How to Release the Patterns from Your Past (Parents, Friends, Enviorment)

Aaron Doughty explains how automatic thoughts and behaviors are conditioned patterns formed before age 8-12 from parents and environment. He outlines a four-step process: observe your thoughts daily, trace beliefs to their origin, use a physical trigger like clapping to interrupt old patterns, and rehearse the new behavior instead.

This video will show you exactly how to let go of the patterns that are running your life that you may have adopted from your parents, your friends, and your family. I'm going to show you ways that if you do this will change just about everything. Welcome back to another video. My name is Aaron and I help people expand their consciousness. Now in this video, I'm going to show you how you may be carrying around baggage that is not yours. You may be carrying around a whole bunch of clothes on your back walking around thinking that this is who you are when in reality it was simply a pattern that you learned from your environment growing up. Now the reason I'm making this video is because so many times people are unaware of the conditioning that has made us the way that we are. Now this even happens to me sometimes. I realize that if I have certain judgments in the moment, if I'm thinking a certain way, I can always normally trace that back to certain situations of my childhood. I can search that back and ask myself the question, is this really how I feel or is this how somebody that raised me felt? Because our patterns are what subconsciously run our life and understand that within the first 6 to 8 years of our life, most of our patterns are wired in because we observe subconsciously the reactions of our parents, how we relate to our parents, how we respond and relate to our outer environment. That's what we're doing up until about the age of 8 to 12 years old and we are absorbing everything, learning everything, and that's when we wire those in. Now the key to this is simply first off asking ourselves the question, what would I have to believe is true to be having this experience? Or what pattern, what person may have I had this pattern from? You'll start to notice that when you do this, you see certain patterns that you have came from your environment, came from your parents. You may find that, for example, maybe you find that you're a jealous person. You're in a relationship, you get jealous if this person talks to somebody else. Let me ask you a question. Is this really your belief or is this maybe a belief from your mother or your father? You see, usually these are going to be beliefs that we acquired from people that were around us, and the power of this whole video is understanding how we can set triggers for our own awareness, becoming aware of what these patterns are. And as we change these patterns, everything begins to change. Now this really has to do with disassociating from the old identity, disassociating from the old patterns, and starting to wire in new patterns that we actually prefer. Now, how do we disassociate the old patterns that we no longer prefer to have? Well, the first step to this process is becoming aware of what those patterns are. Now, in order to do this, what you can do every day, a small exercise that can profoundly change your life is to simply observe your thoughts for the first 5, 10 minutes of your day. Observe them come into your mind, observe them leave, observe them from a neutral place, meaning they're not good, they're not bad, they just simply are. As you observe them, you'll find that you take the awareness and you take the power from them having power over you and you start to bring it to a more expanded point of view. You'll find that when you do this, you start to not become so emotionally involved in negativity. You'll find that you're able to really respond to things that happen in your life rather react, and there's so many benefits to it. Now doing this will train you so that the next time you find yourself in a pattern that you don't prefer, you're able to really become aware of what that is. You're able to observe those thoughts, and then what you can do is you can observe those thoughts and then trace them back to when and who it may came from. Now imagine you are walking down the street and you are walking around with all this baggage and all of this luggage of stuff that you thought that was yours. You thought it was yours. But in reality it was other people's baggage. It was other people's luggage. Now it's hard to move around because there's so much weight, but when you become aware of what that is, when you become aware and observant of those thoughts, you start to take the luggage and you start to put it down. You start to realize this isn't mine. This is a pattern I've been carrying around for years and I no longer have to carry it around. And you put it down and you realize that you can actually just walk away. You will feel that much more free because you've identified the source of where that pattern came from. Now, to let that go, it's really a decision. It's a decision based on awareness. You are aware that it's no longer yours. You are aware that's a pattern you don't prefer to have. Maybe it's a pattern you can't trace back to your parents or your environment, but you can trace back to it and realize you no longer want to practice it. That's also the powerful part of this video is that you can just simply let it go. Simply decide to let that pattern go, and as you make that conscious decision, you can then focus and instead of that pattern, you can place in a new pattern of how you prefer to be. Now this means become aware of the kind of person you prefer to be. Become aware of the kind of self-image that you prefer to have, and then set yourself a trigger. Sometimes I do something simple. I've said this before. I got this from a book by Dr. Joe Dispenza. It's called How to Break the Habit of Being Yourself, and what I do is I say change and I clap my hands like this. I bring my physiology into it. So that it literally breaks the pattern. It's something that becomes much more real and I say change. And then what I do is I think of the pattern that I prefer. I think of how I prefer to be. So this is something that you might catch yourself. You're like, oh, maybe you're sitting there with your boyfriend or girlfriend and you are thinking to yourself, oh, they're looking at this person or they're talking to this person or who they texting right now. And you catch yourself in that jealous type mentality and you realize first off, it's not how you prefer to be. It may have been a way your parents were. It may have been something that you learned from how you relate to the outer environment from one of the first relationships you're in. You acknowledge it. That's the first step. You're already halfway there. Then you set yourself a trigger. You say, change. Maybe you do it more of a subconscious way to where maybe your boyfriend or girlfriend doesn't see you, or maybe you tell them about it. Who knows? But the idea is that you think that to yourself and what you do is then you revert back to how you prefer to be. Doing this with repetition has so much power, and when you start to ask yourself the question, what would I have to believe is true to have this pattern? What is the pattern here and what is this pattern telling me? Where did this source from this pattern come from? You will start to get new answers, and with that awareness, that is where almost all the power is. When you become aware of it, you can actually change it. You cannot change what you do not own. So what this means is like if it's unconscious, it's just on autopilot. It continues to run itself out, but the moment you become aware of it is the moment you take your power back and the moment you take responsibility for it is the moment you can change it. So realize we aren't victims of circumstance. I for years thought, you know, I had a victim mentality because I grew up with kind of a harsh environment of having like an ex-stepmom. She's no longer a stepmom anymore, but she was very abusive. And I kind of put that on my identity for a long time and I kept asking myself, why did this happen? Why is this my experience? But what I learned is I can let go of the identity. I can let go of any patterns of fear that come along with it. I can do that with repetition and then everything will begin to change. So I encourage you to look at this and to understand it's a conscious choice to become observant of your thoughts every single day. Make it a decision that you're going to observe your thoughts for the first 5 or 10 minutes of your day. You're going to allow them to be there. You're not going to control them. As you do that, observe the patterns you have throughout your day. Associate with more of how you prefer to be. Disassociate from the old self-image, and as you put in a trigger and you put something you do every day that sets it onto the way you prefer to be, you'll find that things start to really change for yourself and you start to become the best version of yourself.
