Hello and welcome to Echoes of Glory. I'm asd.
And I'm Jack.
Welcome back. It's been a couple of weeks.
What a week this week has been.
I was. I was just thinking it's been two very different weeks. The first, if we recorded last week and we didn't record because we lost to Leicester, just. We couldn't make it happen, it would have. It would have been the end of the world. We lost two ones.
Absolutely. Yeah.
That is the worst of the worst. Because it, it. You know. You know, we used to say you could never predict what's going to happen in a North London derby or a London derby. It's like that now with every spurs game. Because with Leicester it went lost, lost, lost, lost spurs. And back to normality. Yesterday, losing into Everton and is there anything you want to say where they came to our place and scored 2 goals after we went 1 nil up?
It was just really, really difficult to take because it felt like just a bit of a nothing game the whole way through. And it's like I just felt like I'd watched that game so many times over the last five or six years. I was just like. All it lacked again was Davinson Sanchez sprinting back after giving the ball away, or Eric Dyer, you know, doing something. Matt, like, it just felt like Groundhog Day. We've seen it all before. It was just. I was really worried after this guy, I'm not gonna lie. I was looking at it going, we are in proper trouble here. Which was a bit of a reactionary response. But like that. That was just how. How the feeling was after it last week.
Eric D's top of the league. He's got an assist and he's played nine matches. So I don't know what you're talking about, mate.
Another example of somebody that leaves spurs and goes on to bigger and better things. Like, how often has that happened? Pretty much every single time, isn't it?
It's. It's ridiculous now, but hey, he's only played 24 times since he left last year. It feels like he's played more somehow. But hey, good luck to him. So let's talk about this week. We've got Elf Sport, we've got the match from today and then we've got. We've. We've signed someone.
We have.
Should we start there?
Kevin Dantzo. Big Kev.
Kevin is a dancer and he was player of the season in 2023, according to the Guardian for the French League. And he. It seems like Real Madrid were in for him last summer and everything seems to be good. Do you think that the other two that we went for were a distraction? I, I don't feel like it is.
Sure. I'm not sure. I think that my only knowledge of Kevin Dance, I'm not gonna lie, is football manager based so I can't have seen him. I can't say I've seen too much but like from what I do understand is he's quite a big powerful Pacey center back which is also what Fikayo Tomori is a Milan who we were being linked with and that on principle that does make sense in terms of the profile of defender that we need to play. Angie's system is exactly that, right? Which Dragon is not, which Davis is not. So from that respect like that's great. He's young as well. So it like he's one of the older, younger players now because what is he, 24? 24, I think so. I feel like that's 26. That's a, that's a good age for us to be buying someone that's established but he's still got a bit of room to grow. I can't say I know too much more than that if I'm completely honest with you. I'm just, I'm pleased we've identified. Look, we need, we need, we need a defender. Let's go and get it like spurs need the way we play van we need four center backs and with what we don't need are two great center backs and a massive drop off we need four pretty good similar level center backs because the intensity that we play at for those in that position requires that depth. So I'm pleased we've gone and done it.
He's on loan with obligation to buy so he hears hours from summer he'll be signed to a five month, five year contract. He started his career, he's from Austria. He's born in Austria but he joined the Milton Keynes Dons Academy and then previously to that he was at Reading. He was at Southampton and played six times for Reading at Southampton four or five years ago. I can't remember that whatsoever, I'm not sure.
But it's also a smart signing in terms of the homegrown piece as well though, isn't it? Like that? That's a good move from the club because we've struggled a little bit, haven't we with the homegrown quota at certain points.
How is he going to. He's not going to qualify for homegrown.
He does. No, he does because he come through Reading and MK Academy. Exactly. Exactly. So it's a smart move. So it's like when you're looking at next season's.
Smart.
Well, not that we'll be in Europe next year anyway. But like you know that that's just a clever move from us.
I do. You know what? I think he is Romero's replacement. I think it's as simple as that.
I said exactly the same thing to Mr. L. Senor. Exactly the same thing. Because there was some stats going around. Again, Data is not the beyond end all. But it's interesting to look at on paper. His strengths are very similar to Romero's.
Yeah. Just less moody.
Which. Yeah. Which. Which you know, suggests it's a good buy. What else are you hoping that we do? We've got one day left of the window. Like what are your hopes for what we can pull out the bag.
An out and out winger. I almost said George and Kudu. I think the in G in Kudus would actually have more of a chance now. But just someone better than Werner who. Who doesn't run diagonally towards the goal. Who runs wider and whips it in. I think we. We just need some legs out there. Some young players who just got legs and that just. We need son to have a rest. We need. We need them to have a rest. Like Johnson. Johnson's being hammered because he's not. Because he's been asked to play as a winger and he's not a winger. He's a Dele Alli late run into the box and he's great for that. And that's when he was. When he had that run of scoring four or five goals in a row. That's what he was doing. He is not running down to the corner flag and whipping the ball in which sun did incredibly against El Paul. His best game this season. But we'll come back to that. So I just want a couple of nippy wingers to come in. We don't need strikers. We've got strikers. We've got Oxford's third choice center forward come back now. Dane Scarlet. And we've got Rich Harison's back now. We don't need strikers. So he'll be back soon.
Would you have liked to have seen us binning conversations about Rashford, Ascensio or J Felix? They're. They're the three sort of attackers I know that Villa are in for. And it looks like moves are happening.
Yeah. The Rashford thing's interesting. There's a bit. Do you remember whenever Mourinho Goes into a club, he goes in and he's like, I'm going to have a go at one of the stars to establish my dominance. It's like if you go to a party and piss in all four corners of the party room too, because you're like, I'm the man here. That's what he's doing with Rashford. And he's an easy target, I think, because Rashford can't be that lazy and, you know, training, he cannot be as bad as he's saying. There must be some other breakdown there. And I think it's easy to get rid of him. Like, he's worth a lot of money getting gone. I think it's a risky move because he's a. The youth player.
It's sad, is it, when you see an academy and it's like that. Loves that club. Moved on. And it's like he's not even really being moved on because he's not good in. No. You know, we sold wings, we sold skip and you're like, ironically, you're not at the level, so we need to move you on. It's like you feel for them players, but, like, Rashford's one of them. Like, I wouldn't want him at Spurs. I just think that he's too unpredictable and we've got enough of those types of players now. But, like, Villa taking a punt on him, like, that's a good move for him. Like, that's what makes it even odder that you, you know, I would have expected him to have been sold abroad. A little bit of a. Out of sight, out of mind, you know, go and do your thing, all of that. But, like, that could be a really smart bit of business from Villa if they can get him going. Even if it's just they get him going for the second part of the season, like that, that could be, you know, the thing that pushes them into top four, whatever it is they're trying to achieve.
Yeah, look, Villa 8, they've got Ipswich Palace, Brenford, Brighton, Southampton left this year with. And then a few big games and they're in the Champions League. This is a great opportunity for them to make some money because they're not going to make the Champions League. They're eighth at the minute. Just get someone in with Premier League quality, like, to get him because he can just hit the ground running.
Yeah, straight in.
Great move for them. And that's what it be for us. He reminds me of Mora, frankly. Like, it's just unpredictable. Can come up with a goal, rapid. He'll push their defenders back which shoots, which would have suited our style. So I, I wouldn't want him on a permanent because I think he would, he would have a great six months and then he would just become a bit spursy. Yeah, I'd take him all day long.
So winger, that's your, that's what you're hoping for?
Because a winger. We've got a lot of midfielders who are sort of doing a job which you can mix and match. Like Archie Gray. We didn't have a center back I think like you say, but Archie Gray is now my favorite player. I love that boy.
I, I great and he looks so good.
But you remember when Soldado was being dog and that's where Kane got his chance. Yeah, that's what's happening now. Archie Craze has been given the opportunity of a lifetime to go, go and prove yourself. And he's proved himself at left back, right back, sort of center, defense, center midfield. He's doing a great job as well.
The funny thing is we just hadn't seen him in center midfield position. Like not, not for, we've seen him go in, but we've not seen him have like half a dozen games where it's like are you, are you, you know what is your best position? Because it's like he just might, he might be one of those guys that like actually he's just equally good anywhere he plays. And it's like you just be a utility man, you're always going to play but like one week you might be a fullback, then you might be a center half, then you might play box to box midfield like whatever, like that, that might genuinely be him, that he's just good anywhere and we just use him as, as and where we need to each game.
But who, who, who does that though? Like if he wants to become one of the greats or he wants to, he needs to knock down a position. Like how many great players out there who play three positions.
That's why I struggle a little bit with him and everyone saying he's the sitting midfielder because that sitting midfielder position requires experience. Like you don't get Too many good 18 year old holding midfield like because it's just like you've got to be good technically obviously but like you just need a bit of know how. Like so I, I, I, I, I see him still in the back line or maybe even playing one of the slightly more advanced midfield positions. I still think that's sitting midfielder. I still think that, I still think, I still think for us That's a little bit of a, I don't want to say problem but like I think we're still figuring that out a little bit like that central midfield, like is it one, is it two? Like I thought we looked a lot more solid today with the base. Bissuma and Benton core, I think both of them play better in a pair. Without a doubt they like. I think they complement one another as well when they're both in there. But a lot of the time it's just one of them. Yeah, yeah. With Sar and then Madison or Kulisiewski and I, I always feel a little bit for our city midfielder because I think they're asked to that our center backs now holding midfielder are asked to do a lot in the game, a lot more than what most teams ask those positions to do and I just think you need a little bit of experience to play that sitting midfield role. But Gray has been sensational. He could even be our player of the season, right? He really could be. Yeah, he really could be.
I'll tell you what could have based on the evidence today. DJ Spence, what a player he's looking now.
He looks weirdly like you know people saying I like, you know getting moving over on the right and all that but like he looks so great on the left.
Like he's not better than a dog.
Great and he like he's defensively like and Buemo today and Buemo is a really good player right. Like he and Buemo should be playing for in the Champions League. Like he's that good of a player and like he didn't really get a kick the whole game and like and where my influences games doesn't matter who they're playing against and like I've see you've seen Spence now. Like he had a brilliant game in the cup against Salah when we beat him. Like he's just proven himself. Like when he I, I think he's one of them. He's a proper defender. Like he's an old school 1v1 me and you. Like he's powerful. He's. He's good at driving with the ball. Like he's got a lot of attributes that actually like this is a player that could be really, really good for us. He's not just a squad player. Like he's pushing, definitely fully, fully fit. He's really pushing. It's a good problem to have. But it goes back to what you're saying a minute ago. Like I know he's not an 18, 19 year old Spence but He's still young. He's just not, he'd never, he would never have got the game time. Neither would have Gray and neither would a Bergval. They just would not have got the minutes and we just, we wouldn't have known if they would have been good enough or not.
Didn't realize he's 25. Like yeah he's a build in that but yeah, what a player that boy is. He's not a boy anyway obviously it's a man But I'm really excited to see, I'm really excited for spurs in about three or four years time even if Andrew's still here I think, I.
Don'T think next season honestly like I think next season it just shows you even more like they've just got a hold. They've really got to hold their nerve here because it's like this time next week we might be out of the Carabao and the FA cup and then we're staring at a. We're 14th, 15th in the league. We're throwing the Europa like where's the season going? I just think we've got to hold our nerve if that happens. I just think we've got to.
That's the perfect situation really because we're not going down. We won't go down. I mean we can have a look at our fixtures and try and work out where the points are coming. We're not. There are. There are three worst teams on us.
We've got too many points now to go down. Like I actually think if we lost every single game like I think 27, 28 points could be enough for you to stay up this year anyway. Can you, can you see Ipswich winning four games out of their remaining however many is 14 or 15 games that, that that's what it would take for them to get above us.
Yeah.
So I'm, I'm, I don't think that that's gonna, I don't think that's gonna happen.
That Man United game is just going to be interesting from a footballing perspective like what a story that is. Man United, spurs two with the former big six and I think it is a former big six now because you can't just tell me what the top six in the pro teams in the Premier League are anymore and you go there's a lot of history there. Both of us won eight games this season out 24, eight games. If you.
I'll tell you what I think Amerin is under enormous pressure because that they've won is it two league games since he's gone in.
It's his mouth as well. Like the things he's saying. I it. It's odd. I think he's been advised quite badly in the way that he's talking about the club and the.
They. They are going to have to double down with him in the summ and give him an absolute war chest and boot out every single player he wants gone. Because if they don't like, if they do a Levy and Pochettino and sort of like half back it like they're gonna be nowhere. And he'll be out.
That game. Two weeks today. Tottenham Man United at home. I really want to go. I think that is a season defining game.
That could be anything that game, couldn't it?
Like it really could be. But I think it will turn in our favor. The man, their fixtures now Leicester, they could lose that. They probably won't. Tottenham, Everton, Ipswich, Arsenal. Leicester. Forest City. Newcastle. Like there's a lot of top six clubs in there. Newcastle, City, Forest, Arsenal.
It's tricky for them. It's such a weird season. Honestly. It's such a weird. 4 weeks ago everyone was saying Everton look in proper trouble and now they're like no, no, there's no way they'll go down.
Dr. Tottenham.
It's such a weird season.
Yeah. Let's get a bit of discipline on what we're talking about. Elseborg. Proper European games for spurs in the first half. Do you know what you. I. I'm gonna bet you haven't watched any rugby. Just not disrespectfully. I just. I think I went to the last rugby game that you watched with me.
Yeah, yeah. This is about 10 years ago.
Yeah, it was in the World Cup. That was here we saw Australia, the one with the referee ran off the pitch. Great times. Wales played France and England played Ireland. They're the two big games. Ireland's really good. England unpredictable. What normally happens in rugby is the better team wins and it's. It's. It's less unpredictable than football is more predictable than football. Wales held out for 20 minutes and then we got destroyed because we are an amateur club at the minute.
It's.
It's really bad and it's. It's structurally bad. I'm not sure. Remember two years ago England. Wales was on my birthday. I went to see it at the millennium and I'm not sure if you remember, but the game almost didn't happen because the players were on strike. The we lost the CEO. All of this sort of stuff like the. And our club system is in disarray We've barely got any clubs left. There's only three league clubs left. It's, it's. We're in an awful stage and it's going to be like this for 10 years. Like we're in a way worse state than Tottenham and that put into perspective. But what I saw there was France never got out of second gear and they destroyed us. They wore the. They won the war of attrition and they just wore. Won the game of skill and size. And that's what should have happened with Tottenham and Elor Elk aren't playing football at the moment. Their season isn't on and they are old and relatively amateur compared to us. We shouldn't have been in that position at the end of the first half and we shouldn't have been playing the way. And I know football's a different sport, but it really shouted out to me the problem that we've got. We very rarely impose ourselves on the teams below us. We give people a lot of chances and I know we've got all the injuries and we had young players and all that sort of stuff, but the three nil really, really complemented us, I thought. But not in a bad way, but in a. In a bad way. Do you know what I mean?
I thought we were a lot better in the second half because we just played with a lot more intensity in everything we did. Like, I, I actually think that we tried to approach that game with more of a sense of let's control the game rather than. My big criticism with Angie's.
Football has.
Hasn't really been the high line the way we. My biggest criticism has been that we try to score with every single attack, like, and it ends up. Every game is a basketball game, whereas I actually think with that one we've gone, let's control this match, play at the tempo. We want slow. When we want it to be slow, fast, we want it to be fast. And I actually think we did that quite well in the first half, but without really sort of creating too much. And then it looked like, obviously, half time, he's gone, look, yeah, we're trying to control this game of football, but, like, you still have to play intensity. Like you can just be slow with it. And, you know, we didn't. I didn't feel like we changed the tempo of the game in the first half at all. I just thought it was slow for in the second half we were really good at planning bursts. And soon as we got that first goal, like, you knew then, didn't you? Like that this is, you know, and their heads went down. But I do, I do also think that I take all what you said about their season not being on and all of that stuff, but sometimes those games in Europe, like they're never easy. Like they're just. Even for when you're in the Champions League and you look at the absolute elite sides, like they don't they sometimes in this first phase it's difficult to, you know, play super attractive fast run football all the time. I just thought it was one of them that like, let's just get the win similar to what we've done today against Brentford and like and like just draw a line under it and move on. But for the young players, like I actually put in One of my WhatsApp groups is, was that the greatest night for the spurs academy? Like surely it must have been on par with Kane breaking Jimmy Greaves record. Because to get free academy players all in Europe, all teenagers, all scoring like for them that must have been the greatest thing that they've, that they've achieved level with Kane obviously being the club's all time scorer. Just an amazing, amazing achievement.
What was the game that we played after the Champions League? Was it a qualifier for the Europa League? We played a Scottish team. I think we won 5:1 and that game, I think Kane scored, scored heart.
Was it the two legged against Hearts? That's right. We beat him five one or five nil away, didn't we? And then drew near at home Junior because came Mr. Penalty at home, didn't he? I think Jake Liver, Jake Livermore was in that team.
Okay, I'm not thinking the same game. There's a game where Townsend scored. I'm pretty sure Kane scored. It must be a different one. But yeah, the five away Vanderbilt, Liverpool, Lenin.
You're not thinking of like Shamrock Rovers?
Shamrock Rovers. Trivia. Ronaldo played his first game for Real Madrid against Shamrock Rovers.
Amazing, amazing, amazing. There'll be, there'll be a Irish left back somewhere that probably is not in the professional game anymore. That will be like, oh yeah, I played against Cristiano Ronaldo when he was at Real Madrid. Imagine the two truths and a lie in a new job. And it's like I'm Mark Cristiano Ronaldo when he was at Madrid. It's like sure you did.
Yeah. It was good to see Vanderbank though in the else ball game. Massive, massive. Right. And I'm so glad you rested in today.
Sensible, sensible management. Sensible management.
Gave him a half, took him off, drag us in, injured himself straight away.
Which, you know, I like Tange's quote, by the way. When I see a light at the end of the tunnel on injuries, it turns out to just be another train. That was really funny. And did you see him pretend to police Hammy? Yeah, yeah. I love it, I love it, I love it.
Did you see the manager of Leighton Orient who we've sent players to and his comment about how he said he lost to Stockport? And he said, I'm not going to make excuses. I'm not Ange Postecoglou. I don't think Ange does make excuses for a start. Just why call him out?
He's retracted it, isn't he?
But you said it now, like, you can retract it all you want. What an idiot.
It's classic. It's just the classic thing of. Or have gone. We've got really good spurs players here on loan. Say you're sorry.
Shut up. What are you doing?
But he looked really angry in that clip, that manager. Yeah. Like strange. I love. I love lower league manager head losses. Like it's. Do you remember? It wasn't lower league, but you remember Chris Wilder at Sheffield United when he went mental because he went in to talk to the referee after the game and the linesman was eating a sandwich. Have you ever seen that clip? He's going. He goes mad about it. He says, I was talking to the referee, trying to speak to his assistant as well, but he was eating a sandwich at the time, which I thought showed a complete lack of respect. It's like he's. He can. He can eat after a game.
Yeah.
He had worked, like.
Yeah.
This is amazing. Like, random manager head losses are fantastic.
I love it. Elf sport was good. Good to see the win. Well. And Spurs. Can I say that while we're in the mid. The European thing. I don't like the Champions League format. I don't like not having the home and away in the groups because it's rubbish. Sure. I went in the loft, I started clearing the loft. I got rid of three of my kids car seats. Now you don't have kids. Get rid of car seats is a nightmare. Because.
That I know of.
Yeah. And you can't get rid of car seats because charity shops don't take them. They can't sign them because they don't know if you've been in an accident or not. And you shouldn't take them to a tip because they're a car seat and they're like, what do I do with them? It's a nightmare. I've Managed to shift them and a bed. What am I talking about? This. Ah. I was in the loft chucking stuff out and I've got a box full of my Tottenham stuff because I used to. And I found the scarf. The half and half only got one half and half scarf. And it was half spurs, half AC Milan. From the. It was from when we went one n up. And he's away from. Yep. Here.
Yeah.
Crouch. That's not. But that Champions League thing. Do you remember when Inter Milan were coming to Wireheart Lane after what we did to him? Like we had. We had business with them because they underscored that hat trick. Like we. We lost Paul three. They were the treble champions. Champions of Europe. Like they came to us. And how exciting that was. I've. I've said it since the beginning of this pod. I would swap every game I've been to. To have been at that. The intimate. The three one.
Well, it was like that in that. That time when we had Harry. I loved it because like every time I went to a home game I was like, we're gonna win. Like such belief. Every game was like, go now. And I'm like, can we even fill the team? Have we even got 11 to play? Do I need to take my boots? Like, you know.
Wait. That. That was it. 51 again against Newcastle. After we won the one we went to stay match. That was unbelievable. We went 3 nil up. Saha scored the double on the double. Adway or Lenin, I think scored. It was just amazing.
It used to be electric football really did.
But then you go. You step back and you go, oh yeah. Because you had Gareth Bale, Luka Modric, like Ledley King, Dawson, Van der Vaart, Defoe, Lennon. Like I think that team would. Would have a good game against our team now. I think we'd tear him apart.
Yeah.
But the point is back to the Champions League. Like not having the matchups.
Yeah.
Yeah. I kind of miss it. And I was just looking around because the whole point was they're trying to make the Super League happen again. Where the top top eight teams would go through. And it's it because if you have a look at the table, like Dortmund in 10th, Real Madrid 11th, Bayern Munich in 12th. Man City vs Real Madrid is one of the playoffs that's ruined it. That should be the final. Yeah. One of them's going to knock the.
Other one out also. It's like man City have been so poor. Like they. They should have been knocked out at this stage. Like that's my other issue with it as well. That like they've been horrendous and struggle and they've still got through. So it's sort of it, it. It takes it away a little bit. Like I understand the reasons why they did it but like sometimes I'm like some things work. Just leave them alone.
Right, right. Then we come through to today. I didn't expect to win this. Brentford are a very, very good team with a very good manager. They've scored more first half. They've scored more goals at home than anyone else in the league. Like this is a good team who are solidly mid table. They've only won nine games this season, which is a bit of a surprise. They scored 42, conceded 42. Like an organized team that should have beaten us, but it was the perfect victory for us. If we'd gone out and beaten them 5 nil, we would have lost the next five games. But this is the sort of game where you go boys, you've got it in you. You proved it. You can fight, you're scrappy, you can force an own goal. And a brilliant goal from sa. Well done lads. Go out and do that again. It was perfect. And son getting his assist as. As well. I. It was just the perfect game for us.
That is that. That's a group of players that are with each other and behind the manager. That's what you can say like the way that they put their bodies on the line, the grit and all of that. They are playing for that manager like.
It'S such an important point. He has not lost that squad.
He is not. He is not at all. And I also think what's interesting is like we played very differently today. We didn't play a high line. We were a lot more direct when we had the ball. Like that wasn't really the type of performance or result that you would associate with us in the last two seasons. So that's also good to see. I don't know if something has shifted in terms of for Ange his approach because we haven't seen us. You look back over the last few games from the Everton defeat onwards. The traditional and style of football an ball. We haven't seen it. We haven't seen it. With Everton he went to a back three, tried to change tactically, you know formation. Elfsborg was a lot more of a controlled performance. Today was very much like a. Like a Mourinho and Conte low block play on the counter. Like just deny the opposition transitions. Just we're just not going to play in A way that's going to allow you to nick the ball off of us. So I don't know if something shifted with, with him, but there are, I mean he, I've always been a believer that he, he adap he adapts in game anyway. But the, it's the, the way he set us up from minute one has been fundamentally different to what he has been doing previously.
Yeah, I feel, I feel he's had this sort of Blockbuster or Argos moment. And what I mean by that is I said 10 years ago blockbuster looked at Netflix. Right now they're not going to do anything. We're going to just sell DVDs. And what they should have realized they didn't sell DVDs. They got movies to people. Whereas Netflix went in and said, well we, we do DVDs and then we're going to do it digitally. Argos, Argos, they saw themselves as a shop with a massive warehouse out the back and you typed in your numbers and put your pen on your little paper. What they should have gone is we are the shop of everything they could have been. Amazon and Poster Cognus had his blockbuster moment because am I person who is here to do this high line super attacking football or am I here to get goals with a super attacking style? But I can flex how I do that. And I feel like he's come out the other side. I feel like we've seen quite a lot of maturity which I, I've criticized him for for a long time and for the first time this week I've seen. Right. I've had to change and I have changed. Yeah, was before he wouldn't have changed like that after that Chelsea game. He did not change the November last year, the year before last. And I really, really respect him for that. And he has to be given the credit for that. And I don't think this is the ange that everyone's been talking about who was in Australia was in Scotland. I feel like he's matured, like he's gone. This is really hard. I've had the test and actually he's passed. And I, I. Even if we'd lost today by one goal or two goals, the fact that we played the way we did, I fully respect him for that. I fully respect him for that. And he's. And the team we've got out kins.
Can I just say, can I just say on that as well? I hope that one of the other things I think he's looked at has gone is that Ben Davis come back into the Side is a really good, solid, dependable defender. Like to get the best out of the team defensively. With a pairing of Graham Davis, it doesn't take a genius to go. We might have to sacrifice a bit more of the ball and a bit of territory and I actually think he didn't have the best game. Davies away at Everton. I think he's made a big difference just having him back fit. He's not a superstar, we've always said it but he's dependable and like he was up for it today. Like body on the line like you could in the interview after the game. Like he had a smile on his face that like he's got that old school mentality of like that's a gritty, ugly two nil win that in two years time. When people go do you remember that two new win at Brentford? Everyone will go no like but he'll remember it because it was like I dug in, I got a clean sheet and that was three points. Like it's that I think we've lacked a little bit with what I've said it for most of this season, like we've lacked some leaders and some men in the side to help those young players through. And I've criticized Dragons in I do feel for him because he's a young man himself at 23, 24. Like he needs guiding himself especially playing at center back. And I just think that little bit of experience, a little bit of know how Davis coming back in Bentonkor and Basuma together in the middle of the park. I thought son had a really good game today. Not in the traditional what you would associate son with. I thought his general link up play worked his socks off defensively and again he showed a bit of leadership today. Like points in the game where we're not playing well, let's just get in and be together for a little bit. I was really impressed. Really. Really. Because we haven't, we haven't won a game like that underhand yet. So that was hopefully a bit of a sliding doors moment.
Yeah. So Ange, if you're listening, well done. You know what you're doing, you know what you're doing. Finally talking of leadership, I was listening to a rugby podcast and they were talking about the first Lions tour. Although there's a brilliant dvd, I think you, you should watch it. It's called Living with the Lions. It was, it followed British Irish Lions when they went on tour to South Africa in the 90s. I think it is but like it is in the changing rooms. It's not like the Amazon ones, which is a bit, yeah, pr. It's in there and you get to see it. But they had a team full of like leaders. Like these are proper men leaders like got Lawrence Dalalio and Martin Johnson and all of these players, all these people, they're talking about the team now where the England captain now, Mario Toje has only been captain for Saracens from, for, not for a couple of months, like three or four months. And Mike Johnson was saying he thinks that the rugby premiership should have a rule that every club should be captained by an Englishman. Because then when they go and play for England, every person is a leader that goes there because you'll take the best player from every club, not because they want to force the clubs to bring on more Englishmen, but for the benefit of the English game. I think it's a brilliant idea for rugby. I think it's different. How do you feel if the Premier League brought that in? There's a question here about what the role of the captain is as well, isn't there?
Yeah, it's. I don't, I, like, I, I initially I'm like, no, that's. That I don't, I don't agree with that because it's like your nationality's got nothing to do with. Are you the right leader for that group?
Yeah, no, absolutely.
Like, so that, that would be my, my thing. There would be some, there'll be some sides where actually an English captain would make sense because the values of that club and what they need out of a leader more, more inclined to like traditional old school British style football. I don't know how that would. I just think the whole cap, so, so to answer your question, like, no, I don't like that as a, as a rule. I just think the whole captain thing now is just a really interesting topic. And like leadership in general is so interesting now because it's completely different. And what I think is really intriguing is if you were to go over, if you were to speak to 100 people in the south, stand at spurs next week and say, what type of character would you want as a captain? I guarantee you 90 of those people say, I want someone loud, someone that's passionate. Do you know what I mean? SHOUTS AND SCREAMS and you know, the, the Roy Keane, John Terry, Tony Adams type leader, like, that's what a lot of football fans like, yeah, that's what you want. But like, actually like football's not that anymore. Like, and it's very, very different. And like, I find it difficult watching it sometimes and being like, where's the person that's just, you know, when moments are tough to really sort of dig each other up. But like that's not what. That's just not what the game is anymore. Which is, which is really interesting. You see a lot more lead by example captains, don't you? And it's like arm around the shoulder and it's like they actually come into their own more when things are going well, they'll elevate the team even more. Not actually when things are going bad, pull them out of a difficult situation. It's just, it's interesting to see how much it shifted because go back and look at the captains in the Premier league in the 90s. Just go back and look at who they are and I guarantee most of them will be British and most of them will be that old school character because that's what it was at the time.
Can I give you a. So I think there's a point where the younger generation don't want to be shouted out and I think that that changes where completely in the 90s the club was bigger than the player then as players became superstars, the player became big in the club. But I feel like it's swinging the other way a little bit now and I do think there's a point. Yes, leaders can be quiet and set by, set high standards through how they work, they can be personable. There's all sorts of different st of leadership. I think there is space for a bit of alpha sometimes because what alpha does internally it also drives externally as well. So it creates the voice against the referee, it provides intimidation against the opposition. I think it gives them a sort of hero for the strength on the pitch that whilst other mate, other people can lead by example. And let's not forget like people can talk in the dressing room as well. Like I'm sure Kane did most of the talking where Hugo was there and captain. But I think having that figurehead, that alpha figurehead I think is actually quite a good idea. Idea.
It's that ability to be able to do both, isn't it?
Yeah.
And that's what, that's what Now I think when you look at a lot of captains, I don't think many of them can. I actually think one of the best captains that there's been in the real, real sort of 2020 onwards, Jordan Henderson at Liverpool. I think he's a brilliant example of like what you've just spoken about, but also how great he was with younger players as well. Coming through players that have maybe not played in the Premier League before and needed that. I thought he was really good for Liverpool being able to do a little bit of both. But again, like if I was to say to you in the Premier League, like, who are captains that you think are. Like, who are some captains that you like? Yeah, they're a great captain. Would you even be able to name that many?
No. I always come back to that story about Roy Keane, about if you're. When you transferred in your first. I'm not a fan of Roy Tate Keane at all. I think he's a bully. I can't stand him. Like, I think the sky, all this guy stuff would be better without him, but I know, yeah, it just irritates me. But he would ping a ball at you really fast and if you couldn't control it, you were done. Yeah. And that's the standards that you would set. And I. We miss that sort of level where you just go, who is going to him saying it's just not good enough. Your feelings. Yeah, you're not. You're not good enough. You need to raise your game. Like that's the attitude we've been missing at spurs from all the way to the top.
That's exactly what I was going to say. Like if you look at most football clubs now that old school captain, old school manager, it doesn't exist anymore. Like look at the top, top managers in the world.
No, no.
There's only the only one really that there's a couple. Maybe you can still put in that old school category, Ancelotti. But again, I think there's a real soft side to him. I think he's just always been able to flex it. And you probably say Conte is the only other one. Top manager's still at the absolute top. But, but, but he's not at the top though, is he anymore? That's, that's the thing. It's like he hasn't it as. As that. That as the generations have changed and the personalities have changed, he hasn't. And he doesn't get the same out of players anymore than what. Than what he used in Turkey.
Right. Exactly. What I'm not trying to be is like the anti woke like things have changed. But I do think then there will come a bit of a change where it's just a bit more hardcore coming.
Okay. It's accountability. I feel like it's basically someone that is gonna. Someone that's gonna go right asd, you're playing at center half today. It is your responsibility when that ball comes in the Box, put your nut on it and like. And if you don't do it, it's your fault. And it's like, I don't think those kind of conversations even really happen anymore. It's like, you know. Yeah, it's just, it's. The game has just changed a lot. But like, I do agree with you. It's like you, you. I think what's quite telling is like, I don't know what the stats are. I feel like you don't get as many big sort of comebacks anymore in football because, like a team will go a few goals down and like they're beaten. Like, you don't have that person that rallies side and you know, fight back and you know, when was the last time a side were 2, 3 nil down and come back and won? Like, there's probably loads of examples Brahmin Brian did against us this year. But I just don't think that, like, I don't think that football, the momentum changes that much in games that you know, anymore. But it's a really interesting one to just see how much it shifts and maybe actually football always works in cycles. Will that start to change again at some point? Like, maybe it will.
I think it will. And that's what. That's. That's the point here is like, should there be an English person at the forefront holding that standard high in the Premier League? I think there'll be a lot of teams that benefit. But if you have a look at our team today, we had three English players. You had Gray, Davis, Moore. No, sorry, Gray, Spence, more. They're not going to be the ones that do that in this club, in this team. The. The one who will come closest to it would be Kudaseski. I think giving someone a bollock in for a. Yeah.
I reckon Ben Davis and I do think that's why the last few games we've looked a little bit different, a little bit tougher. Just having like, I think he has got those old school. It's not English but like British football values. Do you know what I mean? Of like, you know, like, I feel like he would have been one that would have enjoyed content Mourinho.
Yeah.
And the harshness of it, like, I think he would have quite like. I think he strikes me as a kind of guy. Ben Davis is that lovely guy for the pitch but like he enjoys a bit of pain on the pitch. Like he enjoys it like physically or like when the team is suffering. Like, he's like, this is my moment. Like, this is what I'm here for.
Yeah, for sure. I'm reading a book called Happiness by Design at the minute. It's really good. And they talk about happiness as two areas. One is that they're interlinked. So one is pleasure. So what most people talk about when they think about happiness and one is about purpose. Not in like the business advertising way that we will hear about but like in the. What's the end goal? If I'm fast forward into six months later, is what I'm doing driving the thing that I want it to be, will I look back and go those actions. So when you go to a gym you enjoy the effects afterwards, but it hurts. And when you recover and you've got your doms, that hurts as well. But your purpose is like, I'm going to get fitter, I'm going to get stronger and I'm going to live longer. It's that sort of thing. I think Ben Davis's purpose has been resolute since day Dot. Like he's the ultimate professional. I hope he stays with us for a very, very long time. You know, you can see him being part of the backroom staff, even coaching. Yeah, soon. I. I love the man. Not just because he's Welsh, partially because he's Welsh.
He's. He's one of those players that I do think falls in that same category as a Jordan Henderson that can do both.
Oh God, yeah. Do you know who he reminds me of? Like modric. Not. He's not modric. He's like class, like well beating star. But just did the ultimate professional. Knows what he knows his role does it perfectly. He. I don't think he could have been any better than he is.
No, I agree with that. I agree. I think he squeezed every ounce of football that he could have got.
You know, we think he's really old now. He's six years younger than me now.
What is he like 30, 31? 32. Is he?
He's not 31. He'll be 32 in April. Player, Welsh captain.
He's had a really good career and he like genuinely, when you look back at it, like he's done really, really well.
Viborg was that replay for. I'm gonna have to google it.
Yeah. And then he was at youth career.
Swansea, Viborg, Swansea. And then he came to us from.
Swansea and he was part of the Swansea league cup winning side as well, wasn't he? When they beat. Was it.
Oh.
Who did they beat from the lower leagues. Bradford got to the final. That's right. Cracking massive week Ahead though. This is it. Like this is real crunch time.
Yeah, we got Liverpool. You didn't get tickets, did you?
No, we just missed out. Didn't have enough points, which was a shame. My dad been a season to get older for 45 years. But he's not loyal enough to get a ticket for Liverpool away. But you know, that's what it is.
Rob got his ticket. Rob's going, did he? Yeah. So Rob's going. I'll see if he wants to come down. Come back on. But what. How nervous is that game going to be?
I think people have got to get real with that game. They're like, we're going to Anfield. And it'd be like if we were just playing Anfield in the league and we scored in the first minute and went one nil up. Are you going right with this? Is that like we're definitely going to win? Of course you're not. Like, do you know I miss one goal, it's one goal. We're massive underdogs. We're massive underdogs.
Gone to a massive underdogs. I will guarantee a goal within the first 10 minutes. Whoever scores that will win. That's my bet.
Be classic. It'd be like, we've got the ball. We give it away. Like Luis Diaz just scores, you know, just. Just like a completely avoidable goal.
I can really see that they're getting back at us for the game two years ago where we cheated to win. Like they've never cheated to win anything.
They're all doing vast celebrations and all that. Ye.
Whatever. I'm expecting us to lose. Not just because they are the best team in Europe at the minute. They're nine points ahead to the league. They've got one of the best players in the league, all of that stuff. And we are at our worst. I think we'll see Vanderbim come back and I think he'll have an absolute stormer of a game. Spence will keep sounding quiet. We might lose to a couple of goals, a Nunez gold or something.
But for us to get. For us. For us to get through, you have to hope that Liverpool have an off day. Firstly because if Liverpool and eight or a nine, they'll beat us. Doesn't matter what. They're better than us in pretty much every single position they'll beat us. The chances that we get. Because whatever happens on the night, we will have chances against Liverpool. We have to take them. Like we've just got to be in one of those clinical moods where like two chances both fall to sun and he puts them both away.
I'm playing him center forward. I'm not playing him on the wing because I do not want him tracking back and knackering himself. I'm playing him left foot, right foot. You. You are?
Yeah. I'd maybe agree with that. Like, it might be a game where actually like you say to Richarlison your plan, but I need you to do a job off the left and track Alexander Arnold a bit more. Absolutely. So we've got to be clinical and you've just. You've just got to hope that you like a little bit of luck. You might get a decision, go your way. Like it's those little fine margins. All of that's got to go in our favor for us to. You know, we're gonna have to score two on the night, aren't we? Like, realistically, like, you can't see us keeping Liverpool quiet.
I think we'll score one. I think we'll be okay.
You know, it'll be such a Spurs thing that like they beat us two one on the night and we go out on pens and it's like we would have got thrown away goals. That would be like, wouldn't it? That'd be classic.
Would you rather go out now to a two nil then get to Wembley and lose to Arsenal five?
Oh, God, yeah. God, yeah.
Like, we've got to be careful of that.
Like losing to Arsenal in the final would be the worst. I couldn't. I don't. You know what? I wouldn't want to go through a final against them. Like, even though like, imagine, imagine breaking the trophy drought by beating them. Could you imagine what that like, they would never be able to say anything again. It would just be the ultimate. But like the flip side, like, imagine planet Wimbledon. They're just comfortably bleed as two nil and it's like, you know, they just control us and it just would be you just slowly being strangled. It would be horrible to lose that.
That Chelsea final we went to with the foot. Was it four two, five two, something like that?
Oh, it was an FA cup semi, wouldn't it? Yeah. We played well that day.
I've seen.
Yeah.
Erickson to Delhi. That whip ball around the corner.
But can I say for, for the neutrals, a Carabao cup final of Newcastle against Spurs would be unbelievable. The tension in that stadium could. That's two teams that are so desperate to win something and like whoever loses that final would just be like completely destroyed. Like that would be. That atmosphere in that final would be Something that you just don't see too often. That would be really really great. Yeah, that'd be really really good. That'd be the most cadiest 1 nil wouldn't it ever final that you're ever gonna see. So fingers crossed we can do it. Look with the underdogs it's. You know.
Yeah.
Anything can happen.
Then we've got Villa. It's on BBC which is. Which is nice next Sunday. I'm more worried about that weirdly than the Liverpool game because Liverpool game is almost a free hit. Right. It's just. You hope we can do it.
It's tough. I think it's tough if Liverpool knock you out to then pick yourself up a couple of days later and go again at Villa. Villaroy is a really tough game like team since Emery's gone in at Villa Villa don't lose at home. Not very few teams go there and beat them. I know we did, didn't we? Hammered them there in the league last year. Was it a 4 nil, wasn't it? Which was an amazing win. That's a really tough game. I don't think that they're in the best run of form though at the moment. Villa which is a good thing. Like they look again like I watched them against Wolves yesterday. They look at. They look a little bit jaded, a bit tired. So I don't think it's the worst time to be playing.
But it's just drawn. Drawn.
It's just a tough game. Do you know what I mean? It's a tough game. I think they'll be equally nervous because I think we are dangerous opposition because you just don't know what we're going to do.
Yeah, I think they're really dangerous and I think they'll just go back to basics and they'll beat us. Tell you what it's interesting.
We hammered to my estio during the season in the league at home we're beating four one. We absolutely hammered. Yeah I remember in that game we've.
Actually had some great matches this season which we forget about the last few. The The City game is on the 26th of February. That's a really interesting game because we should have most of our players back then and City really aren't very good I don't think. Anyway. Anyway. Who knows. So what are you going for? Liverpool Villa just give me a win or a loss for both.
Lost to Liverpool and then a win at Villa from the other way around. Which would be like if we can be Liverpool. My God.
Yeah.
Or even like we should when you have to draw, didn't we, like. I mean, just get. Just find a way to get through. Yeah. How amazing would it be last minute, you know. Goal. Richarlison. Like, can you just imagine Mikey Moore great with him.
I think he. We need to build him up physically, like quite significantly soon. He gets bullied a bit. Mikey.
More technically, he's fantastic. I just think. I just think, like 17, like.
Yeah, he's not amazing.
It's insane. We could loan him out for the next five. We could loan him out for the next seven seasons and bring him back and he'd still be younger than what Jed Spence is now. Like, that's how young. That's how young he is. So I think he look. He looks fantastic. He might end up being one actually that they look at next season because it's very unlikely we're going to be playing European football that actually they go. Go and play somewhere for a season. Like, even if you're playing a. I don't know how much he would get out of playing in the championship to be completely just going to get lumps kicked out of him. But could he go and play somewhere for a bit?
Have you seen them in your mouth's little run today?
Decent.
He's a player, that boy.
Decent, isn't it? Unbelievable. Unbelievable. And I also saw that we'd loan. We've loaned Will Lank Sheeran. We out for the rest of us in the West Brom.
Yeah.
Which is an interesting one because here's some people talking on Twitter today going, actually, like, that's quite a high level for him to go out on loan to because, like West Brom are pushing for promotion. Like, do you know what I mean? Like, that's top end of the championship. Like, that'd be a great learning curve for him.
Yeah. I'll just say.
News.
Half an hour ago, Tottenham have agreed a loan deal with Chelsea for Axel D. Sassy.
That's a weird one. That's a weird. That's a weird one because he doesn't fit the profile of one. He can't move.
No, it's a bit odd. It's just.
But they're just giving us depth. Yeah. It's just another player.
Yeah.
Yeah, it's another player. But I. I agree with you. I wonder if that's. They. They're. Romero's off. Big Kev's come in. It's a loan with an obligation to buy and then they'll have a.
This is with no buy option.
Oh, no, sorry. What the dance. I Want. Sorry. Yeah. That's what I mean. Sorry, that's what I mean. So he's ours. And then they'll. They'll do disassi for six months and be like, let's have a look.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And then we also let out Min Hyuk Yang as well to QPR who played yesterday as well. So good luck to him.
Yeah. Again he looked like another one. Just you just look at them and you go like you need to just fill out. You just need to get a bit stronger in a bit.
Again, he's so young and just get used to the pace as well.
Yeah.
Ashley Phillips. Right. If we haven't recalled him, surely we've got to be going like what's the future for you? Unless it is just you are one for a couple of years time. He's only 19. Visit Stoke. Yeah. Do you know what I mean?
Unless. Unless they looked at it and went, if we recall him, you're gonna sit on the bench for most of it. We'd rather actually stay where you are and play.
Yeah.
And like we'll, we're gonna bring someone in in Jan. So you're going to be fourth choice. You might not even make squads.
Yeah. You are telling you we needed Joe Rosen.
Big Laden, Big Joe Roden.
Welsh mafia. Still the best content spurs have ever reduced highlights or Otherwise was the two week Q&As he did with Gareth Bale. We talked about aliens.
Who. Who are the young like, who are the young Welsh players coming through now? Because Ben Davis is not as old as people think.
As.
As I mentioned. But like spurs have always had good Welsh representation. Who's the next one? Like who do you want us to. To go and get as sort of the next gen of player coming through?
Oh, there's a few but I mean the ones I, I wanted were Neca Williams scored, didn't he? In the. In the. Yeah.
You did always talk about him, didn't you? And say would have been a good spurs fallback.
Yeah. There's not many like we are really like Harry Wilson's one of our better players at the minute. Like there's Welsh international sport is not in a great place. Like we've had a few golden generations and we're just done now. So if I ever look at the young players now there's Brennan. Johnson is 23. Like the. I'm just looking at him now. There's not many names. Dan James, he's 27 now. Dan James, is he?
Yeah, I thought he was. You know what I Thought he was going to be really, really good three or four years ago.
Me, too. But, like, the senior international, Connor Roberts, Bernie's 29. Like, Joe Roden's 27. Now Reese Norrington, Davis, 25. There's Metham. Chris Methem is 27. Like that.
I think it shows you when you read some of those names out that actually, like, for Wales, to just even being in with a shot of qualifying is like, some going in it. Like. Do you know what I mean?
Like, we're a very small nation, but also, these are championship players.
Yeah. At best. Some of them.
At best. And this is what the majority of international football is. You've got. England are used to going, we're top of the tier. Like, there's very few teams England should worry about, really, in all of international football, because qualifying, even never really have any problems. Yeah. Whereas Wales, it's like how many major tournaments we qualify for? 3.
Yeah.
4.
Yeah. And actually the. The smaller nations that England go, yeah, that's fine. Like, that's normal. That's. That's who you're competing against, isn't it? Like, when you. When you play a Finland, it's like, this is.
This is.
This is a massive game. Like, this will be tough to win.
Yeah. I remember when we played, was it Slovakia, Slovenia? And it was like, Marek Hamzik is on the other side. You go, right. Like, he runs the show.
Yeah, we're in. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
But they're looking at us going, they've got Gareth Bale, who was legit, one of the greatest players of all time. But, yeah, so it's not great at the minute. The rugby is really depressingly bad, and we're going to wooden spoon it again this year.
Have you seen the. The Welsh guy that's doing the running challenge?
Based on the rugby results, he's doing a mile. Favorite points different.
Yeah. Yes. I was gonna say, oh, my God, he's doing an ultra marathon. Near enough, then. Christ, I think we'll never see him post a video again because he'll just be. He'll just be constantly running.
Yeah.
That's hilarious. He's definitely now thinking, I should have done a kilometer, not a mile. I should have done a kilometer. We should have done a meter because.
I don't know where we're playing. England, I think, oh, it's in Wales this year. But if we were at Twickenham, that could be 60 nil. And. Because England would just be up for it.
And so funny watching his challenge. And he said, didn't he that he's committing to doing it before the next game. So he's even put time constraints on it.
Like the. The documentary on Netflix is worth watch as well. It's good. Yeah. Right, mate. Big week. Probably our biggest. Come on in terms. Come on what it means for the season. I think it's been about as good a week as it could be to prepare for next week.
Definitely.
So it's good time to be a Spurs fan. Unless you're on the Internet or on any spurs supporting groups. Otherwise it's quite miserable.
Any.
Any other business, who would you sign? But we didn't. We didn't cover that. Who would you say?
Like, I still position. I. I still look at the sort of sitting midfielder position and I, I still think we lack. But the whole thing of like, who do you go and get that, like, honestly, I don't know. So defense was the biggest one for me. I was like, we had to get a defender in. I don't like the sassy, but I've been very limited to what I've seen. But the fact we've gone and got two center backs, like, at least there's just bodies in there now, do you know what I mean? That have played at a level so you hope that the manager can do something with them. But apart from that, it's hard because when the players are back fit, like, it's not as desperate as what it's been and like they're only sort of a couple of weeks away, aren't they? A lot of them now again close to coming back. So center back in the immediacy was the biggest, biggest issue I think everywhere else it doesn't really matter because the League campaign is sort of a bit down the toilet. It's just what can you get out of the next week? So I'm happy we've got center backs in. I like the look of Dan. So just from a look at his Prof. Look at his profile. He's big, he's pacey. Like, he's. He's a similar Van de Vent. Maybe he's not quite as big and quick as him, but that's what we need.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, man. I. That hold the midfielder, that is. You can't mess around with that because it's not like a center back. We can go get four of them and hope two of them work like you need one. That's why Arsenal paid 100 million for rice. That's what we're gonna have to do. Go. Who's. Who's 80 million.
That's. That's why I think the solution. We're not going to do that. Right. We're like when if that player was available, one winner, one, we're not going to go and drop that type of money and two, if we were, that player is going to want to go somewhere else. Like ultimately like why would 100, 100 million pound player come to Spurs?
I agree with you. Your second point. The first one, we spent 60 million on Richardson.
Like that.
He's not an the a top six elite striker and we spent 60 mil so up to 80 mil for an elite player. However, you're absolutely right. Right.
This week those big purchases we've done because we did spend 60 odd on Solanke and that that's been great. But then we also spend it on and Dembele. So I just think the club's very nervous.
Yeah.
With a big purchase like that. So I actually think that the solution is look, we can't go and get that one player. I think I've said this for about a year. A Basuma, Benton core base. A pair is I think is the solution. If you, if you can't get one, it gives you a bit more control. He hasn't played it, he hasn't utilized it and because of injuries and suspensions he just hasn't utilized it.
So SA isn't playing unless you're playing a 3. But then one of those two will be pushed forward.
I think. I think a base of those two as you're interesting and I really like sa. I think he could do with a bit of time out the side he took like he done really well when he come on today but like he's all about legs and that, isn't he? And it's like if we're looking to control games a little bit more. He's not a midfielder that offers you control in. In a team. He doesn't. I think those two and then Kulusevsky just in front that. That gives you quite a nice bit of control. If they could go and identify a player that's amazing that can play in that position. That's a bit unknown.
Cool.
Then maybe you just go with one of.
With.
With that player and then there's a bit more space for Sar. But I think it's difficult to find that person because all the top teams want that player. That's.
That is what's so hard options now. Right. Because what you were just saying. Basuma and Benton core with Kulusevsky in front. Then you go cool son Solanke Johnson and then. But then you've got massive variation in what you can do with sa. Madison within that as well. Bergwell as well. That's really exciting. Mikey Moore and that. That's the sort of option we'll have.
Bergfell is going to be a player like Bergval, without a doubt. You just look at him on the pitch like he's so brave. He's the one that I look at out of all these youngsters and I think that's. That is a real footballer in there. Like he's really, really good footballer.
Yeah, yeah, he runs with Odegaard and I think Odegaard's really, really, really good. Yeah, he's just a top quality football player. Like Saka's great. But I think Odegaard, either one, I.
Take from Arsenal, he just does everything high quality, everything.
His attitude's great as well.
Like he's one that like Madrid dropped it, letting him go. Yeah, like, wow.
Yeah, for sure. Right, long pod. Lots to say. See you in a week.
Come on.
Come on. Suppose big week. This is where the fans should make some noise as well and stop moaning about stuff for a while. Not having to go. Just saying, like, this is the time to join up.
Shut up.
Just shut up. Stop singing about Levy and support the club for just for this week. All right, mate, always a pleasure. I'll see you in a week. And don't forget, the future's bright. The future's nearly white. Come on, you Spurs. I always thought there was very, very.
Many people interested in football.
And I always thought that football was a very important game. But I never realized until today just.
How important it is. One of the wonder boys of Pieteart Lane. Are or are not the team of the century can't possibly be more than a matter of opinion. Well, they're the finest team in Great Britain. One of the best in the world.
We are about the glory of the game. We are about playing with style. We are Tottenham Hotspur. The coast, the curve of the ball, the billow of the net, the beating of the trap and the picking of the lock. The swiftness of thought, the lightness of touch. We are Gineler, Greaves, Klinsman. We are the collective gasp, the intake of breath, the flick, the trick, the 30 yard free kick. We are Hodl, Mabbit and King. We are the lob, the chip, the dummy and the volley. We are the hat trick, the scissor kick. We are Bill Nick.
That is schoolboy's own stuff.
We are the outside of the boot, the inside of the net. And those seconds that last forever.
Vandervar to level it up.
Raphael Van der Vaart. Two, two. It's quite a game, isn't it always?
We are Jennings, Defoe and Perryman. Glory past, glory future. What was, what is, what's next? We are Blanchflower, Ardelis and Bale. We are about winning with a flourish. We are about winning with style. We are about the glory of the game. Daring to try, daring to risk, Daring to dream. To dare is to do.
It's all over top and we're one o'. Clock really stubborn. Going all the way again here. And Le has kicked him out. Oh, this is incredible. This is quite incredible. Truly a glory, glory day for Tottenham Hotspur.
