Heaps going on.
Fuck, we got a good crew, man. We've got such a good crew. And I'm always learning. That's what I love most about this. So this session's more about just some fundamental truths. There's only 4 one-liners. The first one is be careful when pleasure is greater than purpose. You know, like I look at this and it's like, it's every time I bring something to the table, man, I'm not someone, I mean, if you can look You can look historically. I don't really change too many things, right? So I don't like saying one thing and then just becoming some sort of fucking champion of it or influencer, and then I change my mind a few years later. So I like to try and stick with absolutes where I can, ones I promote anyway. So where in life is pleasure greater than purpose, and that's okay? I don't know. Like, I'm trying to look for that, right? I'm trying to look for that. So when we had, um, when we're living right on the water, you know, 30 seconds from the boat ramp, I bought a jet ski. Man, it was so awesome, man. Like, bought the jet ski, sold the jet ski. When it was all said and done, lost a little bit of money on it. Ended up costing me about $30, $40 a week. So $30, $40 a week. Not only am I going in there, you know, for myself, I'm enjoying it. Great time out, mental space, all that sort of stuff, creating space for myself. But man, the children. So when I look at that, had it for a couple of years, it's like, was that worth it? Absolutely. $30, $40 a week, take your kids out on the water and create those precious moments and memories. And like I said, very convenient. I would literally, from hitching on, would be in the water within 4 to 6 minutes. So that is convenient, right? Super convenient. So I'm trying to look at this and go, okay, well, what about then? Like the pleasure of riding a jet ski. What was the purpose? But I'm like, yeah, but the times I did it, the purpose was the connection with my kids, man. Like that was amazing. I didn't give a fuck about how fast I can go on the water. Did I do that? Yeah, of course I did. But you know, that wasn't, that was a, that was more a competition to see how fast I could go. You know, what, what the water's glass going 110 kilometers, man. I didn't want to fall off. That's for sure. So I look at this and it's like, let's, let's look at these other things. Pornography. Fuck me, man. The pleasure is way bigger than the purpose, isn't it? Drinking alcohol, drugs, like you look at, even if it's drugs to perform, you know, and take your, take your uppers so you can keep performing in your role and, and staying sharp and trying to cheat or gamify life in the system. So the first one is just be careful because when pleasure is greater than purpose, you find problems. When your purpose is greater than pleasure, it doesn't mean you can't have pleasure in life. Yeah, like I might choose other words like fulfillment and joy, rewarding, fun. All of those are HPF for me. Absolutely. And a million other things as well. Tough punches in the face, hard work, blah, blah, blah. But the purpose is so big. It's so big. Like men, you must have a mission that's greater than a man or greater than a human. 'Cause if you have a mission that's greater than any one human, that provides one value and attraction to a man on a mission, the vision, especially to your wife. Secondly, no one else can supersede or trump that, especially your wife and your kids and workers and colleagues and your employees and blah, blah, blah. So always look at your life and not without intensity or being Mr. Serious, just going, man, where in my life has the pleasure been greater than the purpose? So the pleasure of twisting the fucking ears off to watching other people having sex. Like, it's not— and I'm really, you know, like, I get it, guys. There's, there's a lot of you out there that I love and respect, and I know it's still a vice for you. I do. And then that's okay, right? That's— it's— I'm not judging you for it. So please, I'm not trying to say this to, to either weed you out or make you feel bad or— but fuck me, man. Like, you're watching two other people have fucking sex, half closing your eyes thinking that it's you and your dick that's entering that woman. Like, it's fucking disgusting, mate. And I say that, and maybe you don't think that way, but I'll tell you what, I fucking did. And that's disgusting, man. That's horrible. Like, you know, many years ago, but that doesn't matter. It could be 15 and it's still not a thing, not a move of integrity, right? 15, 25, 35, 65, doesn't fucking matter. Still not good. So, you know, because I said many years ago, what I'm saying is, hey, I was fucking there too. I haven't been there for a long time and there's no fucking way No way I'm ever going back. Not a fucking chance. It takes from you so much more than you think. It takes from you so much more than you think. Hard, I get it, right? The primal urges, things like health and fitness, and what you put in your fucking mouth. There are so many little things that give you such an immediate direct channel to feeling like you're in control in life, but there are lots of good things that have a higher level of purpose than pleasure. And still bring pleasure than the bad things, which become, whether it's a chemical, an addiction, or some sort of vice, whether it's porn or something else, that just pulls you into a lower state of being. So please don't, don't, don't fucking hate me when I say that stuff, man. I don't judge you for it. But when I say it's fucking disgusting, like, please, you know I'm saying the truth and I was there with you. Don't worry about that. But it's so fucking weird. Just, just think about that for a second. It's, it's, I know I've said before, video yourself doing it and no one would do that, because man, that would be a fucking horrendous mirror to look at. But just think about that for a second. Like, the, the actual— the act, not the purpose, but the act of the pleasure that you're pursuing. Fuck, man. Ah, it costs you so much more than you think. So much more than you think. And what's the cost? Well, I've been having a look at all different things, right? It's the absence of control, self-discipline, certainty on where you're heading in life. Typically, when you're bored or looking at procrastinating and doing things like this, you are lacking purpose, and then the attraction to your wife, your levels purely as a man, testosterone or not, in you being someone who is hungry, ambitious, that can produce and perform despite those itches, despite those things coming to try and pull you off track. There's so many fucking— mate, the costs are almost limitless on one act of weakness, weak indulgence in the flesh. I was there with you, man. Don't worry about that. Like, it's, that's, yeah. Mate, it's not something I'm proud of, that's for sure. So I don't want to sit on that. I just, you know, if this helps one of you go, fuck me, I've heard this 24 times. This is the time now. I'm done. Brilliant. It's worth it. And if that's turned a few of you away from me or HPF Forever, because I just brought up some pretty fucking blunt truths that, hey, like I said, I was where you were. Oh, well, so fucking be it, man. Like the truth always catches up. Doesn't matter whether you want to listen to me, the voice, or the truth or not. It finds you. So just be careful when you're seeking pleasure and that pleasure is greater than purpose because very seldom does it have a payoff. That's for sure. That was a big one for me. That was a really big one for me that hit not that long ago. And not because I was out of alignment. I was just looking at my life and I'm so fucking stretched. It ties into these other one-liners, but I'm so stretched at the minute, man. Like 4 kids, the young ones, she's 4 months old, little Flossie. Really tough. Had some tough news with my son, um, you know, who's, who's, um, yeah, he's, I guess, what do you say, he's got special needs now. And, um, you know, that's fucking hard, um, heartbreaking for the missus, uh, but, you know, um, started having seizures and stuff and we're trying to manage that. And welcome to fucking life, right? What do you do? And you don't just soldier on, you keep improving, you keep growing, keep being the best you can be. But it was through these periods of the last month when we got hit with that news and then still not sleeping with Flossie. It's tough, you know, she's still very young. And then the kids, chaos of them. And then Kryn and I trying to build a rhythm again with connection, which is natural, always happens through pregnancy, birth, and then the child's varying responsibilities at such a young age. And then keep my own body healthy and fit. HPF and the incredible opportunities we have to really build strength in our movement with our men, let alone build with more members, that's fine. And we will do that, but with our current men, some of the upgrades and things we're doing, developing the lead inside of HPF. Crazy, crazy, man. Developing in this, this movie with the producers, how awesome that's going to be. And I was like, you know what, the reason why I can do this is because the purpose is so true. It just shines through, man. It doesn't mean I haven't laughed and haven't had fun and pleasure. It's just that that's the key purpose. That's what's driving this, not just the next checkpoint, but my purpose in life and what I want in facts, feelings, through the eyes of others, experientially. Purpose, man. Purpose. Purpose trumps pleasure every time, and through that you get fucking plenty of pleasure anyway. Don't worry about that, man. Plenty of joy, love, and fulfillment in your heart. Next one: you don't get to choose the discomfort you think is right for growth. So funnily enough, man, most people— which couldn't be you, it couldn't be, otherwise you wouldn't be here listening, no way— but most people, men, but most people in life, they no longer want to be better. I think I spoke about this in another episode. It's fucking mind-baffling. Mind-boggling. Baffles me, right? It's, it's mind-baffling. Fuck. They just don't want to get better. But here's, here's the kicker too. Of those who do want to get better, most of them, so it's like the whole 92% fail New Year's resolutions in the first 8 weeks and then 92% of that 8% fail 8 weeks later, right? It's like that. Of those who do want to grow and improve in life, most of them think they're at a fucking buffet and they can just pick and choose what they think discomfort is for growth, like doing drop sets till failure in the gym. Nah, man, it's like, no way, no way. Life's got other plans for you, my friend. And it's, it's an interesting, I was chatting about this with, uh, with, uh, one of our coaches, Luke, Coach Luke, absolute legend that he is, um, of the Spartans. And we're talking about discomfort and growth and he had a good point too. So I'll pull them both together. But this one-liner here, you don't get to choose a discomfort you think is right for growth. Look, you can fabricate and create discomfort. That's awesome. Welcome to stage 1, right? Welcome to the starting blocks. You've stepped up. You're ready, ready to go, right? Well done. Most of the world isn't even there. But then it's like, man, you think you know what the path is for growth? You think you're the one who can drive and dictate the discomfort, like a fucking ice bath for 3 minutes? No, no, no, that, that's not That's not the growth that you need. And you see this, but you see this laid into all different, all the different gurus and mindset wizards and everything. It's like this. Yeah, there's no growth in comfort. Like, I love that. I've spoken about that before, but it's also the growth that you think is required for you getting to the next stage of your life is always different to the growth that's actually required or demanded of you. Always, always. What you think is required to grow is always different to what life will ask of you, man. I've learned that. But then you hear people who say, hey, knowing now, if I knew now what I'm— if I knew back then what I know now, sorry, we'll get there in the end, I would never have started. I understand that now. I do, being 8 years coming up to only a few months out from starting season 9 of HPF. I do understand that, but also I think that's fucking piss weak, man. Like, and I used to say that. I said that only a few years ago, especially with my throat, and I felt like I was dying and everything was dying. But now it's like, no way, man, because I just believe so much in the mission, man. I paid my first mentor, I think it was $38 grand, like nearly $40 grand, instead of paying my rent for the gym that was dying at the time. CrossFit Raw Commando, and that was dying. Didn't pay the rent. Night Frank was after me, and the lady who looked after it was, was very was firm because she needed to be, but she was very supportive and loving. But basically it's like, yeah, yeah, and I'm not paying rent for my gym, which is actually feeding my family, and I'm going to invest in a mentor and try and start something from nothing. Um, you know, and it's all just different levels. I mean, I'm sure there's people who've been fucking a billion dollars in the, in the red. Good for them. But, but, you know, like, it's— that was real for me, man. That was, that was a real tough— but I believed, I believed so much in the mission believe so much in the mission. You know, it's been so much harder in so many ways, but so easy in so many ways too. Because what's the alternative, man? Like, it's, it's so much easier than the alternative in life with regret, guilt, and shame of a time that's passed and you can't get back anymore. So just know, like, that's— so this one-liner for you, man, is like, lean into the discomfort, but don't lean into the discomfort of your choosing. But also what Coach Luke said is you still have agency. It's still your choice. You can still choose how much of that discomfort you want to chew, you know, bite off and chew. That's fine. So for some of you guys, it's the podcast. Some guys listen to like 200 podcasts and they join HPF. That's a, that's a big step, man. Like investing in yourself, your family, your future, completely changing the trajectory of the generations that will go beyond you. And when you die, like, that's, that's a big move. Um, I don't think that's a— I wouldn't say pressure, it's a big responsibility. But it goes both ways, right? You could completely fuck that up, which unfortunately a lot do, or you can completely liberate yourself of the patterns and the chains that you took gone from your father and his father and his father. So, you know, like, I get it, man. Tough one. Some guys won't listen to any podcast and they'll join HPF, but there's always a different level of discomfort. So find that. It could be some of these— look, I know I've said this before, but please understand, guys, that this is all out of love for you. I'm sitting, I'm sitting in a room talking to myself in a microphone. There's no power trips here. One person can listen to this, a million could. There's no power trips here. It's not putting it over you. Everything I do here is from a place of love and possibility And sometimes, yes, we have some lightning bolts to jolt or shock you into some hard truths. I get that. The mirror's brought up. I get that. I might say some things that piss you off too. Totally get it, man. Don't shoot the messenger. And it's not because I don't want to take ownership. Everything's my fault. I take full responsibility for everything to do with HPF and always will. And everything's my fault, and every great thing and every reward is everyone else's. That's how you got to roll, man. And that's what you need to believe. So when the coaches are crushing screenshots, all these men winning, getting their families, their lives back, their marriages back on track, mate, that's all yours. I just provided the platform. And when the platform, or if the platform, or how the platform misses the mark or fucks up, or I do something wrong, or this or that with what I'm— that's all on me. But all the victories, that's all on you. So when I'm operating from that place and being on the level, hey, you're amazing, hello, you're a fuckwit, sweet, thank you, sir, good either way. It's here to serve. I'm here to serve. So I get it, man. Like some of this stuff will trigger you. Like what I mentioned about just, mate, the porn's fucking disgusting. Fuck it off. It costs you so much more than you think. Just remove it. Just be done with it. Like if you need to just, just close your eyes and twist the ears off to the missus. Awesome. You know, uh, what? Take whatever steps you need to take. Just start by removing that shit. You know, and obviously when I say whatever steps, be integral. Yeah, man, it's like, it's all for you. So these things about discomfort, good. You're ready to grow. You don't want to be like everyone else who doesn't want to get any better in life. Isn't that crazy? Like, could you imagine just walking? Imagine doing this. Imagine having a clipboard and just walking and interviewing people in the street. Hello, g'day, I'm just doing a little survey here. Do you want to get better in life? Yes or no? And then the follow-up when they say yes is cool. Yep. Yeah. Okay. Sweet. What are you doing about it? And then when they tell the story, okay, cool. Where's the, where's the data? Where are the proof of receipts, so to speak? There's none. So people who say they want to get better don't. That's why it's tough. I said this in a session last night with the team. I said, hey, like, when we talk about going all in, like, don't worry about your deathbed. Just go forward 5 years. Whatever age you guys are now listening to this, just fast forward 5, 10 years' time from now. Fast forward 10 years, you're sitting down or in the car, wherever you are, you're in the exact same spot you are right now listening to this. Okay. Fast forward 10 years, bit older, bit more wrinkly, bit more, few more grays, few less hairs. Okay, cool. You see this TV screen. There's this TV screen to your left and you're looking at it and you're like, oh, what's this? It's got you on there. It's got you over the last 10 years. So it's got you 10 years ago, 9 years ago, 8 years ago. And it's like, it's like a flash roll. It's like, Pacing through all these different experiences, you're looking like, oh man, amazing, amazing experiences. Like you, the kids, the missus, family, holidays, health and fitness, you're in the gym, walks, traveling, adventures, learning guitar, riding jet skis. You're like, man, this looks, this looks fucking sick. Is that me 8 years ago? Is that, I don't remember any of this. What, what is this? What's this clip that's being played? What's this on the TV? And then this voice comes in and says, this is everything you could have fucking had if you just went all in. These are all the experiences, all the gifts. You've got your children, regardless of their age, you're getting married, they're having kids. You see them. You see things that you couldn't see because you're not in their house now, but how your son is operating as a father with his newborn and he's got his shit together. You're like, fuck me, that's amazing, man. Like, what is all this? I don't, how does this, when did this happen? I don't remember any of this. I don't remember my son being like that. My daughter, they're different now. They're not like that. I didn't have that. Relationship with them? No, no, that's everything you could have fucking had, but you didn't. You know, and I did a formula here, like 81 minus your age times it by 5,840. That's how many hours in a year. Um, you know, times that by 12%. If that's how much time you get a day to yourself, 1,000 minutes a day, that's 120 minutes, 2 hours. Do you have 2 hours free a day? Some will, some won't. So even go with 6%. That'll give you how many thousands of hours you have left, which would mean 28,000 hours left to myself. Divide that by 24, divide that by 365. Man, I've got like 3 years left of Al's time. I'm 40, 3 years of Al time to do whatever he wants for the rest of my life. And if you retire between 67 and 81, yeah, cool. Give you fucking 10 hours a day back doing fuck all. That's still only an extra 4 years. So if I become a couch potato and do fuck all and don't work or provide value or mentor or do other things with my life when I quote unquote retire, which I never will, then I still only get another 4 weeks. So I've got 7 years. I'm 40, man. I've got 7 years left of my life. You fucking kidding me? But like yesterday, I was like sitting in first grade, fucking picking my nose and wiping it on my friend's shorts and laughing. I was like hoping he wouldn't notice. Crazy. So when, sorry, I don't want to make this a bit of a mumbly mess, man, but When we look at HPF, this mission, me, this voice— it's not Alex Ranieri, don't fucking worry about him, right? Who the fuck is he? It's this voice and vehicle that has been constructed out of thousands of men yearning for more, a desire for more, for impact. Thousands of men, a voice of regret. Holy shit, I've taken some heavy shit over the years, man. Wow, I must be close to 30,000 hours now. Not all happy phone calls. That's what this voice represents. Don't fucking do that. You don't want to go there. Once you go there, there's no going back, mate. You're done. Like, there's no coming out of that. You don't make it out alive. And this is what possible, this is what's possible, is what you can do. But you don't get to choose the discomfort that you think is right for growth. But you also get to choose how much you bite off and chew. Be careful when pleasure is greater than purpose because that usually leads to problems. You don't get to choose the discomfort that you think is right for growth. Choose the discomfort that you know is right for your growth. And that will come with some tough realizations that will come from this podcast, some of the courses we roll out and give you guys, some of the videos that you see floating around, some of the events that we run that you might attend, some of the conversations. So not even anything to do with HPF, some of the conversations with the missus, with the kids, even the hard conversation with the wife that I won't have. It's not that that's the problem. Keeping the peace. It's the absence of you drawing a fucking line in the sand, having healthy boundaries, stepping back into your power, which creates, which now is creating a lack of certainty. You don't have any certainty, which is now viewed as weakness, which then means there must be certainty established in this household for order and for things to run. Nurturing and growing and raising children, which means your wife naturally becomes masculine by default. You think the tough conversation is I feel bad I'm avoiding it because I need to have the hard chat and the price is we fight. No, man, it's so much fucking bigger. You have no fucking idea the ripple effect of this avalanche that is happening right before your very eyes that you can't even see. So don't choose the discomfort that you think is right. I'm a little bit uncomfortable today. What's that? Yeah, I'll go straight black. Don't put any milk in my coffee. I'm not fake. No one. Fucking plunge yourself into the discomfort you know is right for you. And despite you being afraid, you do it anyway. Here's the thing. We all have fear in our life. You can operate with fear. You can operate in fear. This, this will be really important for a lot of you men. You can operate. Fuck me, I've been afraid most of my life, man. Playing footy, I never even wanted to fucking play. I just wanted to prove myself. I didn't even like the sport. I grew up playing cricket, man. Cricket and fucking soccer. Went from nothing to first grade, 18 months. Going all in, backing yourself. Purpose greater than pleasure. Sacrifices, sure, but still joy, fulfillment, rewards. Wow, I got a pen with Panthers gear. I got training gear and jerseys. This fucking kid asked me for a signature. Are you kidding me, man? I'm in reserve grade. Who am I? Broke my jaw. Mate, fuck. I didn't want to be there. But the challenge, the discomfort. I'm not saying that's the right path, but the fundamental energy served me so well. Because I didn't do what I thought. I did what I knew was the hardest path. Whether I won or not, and I clearly didn't fucking win, didn't make a career out of it. Oh, but baby, I'm fucking winning now. It's just another fucking, mate, shit. It's just another feather in the cap. Collecting fucking, collecting scalps, baby. That's all life is, man. Fuck me. Unstoppable. I don't know how to lose. The character of Al is now fucking unstoppable. Um, you can all have that, but making a decision to be that way versus just being your innate nature, it comes with a difference. That difference is time and volume of decisions. So you can all decide, hey, I'm a soft bull, but it actually just being part of your DNA where you don't even have to say it. Yeah, it takes time and it takes committing. Living, living with pockets of fear is not the same, men, as coming to my point, not the same as making decisions based on fear. And that's where you fuck it all up. That's where you fuck it up. You're making a decision based on fear. There's nothing wrong with being afraid. That feeling, the butterflies, anxiety, the scared nature, the nerves. Nothing wrong with that. I love that shit. I fucking look for it. Look for it, man. We've got an event this weekend, Brisbane, over 80 men. Going to be awesome. Amazing. I fucking wish I had butterflies, but I have— that's cool. That's okay. Know the people, know the subject. Sweet. Knock it out of the park. Doesn't mean I can't get excited. Public speaking? Who gives a fuck? It's not about Alex. It's about delivering value to these men. But through the journey where I used to get nervous with that sort of stuff, I loved it because I'm like, ah, it matters, it means something, it's important. So I love it. So I try, I try as best as I can actually, like before, like, you know, our events and stuff too. I know it seems a bit fucking weird and twisted. It's like a drug. Fabricate's not the word, but I guess so. I try and fabricate. I'm like, mate, look at all these guys, how awesome. You're here to serve. You better not fuck it up out there. Like I try and just do these, I guess, little cases or something like, fuck yeah, give me some nerves, man. I want to feel it. I want to feel that feeling. Again, but no, it's not, it's, it's not that obsessive. But fellas, don't make decisions based off fear. There's nothing wrong with being afraid, but don't make fucking decisions off fear. That's where people mess it up. Same with discomfort. There's nothing wrong with being afraid and what you know is going to be hard, challenging, and you almost certainly will fail. You know what? Hashtag fucking fail as you go. Welcome, welcome to the ocean. Join the killer whales. Join, join the pack of orcas, mate. Cause that's all we do. We fail as we go and we keep moving. We don't stop. Next one. I hope that was a bit, that was a pretty big one-liner which expanded into a few different things, but you know, it's, it's someone needed to hear that today and I felt compelled to share that. There's nothing wrong with being afraid. Do it anyway. I'm fearful. Fucking great, mate. That means it matters. That means you know what the right thing is to do. That's your fucking, that's your center. That's your proximity alert. That's your alarm bell. That's your, yeah. That's that little alarm going off. Ding, ding, ding. You have arrived. You're in the right place, man. Next one. If you always become more than is required of you today, you'll be able to handle when life asks the full 100 of you tomorrow. So what that means is right now, family, self, and service— I've never been more stretched. Now I've, I've, I've, um, I guess you would say contracted a little bit. Yeah, some people send me messages and other things, I just fucking ignore them. That's okay, I'm not rude. You're not obligated to do anything in this world, um, in certain parts of life. I mean, yeah, are we obligated to be the best fathers we can be? Yeah, I guess so. Like, I don't want to make people feel bad, but yes, I push hard on that stuff. Of course, responsibility as a man, blah, blah, blah. But in terms of like a message and responding, and so I've contracted a little bit. My circle of, or my sphere of connection and communication is tight because my time is. But more stress, pressure than ever before, mate. Yeah, even the tough news with Roman, like, it— I just, I, I feel weird, but only because I always thought that I needed to be in a negative to fight back, to be in a positive. Even with competitions and sport, I was the comeback king, always at the start. So I feel a bit funny when I say this, but it's like I'm fucking crushing it, mate. Fucking crushing. Handling it all. And it's fucking hard, mate. Every single child is hard. My wife is hard. Business is hard. Serving these men is hard. Keeping my body together is hard. Doing it all in the right time and order is hard. Getting structure is hard. I'm fucking crushing it. Why? Because for decades, that fat fuck who was 14, 13, I didn't need to do anything. Maybe I would have just straightened out. Maybe I could have just been fat and kept eating and still lived life anyway. Elite sport, CrossFit, starting gyms with no fucking ideas, starting supplement companies and all these other companies. Didn't have to do any of that. So decades doing more. Fellas, if you always pursue and become more than is required, right? My dad used to call them extras. He used to always drill it into me. You doing your extras, Al? Doing your extras? Whether it was training, could be anything. It's not just about more work or more volume. If you always become more quality, not just quantity. If you become more than is asked of you. So right now, if you guys are stretched at the 400, you're fucked, right? You need a circuit breaker. HPF is usually that for a lot of you men. All right, let's build your capacity. Let's reset. Let's cut away some baggage. Let's get you built nice and strong. Version 2.0. Let's fucking go. You win again. Decision. It's pretty straightforward. It's pretty simple. If you make that decision to become more than is required of you— not if, man, I promise you, not if— when, when life comes and asks the full hundred of you with curveballs, challenges, traumas, experiences, decisions, shit that you're not used to— not, ah yeah, I've made that decision 30 times, that's easy. No, no. Hey, here's something fucking new you've never seen before. Now what are you going to do when life asks that of you? Because you have gone above and beyond and always stretch your capacity greater than the requirements to perform and produce on that given day, when that time comes and that bubble, that sphere of you and your life is stretched to the full, you can fucking handle it. And not only handle it, but you can continue to lead exceptionally well. That's the gift. Not just how I can handle it, I can battle through this, I can survive it. It's like, fucking crush, man. I'm growing in every circle. That's hard to do. Like, you got to look at seasons. You got to look at seasons. I love, like, Hendo. Shout out to Hendo. He's, um, one of the, the guests that we had at our retreat last year. He said the whole work-life balance, I believe, is bullshit because what it suggests is you need to give up one to have more of the other. But if you get clear on what you want in life, who you need to be, and your standards to become that, you get it all. You don't have to choose between family, self, and service. You get it all. And that's true. It's very true. So there's seasons, and this season is weird because I've got a newborn, I've got my body which is building momentum to be in great shape, not that I'm going to go back to the CrossFit Games or anything, but, and we've got HPF, which is in a serious growth phase and evolution of services and offering too. It's like, hmm, can I grow in all three? One, I'm not alone, so then the answer is yes. Amazing support team, HPF, the members, family, my wife mainly. I got great fucking kids, man. We work very hard with them. Yeah, of course they play up every day, but great kids. But yeah, family, self, and service. But what's allowing me the opportunity to not even handle the full 100 that I've got at the moment, but actually strive towards more and thrive and grow, fellas, is because I've always pursued more. And it's not— I've not sat there every day waking up going, I'm never enough. It's coming for me one day. I'm fucking scared. It's not that. It's like, oh man, like I'm never going to get this day again. Let's fucking go. What else can I do? What else is possible? This day is never coming again. This day is never coming again. This day is never coming again. Which means you don't have to live intensely throughout the day. You just got to light the spark. Little spark, little spark, little spark. Okay, cool. Reset, realign. You might have your— I used to have them all, but I don't anymore. I don't need them. But it's like, yeah, little mantras like, okay, cool. One day I'm going to wake up and I'm fucking breathing my last breath. Looking back on my life, I'm going to be proud of this. This moment, this day, does it matter? What's my calendar look like? What's my schedule and structure that matters most? What's the shit I need to fuck off and not worry about and have some of my emotional attachment, or I think it's important but it isn't. Like all these little things to go through, this little checklist, right? But now it's just like, all right, what's my one thing? Family, self, and service. Let's fucking go. If nothing else happens today, it's still an amazing day and I'm blessed with the gift of another day. The power of one day is all that I need. Amazing. So let's go, let's become more. But yes, the beautiful byproduct is if you always try and become more than is required then when the challenges come, you'll be able to handle it. And the last one, guys, just to wrap up, is the pathway to an amazing life. It's almost always too simple to be seen by most. The path to just living an amazing life, so rewarding, so fulfilling, the impact you've had, the appreciation, the admiration for you as a leader, as a husband, as a father, as a member of society. Like the pathway to just living that fucking best life. It's so simple. It's too simple to be seen by most people in this world. Structure, ordering your life. That's all it is. Put your life in order, digital or on paper, and fucking lock it in. Commit to those blocks. That's your calendar. Structure is ordering your life. Capacity, physical, mental, emotional. How high can you perform for how long each and every day? And in that enduring nature, perform at a high level physically, mentally, making decisions emotionally, stability, reading the room, understanding what value is in others. Is someone speaking, you listen to the words or you listen to what they're communicating? You need capacity for that, but then also You need skills, which is your leadership quality. Seeing more than before, understanding what they value and what value you can provide for them. Understanding the integral cost of providing too much value when it costs something else, which diminishes your value. AKA, you just push everything aside, you overcommit, which means you get fucking nothing, right? You've poured into your cup zilch, and also your wife's not even happy with the standard you've dished up that you should never have said yes to in the first place. That's a skill. That's a skill. Leadership quality, not leadership, um, what would you call it, uh, um, we, we, with back in the, oh man, back in the days with, with school and your popularity. Sorry, can't believe I missed that word. It's been a big day. Yeah, not leadership popularity. Hey, everyone likes me. No, no, your quality of leadership comes with accountability, tough conversations, some healthy nos, some quality yeses that you do follow through on. And then conveying or sharing or showing or communicating that effectively so you're on the same page. You've got alignment. Leadership isn't just social influence, it's behavioral. We have alignment. We're on the same page in how we conduct, what we're moving towards, the desired outcome, and the meaning it carries. Skills. And consistency, which is value plus certainty. That's it. It's too simple. Too simple, man. Of course, tribe, other people, mate, all that stuff is huge. And what they are, I wouldn't say HPF is an insurance policy, but it's like, that's the safeguarding. It's two things. It's the safeguarding against you falling away and self-fucking destruction, which we're naturally wired for. You can clearly see as humans. Second one is the possibilities, opportunities, What can I achieve? What can I do? So removing the floor that will destroy you— uh, sorry, adding the floor that will save you from falling into the pit and removing the ceiling that holds you back from what's possible. 100%. Tribe, people, mentors, HPF, that's, that's a given. However, your diamond of development I just shared is simple, man. Structure. That's just putting the most important things in my life in its place for the week ahead. Like, let me just be really simple. Over the next 168 hours, I'll sleep for lots of those— what's 8 hours a night? Cool, 56. So over the next 112 hours, what matters most in my life? And what do I need to do to stay alive as an organism, be healthy, clean, strong? So food, doing your shit, wiping your ass, get all that stuff out of the way. What are the most important things over the next 112 hours so I can have a high-quality life and be successful? Successful is the conscious advancement of where you are to where your next point of achievement in life is, pursued in such a way that by its close— but by the gap closing and its eventual attainment, your life and the lives of others around you improves. That's all it is. Don't be successful once. Don't be a success in one spot. Be successful. What am I pursuing? That through that pursuit and the act— through the pursuit and the attainment. So not only just once I get it, we're good. Whilst I'm going for it, we're good. Both of those equals, hey, everyone gets better, everyone's lives improves, everyone who's counting or depending on me, we all win. We're all better, happier, more rewarding, more fulfilling. A richer and full life. Diamond of development, man. Structure, putting things in place that matter to me. Capacity, being more so I can give more. Skills, making sure what I'm giving is a top level of quality that is driven through leadership, connection, and alignment so that those feel heard, understood, can see a clear path, their life makes sense, they're heading in the right direction, and they see me as a point of value in my leadership that they want to be part of my life. Consistency is, wow, I know what I'm getting. He's done this before, he's done it again. There's value here. What is— I didn't look it up actually. What is value? Like, is it like just a measuring stick on how much someone wants to, to, how much someone looks at you with— I'm trying to say the definition without saying the word value. Is value how much someone values you? What it's like, it's in the eye of the beholder. What something appreciates, connects to, sees importance in. So when you're consistent, you not only have value, but you have certainty. I mentioned that earlier with the missus, right? You have certainty. Guess what most of the world doesn't have? None of that. Because it's fucking hard. But it's so simple. But it's hard. It's hard because they look outwards for certainty instead of inwards. But if you can do both, You can show them outwardly in you what certainty looks like, and then in your leadership and connection, help instill that internally inside of them. Wow, how amazing is that? That's what consistency is. My son, my wife, they look at me and see such, such value, such power, such conviction, such certainty. Confidence is just a byproduct of that. Such certainty. And if he can do it, he's so close to me, he's my father, he's my husband, I can do it too. And he's showing me the way. You're the outward source, not fucking bullshit TV and other things that don't have their best interest at heart. You're the source which then lets them develop that and foster that fire inside of themselves. That's what consistency is— the track record over time, the proof of your leadership, your power, and what's possible in this world. Be careful when pleasure is greater than purpose. You don't get to choose the discomfort you think is right for growth. Choose the the discomfort, you know, is the path for you, even if it brings fear. Because you can live with fear in your life at times. Don't live with fear, but there's times in your life where fear will be part of your life, and that's okay. You can operate with it, but don't make decisions based off it. And when you try and push and pursue to become more than is required of you, you'll always be able to handle whatever's around the corner for you, man. And the pathway to an amazing life is too simple to be seen, but hopefully I've given you value by sharing what that is. And that diamond of development is getting you 99% of the way there when you've got the right people around you in your corner. Take care. A bit longer on this one. I thought it was gonna be short and sweet, but, uh, take care, man. I hope you enjoyed this and, uh, and as always got some value out of it. Just maybe they all land, maybe one lands, maybe it's that fear thing, whatever it is, just, just pick one and fucking run with it, man. There is no tomorrow. Take it, use it now and carve out the life that you know exists for you. So that when you look back at that fucking TV in 10 years' time, you can see all those beautiful experiences and go, ah yeah, yep, I remember that, I remember that, that's all me, baby. Not, wow, that's what I could have had but didn't. See you soon. Well, that wraps up another episode.
And just as we wind this down, I want you to just reflect and think back through some of the golden nuggets, some of the revelations, some of the sore points, some of the things that might have hit home with you. And then just look at ways that you can apply a different set of actions to change your position, change your circumstances, change your feelings, and change the facts. These episodes are done with your best interest at heart, and there's always something we can get from that. Maybe it's not the first time, maybe it's the second time. We've had members listen to episodes 4 or 5 times and then it finally clicks.
But either way, I hope you got a lot of value out of this.
And also, if this is something that you really want to solidify inside of your life, repetition is the key. You've listened into it. Write down your revelations, think about them, read them, speak them, believe in the changes that you will carve out in the action plan of those revelations to create change in your life, and then share that. And when you teach, you learn the second time, right? So teaching and showing this to others you love and care about is the greatest way that you can remember and make sure you consistently learn and relearn what is— it's true and what is— that is important to you in your heart. Take care, have an amazing day, night, weekday, weekend, and I'll see you for another one soon.
Cheers.
