How I recently became Magnetic by Letting Go and ONE Book That Changed everything

Aaron Doughty took a two-week break from social media and streaming, which improved his sleep, energy, and mood. He credits Autobiography of a Yogi and Kriya Yoga meditation for increasing his personal magnetism and clarity, and describes how redirecting sexual energy upward creates creative power.

This is a photo of my aura from one week of no social media, no content consumption, no YouTube, and no Netflix. Literally, I went from consuming in my phone probably 6 hours of screen time a day— it was surprising to me, I didn't know it was that much— to pretty much zero. I would just get back to some people on my team, do some business stuff during the day, but other than that no consumption. Now, for 2 weeks, it completely transformed my life. I went from sleeping decent to sleeping incredible every single night. I went from, um, basically eating food and watching things to being present while I ate, and that completely transformed my digestion, my gut. I started to feel more spiritually connected. And I felt more spiritually connected to my soul, more spiritually connected to my mission. I felt more clear inside of my business. I started to feel more confident inside of myself, and I started to have way more energy. It was like when I would wake up, I would just feel so motivated and clear with the next steps of whatever I was doing. And I would also start to get happiness out of small little things. Like I would take a cold shower in the morning that I would used to like really resist after like a night of, you know, like being in my phone, waking up in the morning. I started to get like, I would get more dopamine from those things and I would enjoy them more. So it's like I would start to feel high doing small little things that normally would be nothing. And even going in nature and these little things, I would start to feel more oxytocin, which is the hormone that's connected to feeling like connected and love in your heart. And I would feel less dopamine that was going really highs and then lows. I noticed my workouts were way better at the gym because I had way more energy. I felt just way more, just so different. So many things in my life changed over 2 weeks. And what happened is after that, I ended up running a 2-day live event in Sedona, which was very powerful. And from there, I then started to like move back into what I called conscious consumption. So I would consciously consume. So instead of like watching certain mind-numbing things at night, I had certain rules for myself, like no social, no unconscious scrolling in my phone at all. 2 or 3 hours before bed, I would not be on my phone. If I did watch something, I wouldn't watch the last hour of the day. So I'd watch something on like Netflix or something like that, but consciously without binging. And I would give myself a little bit more leeway throughout the day to watch some YouTube videos here and there. And while it was powerful, I found myself in this slippery slope. I just started to get sucked back in. And I moved back to LA recently for a while before I go to Europe here in a few months. And when I came here, it was like, I started, I started like, I was like, oh, I'm not gonna watch television. But it slowly but surely, I started to like consciously consume turned into like me kind of falling back into old patterns. And what I realized about myself is there was almost a, an unconsciousness that came back up in my life. That unconsciousness was something that was pulling me back into the old self and pulling me back into old patterns. And I could also tell that the unconsciousness was like a safety mechanism that I would use when, if I, to avoid feeling certain emotions. There's times where, I, you know, I'm doing what I do in my business. I'm traveling. I left a lot of my friends in Austin and came here to California. And there are times where I would normally be hanging out with friends and doing things where I'm now just kind of sat with myself. And my old mechanism back in the day was just watch a show. Just go on your phone. And this— it would become a way for me to actually disconnect and disassociate. And without my pacifier, it's like I'm sad. I have to sit there with my emotions, and I have to sit there with that energy. Now, one thing this has allowed me to do more than ever though is to go through a huge shift in consciousness because there's more clarity and there's more intuitive connection and there's more awareness behind my patterns. And there's more awareness behind my tendencies, it's allowed me to go deeper within myself. And part of that I will say is like the influence of this book, "Autobiography of a Yogi," which I've read twice before, but every time I read it, I get something different out of it. But Paramahansa Yogananda, who's known for bringing yoga to the West, he was definitely a man that was focused on God, focused on connecting to the divine. Now I know some, when I used to hear the word God back in the day, I would feel like it was related to a certain religion and then I would feel resistance about that. And what Yogananda did is he brought the East to the West. He brought the wisdom of the East because the West and the East were opposites, but also there was something to learn from each other. The West was like materialism and had like a certain level of business and abundance that it tapped into. And the East, while not materially rich, is very spiritually rich with a lot of spiritual insights and wisdom. And what he did is he kind of brought that here and used the language of Jesus and these other, like, religions to kind of connect these Western religions and Eastern religions together. And one thing that he talks a lot about is something called Kriya Yoga, which is kind of this mysterious process of realizing God, realizing God within the self and tuning into the divine. And there's— you could do research on it and it's kind of hard to find information, but one of the most powerful processes in it that I found is very simple and it did— it came from as a result of a lot of research. He talks about it a little bit in the book, but, um, Kriya yoga is basically the process of bringing God up the spine and the Kundalini energy, which is like another spiritual term, but it's like we have, we all have an incredible amount of power in our body and in our spine. And when we learn how to channel that energy up the spine and into our third eye, that's where we start to realize God. And God is the Christ center, Christ consciousness center. I know this is getting kind of esoteric. I just kind of like went from one area and just started talking about this other. Basically, for the last couple days I've been doing this meditation where I have been feeling the energy move up my spine through my breath, and I have been focusing on using my eyes and pointing them towards the Christ consciousness center in the third eye. And that is one of the main keys of Kriya Yoga, is bringing the energy up the spine, bringing it from the heart into the third eye, but into this Christ center, but looking up. This looking up thing is very uplifting, but also it's like a hack to getting into an alpha state. So if you want to reprogram your subconscious mind, and you begin looking up, like by closing your eyes and just looking up, what happens is you begin moving more into the alpha state. And in that alpha state is a different level of consciousness than the beta state, which is the consciously aware reactive state that most people are in most of the time. That is also the state where you're reactioning to your phone and you're scrolling 8 seconds, 6 seconds, 5 seconds between different Instagram, TikToks, et cetera. And what happens is when you cut out social media and these things and you give yourself the opportunity to move more in alpha state, when you're looking up and you're focused on this center right here and on bringing the energy from the heart into this area, there is a level of bliss and a level of energy that then begins to rise up in your body. And you can begin tapping into states of bliss. Now, the other aspect of this is having the intention of connecting to God, to the divine, which is all around us. But when we put our focus on the divine and we want to be servants of the divine and we allow the energy to move into this third eye, and we are focused on that, that center, that's a connection that we have to a higher source of energy that ultimately is what we're all after, whether we're consciously aware of it or not. Now, it's interesting because this is almost like a hack to reality in a way, because if you think about it, Why do we want anything that we want to create? Like, we want to create more abundance or more love or whatever it is in our life, but the reason we want that is that we can feel a certain way. You could feel more loving connection with the relationship, or we could feel more secure and more opportunities and freedom with abundance. But these two things we only want because we haven't tapped into that divine center inside of ourselves to awaken up our energy centers. Centers and waking up our energy centers and allowing energy to clear around us, to allow the energy to flow up to the Christ consciousness center inside of our body. This third eye area is a very powerful way of cleaning our energy field, but of also beginning to tap into that divine source, God energy. So it's like we can focus on creating this in our life and creating this in our life. And if these things happen in outer reality, then allow myself to feel a certain way. Or we can go straight to God, straight to the divine. Now let's talk for a minute about some of the things that block people from moving this energy up the spine and into this Christ consciousness center. One of them is just that there's so much bombardment of things in their energy field. These different things in your energy field may be attachments to other people, who you surround yourself with, guilt, shame, emotions that haven't been felt or released, identification with desires. That's what karma is. Karma, The more desires we have because we believe in the external, we're so hypnotized by the external, is also connected to how many times we may have to reincarnate over and over again because we continue to have these desires. Doesn't mean we can't have preferences, but when it comes to karma, this idea that what we put out is what we get back, but also that that some of the things we experience in our life are reflections of past things we've done that we are in a way balancing out. So it's talked a lot about it in Autobiography of a Yogi. And by the way, when we talk about Kriya Yoga, it's not so much just like Hatha Yoga and these body positions. I'd say it's a lot of it is an understanding of how to live. It's a philosophy behind life. It's about creating the inner connection to your body, the inner connection to God within, and learning how to relate to other people. But it's, it's not as much just bodily positions. A lot of it is the mental concentration of bringing the energy inside of your body and up your spine. Now another aspect of this is understanding your sexual energy. That energy Something that is also talked about in that, even the book Think and Grow Rich, there's a chapter in there on something called sexual transmutation, which has to do with transforming the energy inside of the spine, this desire energy, and bringing it up the spine and into the third eye, bringing it into the head, using it as a creative power. And it is a creative power. And what a lot of people don't realize is when you waste that energy with things that are meaningless or don't have deep meaning, you end up depleting your life force energy. When instead you can channel that energy, that desire up your spine and into the center, and you can use it for magnetic purposes. This is also something that I was— I've been reading about other people that knew Paramahansa Yogananda that have stories about him. And one of the things they said they noticed is like, when you meet someone who's considered to be enlightened, you have all these perceptions. They're gonna be super calm and just touch your third eye, you're gonna have this crazy Kundalini Shakti energy. One of the things they noticed about a few of these people that they met is that they're extremely magnetic and they have a lot of energy. So maybe some people that you think, like Eckhart Tolle or something, super calm and present. Some of them though just had a lot of energy, a lot of magnetism. When they spoke, it was not like they were speaking like, hello, this is what you do. They— there was an energy behind what they were saying. There was an energy that was flowing through them. And that energy is a result of the magnetism that is created through the channel of energy. So when we talk about what we're talking about right now, let's, let's kind of recap so far what we've been talking about. Now, first off, I started this off by talking about how social media detox and not consuming, it gives you space. And allows a lot of the beta mind attachments to go away because you're not being primed to being in beta for so much of your day. 'Cause so many people now are so tied to their phones that you can imagine if you're so tied to your phone and in a beta and reaction, reaction, reaction, you don't have space for the divine to come in, to be aware of it, to be feeling it. So one of the things that can help you a lot is, is realize that even if you just think about this in the form of brainwave states, when you aren't in your phone so much, you're moving out of beta and into more alpha state. And alpha state is where you can influence your brainwave patterns in a deeper way. It's where you feel more calm and connected, and it's a deeper level of consciousness. Now, if you combine this with the intention of connecting to the divine and moving that energy by looking up towards the third eye, closing your eyes, looking up— you don't have to overthink this, by the way— and you focus on feeling the love in your heart and feeling that energy in between your third eye or in between your eyes, and you focus on connecting to the divine, then what you'll be doing is you'll be using your breath to channel the energy up the spine, to channel that creative flow of energy. And then you can also use this area to reprogram your subconscious mind, to visualize what you want to create in your life. When you look to people like Joe Dispenza, and even like I was reading this book on Jose Silva technique, which is all about hypnosis and meditation to use on yourself. Even in that book, it talks about looking up. You could tell that there was an Eastern philosophy connection because he talks about looking up towards the third eye and also using, he even talks about it. He's not a, I think he's from Mexico. It's from back in the 1950s or something. Using your hands like these are called mudras. But when you connect your fingers together like this and you put your palms up as well, this is another thing in Kriya Yoga is putting your palms up. It's like an off, it's like it opens you up. Having a straight spine, an erect spine, very powerful for your energy. Like see how different you feel when you're sitting up straight versus you're hunched over. It's very different. And you have to catch yourself. I catch myself all the time, even on this video. I've probably been like kind of slouching a little bit, but you can tell how someone carries themself and how they— there is, there's a correlation between how someone carries themself, their energy, to how they feel, to their magnetism. And if you focus on increasing your magnetism, it's a very powerful way of you increasing your energy. And having more of that energy to flow up into your third eye to connect. Now, one other thing I'll say about this as well, um, from doing it for the last few nights is the dream quality that I have, the kind of dreams that I have, the meanings from the dreams, um, it's profoundly different than a few nights ago before I was doing this practice. Now let me also share the practice I've been doing is 30 minutes in the morning, right when I wake up, and then 30 minutes before bed. I don't really listen to that much music or guided meditation so much. I do think I'm gonna make a guided meditation that uses this process. Let me know if that's something you'd be interested in. But it's, it's something that by connecting to the divine, by moving my eyes up, by by bringing the energy from my heart up to it and breathing and pumping that energy up my spine, it's like whole new insights. I had like 4 or 5 dreams last night that all had symbolic meaning of the kind of energy that I'm moving towards. And it's like, I feel like I'm kind of guided with different perspectives. And also it just feels, I could just feel this divine presence like coming more into my body because I'm more focused on it. And one of the most powerful things I think people can do right now, if you're watching this, is that you can begin to take your power back from your energy being dispersed in so many different ways. You can focus more on going inwards and focused on the inner connection to God, source energy, spirit, whatever name you want to give it. Focus more on if there's anything you want to know, any clarity you want on your purpose. By having what Paramahansa Yogananda calls the searchlights normally pointed outwards on external, you start to point the, the searchlights inwards. That presence, that awareness, that inner body intuition begins to come on board. You get more insights. You feel, it's also a deeper level of feeling connected. Like I caught myself a few days ago being in my phone more often and then I made the rule again and I stopped watching. I basically cut out all kind of what I did weeks ago. And within a day or two, it's like you start reaping the benefits. And now I read, I'm reading a lot more, feeling more connected, I'm going inwards more. And I'm taking this as a powerful phase of my life where I think that this is gonna influence my content. It's going to influence my live events in a very powerful way. And even the kind of guided meditations I make in my High Vibe Tribe, which is a community that I have that's free, I plan on doing live meditations for connecting to this live energy and sharing a lot of what I'm sharing right now. It's a little more esoteric than normal, but I think it's a very powerful way for us all to recognize that we're all connected. We're all a part of this, and we forgot this when we came here. We forget who we are to then remember who we are. And what else in my life have I recognized recently from all of these shifts? I've been really reforming my energy in a powerful way. Even my diet's changing a little bit. I am eating more food that is, I'd say, lighter. Like, I feel like I may eventually go back to just eating fish and for a while, I haven't been, I was vegan for a while, like years ago, and then I moved out of that. But I feel like I might go to just eating fish instead of eating like everything. Just because I can feel, I'm more aware of my bodily, like the energy. So I feel like eating lighter, basically, eating more consciously as well. I feel like my energy is like kind of demanding a new level of consumption. And if you really want anything out of this video as well, the biggest insight I've had recently is to raise your standard. Raise your standards. Raise your standards around the kind of where your attention goes. Raise your standards around the kind of like relational dynamics you have. If you find yourself falling into patterns of being around people that drain your energy, where you feel like you can't set boundaries, et cetera, Raise your standard for how you show up for yourself and raise your standard for what you do with your energy and, and how you waste sometimes energy and attention. And attention is a huge part of your energy. If you want to develop more of your own magnetism, bring that energy back in your body, bring that energy back, bring it up your spine. One of the things that Yogananda would talk about is How God is in your spine. It's a radical idea, but breathing, bringing that energy up your spine, that's why yoga could be so powerful. But Kriya yoga is more about this energy. It's more of a, it's a connect. There's a connection to body, but also a concentration, mental control in a way from just being thrown into reacting to everything. So anyways, if you do want me to talk more about these esoteric concepts and what I'm learning from some of these, these concepts, let me know. Like this video. And then other than that, I'll be sharing more of this also in the High Vibe Tribe. So with that being said, I'll see the next one. As always, peace, much love, and namaste.
