How to Become Lucky (The Secret to Luck)

Aaron Doughty argues luck isn't random but a result of your beliefs and expectations. He cites Derren Brown's experiment where a town's residents attracted good fortune after learning a statue was lucky. The key: believe you're lucky, say yes to opportunities, and act like life works in your favor.

Welcome back to another video. My name is Aaron and I help people expand their consciousness. Now on this video, I'll be sharing with you how to become more lucky, and I believe this video can really allow you to understand more about the state of being, of being lucky. And how you can simply give yourself permission right now to be in that state of being. Now, you may have been able to relate to this before because maybe you've known someone in your life that was just always lucky. Things were always happening for them. They were always in the right place at the right time, and if you ask them, they just say, hey dude, I'm a lucky type person, or that's just, you know, it's just the way things work out for me. Or maybe even as a subconscious and they didn't even realize it. On the other side of that, you may have known people that were the opposite. Unlucky things always happen. They were always in the wrong place at the wrong time. And the point and the power of this video is understanding that those perspectives, either subconsciously or consciously, are self-fulfilling prophecies that from that level of awareness is then projected out onto different experiences. And if we learn how to change the way we view ourselves, if we learn how to change that placebo effect that it can have, either positive or negative, then what we can begin to do is really take powerful control over our own life. Now, this video, to be honest, was a video that was inspired by a very unlikely type of media that I watched. I watched this guy named Darren Brown who's like well known and famous in Europe and he's what they call a mentalist. Like a mentalist is kind of like somebody that's into, like kind of like a showman magician, but also into hypnosis. And his videos are very interesting because even though most of them are for a little bit of psychology purposes, but also entertainment purposes, the underlying thread of many of his videos has to do with seeing that beliefs create our experience. Maybe he doesn't know that that's his main intention with showing the videos, but I noticed it in a lot of the videos he does because it uses what's called NLP, which is neuro-linguistic programming, which is something like Tony Robbins talks about. It's something that we can use on ourselves to make us like get through limiting beliefs. But what happened is, is in a documentary that he did, which is 47 minutes or something, I'm going to link it below. It's all about the idea of luck and can we make ourselves lucky. Now what he does in this documentary is they do an experiment where the town doesn't know that this is what's happening up front, but what they do is they go into a small town in Europe and they have this statue of a dog that was already there. What they do is they just simply get the media on board of that town and they ask the question, "Have you heard of the lucky dog, the lucky statue?" What happens after that is this snowball of momentum going to where people start going over to this dog and they start petting it, they start being around it, and then all of a sudden, they document these people's experiences and these people just have lucky things continue to happen to them. Now it's something that really got out of hand because they didn't think that there would be that many things that would happen that would be good and people's experiences with it. I mean, it was a positive thing and it was funny though because the people that you see documented, you see how they think about it and the kind of things that happened with the opportunities they would take and then you would start to really see a correlation. It was almost like doing that put them into the state of being of expecting lucky things to happen. And as they were looking for it, they would make the associations with their brain and start to perceive of it. Now, this also allowed them to be in the state of being of expecting that luck, of really embracing the opportunities. And it was very interesting to watch because you watch different people's perspective. And I remember there's this one guy, if you watch the documentary, uh, you'll notice he's the butcher guy. And he was like the main focal point of it because he was very stubborn. He's like, I'm not a lucky person, and no matter what happened, he just wouldn't believe that lucky things could happen to him. Now it was very interesting because that once again became a self-fulfilling prophecy. So Darren Brown, what he did is he would set up certain like experiments to see how he would respond, this guy that just didn't believe he was lucky, and one couple things that he did was he put a lottery ticket on this dude, like a scratch-off lottery ticket inside this guy's mailbox of where he worked and he was the owner of the shop. So what happened was, is if he would just have simply scratched off that lottery ticket, he would have won a free TV, but he simply didn't believe that he was lucky, so he didn't even take the opportunity to scratch that off. Now, of course that was set up, but the idea behind it was that if he would have simply scratched it, he would have seen that. Now, this is another funny thing that he did. The Darren Brown guy put 50 pounds or whatever the currency was in front of his path on his way to work. This guy's way to work. You see the guy just simply look down at it, at the money, and his brain doesn't even see it even though he's looking right in the path. Now the idea behind this is that if he would have simply been tuned to it, or maybe he just blocked himself out from even perceiving it, but it was very interesting to see. And you'll see if you watch the documentary that once he gets to the very end, he starts to change that belief on being lucky and then amazing things happen. But the idea behind this is simply knowing that part of being and having that level of luck has to do with our beliefs about us being lucky or not lucky. And if we learn to let go of not being lucky and we're not so rigid in it, we're more likely to actually perceive of these kinds of things. Now he documents other people that start to really buy into this of being lucky and it's interesting to see because once again it's a self-fulfilling prophecy. There's one person, that owner of a bar, and what happens is, is the car breaks down and the setup, it's still kind of like an experiment, is Darren Brown has this person that has a car that had a flat tire. This person that owns the bar, she's walking by. Person asks if they can help fix the tire and she finds somebody that can help fix the tire. Well, the main part of that is what happens is, is because she, she embraced that opportunity, that led to then a connection to where that person, one of the people that was in that car, was a famous comedian over in Europe. I'm not sure of his name, but what they did was that person then performed at her bar and her bar was crazy busy, brought in all this press and ended up, she ended up making tons of money off of it. Now the symbol behind it is that if we are able to embrace the opportunities that would happen, if we are then able to act on those, what happens is, is we open up more opportunities for those to flow through to us and we then put ourselves into that expectant type nature. Now the idea behind luck is that the more opportunities that we embrace, the more likely we are to then perceive of those lucky type circumstances, and underneath that is a trust that everything is always working out for us. And if we just continue to have that trust, we'll start to see, looking back, those associations of how that is true. So the power of this video is simply knowing that the more opportunities that you embrace, the more likely you are to then put yourself in a state of being, of feeling that luck, of almost that placebo effect and really knowing at the end of that documentary they realized that the power was not necessarily with the dog. It was something that they just simply believed to be true. It was a self-fulfilling prophecy and it's powerful because then we can ask ourselves the questions. Can we do that for ourself? Do we need the lucky socks to then feel lucky or can we realize that that in a way is the placebo effect? And that we can generate that state from within by just simply knowing that we are a lucky type person, that we can allow ourselves to feel however we choose to feel, and that as we begin to do that, we know that the power is really within and then amazing things can happen. So it first off starts with the belief. It then starts with taking action and saying yes to different opportunities, deciding to simply embrace the things that happen having the trust in the things that happen in our life. And as we continue to do that, we'll then perceive of that luck as a natural state of who we are. So with that being said, I hope you guys enjoy this video. Feel free to like this video if you liked it. Subscribe if you haven't already. And as always, I will see you guys on the next video. Peace, much love, namaste. All right, bye.
