The speaker guides viewers on how to recognize and articulate their personal successes by creating a compelling narrative about their strengths and achievements to boost confidence and seize opportunities.
In this series, I'm teaching you how to take credit for your success. If you can't tell the story of your success, you're holding yourself back. Stories really matter, so reflect on your success. Practice creating a narrative around this and tell your story. This reflection can be tough though, so a great place to start is to think about times that you've received great feedback or been complimented by your friends or peers. For example, you might be great at creating detailed spreadsheets, coming up with out of the box solutions, or you might even have great people skills. Once you've identified your strengths, build your narrative by creating a compelling single sentence hook that sums it all up. This might be something like I'm a detail oriented person who's great at stepping up and organizing my team's efforts to make sure we always reach our goals. We want to avoid terms like I like to because we're focusing on what you're good at. Then brainstorm detailed examples that back up your narrative. Finally, use it or lose it. Keep your story running in your head so you can constantly remind yourself of your superpowers and you don't have to be pushy. But when the opportunity arises to share your strengths, keep be a great opportunity to share this narrative with others. With your narrative on the tip of your tongue, you'll always be ready to prove that you're the successful, confident person who deserves to get exactly what you want. So go out there, use your narrative of success, and take up the space that you deserve.
