How to Deal with Awakening and Relationships

In this video Aaron Doughty shares his personal journey through a spiritual awakening that began five to six years ago and the relational challenges that followed. He describes how the expansion of consciousness led him to withdraw socially, creating a "cocoon" and even quitting his job, which he later recognized as an over‑reaction. Doughty emphasizes the importance of compassion toward friends and family who may not understand the shift, warning against the urge to "sell" spiritual ideas. He argues that living the experience authentically—being a genuine example—has far more influence than trying to convince others. He also cautions against developing a "spiritual ego," reminding viewers that awakening does not make anyone superior. Finally, he offers practical guidance for balancing the spiritual and material aspects of life: stay connected, pursue activities that serve both body and spirit, and express oneself fully without imposing beliefs, thereby achieving a more rounded, human experience.

Welcome back to another video. My name is Aaron and I help people expand their consciousness. Now in this video, I'm gonna be speaking to you about something that's really something that I went through that I learned a lot from, and it's something that I have a feeling many of you might be going through. And anytime you go through an expansion expansion of awareness or like an expansion of the way that you think, there is a like tendency sometimes to then relate to the world in a completely new way. Sometimes that becomes very not relatable because of that. There tends to be sometimes a way of going within so much that we build these walls around us to where then we don't really want to interact with people as much anymore. And that was something I went through. When I first went through my awakening 5 or 6 years ago, it completely shifted everything about me. It shifted the way that I thought. It shifted the way that I related to the world. And when that happened and I started to have these new interests and things that I would research, and I would start to share these with people, because of course, like, when it makes such a profound change in the way that I feel and I start to feel so alive, like more alive than I've ever felt, I then would of course go over to people and be like, look what I'm learning. Look about this. Like, this is something you can feel too. Like, you can know this just like I know this. And I would tell it to family and especially like friends, and it was like they were— they couldn't relate to it. And it was something that maybe they weren't ready to necessarily hear. But then from those experiences of kind of in a way feeling rejected, it caused me to really retract myself from wanting to be an extrovert that I've always kind of been. And then to go into like, like a little cocoon and not really want to interact with people in the same way. Now what I want to do is show you how to balance out these ideas and not to go overboard. Something I see a lot is people that have these kinds of experiences, they can go overboard to the point to where maybe they decide they don't want to work anymore. That was something that happened to me. I just went into work one day and was like, you know what, this doesn't resonate with me anymore. I got rid of that and I just laid low for like 6 months. I lived kind of like in the middle of nowhere. I went through an experience of just really being by myself and learning from that and just focusing on what I could do to like, I guess, learn more about who I am. But it got to a point to where it was overboard. Like sometimes you see these people that are, you know, very spiritually focused and the idea is that they can become too spiritually focused. To where sometimes it's like they neglect the idea of the kind of experience they're meant to be having. And we're all meant to have a, like, a human experience and balance out the idea of the etheric, you know, levels to the material levels. And this video is going to explain how I went about that and how you cannot let yourself really go overboard. Now, first off, anytime you go through an experience where it expands the way that you think, It's about understanding and really having compassion for those that don't understand. Now sometimes when we go through these experiences, we'll look around for people that can relate to what we're doing, and thankfully we have online so people can go online and they can see and meet other people that are going through similar things. But then we'll question ourselves and be like, why isn't my— why aren't my friends experiencing this? Why don't my— doesn't my family understand where I'm coming from? This is about really having compassion for other people and realizing that they're almost afraid to lose you. They're almost afraid that they in a way don't want to question what they believe to be true. So because of that, it's about having compassion for the way that they feel. It's about having compassion for the way that they think and not needing them to change the way that they think. Now understand that when we are in like relation to other people. We have an expectation for how people are supposed to act. When people start acting differently than that, sometimes there can be a fear there to where we don't want them to go away in the way that we know them to be. And that's how our family will act. That's how our friends will act when we start to go through this experience. So it's about having the awareness and not needing other people to believe in what we believe in. Now this is the funny thing. At first, this is like 5 or 6 years ago, I wanted everyone to see what I was going through, to see what I was learning about myself, to see how empowering it could be. And as I went through that, I would find myself almost trying to sell these ideas to people, like to sell it to them so that they could understand me, so that I could kind of express myself, and then also so that they could have positive experiences that I've had. But what I realized was, is what is more important, more important than us explaining these ideas to people, is the idea of us just living the example of what we're experiencing, not needing other people to buy into what we're saying. And from that point, what's actually much more powerful, we have much more influence by just being ourselves and not needing other people to buy into it than we do if we try to tell people what to think. That's where the resistance comes in. That's where the resistance came in with me because I remember I was telling my dad about these things and he didn't necessarily understand it and he thought that something was wrong or like that, you know, he was losing the son that he knew to be because I have all these like different ways I think about the world. And what I had to learn through that is to just be the best version of yourself. Do not separate yourself in thinking that you are as different as you may feel. Understand that what you can begin to do is realize you're having a human experience and that part of this experience is about relating to other people. It's about integrating into more of who you are, but also being a shining example of you being that full expression of who you are. So I'm not saying don't talk about these things if you love to talk about it, but definitely have that awareness. For when it's coming off as, I guess, pushy, and really just learning to live it rather than need to sell it. Learn how to live it. And it's funny because as I've gone through these last like 4 or 5 years especially, I've just lived who I am. I'm just being that example and I'm sharing these ideas. And now people come to me, not just through my YouTube channel, but also like friends and family. They see what I'm doing and they come to me and they're more open to it now than they were before because I'm not trying to influence people. I'm not trying to sell people. I'm just trying to share and express myself. That's what it really comes down to. So anytime that you feel closed out by other people, realize just become expressive of who you are, but not try to impress ideas upon people, not try to get people to believe the way that you think. The more that you live from that point, it comes from a authentic expression of who you are. And another thing that's important is not to separate yourself from other people, not to see people as separate from you, and to assume that because we've had these spiritual informational, like, openings of how we think, that we are in any way better than anyone else. We're not. We are not better than anyone. We're just having certain experiences now that are relevant for what we're going through. That's important because sometimes I see people that are going through a spiritual awakening or expanding their consciousness, and there might be a tendency for them to think of themselves and almost to develop what is called like a spiritual ego. Like we lose our ego of the way we used to think, but now we have this ego that I know all this information and I'm better than everybody else. That is not the case. We are not better than anybody. We are all on the same playing field. The idea is we might be having a different experience that might not be relevant for other people, but that in no way makes us better. That's also important because a lot of times people might feel— when somebody feels that way, when somebody feels entitled and like they're better than anybody else, and that will retract them from actually being, uh, like getting the positive message that you could be sharing if you were just authentically expressing who you are. So really, this is about just realizing that in order to balance out the spiritual and the material, we have to just become more focused on ourselves, on expressing ourselves 100%, not selling any of these ideas, not needing other people to believe in what we believe in. And as we begin to do that, we then begin to actually treasure the human experience we're having. Focus on being connected to other people. Focus on having a level of experience where you are doing things that you love to do, maybe with the spiritual side of things, but also things that are tailoring to your body or tailoring to the needs of the material. As you begin to do that, you begin to shift yourself to a more well-rounded situation, a more well-rounded feeling to where you can actually start to express yourself in a much more authentic way. You'll be hitting all of the rings rather than just some of them focused on certain ideas. So I hope this video makes you understand how you can feel more balanced in the spiritual and material sense. And other than that, as always, feel free to like this video if you liked it, share it if you found it of value, and I'll see you guys on the next vid. Alright, peace, much love, namaste. Alright, bye.
