Everything you want comes when you stop "manifesting"

Aaron Doughty argues that traditional manifesting backfires because it comes from ego's need for control. Instead, surrender to uncertainty, stay curious, and become a vessel for something larger. He shares how a bad Airbnb forced him to trust the process, which led to something better.

You could see this video, then take it as a sign that it is time to finally let go and let God. It's time to stop believing that you need to control the circumstances to happen. It's time to start understanding that there is a force greater than you at play, and your job is to become an empty vessel to that energy. This is the missing key for so many people that keeps them blocked, keeps them in pressure, and keeps them attached. And when I learned this idea, it shifted everything about how I carry myself in the world. And funny enough, it made things so much easier too, because prior to that, it was like, I must control. And even when you think of the idea of manifestation in general, Somebody asked me recently, so why don't you talk about manifestation anymore? Like, how does this connect to me getting what I want? And the reason I don't talk about manifestation in the same way that I used to is because so much of manifesting, I believe, comes from an energy of wanting to create from a level of control, wanting to create and It's almost like this addiction to certainty in a way, right? It's like, okay, if I can see it in my mind and I can think about it and I can feel it before it comes, then by the time it comes into my life, it's exactly what I envisioned, it's exactly what I've already felt, which means it's all something I know. There's a certain level of control there. And what happens is that control creates resistance. That control is an addiction to certainty, when in fact, in the unknown is where the magic is. In the unknown is where God is. And what happens is we rob ourselves from the divine actually coming through us, which, by the way, feels very good. When you become an empty vessel to something greater than you, and you allow yourself to in a way be in that flow state, it will feel good. And not only will you feel good, but in that state you have more clarity. In that state you find more opportunities. In that state you're more magnetic, so you attract the right people. And what the missing key for so many people is, is they want the thing, right? I want that thing. And what is the means to get the thing? I must control, I must will, I must do this, this, and this. And if I do this, this, and this, then I'll eventually get over here. Maybe the biggest unlock for you now is that the manifestation or the thing that you think you need to control has been deluding you. It's been a carrot on a stick going into the rabbit hole, and you just kept going in the rabbit hole because you started to. But now you're realizing, why am I in this hole? What if it could be so much easier and more fun? And what if then you didn't have the burden of needing to control? You see, I have this theory too, and I'm not above it, okay? For years, it was like manifestation content. And I'm saying there's a new way to relate to this idea and concept, and that is that if manifestation is a means to get, it takes you out of the present moment and it gives the ego credit, thinking that you are the one that's making it happen. And if you're making it happen, that's a lot of control and resistance. Now, of course, there's a certain level of action you can take. There's a certain level of intention you can set. But a lot of times this becomes a means to an end. And when you think of this one idea, it can shift your perspective a lot about this. Think about this. Can you make a plant grow? There's some plants around here. Plant right there. Can I make that plant grow? I could put that plant in the sun, I could water the plant, and then I could say, "I made the plant grow." But in actuality, if you really look at it deep down, who or what makes the plant grow? Deep down, it's not me. It's its natural— it's its natural behavior to do so. To grow is a product of God. It's a product of the divine. It's a product of its own DNA or whatever you want to call it. But I'm not going to delude myself into believing that I'm the one making the plant grow. But you see, what happens a lot is people focus on getting somewhere else and of creating— you know, we get told this idea from like The Secret, right? Create your own reality. Think about it. And the challenge with this is for many people, it's coming from an egoic perspective and it becomes a mechanism to control reality. Because deep down, I think we may not felt safe as a kid. So if I can think it, feel it, and experience it before it happens, and then it happens, then it's certain. I know what that feels like and everything's okay. But guess what? That comes with a lot of resistance and that comes with the deluded level of thinking that says, "I am the one that makes it happen." Okay? Even as I say this right now, there is a level, like your ego works in tandem with the divine and it's a dance. It's a dance. Like anytime I'm making a video, for example, When I get into a flow state and I can feel the energy come in, it's like I'm— it just feels so good. And when I go into a video and I have a script of what I need to say and I have all these things and it's this thing that means to an end to get a certain result, I can feel the resistance there. But there's still a balance of me standing here making a video. It's just like the energy underneath it is something that I begin to trust more. Recently, I just came to Austin. I was in Sedona for like a month, came to Austin, and there was this interesting situation that happened that definitely I had to be in a state of surrender to, and a state of knowing that even though in the present moment this looks kind of crazy, I trust that this is happening for me, not to me. And what this meant was, here's what happened. For 2 days, my girlfriend and I drove from Sedona here. We spent the night in El Paso, which is about 8 hours away, halfway. Saw my brother who lives there with his family, then came here. And after a 2-day trip, which was kind of intense, honestly, I normally don't drive that much, was feeling like very, uh, tired. And as we get up to the Airbnb here, we We booked an Airbnb. We get into the Airbnb and what we realized was a couple of quick things. One, the Airbnb is going to sound like— let me— I'll get to the core of what happened. We get to an Airbnb and it was basically not what we thought. First off, we're like, oh, this isn't exactly what we thought. Very different from the photos. And then also in the moment, I was like, I paid for an entire month, a lot of money to be at this place. Doesn't look like the photos, a lot darker than I thought. The furniture that was in the photos wasn't the furniture that was there now. And I'm like, I'm going to have to make videos here and be here a lot. It was right next to a busy street that was very loud. And I was like, dang, we're stuck in this house for a month. And as we were walking around the house, we're like, what is this wine stain? There was a wine stain on the countertop. What is this wine stain here? Why are these knives tipped over? This is kind of weird. And there was a note for us, but it's like it looked like somebody had broken into the house or something. Well, a little bit more digging, what we found is that that knife set that was tipped over was missing a knife. Kind of weird, right? And then that wine stain that we thought was wine was actually blood. And then, so of course my girlfriend starts to notice what this probably is. And of course she wasn't feeling that very safe. And I was feeling like, I don't want to be in here either. I had no idea what happened. And we're like, okay, a homeless person must have broken into this house. Something happened. So it was this energy where we're tired off a 2-hour drive, just got there, and we're like, we want to get settled in. We've got a car full of stuff. We've been living out of a hotel for a couple day— um, oh, just for a day, but we're doing this long drive. Then basically what happened is we realized that It was blood. There was also like a Bible there. There's this weird thing. It's almost like you're playing the— in the like Clue or something. Like, what happened? Who got what with what? And then we called the guy that was renting us out the house. We're like, hey, listen. And I had to kind of explain, like, dude, can't stay. Our first experience here is like, it's like a crime scene. Who knows what the frick happened? Frick, right? But then what happened is he's like, I'm gonna check the cameras, blah, blah, blah. And I already knew then we weren't gonna stay there. So I had to have a conversation like this, and we're not gonna— we're gonna have to find somewhere else. We had to go to hotel for a couple days. Which is also kind of inconvenient. But basically what they found, in case you're wondering what actually happened, apparently somebody broke into the house. A kid broke into the house from down the street and they had it on camera and the kid's okay, but it was like some weird thing. Regardless, when that happened, I immediately knew that when that happened, that that was going to be— the meaning to that situation is that it was going to lead to us actually being in a more favorable situation, not around such a busy street, not in a darkly lit house that we're not inspired to be in, but it didn't make sense. So then we go to that of this hotel that I used to come to a lot when I lived here that I liked. It was a little more expensive, but I booked it on points and I was like, okay, I'll make the best of this situation. But it was like very much survival mode for like days, 'cause I'm like, we're getting here, I'm driving a lot, we're in our phone trying to find a hotel for the night, then we stay for, 2 nights in this hotel and it's kind of cool, but we're still kind of living out of like our car and like this little bag. It's kind of like inconvenient. Having to eat out every day, which is like after a while, you're like, I kind of want to eat like clean, boring food that I feel good on. But then after 2 days even, we're like, we didn't have a place yet. And when nothing was good online, nothing was good on Airbnb. We couldn't find anything because now that we waited because we thought we had a place, it's like there were no good options. So what happened is we're at the— I'm at the hotel and I go to the front desk and everything feels like it's just not flowing as easy. I go to the front desk, I'm like, we need to— can we extend our stay a couple days? And there was a wedding in town and a convention and they're like, nope, there's no rooms available. I'm like, you know what, I'm going to choose to give this a positive meaning. It means things are probably going to work out in a better way than staying at this hotel. We remembered that we had friends that stayed at this Airbnb that was really cool that wasn't even on the market. It was an Airbnb that was— they were trying to rent out long-term but wasn't on Airbnb. So what we eventually did is my girlfriend remembered this place because she came to this friend's get-together and really liked it. And she found our friends, basically from our friends got the contact information, had to try 2 or 3 times, got a hold of someone basically It worked out that we got into this house for the next month and a half for a good deal. It's amazing, 10 times better than where we were, way more inspiring to be at. And it all ended up working out perfect. It was stressful, but it worked out. And the more that these things would come up, instead of reacting and thinking, I need to control and manage it, it was like, of course, our ego needs to do something, call the hotel, see if we can extend. But what I learned to do throughout this process is that more and more as time goes on to let go of the victim mentality of like, "Things, things are happening to me. Can you believe this? Oh my gosh, this is stressful." And so basically though, the surrender is the trust of like almost the excitement. Like imagine being more of curiosity. Like, what's gonna happen? It's almost like a playful curiosity. Like the night that, like, we went to the Airbnb and it was kind of a weird situation. Like, all right, let's go to this place called Loro. It's like our favorite little— one of our favorite little restaurant places. We went there trying to find a place, right? We're gonna make the best of it. Where are we gonna be tonight? Here we are. And then we found the place for a day or two. Are they gonna let us extend? Who knows? But it's like a playful energy. Like, control is something that I own, that only is like a survival response to believing that the universe doesn't have your back. But the universe does have your back. God has your back. But understand that it's maybe not always what you think you want, but maybe it's what you need. And that trust then gives you, in another way, something that deep down subconsciously you want. But you might not know it. We didn't know this was an avail— like, everything had to happen for us to get in more alignment and in the way that it did, so it would all in a way happen perfectly. But it won't always all make sense in the moment. You know, I think about certain friendships that I have, or even my relationship with my girlfriend. It's like we were friends for years before we ended up dating, but like, you look back and I see all these We can look back and see all these little interactions that kind of had to happen where it wasn't time yet for certain things to go in a certain direction. But when the time was right, things aligned. So it's like trusting. You don't always know, like the person, the thing might be around you right now. That's why I say like you don't have to create your own reality. People say, I'm gonna manifest, I'm gonna create it. No, you, you don't create reality. It already exists. This is what the quantum field is showing. It's a kind of a sciency term, like Dr. Joe Dispenza talks about the quantum becoming nothing to become one with everything. It all exists in the field. The challenge is that we think we need to control it we need to make it happen, and then we become attached, then we resist, and all of that just creates resistant energy. What you want— if there's an infinite number of parallel realities that exist, which is something that physics and science talks about— what you want already exists. It's just you're not tuning to it or perceiving it because of something you're attached to, or Because of resistance. This is why by the time things become natural, by the time you energetically resonate with something, it will feel natural for you. Like I travel the world, do what I love, live in a lot of passion, but it's natural. It's not this amazing thing on a pedestal, oh my God, it'd be so cool. But back when I had a 9 to 5 job and if I were to envision where I'm at now, I'd be like, oh my God, it'd be so cool. But you become the person. And sometimes becoming the person means you might need to lean into uncomfortable emotion. Maybe it's not what you want, but it's what you need. For me to become more in a stronger sense of my own leadership, I've had to learn how to have uncomfortable conversations. I've had to learn how to pitch a vision and to cast that vision and to get people bought in on it. I've had to learn to have stronger boundaries the more successful that I become. These things aren't always easy, but I become a new person in the process. So you might say, why do I attract these type of guys or girls in my life? Why? What are they— what are you learning from that? So because I think I'd maybe do a whole other video on something called individuation, feeling whole and as a solid individual. And how that is actually the key to you spiritually progressing versus just being at one with everything and not having a sense of self, a strong sense of frame. So this, as we say, it's a mixture of these two things. It's a dance. It's a dance, and you become a vessel to something greater than you, and it flows through. When I run live events, If I prep a lot, sometimes it's like if I can't have a script of what I want, I know that my— the way that my nervous system works is I become a vessel to something greater than me. And as I'm hot seat coaching people or teaching, the ideas flow, they come. And anytime I'm like, I need to do this, and then I need to get this result, and then this result, it's like I can feel the resistance. The fun thing is that the other one's easier. It's easier to actually show up as a vessel. So if you're seeing this video, take it as a sign that now is the time to become aware of who you are being and realizing that if you're trying to control or create, it may be coming from a survival strategy of trying to control things. And that when you can have more curiosity, when you can have more fun with the process, and when you can have more an understanding that you don't make the plant grow but you can become a vessel for something greater than you, that's when you'll have a shift in the energy. And the more you beat yourself up in the present moment, you're right now, you're like, I'm not where I want to I wanna be over here. I'm not where I wanna be. I'm over here. That also creates resistance. When I used to work that 9 to 5 job, the last 3 to 6 months I was there, I was very much in acceptance of where I was. It would be slow selling women's shoes, be no customers. Like, I could be making videos. Why am I here? This place sucks. No, I was like, this is my last time I'm gonna have a job ever. I just knew it. I just chose it. And then after that, As I had that perspective, it was like there was more alignment in my energy. There was less like resistance. And funny enough, a couple months later, put in my two weeks. So maybe your next breakthrough is around surrendering and letting go. And that when you truly surrender and let go, that's when you'll finally allow something greater than you to flow through. And if you wanna learn more powerfully how to detach, how to let go, I have one of my most popular videos on it right here. You can check that out. And then also, if you want to learn how to let go of the stored energy inside of your body, I have a breathwork process that's completely free that you can go through. You can check it out below, and it'll help you to release that energy to feel like a completely new version of you, which then takes so much weight off of the process and allows them to become a more clear vessel for that energy. So with that being said, I'll see you in the next one. Peace, much love, and namaste.
