When to Pivot Your MBA Application Plan

A guide to deciding when to change course during MBA applications. If your GMAT score isn't improving or you lose your job, you might need to postpone, switch schools, or rethink the timeline entirely. The speaker walks through how to evaluate whether to push forward or pivot.
What should you do when your MBA application plan isn't going as you hoped? For? Most people applying to business school almost never goes as planned. Whether it's struggling with a GMAT or being laid off, challenges are inevitably going to arise along the way. For this reason, it's essential to know when to pivot. Rather than pursuing a plan that might not make sense anymore, clearly evaluate where you're at, what your options are, and your optimal plan going forward. For example, if you're not able to get a high enough GMAT score to apply to a top 10 MBA, you could either wait and apply to a later round or year or maybe change your list of schools. However, if you continue to insist on applying for schools that you might not be qualified for, you're probably just going to end up frustrated. So when you hit a wall, build a plan, reach out to trusted friends and advisors, understand what your options are, and decide where you want to go from here. Your MBA journey might not look like you initially planned it to, but I promise you'll end up exactly where you're meant to be.
