Why You Should NOT Do Remote Closing

Shelley Young, a high-ticket sales manager, identifies six traits that disqualify people from remote closing: poor work ethic, dislike of people, viewing sales as unethical, inability to take feedback, wanting instant results, and overconfidence from other sales roles. The job demands long hours, emotional labor, and constant mentorship.

Hi guys. Welcome back to my channel. If you're new here, my name is Shelley. I am a high ticket closer. I am a high ticket sales manager and I am also a woman's sales coach teaching women how to basically embark on the journey that I did which allowed me to make 0 to 30k per month in 12 months. In this video today it's probably a bit different to what you're expecting and I really wanted to cover this. Not to be negative but just to be very transparent and honest. If you are looking to get into the sales space you want to understand is closing for you is high ticket sales for you. And I wanted to touch on a few reasons that I believe. If you have any of these characteristics or if you have any of these traits, then sales is probably not for you. And it's super important because embarking on your high ticket sales journey, embarking on your career, investing in a mentor is not an easy decision. So if I can help you make that, whether you push you in the right direction or help you steer clear, then that's great and that'll be the value from this video. So I hope you enjoy. The first reason why I believe you shouldn't get into high ticket sales and you shouldn't be a closer is if you do not have a good work ethic that is huge. I always say if you have a 10k goal but a 1k effort then you should not get into sales. High ticket sales and closing requires a tremendous amount of patience, of skill, of work ethic, of long hours to get to the other side and see that success where I am now, to make 30k per month consistent commissions is not by chance. It's not a couple months of doing a few trade sales training, investoring, a mentor and then getting here. It was literally pretty much 12 months of locking myself in my office at in my apartment and giving it my all. The I literally remember the only time off I had in 2024 was a one week trip to Europe, then three days off for my birthday in February and that was literally it. Other than that I just gave it my all and I went in and like fully in invested sales training calls, call reviews, you name it, I did it. I've said this in other videos I wrote it sound like a broken record but the point is I wanted it more than I could breathe. I would say I had more of a 50k effort with a 10k outcome if you, if you want to look into it. And that was purely because I knew what I wanted and I knew I Was prepared to do anything I could to get there. And if you want the same, then you have to do the same. And if you know deep down that you're very lazy and you give up easily and any kind of hardship, you. You just fall off the bandwagon. Then if anyone critiques you or if you get pushed back, you don't pick yourself back up, but brush yourself off and go again. If you know you give up and if you know that that is the type of person you are deep down, then high ticket sales is not for you. And if you want to overcome that and you want to be that better version of yourself and you have to take a very honest look at yourself and think, am I going to be different this time? Am I going to change my ways? Because it's super important to know that if you are going to be lazy and if you are going to just give up easily, then don't even bother wasting your time and money. Like it's super important. Don't bother. You could invest out in something else. You could do something else that would be more enjoyable than going on this journey and knowing that after investing time and money, you're going to give up in your first hurdle. So, yeah, that would be my first. My first point of advice to not get into sales. Number two is if you don't like people, if you genuinely don't like speaking with people, if you maybe work as a waitress in a coffee shop, customer service or whatever it is, and you genuinely hate having conversations with people, then you probably should not get into sales because sales is a people job. Now don't get me wrong, I would definitely label myself to be slightly more introverted. I'm not the life of the party, you know, I don't, by no means at all have I ever been the type to go out every weekend and be super social. Not at all. But I love helping people. Like I always joke I'm an Aquarius, that's my star sign and we're humanitarians and I very much embody that. Like if I can give back, if I can make a change, if I can help people, I genuine, it genuinely fulfills me like that in my heart, fulfills me by giving back to others. So partnering that with sales, it allows me to do that as well as obviously make good money and have the freedoms I can. And I can have the best of both worlds because I like helping people. If you don't like helping people or if you don't like people in general and you don't want to listen to people's problems and you don't want to take on their emotional baggage in the cause that you're in, then sales is probably not for you because it's not talked about enough. That sales is actually you're being emotionally dumped on a lot of the time because you're sitting on these hour long calls with people who have problems, who need help, who are in not a great situation, and you are taking and receiving that energy in that moment to help them. That's not easy. You know, that takes a lot of strength internally to be able to be and show up for that person and be strong enough to actually guide them to a solution. It's not all about closing the deal. It's actually about helping someone overcome their fears, overcome maybe a generation of mindset and values and helping them make a change. So it's definitely not something to be taken lightly. And if you don't enjoy helping people like that, then it's probably not the best job for you. And there are other ways you can make decent money by not actually having to communicate with people. Number three is you think sales is bad or you think sales is a scam. If that is your mindset, then honestly the sales industry is not for you because you're never going to be able to mentally shake that mindset. If that is what's ingrained in you, if that is what you believe truly in your heart, then that is what you believe. And many people do believe that. Like I know some of my friends or people I know, you know, I never wanted to tell them that I was in sales because sales has such a bad connotation from what we know of, like scamming xyz. But sales is not bad. And, and I always say you're either selling or you're being sold to. Pick the one that you want. And sometimes I'm selling and sometimes I'm being sold to. We're only human, we all do it, but we all buy. We all love to buy things and, and have new things. But at the end of the day, if you think, if you have the mindset that sales is terrible and that you're a bad person and that you're not being ethical, then just stay away from sales. There's no amount of money is going to convince you when you're having the bad days, when you're having the bad conversations, you're not going to overcome that. You know, you're just going to end up losing deals, wasting time and building a very bad reputation because you don't have full Conviction you are not fully congruent and aligned with what you believe in. So, yeah, try another industry instead. I recommend number four, I believe not to do sales. High ticket closing. High ticket sales is if you're not good at taking on feedback. This industry is a feedback loop. You're a sponge, Your mind is open, you do something, you mess up, you get feedback, you go again. You do something new good, you get feedback, you go again. The feedback never ends. I am constantly still receiving feedback. This day I will, even though I manage a sales team, I will get my sales calls up in the team meetings and say, can we, can I get advice? Can I get everyone else's support? Like, how would you have done this differently even now? And that will never change. I will always have that mindset. I will always ask when I don't think I know the answer or even if I do know the answer and I just want to hear a different perspective. You have to leave your ego at the door. And although salespeople have big egos, we definitely do. Overall, the industry, you know, it is more of an ego industry to be a good sales rep, you have to be a sponge and you have to be constantly open to learning feedback criticism to make you better at the end of the day. So, yeah, if you're not good at taking feedback, if you're very sensitive, if you're easily offended, sales is probably not for you. Number five is you want everything now. You want it all at once. The quickest solution, the quickest way, you want it all now. You shouldn't get into sales. This is the long game. You probably don't deserve this. Now if you're watching this and you're a complete beginner and you've never done high ticket sales before and you want to make 10k per month and you want the quickest possible way to do it, the truth is, the half reality is you do not deserve that. You do not deserve that opportunity. And I'm not saying that to be mean or put you down. I believe that anyone can have anything that they put their mind to. But if you think sitting here that when you've done nothing, when you haven't invested in your training, when you haven't spent hours, when you haven't done the reps that you deserve, that you are very much mistaken. And that is why, like I've done in my previous video, when I say so many people fail and why you can succeed is because the mindset needs to be dialed in. And if you have the mindset that you want it all now and you want this guaranteed outcome, then you're probably not going to get very far in sales. Because linking back to my original point is you're just going to give up on your first hurdle. So yeah, you want to be very careful of that mindset and know if you're someone who's just going to give up and you want everything now, this is probably not going to be for you. And this links into my last point point, which is if you've done some sales, if you've maybe worked in retail or corporate or car sales and you think that you know sales and all you need is an offer, you are so mistaken. And if you have that mindset and if that's a very fixed mindset and you don't want to change that mindset, then you shouldn't do high ticket sales because you will very quickly be humbled at learning how to become a closer is so, so much harder than it is. And by no means am I the best closer by any stretch of the form, but I'll have the women in my program come to me and say, wow, like you make it look so easy. Because I'll review like my sales calls from previous offers and that's what a good closer does. They make it look easy. So when you're brand new and you're an amateur coming in, you watch an established sales call pass I'm established salesperson's call and you'll think, oh, that's easy, I can do that. And it's not as easy as it looks. So you have to leave your ego at the door. You have to be open minded, you have to want to learn. Yes, you can use your previous experience to compliment you, but trust me when I say if you've done sales in the past, different, different form of sales, then you think you only need an offer. You need more than an offer. You need support, you need training, you need mentorship to really get you up to scratch. Your confidence may be there, which is fantastic and that's an amazing trait to have, but the skill needs to be built and that is it. They are my main points. Why I think that if you have and embody any of those qualities, any of those traits, you should not get into sales. There are plenty of other industries that you could try instead that may be better suited to you. However, if you do not have any of those traits and you are really now looking for that opportunity, you want to change your current situation, you want to work hard but actually be compensated in the right way and actually earn the money that you believe you deserve and you're ready to do whatever it takes to get there, and you're a woman, then feel free to fill out my form below.
