HPF Coach argues that structure, not just discipline, creates freedom for fathers in midlife. The framework rests on three pillars: playing the percentages (small actions with big returns), declaring non-negotiables to build tenacity, and managing energy since time is fixed but energy is flexible.

Welcome to another episode of Real Dad Movement podcast. The point and purpose of these episodes, as always, is to have a point and purpose towards helping you win the second half in life by building a path of becoming the best father, husband, man and member of your community that you can be. We do this with various ways of connecting. Life is connection. And as you hear these words spoken time, time and time again, know that the driving force of connection in life is energy. Which means that how you turn up as a father, as a husband, as a valued member of society will always start and end with how you turn up as a man within yourself first. This is why it's my mission, my purpose, our mission, our purpose through Real Dad Movement to inspire, motivate, educate and guide you into thoughts, feelings, actions and a change in your belief systems to rise up, cut the shit from your life and live and leave a real legacy. When dads win, everyone wins. And when you win, I win. Let's get moving forward, mate. Right here, right now. Structure equals freedom. Jocko Willink is wrong. Don't send him this. He'll probably try and fucking axe me now. He's got some great stuff. And those of you haven't heard of Jocko Willink or even David Goggins, a couple of crazy, crazy men who certainly go all in on life. They have a phenomenal level of value. They've added to the world, they really have, but also what's important. Taking the piss out of him. I believe discipline does not equal freedom. You know, it's not necessary. Discipline equals freedom is a big catchphrase and obviously a war cry of his. And it's phenomenal. It's done amazingly well for him. But here's the key thing. You're a man and a father who's looking to adopt a different perspective with someone who's going to connect and align with you on the level of what's important for you, what's all in look like for you. What does it look like for a high performance father? Yes, there are extremes, there are athletes. I look at what people like David Goggins or anyone in the extremities of their field, obviously Jocko as well, have achieved. I'm not saying that they're bad men or wrong, but what. What I'm saying is when you say yes to something, you say no to something else. And everything has a price. Everything for me and for us and our message. You don't have to believe it. It's not an opinion. This is our truth. You must apply efforts of focus in Family, self and service. The three juggling acts. The juggling act, the three balls that we juggle in life to win and be a real high performance father and an upstanding man and leader in this soc as the legacy that you will leave your children when you are dead, just like I will leave mine when I am dead and I've bitten the fucking big one once and for all. Hopefully that doesn't come for a little while yet. Although one of our ads which has just hit a million views, man, there was some fucking savage stuff on there. I was very proud of that ad, you know that that's created a lot of impact and change for a lot of men who've taken that step and joined us. It's hit just over a million views, which is fantastic. You know, the more that someone sees about us one, the more that we shine the light on the truth that might expose some of their insecur. Which means they lash out for sure. But that's also the opportunity for redemption. We all look for this opportunity for redemption. You do as well. I do as well. We all do. To better ourselves, to the betterment of our children. Because who they get as a father is the hat that's going on. A man's head who leads the way. Your head? Yes, you. So if you haven't seen that ad of me in the car, don't scroll, don't. Don't scroll past it. Have a look at the comments. It's. It's savage, man. Far out. I. I laughed and then it. Some crazy stuff as well, but not that I'm laughing at other men's misfortunes. It's really just understanding that. Look, you know, I can't take these things personally. How can I? They don't even know who I am. They didn't even know what we do on the inside. They've probably watched 30 seconds of probably one of the most powerful 5 minute videos I've ever done, hence a million views and considered what I said. To pick apart the words that form up their narrative to begin. Throwing stones. This is the hard part though, man. When you're throwing stones or triggered and influenced the wrong way by someone who you don't even know, who could be thousands of kilometers away from you. That's the same fucking pattern that you're going to take as a victim to every other area of your life. How do you think that's going to turn out if you see that ad? Scroll through, have a look at the comments. And how do you think. Have a think about how Their fucking life's going. Their life is going away from which they actually choose, but they don't even realize it and they accept that and they must be happy. Although they cast the stones from a level of being a victim in casting judgment and placing judgment on things they know nothing about, but really, it's a reflection. Everything they project is a reflection of their internal environment. Their internal environment is one that's obviously in trouble. And I feel for these men. I really do. I do. I love that the members back me up and they defend me and sometimes they try and put those guys in their place. I'm humbled and blessed. Thank you. But even strangers who aren't part of our program, but you know, you got to do you, man. You've got to live your life and your life more often than not. If you've continuously listened to these podcasts, listening to me, and taking on board a lot of the different values that we have and the value that we offer with our free coaching group, obviously just type in High Performance Father Community in Facebook. It's a free group there. It's growing rapidly, organically as well, which is pretty cool. Obviously our YouTube channel, this podcast, there are so many different things. We give most of our stuff away for free, to be fair. In terms of helping you reposition your perspective, your mind to fucking win. That's what we're here for, man. So coming back for this nice little 5 minute intro on that one line. Discipline equals freedom. Being wrong. It's not that anything that you read is wrong. Like high performance habits or, you know, tiny habits and atomic habits and every fucking habit under the sun or all these other mindset books. The One Thing by Gary Kellis. Phenomenal, I must admit. That's. That changed my life. Incredible book. Incredible book. It's got to appeal and speak your language, man, and connect to you. A lot of these people with their vanilla approach might have some universal principles and you can pull some little nuggets out, but how the fuck are they invested in your life if they know nothing about what you're doing, where you are, who you are, or even some of the patterns that we all fall under as men making our way through the modern world, trying to win the second half, which really is one in a transitional period that can be up to 20 years from 33 to 53. Like, that's a big sweet spot, man. That's the most important 7,000, 305 days that you and I will ever have, regardless of whether you win. At 46, 48, it's setting a foundation from learning from the past, building towards the future, and not losing such a critical glue point which connects the front and back end of your life to go, hey, man, this is exactly who I am, where I'm going, this is how I'm going to liberate myself of all of the shitstorms we find ourselves in and the chaos that we find ourselves in, because I do as well. I'm no different to you. You know, when I say difference, of course, some of my actions, some of my habits, what I do, what I live and preach, which is backed up with practice, you know, you got to practice what you preach, otherwise you're a fucking hypocrite. Well, obviously that. That's inspiring a fair few of you, which is why you're reaching out, which is why we build this phenomenal community. So when I'm saying I'm no different from you, I'm saying that from a place of respect to go, hey, we're all fucking breathing air, man. We all have the opportunities. We all have the ability to find the right environment, to find the right coaches or men in our corner, to position ourselves with the right actions, to make sure, cut the bullshit and little voice inside, to make sure we create space and look after ourselves. We're both bleeding the same blood, man. But this is what I love most. Our message, which is why I don't work with anyone else, is so fucking deep. No one comes close. People skim the top. Lots of people see the tip of the iceberg. And many coaches now have stolen a lot of our things, and that's great, but they have no fucking idea what's under the surface, man, of what we do. But this is how. This is how and why I can keep turning up like, we're up to podcasts. Fuck, man. 153 episodes and they're not little five minute snipp. There's people. You have got 500, 5,000 episodes. Good for you, man. Your little four to five minute daily riff. Now, this is about really diving deep. And for you to get a phenomenal amount of value in what is generally an 18 to 40 minute, probably more towards the 40 minute mark, episode, that's going to help you first, create a state, second, open up your mind to the possibilities, and then third, start to find the building blocks of the patterns that pulled you down, which brought you down, let you down, and pulled you unstuck from where you wanted to be. To then go, okay, well, what do I need to then rebuild to get to where I want to Be and then back that with action. I really enjoy it. Like, I really enjoy these episodes. So it's not that Jocko is necessarily wrong when I say that, but this is the truth, man. For you and me as fathers, as men, with all the chaos, wearing all the different hats and doing it properly. So not just making fucking millions of dollars. I don't care how much money you have, not just having a six pack. I don't care what your fucking body looks like. I've been there, done that. The fittest man in the world in CrossFit for my size and height. No one came closer. But what does that mean now? All. I don't care how much of a family man you think, how much you love the kids, you need to have all three because they are all connected and it's not being disrespectful. But obviously if you're not. If you're not investing in adding value to the world, solving problems and helping developing that circle of service, you're going to struggle in terms of financially supporting and creating some level of stability in terms of the modern world in which we live in, with exchanging money for food, for, you know, obviously a roof over a head, for petrol, for fuel, cars, everything. But all of that comes back to you and looking after your physical health and energy. Just like loving your family. I love my family, I love my kids. I'm a great father. You may be. So to where you are now, I'm not saying this in a disrespectful way, and I'm going to go really to the extreme end of this example, just so you understand what I'm saying, But if you're fucking 250 kilos, mate, I don't care how much you love your children, you physically do not have the capacity to be able to handle the daily expenditure required of you to be able to be a father, support your children, engage in physical exercise and activity and actually have that gas tank mentally as well to handle the shit storms when they come your way, with your wife, with your children, with your work, with everything. You can't, man. The physiology purely says that that sheer mass is holding you back. It's fucking impossible, man. It's impossible. Do we have standards of 10% body fat? No, because we don't need them. We get you under 18%. That's fucking. That's awesome. Like, we get you under 18%. Some of our guys are already there when they come aboard, they've got different challenges. One of our guys owns one of the best boxing gyms in this country come to us for a different reason. Obviously he's fit as fuck. We're helping him in other areas of his life. Lots of different high profile men. But for our standard, yes, let's get you down under 18% because we know with that you have the capacity to perform your, you're operating with good chemical and emotional health because of what we do and you're moving forward. You don't need discipline for that. Over the long game, discipline, like self control is the initiator. How much discipline, Noel? How much do I need? How much do you need? This is the point. You may need discipline to start with and maybe there's a bit of a range or a sweet spot. You may need to be disciplined for a week, a month, three months maybe, I don't know. I'm not a very disciplined person. I look at myself and I'm like, okay, I'm going to expose myself or immerse myself or create and influence the right environment. If I want a chocolate I might get a small fucking Freddo, not buy a bag of 30. That's just a poor example. I'm not huge on those, but that's a very quick example you could probably all relate to. I'm going to control my environment to create non negotiables and influence my decision making process and then also make commitments and declare those commitments to my wife, my children, myself, the tribe, the coaches, so I don't look like a fucking hypocrite that lies. And then I'm going to follow through on those actions long enough with a period of discipline, with a portion of self control until bang, it becomes a part of your belief system. That's why habits have such a big range of 30 to 180 days or something like that. Or maybe it's 33 to 183, something like that in terms of scientific stuff, studies and blah, blah, blah. But when you look at it all, you need to peel back the layers and go, okay, well why is there such a big range? Why is there such a big sweet spot? Because a habit is purely a belief system, man. It's not about discipline or self control. It's about a belief system that says, this is my identity, this is who I am. How do we find out the best way to create who it is that you are? Like I said, have the right environment, have the right accountability, have the right game plan, align to it so there's an emotional attachment as well as a logical pathway to get there. You need both and then have that direction to go. All right, well, this is what I'm going to do. And I'm going to declare this. So I'm speaking and living the truth. I'm finding my future truths. I'm declaring my future truths because I'm not a fucking liar and I can't lie to myself and lie to all these other people. I need to stand up and own my truth and not pull the wool over my eyes, bury my head in the sand, sweep shit under the rug. I've now got other people that I'm creating these declarations towards for my future truths, which means I'll follow through. Social creatures. It's important. Okay, well, how do I create all of that out Structure, man? I know I talk about all these other different things. Like, performance comes off the back of systems. So the order of things, your behavior, so your mental attitude towards it. Frequency, how often you're doing something, that all dials into a habit. That's what we call the pattern of performance. That is one of our principles. Systems, Order of things is important. Behavior, mental approach, frequency. Not too much, not too little, just on the money for what you need for where you're at. Right on that sweet spot or that range that's going to suit. And then habit. Okay, I'm rinsing, repeating those first three. And it becomes a belief system. It is my identity internally and externally, because I've got the truth and the facts to follow it up. All of that is built off having the right structure inside of your life. That's a pattern of performance. Yes, you want to perform in life, but to perform in life, you need to build the structure, which means you need to set the base and set the foundation. When you do that, you will build a big fucking skyrise, man. I promise you that. I promise you that instead of building this big house of cards and then bang, she falls over at the slightest sign of stress. You need to build a massive foundation every year. And I'm not being arrogant, but every year I'm like, this is the year that we're going to explode. But I'm like, what? I used to just say it as a joke in a competitive way when I was doing sport and whatnot. Using the word explode is a good thing, but every year we just build a bigger foundation and we just keep chipping away. I mean, what we've done is phenomenal in serving and helping thousands of fathers now. But it's fascinating because every year we're like, man, look how much we've grown, how much we've changed, what we're implementing the stuff we're tracking, which we'll have a cool episode for you in just under a month's time, showing you exactly what we do in our high performance father program, which is very exciting. We'll have Adam, who's our head of operations and programming and culture coach. And Ken, who's our head energy coach, who's just a world class and he really is a world beater, just absolutely dominates for a 51 year old man that's just, you know, natural and jacked and in phenomenal shape physically and mentally. It's incredible, it's awesome. But we will dive into that in just under a month's time. I've got that booked in mid, early to mid December. This is what it's about, setting the right structure in place so you have that big foundation to then build. Structure equals freedom, man. Discipline is important. Self control is important. So as we extend this Intro out from five minutes to 15 minutes now, Jocko's amazing. All of these guys who've got runs on the board, they've shown not told are great. But what do you need? What do you need as a man and father between that sort of 33 to 53 mark entering or in the second half of life, I mean, we don't know when the second half is. I've already lost a lot of friends and people close to me who are between the ages of 16 and 35. So. Well, and a couple in their early 40s. So I guess a lot of those people's second half started between 8 and 18 years of age. You know, life is so temporary, man. Like structure is important because you know what, when you say yes to structure, you say no to fucking around, you know, And I'm not here, like I say, I'm not here to bark or stand on any high horse. It's just something I'm very passionate about and I do get emotional about it. But the reason why I can be passionate, I can be emotional, I can be optimistic. I'm incredibly optimistic. I see you for who and what you can become, not where you currently are. It doesn't mean that you're not enough. You're exactly enough. Because guess what, you're right fucking here, mate. So game on, let's go, let's get after it. But the reason why I can do that is because guess what, I've got the facts behind me. I've got the runs on the board to show it. Not here just for feelings. I'm optimistic because there's a recognition of action that's been taken. And that has led to a position to go, yeah, I fucking practice what I preach, man. I do it. Here are the runs on the board. Here are the results. Here's my life. Here's why I'm winning in family, self and service, in my relationships to those closest to me in my body and physical health, in my mental health, in growing my knowledge and expanding. You can see that. Go back to my first few episodes and then come to now Worlds Apart. Like, you'd be like, man, this guy's like, what's it's been, you know, since I started the podcast? Anyway, Podcast has been three years, nearly three years. We're in our third season. It's, you know, worlds apart. Worlds apart. I need to do a refresh on the first episode for an update for everyone because that is who is Alex Ranieri. So that's probably an important one to do every year, actually. I'll make a note of that and I'll bring that one out shortly and I'll let you all know when that's, when that's dropped. But structure, man, you've got to have people who are speaking your language for what is that you want. If you're a man listening to this and you don't think family is important, you don't think service is important, you don't think you're important, man, I'm telling you, you're going to go down the road where you're going to be fucked. And one day you'll have no meaning, purpose or fulfillment inside of your life because you've gone too far one way. You haven't invested in all three. You haven't been driving the pillar of life which is yourself to be able to connect to that which is closest to you in the value add to the world and your family and loved ones. You need all three. That's what you need to do. And you need to be what we need to do, what we need to be for us to win and leave a true and real legacy for our children when we are dead. And you can have all three. Very hard. Very hard. Not really seen it possible with anyone on their own. I'd love shares if any guys want to reach out. More often than not, you'll find that yes, there's personal success. No, there is no one who is self made, doesn't exist. It's why we have the tribe. It's why I'm committed and accountable to the tribe. I fucking love these men on the inside. Like it's, it's so good to See these guys and go, hey, this is the fucking standard. Now. You're living it. Now I need to make sure that I keep rising. So we all keep rising. And it's not just the Al show. That goes for all of us. The coaches got a phenomenal team, but we can't have any of this. You can't have any of this if you don't have structure. Three points we're going to dive into in this episode. Playing the percentages, non negotiables and time and energy. They're three key points that I just want to open your eyes to because a lot of you will be listening to this, going, all right, you've got my attention now. Okay, I'm game on, man. I'm ready. Okay. What the fuck do you mean, mate? How? It's all well and true to say what, but what's the why and the how? Why do you need structure? Well, do you need me to answer that? Think about the areas in your life when you don't have structure. Have a look at what structure equals. Structure equals freedom. But how and not how. I'll go through how in a minute. Why does it equal that? Well, it equals that because you get control back. It equals that because you start to dial in your focus and then pull in time and energy so that you're organizing the most important things in your life so you're not wasting fucking time, you're not wasting energy, you're focusing on the most important things. That's going to equal the greatest return on investment as well. Not just the most important thing. Just because. No, this is actually an investment in what I'm doing, in my health, my marriage. I'm invested in my wife. My wife is an investment to me when I have a wife at home who's looking after the children, giving me a love language of acts of service by organizing the chaos so I can go out and fucking hunt life with you men and we can dominate together and build a different perception, backed by actions in the world of what a father and man can, will and should be to set a new fucking standard instead of mediocrity, of all the bullshit that exists out there at the moment, especially right now, of people who fucking piss weak through their actions and not standing up and leading through showing, not telling through the right standards, of actually creating evolution in life by fucking growing instead just settling for the norm and the standards and accepting that although they won't, when they're looking for services like restaurants or getting their car cleaned or all the other bullshit where they Want higher standards, but they don't hold those fucking standards of themselves. We start to create a beautiful ripple. That was quite a long riff. When we do this together, we start to create a beautiful ripple, don't we? To our children, our children's children and people will never even meet, but they're bound by blood and related to us. When my wife. Getting back to the point, I've got a good memory, thank fuck. When my wife is doing that, I'm investing in her and her physical and mental well being so that I can get the ROI of going out and doing everything I just explained to you, which highlighted the problem of the world and the solution, which is us. What we're doing together. Even you right now, listening to this. Whether you ever come on board or not is irrelevant, man. You listen to this. You take action. You are a leader. You are exposing yourself to a better set of facts and then declaring future truths, which are the future facts off the back of the actions and the meaning that comes from it. And guess whose eyes are watching. This is why you need structure. Because like I said, from friends I've had who've committed suicide as teenagers through to good mates in their 30s and 40s who are now dead. Life's so temporary, man. How much time do you think you have? Because whatever the answer is, you're wrong. None of us fucking know. None of us. How much time you think you have? Well, I've got half an hour. It's not true. More often than not listening to this, you'll be alive in 35 minutes. 10 years. 30 years. Oh, I'm going to live to be 85. Are you? You sure sure about that? Go back to our last episode about the greatest gamble a man will make. You're making the gamble on yourself with variables you don't actually have any control over. Influence. Of course you can write yourself off, become a chronic alcoholic, drink yourself under the table and fall apart and destroy yourself. We're not about that and you know that. We're about controlling what we can control to create change. Positive influence and growth for ourselves and our families. That's why you need structure. Okay, Al? How? Well, start by playing the percentages. Because you know what? You're busy. I'm fucking busy. Bill down the road's busy. James is busy. Adam's busy. Zach's busy. Ben's busy. Luke's busy. We're all fucking busy. So guess what? If we're all busy, you fucking cut that out. Because then no one's busy, are they? Because if everyone's busy, then that means nothing, right? We're back on the level playing field. Get it? Got it. Good. Alright, let's move on. So none of us have time. When time rules us, we have all the time in the world when we are the masters and commanders of our ships. But there are so many different things every day, man, that try and come in and knock us off our perch, or sway and move and steer the ship. Sometimes you're in the storm, sometimes it's the current and the flow of the seas that tries to push you off course. This is why we're going through the Howes now. This is why we start with. So we've got playing the percentages, non negotiables, time and energy. This is why we start with playing the percentages. I need you to ask yourself, what's the 1% that I can invest 1% of actions? That makes 99% of the difference. What's the 5% that I do every day in my habits, my routines, my rituals? That will equal 95% of the reward. What's the 10% that will equal 90% of the result? It's all the same thing. Like a number's a number, but it's the truth. Like you've got to look at that. Not everything is equal. Not all actions that you do are created equal. They're not, man. They're not. Like I look at this podcast, right? I'm like, okay, what can I do? Like, what's the percentage of my effort in this podcast that's going to yield an ROI on creating impact and change? It's such a small thing. Like I do a couple of sessions a week, couple of podcasts a week. So if I've got 1,000 minutes a day, put that over 7,000 minutes and I do roughly a 30 to 50 minute session. So we're looking at one hour. So looking at 60 minutes out of 7,000, it's fuck all. Like, it's less than 1%, right? So this podcast is less than 1%. But you know what? Some of the greatest clients that we've gotten come on board have been men who are living and breathing the message before they're even living and breathing the message on the inside. And that's so fucking cool because I don't use this podcast to sell or push anyone. I mean, we've got nearly 50,000 downloads. Like, it's epic. I love it, it's awesome. But in terms of creating positive influence, forget about paying our fucking money and joining our group. What I'm talking about is there are so many men I'm never going to meet and this has created a positive influence and impact on their lives. And then yes, there are men who message me, email me and thank you all of you guys who contact and give us feedback for this. I am truly humbled by it. But this is what I'm talking about. Forget business or money or fucking memberships and programs or not. This is the less than 1% because as a man, it's very convenient, easily structured, connected to you listen in the car, walk at home, fucking anywhere at work. It's so dialed into your life and then in a way that's going to give you meaning and purpose and add value. Your words, not mine. I'm just chewing the fat to myself in the office that it does yield a 99 return on impacting, influencing other men's lives. That's fucking awesome, man. That's just one small example. Same thing. You can't go training seven days a week when maybe all you need to do is do meal prep Sunday arvo and Wednesday arvo and get 12 meals together. So you sort it for the week, which means all of your lunches, all of your breakfast and lunches are done. You save time, you've got time back by going upstream to the source of what's creating the environment to then really block. So your time blocking and meal prepping, that's another block you're building towards your nutrition pillar. Fantastic. You know, Maybe that's the 5% that's going to give you the 95%, not slogging your guts out two hours a day in a gym. You got to play the percentages, man. Ask yourself this question, what's the 1% that makes 99% the difference? So key things, waking up. Give yourself 15 minutes to wake up properly. You got alignment and you're priming yourself for the day. If you got a thousand minutes a day, give yourself 15 minutes, that's 1.5%. Wake up properly. I'm giving you ideas now and tips, playing the percentages. Wake up properly and then focus. Whether it's a post it note, post it note in the car, handwritten in a journal, handwritten on a piece of paper, stamped on your fridge, on your mirror, anywhere. Focus. What's my most important thing? What is your mitt? What are your myths in family, self and service and what are you saying yes to and what are you saying no to? What are the right yeses and what are the right nos? Healthy boundaries, right yeses, right no's and then habits. What is a habit and action that I want to build here. What's something that's tangible? What's something that's tangible and makes sense to me. So much so that it's a tangible action that if in a court of law I could prove it. Yes, this is the fact. This is the action that I'm committed to and I'm turning up and executing on. And then commitment, follow through and stay accountable. So those three focus, habits and commitment you're setting yourself, you've primed yourself by waking up, dialing your focus. What's the habit I want to hit? What am I committed to doing and who am I committed to? Fantastic. That's a small block. Could be three to five minutes. And then don't think. You don't have to think. It's done. It's locked away. It's a non negotiable game on. Then from there, bedtime, unwind. The reverse of wake up, unwind. Don't bleed into the next day's 1000 minutes by fucking your body up and your mind up before you go to sleep. So unwind, relax. It's why I love our nighttime tea. Hit the sack. It's awesome. Obviously we have Night Rider, our nighttime supplement. Man. You have both those together. Holy shit. It's crazy what some of the dads share where they have it. That works phenomenally for me as well. I just love it. But rejuvenating, you're rejuvenating yourself. Bedtime, Play the percentages. I'm telling you. 15 minutes, waking up, 15 minutes, bedtime, priming yourself, rejuvenating, dialing in your focus, habits and commitments for the day. Collectively, that would be no more than 35 minutes out of the 1,000 minutes that you have. So ask yourself, what's the 3.5% that I can apply to my day so I can earn the right to play and get an amazing 96.5% ROI. That's how you build structure, man. First point done. Next one, non negotiables. So this is really looking at ultimately a couple of different principles here which I'll quickly touch on. But this is looking at true power learning non negotiables. I want to get better so I can be more effective and more efficient then doing it, Building that competency up and then reflecting. Was that the right action? How can I get better? And rinse and repeating that cycle and then obviously your pillars of progress, that's another principle that we have. Precision and purpose. Okay, how well am I doing something which is an element of true Power. Learn, do reflect, learn, do reflect. And then purpose. Why am I doing it? And that's part of reflection in true power. But this is progress. Pillars of progress. How well am I doing it? Why am I doing it? Which means your non negotiables are playing the percentages because time is valuable and focusing on your most important things, but then going, hey, I'm fucking hungry to win, man. You've got to be hungry to win because if you're not, you're not. Look, there's a big gray area in life. I'm not those who followed me long enough, you know, I'm not a cold hearted man and I'm not direct and I might come across as a Viking sometimes. And a lot of the times I'm a panda. Both of them are great. I love that podcast episode. But there are many things that are very binary. Don't fucking overthink it, man. Don't complicate it. You're either fucking hungry to win on you not. There's plenty of times where I'm not hungry to win, plenty of times. But when it comes to you organizing yourself to go out and hunt life and win the day, there's got to be elements where you can tap into that state. Like I can flick a switch on a dime, man. I can turn around completely and go from the panda to the Viking. The girls are painting my nails unaware. And mum comes out, yeah, my wife, she comes out and says, I told you, gave me half an hour ago. I'm like, oh, I better not be the panda anymore. Fucking game on time to be the Viking. Because the girls will listen to me. But it's true, actually, that is true to a degree. You need to, man. I still walk out of the room laughing after I've been firm with the girls who've gotten up eight times out of bed now. But it's true. You've got to be hungry to win. You've got to declare your future truths. That's what I spoke about earlier, non negotiables. Declare it to your tribe, whatever that looks like. Declare it to your coaches or people of influence that you're like, well, man, I'm a fucking accountable to this bloke or this person. Declare it to your family, declare it to others, declare it to yourself by writing it down, making many reminders. Declare your future truths because it takes away the temptation of taking what's perceived to be the easy road. But it's the hard road, long run, because you're going to be filled with regret if you don't and do it. But also it takes away the temptation of being a liar. Like I spoke about. This is something that is critical, man. Like, look, we're all liars or have been lies at certain stages of life. But you can't go doing white lies or adopting the wrong perspective that thinks she'll be right. I'll get around to it another day. No, no, no. You just didn't do it. You can't get caught in that trap of using excuses to justify your position. So many people do it. So many. You don't win from that. It's a saying I have, and I haven't put it up yet, but, I mean, I will at some stage, but the saying is this. Stop making excuses to justify why you're living a shit life and do something about it. I'm not saying you're listening to this. I'm not saying you have a completely shit life. There are times where life is shit for all of us. For all of us. But those who fucking whinge and bitch and whine, who are bored, you're not trying hard enough. If you've got time to bitch and whinge and complain or even worry to a degree, people, man, you have no idea. Some of the big. I talk about the Void or taping the Big Leap. The big Leap, man, I felt like I needed a set of rocket launchers or something, and I didn't have them. Some of the jumps I've taken, it's. It's crazy, man. They'll be good stories. I'll save them for them. We're on stage one day when we get to do events again. Good stories. Holy shit, man. Some of the jumps, people will be listening and be like, man, I can't. What the. I can't. He did that, and he did that with children, mouths to feed. They were some of the chances he took. They were the risks. Well, I'm mitigating the risk. Why? Because I don't have time to fuck around. This is the step. This is the commitment. Find a way. Make it work. So what you might perceive as a crazy risk that I would never take. I can't believe Al did it. For me, it's like, well, this is the next stepping stone to evolution. I can't not. That's what being hungry to win is all about. Not every day, not every minute, not every hour. You're all different. You're all at different circumstances. We're all under the pump. I get low energy as well. That's why I don't do a podcast at 10 o' clock at night. You got to be hungry to win. Non negotiables. Declare your future truths and then realign some perspectives. The perspective I love is being pretty direct. A lot of the times. I'm very emotional, man, and very driven with a lot of the different ways I articulate things. I like that. I like having a wide vocabulary and building so many different perspectives so that I know that something that in this episode is going to hit home with you. I know it is. It can't. Not because it's a skill set I've developed over time and with fathers just like you who are listening to this perspective. But here's two perspectives. For you, death is coming. Hopefully not right now for you, but she's coming, man. Like you want to know what the end is? Flick to the end of the book. It's the same ending for all of us. We all die. But the question is, what were the pages that led up to that ending? Death is coming. That's a perspective to adopt when you realize how temporary life is, which means don't fuck around. Then none of us are here for that. None of us. I get it. There's times and moments when we feel like we need to have some sort of rest. But you can't get that, man. When you're zonking out like a zombie or in front of the tv, you can't get it with sedation and distraction. Like that doesn't serve you. You can't do it with sedation and distraction, which is chronically pulling you down even further. It just doesn't work. Yeah, rejuvenation, rest, relaxing for sure. I watched a movie the other night with the missus. I think it's some Christmas office party movie. It was out like five years ago, man. I was fucked. I couldn't get up off the couch. I literally felt like I'd been drugged. I couldn't believe it. I know that sounds extreme, you know, like I just don't watch tv, but every now and then for my wife, we had a little dessert. I made a. Like a bit of a home version of Cold Rock. So a little bit of ice cream with some bits and pieces in there. I had a little bit myself. Enjoyed it. Wouldn't feel great if I had a large amount, so I had a small amount. Watched a movie. I felt like I'd been fucking drugged, man. I could not get up out of the couch. Admittedly it's a low lounge, but shit, man, I couldn't believe staring at a screen and watching tv. For nearly two hours at night. And it wasn't like we started at 11 o'. Clock. I still didn't get to bed too late. It crushed me, man. Doesn't mean you can't do it. What I'm saying is the moments where we are tired, we need to have a look at ourselves and go, okay, when have I done something for me? When have I rest or rejuvenate? When have I given back to myself? What do I need to do to improve that position on myself? So I am recovered, so I am looking after me. And the final one is time and energy. Time is fixed. We've got a thousand minutes a day. And look, you have a lot of commitments. You do bathing and clipping your nails and brushing your teeth and doing your hair or if you're bald, awesome. You've bought a few minutes back that none of us will ever get back but you, you know, there are maintenance, there's duties, responsibilities, obligations. All. All of them. Definitely not. None of them. All of them apply to you. You know, running the kids around. So time's fixed. We've got a thousand minutes a day. If you sleep for seven hours and 20 minutes. So some might get a little bit more, some a bit less, but that's a good wholesome number which you're going to psychologically connect to and go whack. It's a lot of time. But it's quick, Al. It goes quick. Yes, it does. You maintenance your food, eating, literally eating, you know, yes, it's a temptation. We eat while we work, but you got to have some sort of disconnect, man, you know. But yeah, there's a maintenance protocol. So a thousand minutes a day. Yeah, you know what? It probably is only 800 minutes a day. We could probably write off three and a half hours to that. And then, yes, of course, work comes into place when we're looking at. And it's all said and done. Even when you transition, and there's lots of transitions in life, you still have three hours a day. That's what we get back for our fathers. A thousand hours a year. You still have that. It's still possible. Absolutely. You've just got to be sharp. You've got to apply the first two. Right? Playing the percentages, best roi, best output. So modern intelligence, self and social awareness. Because your family's important to you as well. Your work's important to you as well. Self awareness. What are you doing? How well are you doing it? So the two pillars are the two principles, pillars of progress. How well am I Doing it and why? True power. I'm learning to get better at something. I'm going to execute and fucking do it. And I'm going to reflect on how well I did and what I can do to improve again. Just 1%. So you've got to play the percentages. You got to build non negotiables. That tenacity, man, you are a lion. You're out in that fucking jungle and that's yours. And there's going to be some big elephants and you won't fucking get in their way because you don't need to. And they're pretty humble. And you're not going to go out and expose yourself on your own. You're going to have the right fucking hunting party and the right, the right men, now I'm saying lines, but the right, you know, having the pride. So you're not on your own with fucking 20 hyenas that are just slowly going to chip away at you and chew away at your soul and spirit and you're fucking gone. You're going to do it properly and you're going to do it well with vigor, with that fucking mentality, those non negotiables. And then you're going to leverage the two most valuable things that we have. Time and energy. And energy flexes. You build it, get better at building it. Build that capacity physically and mentally. You allocate it. Where am I applying this energy? And then you recognize that it is finite. I will need to go to sleep, Al. I will need to recharge the batteries. No one's different. People think time flexes. No, no, no. You do 18 hour days, you think you got more time. Instead of someone doing 12 hour days, I'll do it a third of the time quicker. No fucking way, mate. You'll burn out and your productivity is shot to shit and your energy is fucked. Telling you now, I know some of you guys listening will be hitting. I might come across as opinion. But none of you guys should be doing more than 60 hours a week. None of you. It's. I know some of you will be the 70, 80, 90. Some of our guys have hit over 100. But guess what? The guys who've hit over 100, why do you think I know? Because they're reached out to me. That's how I know. And they've told me how many hours they're doing because they know it's destroying them. That's why I don't get guys emailing me, hey, al, I'm doing 110 hours a week and Life's amazing. I know how many hours these guys are doing because they're reaching out, going, man, I'm falling apart. But I'm doing this. But I know I shouldn't. That's right. Let's reorganize the life, family, self and service, and let's win. Time is fixed and energy flexes. Don't ever forget that. And you need to time block you first. Most of you, your work is fixed. It's like, I'm going to work these hours, maybe not 9 to 5, but it's reasonably solid. You can flex a little bit, bit of flexibility with your work hours, but generally it's fixed, which means beautiful. You don't have to think about it. Fuck that off to the side and then go, all right, I'm going to do me first time block. What I want to do. You might be a little bit flexible when there's something that you want to do, but there's something that's necessary for the family, but that's something that you wanted to do. Can be pushed back to earlier in the day, later in the day, a different time of day. Fantastic. If I can train at 5am, but I've got to get up early because Corinne's been sick or she was at hospital and she's not feeling well or whatnot, then I've got to get up early for the kids. No worries. If I can train at 3pm, I'm not going to get up and train at 5am I'm going to get up at 5am, do my little morning routine, wake at 5:30. I'm going to look after him so Karine can get some more sleep. Done. So you got to be smart about this. Don't be arrogant, don't be stubborn when you time block, generally time block you first, family second and work third men. When I talk about stability, it's because of what it equals. It equals the opportunity and the building blocks to set the right foundation and build off that foundation together as one so that you can have freedom again. That's why stability is necessary. It allows the opportunity for you to build an amazing foundation and it allows freedom because that's what it's built off the back of. And you can't have that if you don't have the right structure in place. Structure equals freedom. Play the percentages, build your mentality with non negotiables so you're following through on the right things, getting the best roi. You keep turning up. You're resilient, you're persistent, you are both persistence is resilience over a period of time. And you're understanding the most valuable assets, time and energy that we never get back. And you're investing in them all the time by allocating your most important things, by building your energy, allocating it, and then understanding that you need to recharge it because it's finite and by time blocking the most important thing in this world. World, which is you. You die for your kids. I get that, man. I would too. But that's a moment in time. How about we look at the other end and go, you know what, Al? Yes, I die for my kids, but I fucking live for them. Because there are a lot more moments. So whilst you say that you die for your kids, let me ask you, you're willing to die for them, but are you actually willing to live for them? Because that's a very long. And that is a. That is such a longer period of time, man, from which the fruit of your loins, the greatest return on investment ever. Whilst it might be realized over hundreds of years when you and I are already dead, through our grandchildren, great grandchildren and so on, it's actually recognized when we're looking into our children's eyes and going, yes, I am the fucking man. You know why? Because I led. I led from the front and I created freedom for all of us. And the way that you do that is by establishing structure, committing to it and following through. I hope you got a lot out of this podcast. Take action with those three points. Playing percentages, non negotiables. Time and energy. Structure equals freedom. Discipline, yes, important for a period of time. Self control, yes, important for a period of time. But structure remains true in your life always. It can always be there. Not having structure is a form of structure that will fuck you up. Create structure on your terms, in control, dialing in time and energy. And do it as a leader, not a leech. By living and breathing the message of showing not telling. 1,000 minutes a day, it's a lot. But when you're wasted on shit that doesn't serve you or move yourself or your family forward, you are bleeding the most valuable resource that you and I never get back. How much time do you think you have? And how much quality do you think you've had? Don't be a fool like the masses, thinking you'll cheat the system or get round to it one day or worse. Just accepting life and sinking back into a slumber of regret. This is your moment, your time. You're cut from a different cloth. You have the hunger and desire to be more and live more. Otherwise you wouldn't be here. So stand up. Find the golden Nuggets. In this episode, you just listened to and align immediate action with them and where you want to go. You are worthy. This is your life. You are the king. And this is your kingdom. Now go and claim it by showing, not telling and be the real leader you and I both know you were born to be.
