3 Things Successful People Do to Attract What They Want

Aaron Doughty outlines three habits successful people use: setting crystal-clear intentions before interactions, visualizing the emotional feeling of the process not just the outcome, and identifying powerful reasons behind goals to maintain momentum. He draws on Brandon Burchard's Performance Habits and Abraham Hicks teachings.

This video will show you 3 things that successful people do in order to attract what they want. I'm going to show you practical ways that you can apply this in your own life so that you are able to get similar results. Welcome back to another video. My name is Aaron and I help people expand their consciousness. Now in this video, I'm going to be sharing with you those 3 things that I think we can also apply into our own life. So that we're able to get similar results or at least expand our own potential. Now, I was recently listening to a podcast and it was Lewis Howes or Lewis Howes podcast, however you say his last name, and he was interviewing Brandon Bouchard who has written like 4 or 5 books before and I've seen a lot of his videos and he talks a lot about understanding motivation, a lot about understanding habits. And what he did is he recently had a book that came out or that is coming out called Performance Habits where he studies the most successful people and shows the habits that they do so that we can also figure out how to apply the same habits to get similar results. Now it's funny because in this video it's mainly personal development. There's not much emphasis of course on the law of attraction, but me being somebody that likes to implement and likes to bridge these ideas together, I noticed the patterns and what he was saying that these people do every day and also how that applies to the law of attraction. Now of course there's a lot of people that don't give and say that they practice the law of attraction, but they still get really good results either from work ethic or understanding how they are and how they have, like, having the mindset that they get in order to get the results that they want. So the idea is that whether people use it unconsciously or consciously, either way can be very powerful. But what I'm talking about is how to apply it so that we're consciously able to let go of baggage that doesn't serve us. And at the same time be able to develop the patterns to becoming successful. Now, the first one that he talked about was understanding clarity and intention. Now I find this funny because when I, I mean, I've done many videos before and there's something that I've talked about called segment intending, which is something that I got from, I think Abraham Hicks, which is about before you go into any circumstance, what you do is you set an intention of something that you want to accomplish or something that you want, like an outcome of something you want to get out of it, and you do that before you go into the interaction. Now, he said in this podcast or in his book, he says that that is something that almost all successful people do. So they think about that throughout the day. They're getting ready to get on a phone call conversation. They're thinking, what do I want to get out of this? What kind of energy do I want to bring to the table? They're going to a meeting or they're going to do something, do some type of event. Before they get on stage. What am I going to add to other people? What kind of energy am I bringing to the table? Now what we can begin to do is to have a similar type mindset, to become very clear on our intentions of what we want to do. And I'll say even for myself that this has changed my life in many ways, especially over the last 6 months, because as many of you guys know, I create a video a day, which takes a lot of work to do, especially now I'm building a website, I'm building products. Is something that takes a lot of my energy, but this is the thing. If I set intentions as I go into them, it's like it happens so much more smooth. So what I do every day is I do the top 3 leverage things I can do right when I wake up in the morning and everything flows after that, but I have intentions for what I want to do. So I got up this morning, for example, and I was like, I'm going to edit 3 videos. I'm going to create thumbnails for 4 videos. And then I'm going to create 2 videos, which is what I'm doing right now. And then after this, there's some things that I have to do on the backend of my website. So it's like I have the first 5 or 6 hours of my day geared towards this and I have specific intentions and it makes it so much easier to do. Now I found this to be powerful also in like social settings, like when you go out into public, have an intention for the kind of way you want to be. If you imagine yourself interacting with people in a certain way, you'll find that it just kind of like locks into gear. Much easier. If you're getting ready to go to a social event and you're getting ready to be around people, have an intention for how you want to feel while you're there and the kind of way that you want to, uh, what you want to bring to the table. You see, as we start to do this, we start to do what is called segment intending, which is where there's little segments throughout our day of where we have these potentials or where we have these possibilities that we want to happen. So think of it also when you get your car. And you're getting ready to go on a ride or you're getting ready to go somewhere. You want to have a safe trip. All of these things, as you set the intentions, you will start to find that things begin to lock in because of the focus. Remember the RAS, the reticular activating system in the brain is always looking for patterns. And if we look for the intentions that we have, we'll find that we link up to them and that then we start to get the benefit out of it. So clarity and intention, set those intentions before you go into any inner counter— any encounter and you'll find that you start to get the benefits out of it. Now the second thing that he talked about I thought was very interesting because it has to do with visualization and it also has to do with the feeling that we bring to the table. So one thing he said that a lot of business people do as well as a lot of athletes do is before they go into a race, for example, or some type of competition, they're not just focused on what they want to accomplish in it, like with the outcome they want of it. They are also focused on the feeling of being in the process of it. So maybe the feeling that they want to feel while they're running or while they're playing, you know, if it's basketball or even a business decision or someone in the business field, what do they want to feel while they are delegating tasks? What do they want to feel when they are helping customers? Whatever position we're in, we can begin to focus on one, the intention, but two, the feeling that we want to have. So this kind of also bridges these two together, but I found it very interesting because it's not— once again, the emphasis isn't on the law of attraction or the feeling aspect of it in the sense of visualization, but this is also just in line with exactly what we talk about when it comes to visualization. If we are able to focus more on the feeling, we are then aligning ourselves with more of what we prefer. And then again, at the same time, we're able to bridge the intention in there and the outcome of what we want to experience. So once again, make it about the process. Learn how to enjoy the process. A lot of people that are business people or are very successful people in whatever they do, they tend to love the process. They tend to be someone that like likes to take action. Even me, as I become more into business or more into like, you know, the side of things where I'm just giving as much as I can and putting out content, I love the content creation. I love the whole process. It doesn't feel like work even though I'm I'm putting in probably 8 to 12 hours a day. It doesn't feel like it because I enjoy it. So I encourage you to go into every situation with an intention, but also what is the feeling that it brings you? Can you focus on the passion? And at the same time, if there is some type of challenge or resistance there, see it as opportunity. That will reframe a lot of the resistance and allow you to really bring a better feeling to the table. Now the third thing that he talks about has to do with understanding the reasons we have for what we want to experience and the goals that we have. So one thing we must do is we must establish strong reasons why we want what we want. So many times we might just be focused on what we can get out of a certain situation. I want to make a certain amount because that will make me feel a certain way. Now there's nothing inherently bad or wrong with that, but realize that when your intentions are stronger, there's much more of a drive there. In that interview, he talked about how people do something intentionally for someone else. Say it's like they're— someone just passed away and they're doing it for them, or someone is sick and they found out about it, so they have to make a certain amount of money in order to pay for medical bills, or somebody just found out that like, you know, they're going to have a kid and now they have to figure out how to make a certain amount of money because they've always wanted to be financially free. I know that was Tony Robbins' story. He found out he was going to have a kid and then he decided that he had to become financially free. That created the motivation, that created the pressure for him to come out on the other side of that. Now in the same way, develop your strong whys. Now you can do that by realizing that with what you can do, you can add value to other people. That's the way I view it. Now of course I want to be successful. Successful in a certain way. I want to focus on influencing people in a positive way, but even deeper than that is more of the giving that I can give, the contribution that goes with it. And there's a strong why underneath that because I view it as a part of my purpose in life. I view it as something that just kind of carries me because I'm so focused on my whys and the deeper part of why I do what I do. So find strong reasons for what you do and find— you'll find that that creates more pressure. Also a little, uh, a little tip. Also a little tip I want to give for this is put pressure on yourself, not in a negative way, not in resistance, but like put a little bit of pressure to where it's— you almost, you have to take action. You have to do things. You have to kind of get yourself to feel a certain way. When you put yourself in a must type attitude or something that you have to do, you'll find that it really gives you so much energy and so much momentum in the direction of what you want. You know, I'm like 2 weeks ahead on videos right now. I have about 15 videos that are set to go out, but guess what? I keep the pressure on because there's a certain level, there's a certain place I want to be to where then I can focus on other things and travel. So it's like I have a strong why there because with travel comes new experiences and comes being able to add value in new ways. It's just kind of the way I view it, but keep the pressure on. That's just something else that, you know, I kind of add from my own life. You know, don't get set. Settle in the sense that you start to do the same mundane things every day, same comfort zone. Always be pushing for more. Always be pushing to expand outside of the current comfort zone you're in. And when you find that you focus on more and you focus on adding value more, those things leak into every other area of your life. So remember the 3 simple things you must do every day to become successful and the 3 things that already successful people do, even if they're not consciously aware of it. Is they're very clear on what they want and they're clear on the intentions they set, and then they set those intentions before they go into different parts of their day. We could also call this segment intending. The second thing is as we become more aware of that, we can then focus on the feeling that we want to experience while we are in the process, and as we generate that feeling and we imagine what we can bring to the table, that changes everything about the situations we're in. Thirdly, as we are focused on the whys that we have in the purpose of what we're doing, we'll find that that creates a stronger type of momentum and that then we're really able to create what we want in our lives.
