A monologue-style coaching podcast (hosted by Big Al) that explores the idea of momentum in life: what it feels like, how it shifts (using sports analogies), and why it depends on energy in motion. The episode reframes momentum as the amount/quality of energy applied to life goals and links its restoration to intentional actions—especially self-discipline and a structured morning routine (e.g., rising at 4:30, training, reflection, creating early wins). The host closes with reflective questions and a call-to-action for weekly live sessions.

All right, all right. I read a good one. I read a good one. I did have to do some research. I'm not a false dad, but I had to do some research on some dad jokes, and there's an amazing one here today. My son asked, can I have a bookmark? And I burst into tears. 11 years old and he still doesn't know. My name is Brian Mercy. Dad jokes. I wonder if any other country knows what dad jokes actually means, or is it just an Australian thing? Welcome, boys and girls, ladies and gentlemen, mothers and fathers, the elderly, toddlers, whoever's listening to another episode of Real Dad Movement podcast. My name is Big Al, Big Red, and I am blessed to be joining you today. Today is another great day. I got to wake up and open my eyes. And in an eight hour period of sleep, which is generally broken more often than not being a father, 50,000 people no longer will. And that is the absolute gift that is life. Knowing that the only present moment that really matters to you is one that you can have with a higher level of perspective in love and gratitude and what we do and what you do for your life. And that's what I wanted to talk about today. Momentum. Where is your life going? Where is your life heading today to take you to where you want to go tomorrow and the next day and the next day? It's a crazy thing like this momentum. You feel it. It's like an unknown source or power or lack thereof that you feel in your life when you don't have it. When the chips are down, you feel like you've got none. And when the wind is in your sails, so to speak, you feel like you're Superman or superwoman and you won't stop. You can't stop. So what is it and why does that happen and why do you feel it and why does it influence and control us so much? It's something that. It takes me back to the footy days in team sports. You can feel it. And a lot of you, you know, it's a funny one that really, really is fascinating for me, even though I'm horrible at it. It's. It's tennis, but with footy, I could feel it. We could feel it out there on the field when you had that momentum and when the momentum would shift. And you can see it as well. People could see it, spectators even watching sport on tv. You don't have to be there live to feel and see the shift in momentum, which is why there were times when we would just come back and we would win the game. You just knew you were going to win. It's like the universal line and it would happen. And other times you just knew deep down that you were going to lose. It wasn't going to happen for you that day. And that's what fascinates me about tennis, because as long as there is still a point to be played, it is anyone's game. It's crazy, isn't it? Like it's such a big, like it screws with the mind for me so much. Or it can do in the game of tennis, like at any stage, you could be two sets down, it could be five, love, 40, love their way, and they're about to serve, and you can still claw your way back into the game, which maybe not that extreme, but certainly circumstances or situations very, very close to that have happened. And I've seen it before with tennis. Amazing. Incredible. So what is momentum? And I wrote down the definition of it, which was quite interesting and more of a physics or quantum type meaning here. But the quantity of motion of a moving body measured as a product of its mass and velocity, what does that even mean? The quantity of motion of a moving body measured as a product of its mass and velocity. So to bring some level of comprehension to this, I just cut right through quantity. So the amount, volume, right, quantity, reps, runs on the board. Quantity of motion, movement, motion of a moving body. So all this truly says to me in a universal sense is the amount of movement of, of energy. That's what a moving body is. That's what motion is, energy. Everything's energy. Is it a high level or a low level, A frequency that serves you, a frequency that doesn't. The quantity, the amount of energy that you're putting forth in your life, that is what momentum is, guys. And when you look at every experience you've had in your life up until now, every situation or circumstances, good or not, it's come down to your energy, hasn't it? And what creates that energy state? Being able to shift that state and change your state almost immediately, and if not immediately, over a period or a course of present moments that puts you in a position to shift your current situation, your current life, where you're at, regardless of whether it's health, fitness, family, love, relationships, work, career, yourself, self esteem, belief, values, principles, all these things come down to energy and momentum. Is the momentum moving you forward in life the way that you want it to, or is it not, is there a lack thereof that you don't currently have? And I want you to ask yourself that question. What periods of my life have I had a higher level of momentum? What periods of my life have I showcased? A better state, a state that I love, a state that I enjoy, whether the chips are down or not, whether I have a challenge in my life or not. What level of momentum have I had? Where I can feel it? Man, I'm kicking some ass today. Today's a good day. We're ready to rock and roll, baby. I've got this. This is mine only. To have something happen and all of a sudden it's like you've just hit the brakes and you've stopped, or to have something happen and you've just steamrolled it. Get the f out of my way, man. You will not stop me today. What's the difference between those two situations? What's the difference between having that one situation and those two different outcomes? You've let us steamroll you, or have you steamrolled the circumstance, the adversity in front of you? See, momentum is a really funny thing. Momentum is something that. Say it five times really fast. It's a really funny thing that comes down to the presence of energy that you can hold, maintain or raise through the state of your being, the state of who you are. The last two weeks for me have felt horrific in terms of momentum with adding value to the world, having impact and moving myself, my life and business forward. But is that the case? Or is that just the state that I've been in from a perspective that I've adopted, Breaking the norm of what I've been doing in here, in the office, in the gym, with my clients, with everyone. Instead, I've gone away on a holiday with my family, gone and seen mum and dad, had some time away, tried to get some more sleep, rest and recovery, not train as much. And it comes down to the state of being. So why? Why do you have to feel that way? Why do you have to let your momentum stop, shift or not be what you want it to be? And that's where it really comes down, guys, to momentum being a state of sabotage, self sabotage. If you don't have momentum in your life, it's because of you. It's not necessarily because of your actions, because of the belief of the actions before, during and after the fact of today, tomorrow, the next day. It doesn't have to be that way. The reality is I've jumped in. I've just done three live videos for my coaches, coaching team, my dad's community, my VIP group, my Facebook group, and it's raised my state. I feel like I'VE got momentum now. Why? Why does it have to be measured as a product of mass and velocity? It doesn't have to, but you've got to make your bed and sleep in it. You've got to know, am I moving in the right direction? You've got to know that momentum comes off the back of energy in motion. What is that motion? It's taking action. Taking action can be studying something, learning something, accumulating knowledge. It can be taking literal action for your body, your mind, mindfulness, your soul, meditation, nourishing the body, fueling the body, doing some training sessions in working with other people, business. Momentum can be anything you want it to be, but that's exactly what it is, what you want it to be. And if you're not happy, more often than not, because you don't have either the state of what momentum is to you, to your goals, your dreams, what is it you want to achieve or momentum relative to some primal aspects of your life. Literally physically moving yourself and your body and taking action. So I want to close up today's podcast with a reflective state, looking at yourself. What state was I in when I had the most momentum? How did I feel? What was I thinking? What did my life look like? What action was I taking? What was the outcome? The result, the reward, the perceived reward? Everything you do, guys, is certainty. Certainty will come about. You'll be certain on whether it worked or whether it didn't. What do I need to do to get back in and get that momentum going again? Remembering things happen twice in this world. First, internally in the mind, in the soul, in the heart. Secondly, out there in the real world. What can I do? What do I need to do today to create a high level of momentum tomorrow? And I'll give you one tip. Self discipline. Self discipline will certainly be the steam train off the back of which momentum like you've never believed will be built. I get up 4:30, create space for myself, Reflection, gratitude. Go to the gym, train, come home, nourish the body, wake up the family, if they're not already awake. Stella almost certainly is. She's an early riser. Sometimes she's a slug, but Jesus, she's a crack up man. Make breakfast for the family. Connect with them, man. I've had four to six wins before. It's 8 o' clock in the morning. What are you doing in your Life to create four to six wins right from the get go. Set your alarm. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Bang. Get up, get your ass out of bed. Get moving. You don't have to train early in the morning. But what are you doing? You're journaling, you're writing your plans, your goals, you're working that plan. You're creating space for yourself the right way. Build out that inner fire, the inner framework to handle all the shit the world's going to throw at you. It really comes down to your perception and the state that you're in more often than not off the back of the actions that you're putting into play to create the momentum that you want in your life. That simple. The end bread and butter stuff. And how do you do that? Self discipline. So I hope you enjoyed today's episode. Guys, get out there. Create some more discipline in your life. It's not that hard. It's the simple things. And get that quantity, the volume, the number of reps, that excellence of motion, higher level of achievement in what you're doing to move yourself, that moving body off a measurement and a product of your mass and velocity. That is the quality in which you are applying yourself in life. And see how you go. Be aware of it. Have that higher level of awareness. This isn't about going deep and heavy. Just go one layer deep. Just go one under, just one more layer, deeper and analyze. Ask yourself. Have that awareness, have that acknowledgement. And off the back of that, create more action, more knowledge, more power, more reflection. And go again. And you'd be amazed at the amount of discipline that you have in your life when you focus on that which serves you to move yourself forward. Take care. Have an amazing day, night, weekend. Whenever you are listening to or watching this on YouTube, don't forget, every Sunday night, 8:30pm Live on Facebook. I dive into certain topics to help add value to your life in creating the shift that you want to ultimately live the life you want to live and to be happy with that. And you don't need to be in a continual state of growth to be happy, but just own that happiness and don't look back one day when you're 80 years old with a life of regret because you chose to settle, you chose to be the way you are, to be happy at that state. Make sure that state is going to carry you through to the rest of your life and ultimately the continual states you'll have in moving forward and being the best that we truly can be. Take care guys. And if I don't see you, good afternoon, good evening and good night. Thanks again for tuning in. Much love. Take care and I will see you soon.
