This mistake is ruining your MBA essays

Coach Elle, an MBA consultant with 10 years of experience, explains why reusing the same essay for multiple schools tanks your application. Each school wants to see you've done your homework on their specific values and culture, not a generic pitch.
It's not a story if it doesn't have an audience. I'm Ellen, and after 10 years as a top MBA consultant, I've uncovered a lot of MBA application secrets. This is one of my best ones. One of the biggest mistakes that I see applicants making is rushing to finish their application essays and mindlessly reusing content from one school to another. Okay, you don't have to start from scratch for every school. There's no need to reinvent the wheel here. But not thinking about your audience and how to use your stories to show fit at their school is a mistake, and it's going to cost you a spot at a top program. So rather than just copy and pasting your content, spend some time getting to know the school, its program, and its values. Then thoughtfully translate your content to connect with the school and its values. By connecting with your audience, you'll prove that you're exactly the kind of person that belongs in their incoming class. And I think that's a secret worth sharing.
