girl to have one and a half eggs as well as we give her some fruit, too. And it was crazy to see how much she actually enjoyed it and enjoyed the process. And they're always doing that. I want to make Daddy coffee. I want to make Daddy a shake. Lily in the middle one, she's brutal, man. I want to make Daddy a shake. And there's just shit everywhere. I'm like. And I'm, you know, being part Virgo, I'm sort of almost a perfectionist. I'm like, I need this to taste the way I want and have what's in it. And he's trying to throw all this different shit in. I'm like, man, that's not going to make the shake that Daddy wants. Don't do that. Give him the protein powder. And she's, like, tipping it and half of it's going over the edge all over the floor. I'm like, holy shit. But I'm not going to kill the goose for the golden egg, mate, because we're teaching them. They're learning. They're learning even just skill sets like it. These are wins. I made Daddy a shake. That's a win for them. I cook this, I'm going to eat it. That's A win for them. These are all different metrics as we start to wrap this up that tie into the physical and chemical byproducts of having a sound and stable emotional investment inside of your health, your environment, what you connect to and what really becomes a part of your life. And no one is a better example than our children can because they're a blank canvas. So when you look at them, look straight at the parents, and it's hard. Look, we're not glossing this to be the case for everyone. There's different family dynamics, there's different circumstances, there's fathers who are listening to this, who maybe don't get to see their kids every day, day or every week either. And that's hard, mate. We empathize with and for you. But going to the core though, these are just examples of us in what we're explaining from the inside out of organizing yourself emotionally so you can be the best that you can be if or when that moment comes up with your children to create a new experience. And it always starts and ends with you. When dads win, everyone wins. How can we help you invest in yourself so that you can have a ripple effect to those that you love and care about. But. But it's been an awesome episode. Ken, anything that you want to close out on, mate, to wrap this up? I've really enjoyed this. Like all of them. Yeah. Some key takeaways for me on the emotional front too.
Yeah. No, the thing is, it's just really the most important thing is what we're doing and changing from day to day. It needs to be a realistic solution to what may be a problem that you have. And we just really need to kind of sit down and analyze what we're doing. Great. From day to day and where we're going kind of in the wrong direction. But at the end of the day, we're just trying to improve your quality of life and working on solutions that is definitely going to push you in the right direction is the most important thing. So let's just make sure that we really do analyze what we're doing and just look for the best outcome.
And that's all we can ever do. Because sometimes you guys listening to this and watching this, maybe you're not ready to apply to become a high performance father member. Maybe you are, maybe you never will be. That's okay. We're not here to push or pressure you. But you can always just start applying that. Application is key. You can always start doing something. You can start somewhere and you have that power. If you're still breathing. If you're still listening to this or watching this as well, you're still alive. So you still have a shot. You still have a chance to not even turn things around. I mean, a lot of the shit that I've done in the wrong moves and mistakes and all different bits and pieces, it's forged me into a better man, Ken. So it's not necessarily turning your life around. It's going, who am I going to become now? And who and what am I going to start creating? This is interesting, isn't it? Like, when we look at the terminology, this is just a revelation I'm having now. It's like we tell fathers to turn their lives around. It's like, well, hang on a minute. It's not about that. It's actually about learning from what's brought you up to this point right here and now, and then cutting the dead wood away that doesn't serve you, and then just start creating. So on the grand scheme of things, you can look over the span of your life on your deathbed and go, well, yes, I turned it around, but. But what you actually did is you cut away who you no longer chose to be and started creating who it is that you wanted to be. Thanks again for joining us, Ken. Awesome episode, mate.
Loved it.
Like always.
Brilliant stuff, mate. It's great to be here and it's great to share as much information as we can with people that really do care or at least need some direction in life to obviously optimize their health.

But when you're wasted on shit that doesn't serve you or move yourself or your family forward, you are bleeding the most valuable resource that you and I never get back. How much time do you think you have and how much quality do you think you've had? Don't be a fool like the masses, thinking you'll cheat the system or get round to it one day or worse. Just accepting life and sinking back into a slumber of regret. This is your moment, your time, you're cut from a different cloth. You have the hunger and desire to be more and live more. Otherwise you wouldn't be here. So stand up. Find the golden nuggets. In this episode, you just listened to and align immediate action with them and where you want to go. You are worthy. This is your life. You are the king. And this is your kingdom. Now go and claim it by showing, not telling. And be the real leader you and I both know you were born to be.
