How to TRANSFORM Your Personality to Change Your Reality (Complete Guide)

Aaron Doughty breaks down a three-step method to reshape your personality: observe your habitual patterns, use a trigger like snapping your fingers when you catch yourself, then anchor a new identity with vivid sensory questions. He transformed from scattered ADHD energy to grounded and focused by rewiring his thoughts, emotions, and actions through meditation and practice.

Welcome back to another video. My name is Aaron and I help people expand their consciousness. Now on this video, I'll be sharing with you how to transform your personality to then change your reality, and this video will be a complete guide to doing that. And really practical advice or practical tips that we can apply in our own life in order to actually do this. Because a couple months ago I did a video called How to Unlock Your Personality that had a couple of the ideas I'm going to share today, but today it's more of an elaboration of being able to practically apply these in our own life. Now this video will be mainly based on some of the work of Dr. Joe Dispenza from a book that he did called How to Break the Habit of Being Yourself. And I remember when I first saw this video, I was, uh, randomly enough at the sauna at the gym. And I remember I went in there and there was some lady that was reading it and I remember looking at the title and it said, you know, how to break the habit of being yourself. And I was like, why would you want to do that? Isn't like the whole purpose of life to be more of who you are? And then I realized it was by Dr. Joe Dispenza who I've heard some YouTube videos of before. So then I went and researched it a little bit more. And read the book and the book was actually really good and it really laid the foundation for understanding that around us are filters that we place on ourselves based upon our personality and that when we learn to let go of those filters that we really aren't, we then start to embody more of who we prefer to be. So it's about embodying that potential rather than who we think we are through the habitual day in and day out autopilot mind that runs our life. So this video is about understanding that our personality is a combination of what we think, how we feel, and what we do. And when we change these three pillars that go into our personality, we then will change the reflection that we get in our life. That is our personal reality. So this video will also involve some work of what is called NLP. I'm going to kind of infuse that in. That's called neuro-linguistic programming. It's something that Tony Robbins uses a lot, and it's something that I think that together these ideas can really transform the limitations that we set on ourselves and allow us to then embody the potential of who we prefer to be. So first off, let me just get a little bit of a story of how I transformed part of my personality. Now this was more about letting go of, um, part of like the ungroundedness you could call of who I used to be. And this is like 4 or 5 years, it might be 5 years ago. I used to work at a place called Nordstrom's here in Las Vegas and it was in women's shoes. And from working there, I worked there for years and you know, I got to know everyone really well there. And if you would have asked somebody like to describe me, they would have described me as someone who was very loud, very outgoing, but also like I was just very random and I almost like, like to see reaction from people. So I would mess with people a lot. You could almost describe me as just like being obnoxious. I was kind of just really put myself out there and just kind of really went overboard sometimes with some of the things that I did and said. And that was like me having— I've always just had so much energy and people would always ask me like, where do you get your energy from? Now what happened was is unconsciously, because I hadn't read the book yet, I applied a lot of these techniques through reading it at subconscious levels through meditation. And what happened was is I was like that for years. You know, I grew up and You know, they said I had ADHD, so I took Adderall. That kind of zoned me out for a while. But, um, eventually what I did was I learned how to disassociate from that ADHD or even thinking I had the label. And I eventually came across meditation. So when I started to meditate, that's when everything began to change. And literally within like 2 or 3 weeks, my energy changed drastically. People were like, what is going on with Aaron? They couldn't figure it out because it wasn't that I became quiet. I was still, I was still just as loud. It was just my energy was so much more grounded and it wasn't so all over the place. It wasn't as sporadic and it was just, you could really feel a difference. So after that, you know, they would describe me as somebody who still has a lot of energy, but just like there was some change and I was just much more grounded with who I was being. I guess I was much more purpose-driven because that's when I started to learn a lot of the stuff that I share on this channel. Um, and that was like probably the most transformation that I've ever been through was through that process of disassociation with who I thought that I was learning to condition in more of who I prefer to be and then just simply embodying that over and over again. Now the new part of this video that I want to add value to you with is helping to understand and first off, like this 3-step process, there's first off, there is the observation of who you are being. Then there is the triggering of being aware of who you're being because most of it is on autopilot. Then there is the anchoring in of the new preferred state of being. So think of it like the observation is first off becoming aware of who you have been that's on autopilot. So for me, that was being aware that I thought that I had ADHD, being aware that I was constantly like triggering other people, that I was constantly you know, kind of testing the limits, sometimes being obnoxious and just having that kind of energy. I became aware of it. And then what I did is the next step was I would set triggers to where I would start to just ask myself, am I portraying this more and more? Is this emotion keep coming out of me? Am I still, what are my dominant thought patterns that I have? What am I dominantly saying to other people? And as I became aware of that, I would set triggers where I would literally just snap my fingers every time I would catch myself which set an anchor for me to then switch my focus. So the anchor then became how I prefer to be. So it was still something that was natural. It wasn't something that was forced, but I would simply redirect my attention of that grounded type energy of in my breath. I would become not so much in the head and I would bring the awareness into the body. So that's what I did, and through consistency it got to a point to where I was just able to naturally embody who I prefer to be, still have a lot of energy, still feel like I'm expressing myself, but from a much different place. Now you can apply this. Let's use an example of somebody maybe who is shy. Now being shy isn't a negative thing. Being an introvert isn't a negative thing, but it might not be something that's wanted when it gets to a place to where it's like you feel like you're not expressing yourself or saying something when you feel like you should say it. Or you feel like you're not connecting to other people, if that's the desire you have to switch to being more connected to other people or being a little bit more outgoing, what you would do is you would first off become aware of your dominant thought patterns when you're around other people or just in general. And as you become aware of those dominant thought patterns, what you then set yourself to do is to set a trigger. A trigger can be like simply you snapping your fingers. It could be you Um, saying a word every time you catch yourself that kind of snaps you out of it. It could be a number of different things, but just simply realize that when you are observing it and then you become aware of it, you can set a little trigger or something you do that catches yourself in the moment. Now the next step of the process is then anchoring in who you prefer to be, and this simply has to do with questions. It has to do with the questions you ask yourself. Now let me ask you a question. Can you anchor in who you prefer to be by asking yourself these questions? How do you prefer to feel? How would you prefer other people to respond to you? What would it really feel like for you to embody this new emotion and this new personality trait that you prefer? What would it feel like to connect to other people? What would it be like for you and what would it look like for you when you were having these kinds of conversations with other people? What would your body language look like? What would it feel like to trust other people and to really know that you can say what you want and then feel like you're expressing yourself? What would it feel like to be in self-amusement of yourself and to be able to live from that place and that expression? You see, these questions that we're asking ourselves is shifting our focus to new type paradigm, and that focus is rewiring ourselves to then focus on something else rather than the old neural networks in our brain. And we are then allowing ourselves to tailor that into a part of who we are being. So this might take a little bit of re— like consistency of doing that over and over again. And as we begin to do that more and more over time, it becomes easier and easier. So simply ask yourself those questions, start to really feel it. This isn't just an intellectual concept, and then it gets easier as you go. Now the next step of this and the last thing I want to do that's related to the NLP is understanding the way that we define ourselves and word ourselves to the new identity that we've created and the new personality we've created. So if I were to look to that old personality for who I was being, I would look at it and I literally do. I look at it and it just feels like such a different person. Like of course there are characteristics that still like bled through and it's still part of who I am, but it's just such a different person in so many ways that when I look at it, I feel like that's who I used to be, but that is no longer who I am at all. Now, in the same way, you can start to look at yourself of being whatever trait you don't prefer. Maybe it's being shy and start to maintain the perspective that shyness was who you were. It taught you how to really become the cause and not the effect. It taught you how to redefine yourself in the present moment. You can reframe it and then see that that is who you were. Now as you look at that, you start to dissociate from those characteristics, from those patterns, and you allow yourself to then remain in the identity of who you prefer, and then you can continue to maintain that perspective and do what I call hold that frame. So look at yourself, how you prefer to be, and look at who you are being right now and realize that that is who you were. When you maintain that perspective, you dissociate yourself from that state of being, from those consistent thoughts, emotions, and actions. Then you can apply and anchor in who you prefer to be by changing your focus, by choosing your state of being and doing that over and over again. Now the more you do this, the easier it becomes, and as you change these aspects and pillars of your personality, you'll see that the reflection in your life will be a new personal reality. So your personality changes your personal reality, and that will have profound changes on who you are being. So with that being said, I hope you guys enjoyed this video.
