Kellogg Essay Tips #1

Hey guys, it's Ellen. And Kellogg just released their essay questions, so here's how we're going to break down Essay one. So essay one is essentially a goals essay. They're asking you to talk about your motivations for an mba, your specific goals, why you believe now is the right moment, and how Kellogg can help you reach those goals. So I like to structure the essay in this way. First, I love to have you start out with context. Give us a little story, usually a star format story or some sort of anecdote that allows us to see once you get to your goals, that these are realistic goals that make sense for you. Second, I like to have you talk specifically about your give short term and long term, the job title and the industry that you want to be in. If you're going sponsored, mention that, and also the motivation that you have behind those goals and the impact that you want to make. Finally, talk about why an MBA is necessary to reach those goals and how Kellogg can help you do that. So if you say I want to grow as a leader, then to go with Kellogg can help me grow as a leader in this specific way. Don't just give a laundry list, though.
