Self-worth Is a Form of Activism

A speaker argues that building self-worth is activism, especially for women. The talk covers self-knowledge, how you talk to yourself, and setting boundaries as concrete ways to strengthen your sense of value.
Self worth is a powerful form of activism. Too many women get stuck in dead end careers and too many women get stuck in negative relationships. And a lot of times this is because we believe that we don't deserve better. That's why believing in your self worth is such a powerful form of activism. To build your self worth, focus on these three things. First, get to know yourself. Knowing what you value and what makes you happy is the key to building a sense of self. Number two, challenge the unkind things that you say to yourself. Never put yourself down and create an inner dialogue that's always building you up. And finally, practice saying no. This can be a little bit hard, but believing that you have the right to set boundaries, setting them and then maintaining them is the key to pleasing both yourself and other people. Self worth begins with believing that you have the power and the right to take up space. That's a radical thought and a radical practice that can totally reshape our world.
