Don’t Use AI to Write Your MBA Essays

An MBA admissions expert warns against using ChatGPT for application essays. AI-written essays risk plagiarism detection, sound generic, and lack the emotional depth that makes applications stand out to admissions committees.
You knew this was coming. Please do not use ChatGPT to write your MBA essays. I promise you there are good reasons not to. First, most schools consider it plagiarism. A lot of schools have you pledge that you didn't use AI to write your essays and they can even revoke your spot later on if they think that you did. It's just not worth the risk. Number two, AI generated essays are so generic I can spot them from a mile away. Showing you understand the school and have reflected on how it can help you reach your goals is essential to writing a top notch essay. AI generated essays lack this depth, which means you're going to send a weak application. Finally, ChatGPT essays lack the emotional depth and uniqueness that set you apart. Connecting emotionally with the ADCOM and showing what sets you apart is what gets you in. ChatGPT can't write a compelling account of your most defining moments and boring applications get dinged. So if you think that having ChatGPT write your essays is a shortcut to a top MBA program, think again.
