Hey everyone, UCLA just released their essay question and here's how you're going to tackle it. The question asks you to share an example from your personal or professional life where you demonstrated perseverance to accomplish a significant goal or milestone. So the first thing that you want to do is look into UCLA's guiding principles, because that's going to allow you to choose an example that shows that you share the values that the school holds dear. Once you've done that, start to think about examples that show off your strongest achievements, but that also demonstrate that you had to overcome some sort of significant challenge to get to the end result. You want to choose one story with with a clear impact that can be told in star format, because that's what's going to really work best here. Once you've thought about all of your examples, filter it and think. Here's what the admissions committee already knows about me, and here's what would be helpful for them to learn.
