Ben and Richard discuss Tottenham's recent form and managerial troubles. They dig into the club's European competition history and what's gone wrong on the pitch lately.
Hello and welcome to Echoes of Glory. I'm asd.
And I'm Jack.
How are you doing? How are you doing? How much do you love watching Tottenham Hotspur right now?
Oh my God. It's tough, isn't it? It's a tough watch.
It's just joyless is what I think. Yeah.
You know what? Today's been a bit of a strange football day because I sat and watched that shambles of a just nothing performance. Which didn't surprise me by the way. I fully went in today knowing what we're going to get beat and what the P's going to be. And then you like watch the cup final and you look at like the job Eddie Howe's done at Newcastle which is just you know like he it when he joined there they were in the relegation zone. Like they were in big, big trouble. And he's taken him into the Champions League and he's won a cup in a few years. Like it's an unbelievable job what he has done. So it is possible but like we're a million miles behind Newcastle ASD now. Like it's really quite scary at the moment that we could just. I really think we're just going to end up getting proper cut adrift. I think like Newcastle and like Villa who are into the quarterfinals the Champions League like they're ahead of us. Like I feel like like today you get beat at Fulham and you're like that sort of feels where we are. Like we're. We're no disrespect to them but like we're a Fulham really now. We're you know, just a mid table side that isn't particularly great. And it's like how mad is that?
I mean when I think of mid table I think a Palace that's a mid table side six points in front of us.
Palace will finish above us this season.
We are, we're mathematically out of winning the league. I did want to say that Liverpool have got 70 points. We got 34 with nine games to go. We can still clinch seconds. But Forest, Nana Forest. Do you know who their manager is?
I don't know. I don't know. But you know what? It all comes back to the. The thing of Nuno Conte, Jose Pochettino in recent years. They're not all bad managers.
Not at all. They're not bad managers.
They're not, you know. So it's hard at the moment. It's hard to keep motivated watching it. It was great that we got through against days without Kumar in the week.
Let's talk about that.
I actually went. I wasn't. I was planning on going. My brother had my ticket and he got a work hospitality club level. Like he was on the table next to Ledley Aussie and all. So he. So I ended up going anyway, which was great. And that was a. That was a really enjoyable game in terms of enjoying the madness and enjoying the. We know what this is. We knew it was so obvious. 2 nil cruising. You knew what was going to happen. Do you know what I mean? You knew it was going to be a mistake and it's going 2:1 and the pressure is straight back on. But it was so important that we got through, you know, like just vital. So I think we did well like that as outmart. Team are poor. They're poor. Poor team. But we only just beat them over two legs, which is, you know, the. The wiring thing. But there was some good performances in there. Having Mickey Van de Ven back, that transforms. I know it's poor opposition. It transforms the whole team. Him. I. I'd maybe even go as far as saying he's our most important player in the whole side.
I think he is for Angie's way of playing. But I think. Don't underestimate Romero as well because his passing ability breaks lines and I think he. Those two together provide. It's not just about center backs, it's about what they do going forwards or the threat. Can I give you a quiz?
Please do.
Tottenham Hotspur. The first side in major European competition history to have five players under the age of 21 score a goal in the same season. Who are those five players? Under 21. That's. I mean, that's amazing for a start.
What? Wow. That's incredible. Well, that's. That's obviously this year then. So Bergval.
Nope.
Oh, it's not.
He hasn't scored.
Oh. In Europe. Who scored in Europe as a teenager?
Under 21.
Under 21.
One of them scored twice.
Oh, Wilson. Odd. But he had a great game. Wilson Otter Bear. By the way, he looks lively. I don't think Harry Kane did.
No, no, these are this season.
Oh, the. Currently, yeah.
In the same season. So we've had five this season.
Has he? Dane Scarlett.
Dane Scarlett. Oh, the Bear.
No, don't. Archie Gray hasn't, has he? No, I don't think so. 2021. You know what? You've got me.
Mikey Moore.
How's he scored? I don't remember that.
Yeah, Lancashire. And do you remember Ajay scored as well?
You know what those early round Europa League Games they all honestly just blur.
Wait, can I. I can swap to a feature because I don't really want to talk about it. I've gone back to the info. I'm going to share my screens. Good for the chat right.
Podcast.
Great podcast but I've gone back to our European exits because I was trying to think I watched Liverpool and I was trying to. I thought when was last time we had like a magnificent defeat in Europe. Like when's the last time where you went do you know what they were just beaten by the better team or when how many times we've made tits out of ourselves And I went back to our first Champions League. It's the first Champions League exit. You know we beat young boys played in the group Verda 20 Inter Amazing Games against Inter like the most memorable games against Interview beat Milan in the most professional performances I've ever seen us do in Europe. The nil nil and the one nil. Then we played Real Madrid where we went away and lost 4 nil and lost the tie after Lennon bottled it. I don't class that as a good. A good send off.
We just didn't. We.
Yeah. Next year we didn't even get the group of Powak. Ruben Kazan and Shamrock. We Shamrock Rovers Poet came first. Ruby Kazan came second.
That was you.
Yeah.
Europa League that would it cuz that's what. Yeah. Jesus.
Next year we played Basel and we lost on penalties. That was the. Had the boy or Tom Hudon missed the penalties but quite embarrassing. I know his penalties Mo Salah scored in that game when it penalty where.
You couldn't see where the ball went on the telly. Like he left his foot and it was instantly out of shot and you.
But he did that little.
The little feet tipping type run up wasn't it that he was doing.
He's back Pogba. Now we're on to 1314 and we played Benfica and as tactics Tim.
That was tactics Tim.
I mean they're a good team. I don't didn't mind that too much but we.
But we. But that though that. That one was bad because the two two was away and then we lost to him three one at home.
We went one nil up with Eriksen in the first match. Oh no we didn't sorry. We were two nil down away from home.
Like look at the. Just look at the away leg like Chad least minute 78 minute 79. Yeah I know and it's like here we go, here we go. And then last minute just pouring it. I really Remember that game? Just like being furious because that wasn't a good Benfica team.
Nope. Next we went out to Fiorentina. We lost 31 over on aggregate. Mo Salah played in this game as well. I don't think we were particularly good in this game. Europa League, Borussia Dortmund we went out to in 1516. I can't remember much about these games to be honest.
Oh, they absolutely hammered us in the away game. Yeah.
Aubameyang Royce.
We, we played. We had a really, really weak side out in that first leg. Like I think like Josh Onima, Tom Carroll. It was that, it was that. I can't remember why. Did we maybe have a. Did we have something else going on around that time?
Still find the squads now.
Battered us. Yeah, Josh Onima was playing. It was like. I can't remember the context but we had a. We had a really. We didn't have a good side out at all.
But again, not great. This one Champions League where we went. We didn't get out the group in 1617.
Oh, this is at Wembley, wasn't it? This is at Wembley. Yeah.
And then we dropped into River League and then lost again.
Oh, hated that game. I hated that game. That was Delia Dele Alli got sent off in the home leg and we went.
That's right. Kane scored the own goal to help them and when Yama scored and then they scored in the 82nd minute to.
Help him and I think, I think Deadly got sent off in the. Maybe even in the first half. And it was just, it was, it just is an infuriating game. Yeah, it was infuriating.
Then the next year we still got in the Champions League. Then we went, went to Al Juventus. Now that's the game where. So I was definitely at that game. That was another Wembley one, wasn't it? Yeah.
Where they scored the first 10 minutes. Yeah.
And then. But they hadn't conceded at home for like 100 years, like an Italian team. And then Kane got a great goal fighting for it and Ericsson put a ball under the wall, didn't he?
Yeah.
And then when they came to our place, sun scored, we were going through and then Higuain and Dybala scored and I remember Buffon coming over to the fans and giving it to us in like a really classless way. That was a depressing game.
They done us that night. They absolutely done us. Like they had like a 38, 39 year old Barzakali playing at right back in that game. Like they just had old boys at the back and which could. We couldn't do anything.
That was the one where. What's his fate? But was it. Bonucci said we know the history of Tottenham.
History of the Tottenham.
The history of the Tottenham.
I mean, he's not wrong though, is he?
No, he's not at all. Liverpool. I mean that this the next year was 1819. So the group stage was an absolute shit show, wasn't it?
We nearly went out.
We were a goal away from going out. Do you remember him? We had to go away to Barcelona and win and he put a very young car Walker Peters in and he got torn apart by Dembele. Broke him, it looked like. But then Mora got on the edge of and we got the goal and they didn't know whether they were through. But the noise came from the crowd really high in the burnabout.
That's right. Because didn't PSV got a draw or might have even beat Inter and then that meant that the draw for us was enough to get through. Yeah, but even in that group stage, the Inter Milan game where we lost away two 1. Do you remember it?
We were winning the first game.
We were winning going into second half injury time and we lost.
Yeah. Erickson scored, didn't he? It was just again he scored a deflected looping.
Yeah, yeah.
And then the PSV at home game was a shambles because they went one the luck, didn't they? Then Kane got the long, weirdest header, didn't he?
Yeah.
Was that the one with the. The ball boy gave the ball.
No, no, that. That was. That's Jose. That was Olympiacos.
Oh, yeah, sorry. Yeah, yeah.
That was one of Jose's first games. That was.
The next three games were the best consistent run of Champions League of European football. Dortmund where we battered them. Those two near post goals, how good were they? And then Kane getting on that goal in the away leg. Proper Boston City. We all know what happened at City. What that. I think I would have died of a heart attack if I was at City for that last game, for that, that goal. That. That offside against Aguero was so harsh.
It was just. Yeah, amazing. Amazing memories. That that run was just bonkers. I genuinely. I just thought we were destined to win it that year because like it was such a chaotic route to the final.
Well, I ix knocked Real Madrid out, didn't they? They knocked you one of the. Another giant out.
But they battered Madrid in Madrid, didn't they? Did they beat him 4:1 in the Bernabeu, I think.
Amazing. Yeah.
Really tore them apart.
I think they would have beaten Liverpool as well. I've always had that feeling. And then we know what happened in the final next year, Champions League got beat by Leipzig. I cannot remember this game whatsoever.
Yeah, I can. At home. The home game. Werner penalty for Leipzig.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. It's a bit.
That was when that was Jose and we'd had a lot of injuries and I think Bergwine played up top like it was. It was not good.
Oh, yeah, it was not good. The. The worst of it. So that. That's another climax. Exit next one Zagreb. If you. And let me remind you.
Oh, God.
That we were 2 nil up from the home leg. Then after extra time, they won 3 nil when their manager was in prison.
That was an absolute. That, that, that. I actually think that that was one of the club's worst ever European results in the history. That.
I'll take it. I mean, look at how we had to get through. We had to go through a second qualifying round against Plov. We had to beat Shakenia in the third qualifying. We had to play a playoff round against Maccabee Hyen, where we beat him 72. Then we played a group stage where we won all our games at home.
Still lost one. Still lost one. New in answer.
Still went to answer. Yep. And went out to Saagreb, who had the manager in prison. Next year, first year, the Conference League. Wow. We should win this. You know, we think ourselves a top four team. We. Do you remember, we couldn't put. We only put two players on the bench. So they. They just said, fine, you lose three nil and you're out.
The other thing I remember from that season is the playoff round game against Pacos de Ferreira and we lost 1 nil away in the first leg. We lost 1 nil to them away. And it was like. Like that's. That's. That's probably the equivalent of non league side.
Yeah, yeah. Then next year, Champions League, we get out the group of Marseille, only just getting through with that Hoiberg amazing goal.
Yeah.
Was it Gwendouzi playing from. Yeah, yeah, they were.
It was last minute from Hoiberg.
Yeah, yeah. Like we were going out and we go and play Milan and I cannot remember the nil. Nil. A nil one to them. They. They won 1 nil at their place. And then they came to our place.
That was Conte. Yeah, I remember it. Conte and he. We didn't attack. Do you remember? Romero got sent off.
That's it. But quite late.
Romero got sent off and it Was like we have to. And he didn't he take off like Bergwine or Mora. Mora, yeah. Put a defender on and it was like we have to score that, we have to score a goal and you put in another defender. Oh, every single one of these is frustrating to look back on.
Right. And this is the point is we don't have a magnificent European record in the sort of modern era. I don't think there's some great games if I scroll up a little bit, but it's not great.
No. And especially away from home.
Always been bad away from home.
Interesting to look back on all of that though because there a lot of those teams that have knocked us out, you know, and you would, let's face it, Frankfurt are going to be on that list in a few weeks time.
This is what I brought it up. Mo Salah though, mentioned twice there. Basil Fiorentina. 11 finals now for club and country and he hasn't scored a goal. That wasn't a penalty.
I heard that earlier in the build up to the cup final. I was staggered at that.
Yeah. I've never been his biggest fan. You can't argue with his numbers. There's something about when he, you know, you know what I'm referring to. When he signed for Chelsea, there's lots of reports about how he wouldn't shake hands with Israeli players.
That's a stacker in like just stat, isn't it? You just would not think that whatsoever.
Kane doesn't do well in the big games, does he?
I, I often think at this time of the year, I think with Muslim players people forget that at the moment with Ramadan going on. Imagine playing a football game and you can't have a pre match meal at the right time and you can't hydrate.
Like I've started monks fasting, right, which is Sunday, you stop eating at 7 and you don't eat till Tuesday at 7. So you, you fast all day Monday, working wonders. Yeah, it's amazing. It's just starving yourself in it. It's one of those things where when you're middle class it sounds amazing but if you haven't got any money, it's just a fact of life, you know, it's just one of those things. But I'm useless by Monday night. Useless. I'm headachy. I can drink water. They can't drink water.
That's what I mean. And, and like you're not having to physically perform at. That's like. I think it's extraordinary when you see it actually at the Moment look like it's like I always have a little bit of a. Just to even just be able to get through an hour is extraordinary. Like let alone. Yeah.
Trying my best not to talk about spurs or the rugby. I don't know if you saw.
I did catch a bit of. It was out in the. A little pub crawl last night, yesterday afternoon, evening and it was on and people were very, very, very happy.
10 tries. This is the worst performance, worst result away. It's the worst result we've ever had and it's not going to get better anytime soon. Like it's a ten year thing that, that situation is worse than the top one because at least there's money. There's no money in Wales. It's very depressing.
Is it? But is it, is it better to have money and not be using it or to not have it? Know what I mean? Like what's more frustrating? It's like you can accept the Wales Rugby situation for what it is. Do you know what I mean? It's like there's only really so much you can do. Whereas the spurs one's like.
Yeah, because that feels like a, that's a, a financial and moral decision. Whereas if you haven't got any money, it's just a. You're forced into it.
Yeah, exactly.
Yeah. So that's depressing. So right, let's, let's, let's, let's focus our worst seasons. So in 93, 94 we lost 19 games. 97, 98, we lost 17. 03, 04, we lost 15. This year so far we've lost 15 and we've got nine games to go. We're losing more than half our games at the minute. So he could be on track to be our worst manager in the Premier League era.
I mean like he, in my opinion with it now is that he won't be the manager on the opening day next season. Like I just can't see a world where that happens.
If we look at it right, so let's, let's go. We've got nine games. Chelsea, we're gonna. I say we lose that one.
Yeah.
Then Southampton, Southampton are currently last. We should beat them. The problem with Southampton is it's three days after Chelsea, four days before our quarterfinal. Let's say we beat them Wolves away.
I think any, I think any away game asd. I'm looking at that and I'm going, I'm surprised if we don't lose.
Right, so then Wolves, then Forest and Liverpool, which we lose. That's already four.
We've got to go to West Ham as well.
West Ham, away Palace. Away. Palace are above us. Let's say we beat West Ham. So that's two victories. Villa will lose two. Brighton will lose two. I can see us winning twice more.
Yeah.
By the end of the season. Yeah.
We'll end up with, what, 20 defeats.
So seven losses and we're on 15 now. No, we're on 10. So it'll be 17 losses.
A lot. Now we're on more. No, 15.
Sorry. So we're 22 losses. Like that 38 game season.
Like, there's. There's no world where, like, he keeps his job. Like, the only. The only scenario where Angie's in charge in the up and down next season is if we win the Europa League. That's the. And that is just. We're not going to win it. Like, it's just not going to happen. And I do feel for him with the injuries and all of that, but it's like, we've not got that many injuries now. Like, we have got players back and like, we're still losing. It's just unacceptable in it. And it's like the worrying. The worrying thing is that you've got this group of players now that are like, it doesn't feel like that there's consequences to losing. Do you know what I mean? Like, it's just every press conference, like, oh, it's disappointing. Like, we'll try better and all that. And it's like, but we. You cannot lose that amount, that many football games. No, like, most teams, apart from the newly promoted sides, if they were having our season, they would be going, this is terrible.
Yes.
Do you know what I mean? What? Wolves would probably swap with us. Everybody else would go, no, no, like, no, like, that would be unacceptable. Like, if Fulham. If Fulham were having the season that they're having, he'd be gone. If. Well, West. West Ham have had a similar season to us. Their manager was gone, like.
So let me ask you this then. So we get to the start of next season, he's still there. Why is he still there? Assuming we don't win the Europa League and assuming we win half of our.
Games, there's no scenario where he's there. If we haven't won the Europa League, there just isn't work with me.
Because it's been awful for a long. Managers have been sacked for less than this. Mourinho went when he was in a position that was 10 times better than this. What were we? 5th and in the final, the only.
The only other Thing that I can maybe think of is that they're trying to sell the club at the moment and they're not going to invest in the summer much. Like, much money to even less than what we ordinarily would. And Angie's just happy with that. He's just happy to. To stay in charge, you know what I mean? And he's just like, yeah, that's fine. I'll just. I'll keep working with what I've got.
Really struggle. It's just. I don't care anymore.
Yeah, I'm just. I'm just used to losing.
How weird is that?
I'm just. I'll put it on. And I'm like, we're gonna get beat. We'll get beat today.
I think he's the first manager in a long time who is also okay with it. As in, he's okay with it because it's part of the plan, it's part of the structure. But it'll be two years he's been here, and it's not good enough.
You can't lose that many games. And when you've got young players coming in and playing for you, they're just going to get used to losing. And it's like, that is such a worrying situation to be in where, like, a lot of. A lot of these young players will have lost more games than they've won. Like. And how do you get out of that? Yeah, it's also very difficult if you. If you finish the season poorly. So if you look at most teams that have. That have had a bad season flick back to how they did in the last half a dozen games of the previous season, more often than not, they've ended the season.
Yeah.
And you just get used to it and comfortable because there's no. There's like. It's like, oh, well, it doesn't matter. Like, yeah. So I just. I think it's. I think it's just a matter of time, if I'm totally honest with you. I think that they. They have. They will already know who they want. They won't make a change at the moment because they won't be able to get their manager. They won't be able to get the person in because, like, why would someone join at this point? Like, it, you know, like, it just won't. It won't work fine. There's also the other question asked of who still.
I'm just getting the manager because there are not.
I. I don't look around and go, there's some. There's one or Two obvious names that, you know, we. We could go and get, because that's the. The pro. I genuinely think that the struggle that we've got now is we've got to get real about the caliber of manager we would be able to attract now.
Yeah. Because we've gone for some very good managers and they weren't given a chance.
Yeah.
So let me tell you. Available coaches, Gareth Southgate, Joachim Low. I take Joe Chimlow.
Never gonna happen.
Penhog, Xavi Allegri. And then Lopatigi. Gary o'. Neill. Aladichi. Sean Deitch.
There's nothing there.
Well, let me go through the Premier League managers. Just give me a simple yes or no.
I mean, you're probably yes to most of them.
Arteta. No, I wouldn't have him. Emery.
No. No, I don't. I don't want, like, a form. If he hadn't managed Arsenal. Absolutely.
Iriola at Bournemouth.
Probably. Yes.
It's gonna be him. Like, Thomas. Frank, Probably.
Yes. And I don't mean this disrespectfully, but, like, Iriola and Frank have done fantastic jobs. I just don't. I don't see it, like, they're going to come in and it's going to be exactly the same thing, and in two years, we're going to be going, oh, here, Iola. The club's too big for him. It was too big for him. He couldn't handle it. Or, like, he wouldn't adapt, didn't have a plan. But it'd be all the same stuff over and over and over.
Herzler at Brighton. You're not having it.
No. Like, it's just too hard. It's just too unproven. Mariska. No.
Glasner Palace.
I like him, but again, he's. He's in this. Like, I don't mean it sound harsh, but it's like, do we want the Crystal palace manager?
Like, I would take most at the moment. Moyes?
Nah.
The silver. Fulham.
Yeah. I don't mind him.
McKenna. Ipswich.
No.
Move on. This way. Slot Guardiola. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Amarin. This is an interesting one. We just take Amarin.
I don't like him. I don't like him. I don't like. I don't like his. There's just something about him that I'm like. I'm not. I don't know if he's too bullish or. I don't. You know what? I don't think he's a particularly nice man. That's the impression I get from.
It doesn't come across well, does he?
No. No. And I know you don't have to be like a nice man to be a football manager, but, like, I. One of the reasons that I've stuck with with Ange for so long is because, like, I like what he stands for. He's, like, he's authentic, he's got a bit of integrity about him. Like, this is true. And he, he. He hasn't done what all the recent managers have done and, you know, slag the club, you know, like. And I rate him for that and I rate that he sort of doubled down on his values, even though I might not necessarily agree with it. Like, I think he's a good person.
Did you listen to the Ratcliffe interview on the overlaps? I thought it was amazing. Amazing that an owner would do that. Imagine Levy coming out and doing that.
Well, hasn't he done. Didn't he do an interview with Simon Jordan? It's not come out. It'll come out in the summer. It'll come out in the summer.
Oh, interesting. I mean, I've had the brilliant idea because I listen to a lot of podcasts where there's people interviewing interesting people, but, like, Stephen Bartlett can't stand the man, but he interviewed some really interesting people. The high performance podcast can't stand Jake Humphries. So I've thought of a business where you can. Where it just edits out the host of podcasts, so people use it on this. Right. Just have a nice half hour of silence. That'd be quite good. But, yeah, I mean, if you're Amory and you're going into work with Ratcliffe, who's just like, everything's bad. You're. He's got. Your owner's gone out and said the team's bad, recruitment's been bad, managing's been bad. Maybe that's just being reflected in Amrit, where he's going. I just have to get rid of the whole team. I have to start again and they're going to back me because they can't afford to do anything else.
Yeah.
I don't know. Eddie Howe. Take Eddie. How would you?
Absolutely. You know what? I think Eddie Howe, with that today, has just put himself into, like, the. Not is not in the Guardiola level, obviously, but, like, I think he's put himself on that second table today.
What he's done for me is he's shown he's one of the few managers you can see who's gone from mid table to top tier. And that is a really hard job. We Saw noise, struggle with it. There's all the managers struggle with it. Nuno Santo?
No.
Durich at Southampton?
No. Did you. Can I say he did a great interview. Have you heard it?
No.
After their game this weekend. And the interview was like, you know, it's like it's looking almost impossible now for you to stay up. And he went, oh, we've, we're going down. He was like, we're down. And it was just like, just like the way he said it, like, it's so depressing. Like there was, there was no, like, look, it's been a hard season. Yes. Like, like we won't give it up, but we know it's almost impossible. Like, but next season, you know, the players will be, will be a year older, more experience, you know, there was no, it was like, yeah, we're down. Yeah, we're down.
Gone. Who's going to give him a job after this? Probably Australian under 21s Again, I'm not sure.
Like, I do, I do think, like. But we said the same thing about Nuno, didn't we? Like when he went, it's like, who's going to go anywhere near Nuno? And it's like he's, he's, you know, got himself back in mug and he actually, after spurs he went to one of the sounded teams and did it even worse out there and like then, then has come back. So I do, I think that there will be teams that would, would want Ange.
Teams, I think.
Yeah. Isn't it? But again, this is, this is the thing about you come and manage spurs now and your stock goes down after managing Spurs. So it's like, this is why I'm like, the managers that we, that we can attract are either the ones that are yesterday's top guys. Mourinho's, when we got him, you know, I mean, he was on the decline. It's that. It's that type of manager or it is the massive step up and that's what Ange was and this, this job for Ange and he's had a great managerial career, but this was a massive, massive step up for him.
Yeah.
And it's like that's the type of person that we're probably gonna have to go and get again. And it's like more often than not that like you either have to give that person proper time and money like Potch or, or it just doesn't work. So I don't really know where we go. Like, the only thing I could see potentially are some like young coaches that they might look at. They might look at Scott Parker, they might look at Michael Carrick who are doing really, really good jobs.
And like you suggesting Ryan Mason is that easy. No.
No way. No way. We've seen it, we've seen him. They might, they might look at that. But it's just none of it is inspiring.
No. Who of the. Since the. The 201112 Champions League season, which experts player would you least like to come who's not playing anymore?
Because oh, I love that question.
Because my. The worst one would be Ndombele without a shadow of a doubt. Can you imagine him?
That's such a great. I'm just trying to rack my brains at the moment.
Everyone I'm thinking of now I go, oh, Crunch. I'm not sure if they're still playing, but like Chawluca, I'm sure Chu Luke would make a great just solid manager.
Vlad Kirikos Soldado.
How can you imagine Just.
Just be that just be would just be like weak and poor team, wouldn't it?
Cher is currently the assistant manager of Croatia. See.
But I think what, what, what worries me is that there isn't really a great deal of managed out there. I don't know enough about the French leagues, the German leagues and like what teams are doing well. There's. Because there will be upcoming managers in those leagues that are doing really well. Like I don't know who's in charge at like Mallorca for example, but they're like sixth in La Liga, so there's obviously something good going on there. So I don't have enough knowledge of the European leagues and what teams are doing well. But you'd assume that there are some good managers out there. But it just worries me that we're going to end up having a Nuno type appointment again where it's just a bit.
Oh, I've completely not listened to anything you've said because I have, because I'm rude. But also, what was the story about Chawluca and the watch? Do you remember this?
I've never heard this. I've never heard this. I really, really hope this is something that you've made up in your head and you convinced yourself that it's real.
Tottenham footballer Vedran Chawluca gives diamond hublot watch to a waiter. This he swapped wedges with a nightclub waiter. He had a diamond encrusted hublot watch with which was about 36 grand and swapped with the waiter who had a Seiko worth 100 pound. What he's got there, he has got pissed and someone's gone, you should swap watches. He goes, all right. And then he's woken up next morning, gone, oh, my God. I've swapped the watch where you could buy an amazing car and I've got a 100 pound watch which I could buy 50 of in the time I've been thinking this sentence.
Yeah.
He was 25 when he joined us. I thought he was about 30.
Say, yeah, from Man City as well. Wouldn't it really, like, weird, like, no one really remembers that he was at City.
We haven't done Pereira at Wolves. Just to finish off the manager conversation.
I wouldn't. I wouldn't take him. His. His managerial history as well. He just jumped ship.
Yeah.
Have you heard about his, like, he managed in South America and he managed like three rival teams in the space of, like two seasons and it was just like that. That's not the type of character. No, particularly one. But he's done a good job at Wolves, though, to be fair to him.
Yeah, I just keep on thinking of things I'd rather talk about Carl Walker in Italy. Like, I keep on seeing little clips of him just not standing properly. Delhi coming on for the first time in two years, getting sent off 10 minutes later and playing in Como. I mean, if you see where he lives, like the area, take it all day long. I'd go play for him for free.
Just like, harsh red card, wouldn't it? Like, like it now it is a red card. He hasn't meant it. Do you know what I mean? It's just one of those.
Yeah, he's just been a bit of an idiot. I think he's just excited and he. Yeah, it's a hard watch.
The other, the other. The other good news is we have got about 16, 17 days off of it all now.
We have. And hopefully no one gets injured on international break.
Romero.
Will Romero. Did you see? Obviously, we've seen Neymar. He's done more in his, like, couple of weeks he's been back in Brazil than he did the entire time in his Saudi Arabia on the pitch. And, like, he's played more and he went to Carnival and got ill just before his sister's birthday and he's got that really weird, close relationship with his sister. Just.
That's right, yeah.
Do you think if you were him, you'd look back and go, I could have done more? I really could have done more?
I think so. It's like he has had a great career, do you know what I mean? Like, he, like that Barcelona team he was in, like, that was fantastic. But, like, yeah, he did always strike me as a player that he had glimpses, didn't he?
Yeah.
So it's like, could he. Could. Could he have. Could he have potentially won a Ballon d' or? Maybe? Or, like, could he have done. I don't know. It's difficult in it. It's difficult. Like, he would probably say, you know, he's really happy with it.
Wealthiest footballers in the world ever. He's getting. He's closing on a billion in earnings.
He also got to captain his. He got to captain his country in a home World cup as well, didn't he? Which is also really, really unique.
And he won the Olympic medal with them as well. But he also led them to the most humiliating loss in Brazil's history was joint. You know, because they used to. Remember they. They used to play in white.
Yeah.
They lost to. Was it like the USSR or someone in the World cup final in Brazil, where they'd already put the name of Brazil on the trophy. They lost. And so they changed the color of the kit because people killed themselves after that. Apparently. You can still buy videos of that match where Brazil win, where they just end it at the first half and then just show clips of the second half because it's such a national tragedy. And it. It's the same here. But, like, I don't know, you could you go. When he was in the msn, Messi, Suarez and Neymar. You go on. He could be one of the best in the world.
Yeah.
I don't know, because I think about Oscar as well, who was amazing at Chelsea and would look like he was on the right.
Yeah.
But then I remember. And he went over to China and he played for Shanghai for seven years, didn't he? But he just said, look, my kids. Kids will never have to work. I come from the slums.
Like, this is generational wealth for eternity. Pretty much.
Yeah. Good luck to him.
Yeah. I think some, like, sometimes, like, you do just have to go, what's more important? And for him, like, going. You know what I mean? Going and doing that, making the right money. You just have to go through, like, for some people. Fair enough. Absolutely fair enough. And I like that. He just. He just owned it, though, didn't he?
He just did. Yeah. I'm gonna go.
Yeah.
Fair play to you. So that's it. But it's so hard with spurs at the moment. Like, I'm finding a real struggle. And we've got Chelsea next. And do you know what I finally get? It's my Least favorite game, right? I don't care that much. I'm not. I don't care.
I think just because you're going into. With the expectation of we're going to go there and get beat, like, so it's like it. It makes losing. Which is what's dangerous. It makes losing a lot easier because you're going into games being like, we'll probably get Beta.
But Chelsea are awful, though. Like, they're really. Their play is awful. So there's something. They're still fourth in the table, but there's something there. Assuming we come back with a break and we've got. Who would you start in that game? I don't know what our first. Like, there were seven changes today and I went, is that our first team?
He doesn't. But this is the other thing. He doesn't know his team because he makes subs at half time. I think it was a couple weeks ago on the pod. I was saying that, like, if you look at how we finish games versus how we start games, everything's drastically different. So it's like plan A just never seems to be right. Honestly, it's just an absolute toss up. And it basically seems at the minute that whoever he picks to start is getting taken off at halftime or after an hour because they haven't played well. Yeah. Basuma, what has happened? Like, I've never been. I've never been his biggest fan, Basuma. But, like, what has happened to him? Like, if you.
Have you read the criticism that Andrew said. Let me read this to you.
Is it Scaven?
It's unbelievable. I feel this is an postmatch. I feel Bis sometimes lets the game drift by him. He needs to be more dominant today. We needed more in that position. I needed him to play because he hasn't played a lot. At the same time, I needed him to perform. It is safe to say maybe Bis and a few guys lack a bit of confidence, but at this stage of the season, we need people to perform. Don't say that in public. What. What is the point of saying that in public?
I think when. I think when a manager is coming out publicly and saying stuff like that the player's gone.
Oh, God.
Yeah, the player's gone. But it has been dreadful, though. Asd you watch him play?
No, I know he's been poor.
Basuma, like. And like, the worrying thing is, again, like, if you, like what call, like, we'll get rid of Basuma. Where? Like, who's gonna go, I want Bisuma. He hasn't played. He hasn't played well for two years.
Yeah, he's a Turkey player waiting to happen. You can just see it.
Yeah, maybe, but. But then it's the whole thing of like, if he, if he sat on a decent contract to the spurs, which he will be on, like he's not going to get the same money somewhere else. Like, is he just gonna go, you know what, this manager will be gone soon anyway. Because that's how it works at Spurs.
He's got a year left. He leaving at the end in summer.
Next time he's gone, he's gone. He's got to be gone then this year.
Yeah. How much do we pay for 30 million? Disappointing from him, I think.
How many of these signings though, honestly, do you go through and you go, it's been a disappointing buy.
But I think you get that from a lot of. A lot of places, like really like that. How many places do you go who.
Have been good signings in the last five years? Like. Like there's some that you're like, yeah, actually what we paid versus then what we've got, which is the type of signings that spurs should be making that. Do you know what I mean? The cheaper ones. That tends to be where we actually get our success. But a lot of the bigger signings are sort of 35, 40 mils and up really work.
Bergval looks like a player 8 1/2.
Million and gray 40 million, which is.
A huge amount of cash, but that's what you want.
He's been so good Gray this season that if, if he was a 28 year old and not an 18 year old and put in the level of performance he's putting, we'd still be saying, yeah, he's worth every penny.
He's showing up. Basuma. Basuma's a, an international now and he should be dominating.
I thought Gray really, really struggled in midfield today, which was interesting to see.
Yeah, I mean he's played one game in it. He's playing in a poor team. It's a bit like going back to the rugby. People have been saying it's the most complete England performance. Me and you could have played for England and been dominant yesterday. Like really, really. And so it's really hard to judge people's performance in any of these games anymore.
I do think though that Bergval, in the way that Ange plays, I think Bergval is the only midfielder that can play that deep role because I don't think any of them are athletic enough to be able to do it. Like Gray's not Particularly mobile. He can run, but he's not particularly mobile. Like, over, like, players can run past him. Bissouma, we know all of his limitations are. Anyway. Bentoncourt, I think, just has really lost his legs. Like, it looks a bit like he still technically is excellent, but he doesn't carry the ball. He does, you know, and I just think that sitting midfield role that we play, you need someone in there that's powerful and can cover ground and carry the ball forward. And I actually think that Burg f is the only one that can do it. I don't think that there's anyone else in there suited to it. Maybe. Maybe. I like. I like Burgv in that deep role, though. Like, he gets stuck in, wins the ball back. He brings a lot of intensity into the midfield. And I just look at the other midfielders and I'm like, I'm just not sure if you've got the profile to play that position. Which also feels nuts to me that. That we're two seasons into Ange and. And we still haven't got the right profile for certain positions. Like, that feels nuts to me.
Kuliski is an interesting one, isn't it? Because I still don't see him as like a great player, but his numbers. He's really effective.
Yeah, he is. I think he's really important to us.
He's massively important to us. But that's. I think it's because we're so poor. The. The problem we've got, I think. And you. You're better at this stuff than me, but between the lines, I think we're very poor moving the ball. It said this last week, there's three different teams out there. Defense in the middle and then the attack. And Kulasevski is one of the few that bridges the two. Romero, like I said earlier, does the two with his passing, but otherwise they act fairly independently. Yeah, and Kulusevski is one of the few that sits in the middle of the two of them and can play it short and long and over the top. And I think that's really important to this team.
That's why Kuliski's played more centrally this year, because we lack. We lack that ability in the midfield to be able to do that, which is why it's gone. Okay. You could go in there and do a job for me now there instead. The other interesting one. Sorry, just the other interesting one is the whole, like, James Madison.
I was trying not to talk about him because people say he had his best game on Thursday, but I don't want to hear that. He had his best game on Thursday because we were playing a team really.
And like I thought he played, I thought he played well on Thursday night. But like I sort of expect in it a game where a team just come and have two banks of four and sit on the edge of their box that your more attack minded midfielders will make stuff happen. Like that's what you're in there to do. Yeah, like, so it's like he did play well, but that's what you're there, that's what you're there for. The same way that, you know, if we play against the top team and we have to defend and you see Romero and Van De Ven heading it and clearing it, you're like, that's what you're there for. Yeah, like that's, that's your role. And I just, of all of them are like, he, he's been the one that I've been most disappointed with because when we got him I thought that's a really good buy. Like he'll really suit us.
How much do you pay for him?
I think it was about 30, 35 mil. Because Leicester went down, didn't they? Yeah, I just, he, you know what, you know you said about Neymar earlier, could he, Neymar have done more? I think about that every time I watch James Madison. Could you have done more in a game?
I think that's different because I, I'm not sure he can. I think he should, but I'm not sure he can. But maybe he can. Where would he go? We always ask this, does he go up or does he go down? When we, when Carl Walker left, he went up. Ericsson went up to Winter. Arguably, Kane massively went up.
If Madison moved to another Premier League team, he's going up a knee because there's not many below us. He, he's not. I don't think he's good enough to be playing for one of the teams in the Champions League spots. If you look at who they've got planned in those positions, like I think that they're better players than him. So he maybe could go to like a Villa. Maybe he could go to a Newcastle. And it's like it's slightly above us now, but it's not, it's not massive.
Still want Matoma? I said that years ago. We should have got Mitoma. I think it'd be great for Spurs. I also think it. Madsen would work well for Brighton.
Yeah.
Another different place. He's a left winger but Mitoma is a impact player. I think Madsen's more of an impact player. Like, I. I don't see him. I think we were sport with Ericsson a bit. Maybe I've got roast into spectacles a.
Bit, but I think Ericsson, he was a great player. Ericsson, it was.
I think he peaked as well with us in that team that we. We know we had a great team then, but we still struggle to get behind teams. But when we did, he was brilliant. Long passes, short passes, floor in the air. I think he's. I. I don't know. I don't know. I think maybe I'm expecting Ericsson.
I've got.
We've got Madison.
But we've got a little bit of a break now, which is good. But I don't know, I'm just. It just feels like the club is just drifting. That. That's what's worrying. And it's just like, we're just okay then, with what we are.
Yeah. I'm sure Levy wants to sort it out and they. I mean, did you see they've held the prices of season tickets, which, to be fair to them, I mean, the product worse year and year, but.
Yeah, exactly. And I had to do it. And I think a big reason why I did it is because a lot of Premier League clubs have already announced it, that they were freezing. But you're right, there's no way, like, just looking at it, there's no way he could have put him up by 3, 4%. Like, he just couldn't have put them up even by that. Because everyone's like. Would be like, are you joking?
You imagine.
I just, I always think the season ticket thing is such an easy win for the owners.
Yeah.
Like, for what he actually makes them.
What.
I mean, it's nothing like. And if you put. If you put them up by a couple of percent, you're not gaining anything as an owner from that, really, like, in the grand scheme of things. So I'm like, surely just like, most supporters of their clubs don't like their club's owners. Like, that's just the way it is. If you spoke to anyone, it's like, do you like, who owns your club? Everyone's like, nah, I want them all to sell. But like, I just feel like that's such an easy win for an owner. It's like, well, just freeze tickets and like, the fact that they haven't got the concession still in. I know that's something that's ongoing, but like, little things like that, I'm just like, it's easy wins for people.
Yes. Quick in it. What are you going to replace your Tottenham time with? I did two hours of yoga yesterday and I felt great. It's so hard, yoga. And, like, it's properly difficult. Have you ever tried it?
No. I think I like the idea of it. I am. Did you. Is it. Was it relaxing? Like, did you feel.
I feel amazing afterwards, mentally.
Like, it helps.
So I meditate every day now. I mean, we're getting into it, but I'm meditating. That is changing my life. I've stopped trying to make yoga by meditation and just tried to concentrate on the physicality of it. It's so hard, man. Like, I. I think you just find it really difficult.
Yeah, but most people do, though. No, because it's like what you're actually doing. Like. Like you won't have really done it before.
Well, I think, particularly for someone like you, like, we both. You play football and like, I run and then do weights. Both of those. Don't encourage, like, stretching.
Yeah.
Because, like, with weights, weights will recover tenser or, like, less stretched if they can. And so yoga, it, like the position and because you're heavier as well, it's just harder. But I love the challenge.
Yeah, that sounds quite good. But what am I going to replace the time?
I tell you what would be good, if people. We got people to vote and you had to do it. We blocked out three hours of your diary and were like, people had to vote.
We'll give you a list of stuff.
Give you. Yeah.
On this. And then basically, if one person voted, that would be the activity.
That's the point. Yeah.
It would just basically then be you going, I think you should do that.
I think you should do that. Yeah.
In fact, that's what I'm going to do next week.
I'm just going to tell you. We had to vote and the listeners voted for you to go buy three.
Oh, I saw that you had a message through from Junior Salanga.
We did. It's been on holiday. It's been a commuting for a while. But Junior Slanger says, let me get. Let me get the letter. It's an actual letter as well. Now we open the letter.
Because I remember he. He was very, very Nuno in, wasn't he, Junior?
He was. I think there was quite a significant time delay on feeds to Africa and he says, hola. He's been on holiday in Spain and he says, boys, which is sexist. Who's the best African player who's ever played for Spurs? Let me give you Some. This is me talking now. Not Junior, Bemo Cotto, Adebayor, Wanyama, Hossam Gali.
Oh, he. He was once subbed as a sub. He took his shirt off and threw it on the floor. So the old white hot lane, because he'd been on for about 15 minutes having a shocker and the whole ground was chanting, you're not fit to wear the shirt. And never played again.
Do you remember who was the Swiss player who did that for Arsenal? The captain. What's his name? Swiss Shaka. Do you remember when he did that? Captain of Arsenal threw it on the floor. You should never do that.
Yeah. You're done if you do that. And yeah, we haven't been blessed with great African players then.
Just from my least favorite, Stephen P. Miserable. Always look miserable.
Disappointing. Disappointing. Like from that. From that list that you've given me, like the best. The best player is Adebayor. Do you know what I mean? Like now, Asui Cotto was a good left back for us.
He was great.
He was a little bit overrated, I thought, by spurs fans, but he was a good left back for us.
Songs up there.
You know what? I liked person as a. As a center back. We just didn't have him for too long, did we?
No. Boateng. Orie Sakura could be up there.
Canoe. It was all. Yeah, he was okay.
Montserrat is not in Africa, is it? Idiot.
Boateng had a really odd career path, didn't he?
Really good. Really.
He was a good player. He was another one that was just like good player for. Just not at the right time and for what spurs needed. Like, he just didn't really get a shot either. But he went on to play for Barcelona.
Yeah.
Yeah. Like a good career. It's a great question from Junior, I think. I think Adeboyel is the best player out of them all.
Yeah, I'll take that. So let's have a look. Hertha. Tottenham, Dortmund, Portsmouth, Genoa, Milan, Schalke, Las Palmas, Frankfurt. Sassuola. I play for Barcelona. On loan.
Yeah.
He only made four appearances.
Yeah.
Fiorentina, Besiktas, Monza. Monza is a bank. Herta.
Lot of clubs isn't.
Is a lot of clubs and all. I never say that we're more than two years.
There's a great stat that he. His brother. Yeah. And they played. They played each other, didn't they? Like it's the only time it's ever happened, I think. Like brothers playing against each other for opposing nations at a World Cup. Like that's Such a great, like, great thing.
His brother was. What's his name? The other one, Messi, scored the greatest goal of his career, I think against him, where he sat down.
Yeah, he was a city for a bit as well, wasn't he?
He was, yeah. Boateng, the Tottenham one. Kevin Prince had that crown tattoo, didn't he, on his neck. It's one of those ones that looks good on a football pitch. But can you imagine, like you just wait in an airport and you go, wanker.
Yeah, it's the type of thing if you, if you're creating a character on Grand Theft Auto.
Yeah.
Like you'd almost create Kevin's botang, wouldn't you?
My ex had a cousin called Leon who was a. Who's a. He was a good kid. He was adopted and he found life a bit tough at times and you start getting in trouble with the police. Used to this thing called car running where if you find a row of cars, he would just run over them, just being little shit. He decided to get his name tattooed on his neck and so the police would capture him every single time. It basically had a barcode. They were like, leon, we know it's you because we've got your name on cctv.
Oh, that's amazing.
Yeah. Drone boat. I'm going to go watch that Messi goal against Jerome Bo because I mean Messi goals is some insane ones. But that, that was a good. I watched the, the World cup final. The Argentina, France highlights again.
Oh, what a game.
The greatest game.
The greatest game game.
Yeah, like hat trick for Kevin Prince. But Kevin, he's done well there but it's worth going back and watching the goals. Brilliant hat trick for Mbappe. Two penal, three penalties in the game. Wasn't it? Cuz he did two in the game and then one in the shootout. The, the, the goal from Argentina where they just play it from front to back. Stunning.
There was a, there was a save as well, wouldn't there? From Martinez.
Right, right in the end from the French. It was a defender, wasn't it?
Yeah, I can't remember. Someone went for these, made a top save.
Stunning. We need to stop talking about anything, anything else, anything ever.
I've really enjoyed this podcast today. Not talking about spurs best episodes.
Do you know, I found in my loft which I'm going to sell so if anybody wants them, let me know. I found my, my bag of Spur shirts because I used to buy every.
There's the jack in there.
Jake Livermore one is in there.
It's my favorite. It's my favorite shirt of any Spurs I know is the fact that you own a Jake Livermore shirt.
I'm gonna leave it to you in my world.
Great.
I've got the. I've got a bail the Champions League one. You know where it's investec which still enable on it. So that's got to be worth it.
You should see if you could get anything on. Yeah. On the retro football kits websites and that for some of them.
I've got the brown one. The problem with the brown one. I've got two of them and the police got in contact with me and said one of them is fake, but I don't know which one it is because they're both quality.
I think there could be a market for the Jake Livermore shirt because how many of them are out there?
It's one of the rarest shirts in the world. There's one of them in the world. The problem is nobody wants it.
Maybe. Maybe Jake does.
Imagine.
And you could be like, if he does. If he does an episode of the Pod, he can get his own shirt back.
If. If we can get him on, I will give him a shirt and say, Jake, this was the peak of your career playing for the Europe. Playing for us in Europe League. Probably. He probably played against Hearts and when we were beating 5 nil away.
Yeah, he definitely get him on. I think he scored if memory is correct.
Is he. Does he still play? He plays what I know he doesn't play anymore.
Does he retired now, is he?
I think he's been retired. He says he last played as what? I think he's out, isn't he? But so many kits like the black one, the Puma one with the yellow and the white stripe on it.
Yeah.
I've just got tons of them.
But if anyone wants one, get in touch. I'm sure Junior. Junior will definitely.
Well, he's gonna have to pay postage. I'm sending it to Africa on that. Right, let's wrap up this.
Otherwise I'm see you in two weeks.
I. I'm not seeing you on Thursday.
But.
I'm gonna write a quiz or something or I'm gonna do something. We need to. We need to do the. That game I told you about. Where. Let's try it now. Let's do three now. Name a top flight club. I'm gonna name one. We're gonna do three, two, one, go. Name a top flight club and then we have to name a players play for both those clubs can be.
Okay, you ready?
You're gonna. If I get One out of these. Three or four or five. Whatever we do, I'll be happy because this is your bag. Okay, so I'm gonna go three to one and then name a club on the. The next one. Okay. Three, two, one. Bayern.
Everton. Bayern and Everton that we. We're out on.
Wes Rodriguez didn't play for them, did he either?
Yes. Yes. And also how. How did he play for Bayern? Real Madrid and Everton?
I mean, he was.
Or Ancelotti wouldn't it. It was Ancelotti.
It was Ancelotti. That's definitely it. I am so happy with that.
I've never seen you smiled like that before, mate. I'm so happy.
This is why I do the quizzes, because I'm awful at answering.
That's great.
Got two more. Three, two, one. We're meant to do at the same time.
Darren bent.
Yep. Got to say at the same time. You ready? Three, two, one.
Bastard. Arthur.
Oh, see, this is it.
It's weird. The player. The first player that comes into head, though, like, why have I gone Darren Bent, like.
Whereas Freedle. Would that be another one?
Yeah. Yeah.
Okay, let's do two more. I want to try it after my. Rodriguez. I started high, didn't I? Ready? Three, two, one.
Chelsea.
Gallas.
This is the simplest game in the world.
Right? But you could play for hours.
Yeah.
Right, last one. 3, 2, 1. Real.
There has to. There has to have been someone.
I'm trying to think, has there been someone, like, random? Who are the Spanish players who play for? Not Jimenez. I'm just saying Jimenez because there must be a Spaniard called Jimenez who's played for both teams. I'm Googling it because I can't think of any.
Did Julian Faux Bear ever play for Fulham? The old West Ham guy I found is someone that has, like. Like a rogue move.
I've got one. Mamadou Diara.
I would not have got that.
No, me either. All right, well, then maybe we'll do a bit more of that.
Maybe we'll just do an hour of that. That'll be Thursday. Thursday.
Yeah. I'm a bit annoyed that I lost, mate.
Whatever happens, thank you.
Yeah. It has to be brighter. I should have stopped saying that after the last game of. Why aren't they stopped saying that?
Yeah, that. Yeah. We should have been like, that's it.
That's it. The future.
It's.
It's.
The future is dimmer. The future's Kevin Vima. Come on, Use purse.
Let's end the show on that. The future did that. The future kept Kevin Vima. Who are New Spurs.
I always thought there was very, very many people interested in football.
And I always thought that football was.
A very important game. But I never realized until today just how important it is. Whether the Wonder boys have Pith Lane are or are not the team of the century can't possibly be more than a matter of opinion.
Well, they're the finest team in Great Britain.
One of the best in the world.
We are about the glory of the game. We are about playing with style. We are Tottenham Hotspur. The the curve of the ball, the billow of the net, the beating of the trap and the picking of the lock. The swiftness of thought, the lightness of touch. We are Ginola, Greaves, Klinsman. We are the collective gasp, the intake of breath, the flick, the trick, the 30 yard free kick. We are Hodu, Mabbit and King. We are the lob, the chip, the dummy and the volley. We are the hat trick, the scissor kick. We are Bill Nick.
That is schoolboy's own stuff.
We are the outside of the boot, the inside of the net. And those seconds that last forever.
Vanderva to level it up. Raphael Van der Waart. Two, two. It's quite a game, isn't it always?
We are Jennings, Defoe and Perryman. Glory past, glory future. What was, what is, what's next? We are Blanchflower, Ardelis and baal. We are about winning with a flourish. We are about winning with style. We are about the glory of the game. Daring to try, daring to risk, daring to dream. To dare is to do.
It's all over. D really stubborn. Going all the way again here. And le kicked him out. Oh, this is incredible. This is quite incredible. Truly a glory, glory day for Tottenham Hotsmart.
