How to turn ANY Negative into a Positive (this changed my life)

Aaron Doughty explains that you can't control external events, only your internal state. By shifting perspective on any negative situation, you can find the positive seed within it. He shares how reframing childhood trauma led him to meditation and personal growth.

Welcome back to another video. My name is Aaron and I help people expand their consciousness. Now in this video, I'll be showing you how to really turn any negative situation into a positive one and really the fundamental truth about who you are and the power you have over what you experience. Now this for me was one of the game changers that really radically changed changed the way that I view the world, and my intention is that you have an ability to see the true power that you have over what you experience in your life. Now realize that the one thing that we have the most power over in our life is not the outer circumstances, but it's our state of being and how we respond to those circumstances. Now, first off, let's understand where emotions come from. Where negative emotions or positive emotions come from. They come from the beliefs that we have about who we are and how the situation relates to us. So based upon what we believe to be true, that's what's going to determine the emotion that we get from any situation. So the best part about this, it means that things in life are fundamentally neutral, that depending upon our own point of view, that's what's going to determine whether we experience a positive of it or the negative of it. It will completely depend upon what we perceive and what we impose on the situation. Now let me give you an example. The idea of a rainy day. A rainy day can be a positive thing for someone like me who grew up, you know, lives in Vegas and it never rains. So when it does rain, I like it. Now somebody else, for example, that maybe lives in, uh, you know, maybe visiting Las Vegas, maybe from Oregon. They come here and it's raining and their perspective is, I just came to Vegas for 3 days and it had to be raining. And they get maybe a negative effect out of it. Now this is the same situation, but two different perspectives experience it in a completely different way. And that's simply because the beliefs, the expectations are different for that same situation. Now realize that any situation in your life can be seen in a similar way, and what we can do is take some examples right now. The example of somebody that lost their job, somebody that loses their job. There are easily the most common perspective is why did this happen? And looking at it and thinking, I don't know where the money is going to come from to pay for my bills. If you have kids or whatever the situation is, but when you start to look at it and see that you could have a different perspective about it instead of, where's the money going to come from? I lost my job. This isn't a good thing. Why is this happening? Instead, what if we had the perspective of, yes, now I don't have my job. What are the good things about this? Well, I didn't really enjoy my job. I enjoyed parts of it, but maybe there's other companies to where I could be doing more of what I love. Maybe the company I work for, I didn't really actually even enjoy and I didn't resonate with the way they did things. Maybe there's so many more opportunities out there that I could be looking for. Maybe this wasn't even the industry I wanted to be in and I want to start to pursue my passion. Maybe I can start networking in a new way to see if there's some type of opportunity out there that I will enjoy more. You see, these are the same situation but from different points of view. And when this perspective starts to come, we will then experience the reflection in our life of whatever we're focused on. Let's take another example. The situation of maybe your girlfriend or boyfriend broke up with you. Now, from one point of view, we could say, I love that person so much. Why did this happen? Uh, this person I thought was meant to be. I can't believe this is happening right now. What can I do about it? Why? Why is it happening? That's one perspective. Another perspective could be there are 7+ billion people out there in the world. I had this really deep connection with this one person. However, if I had this deep connection with one person, I realized that there are so many other people out there and that I could even have a deeper connection with somebody that actually resonates with me more. What could I learn from this relationship that I was in? You know what? Maybe I'll learn from these things that kept coming up and I'll create myself to be who I prefer to be so that I resonate with someone and we don't have to continue to go through those patterns that kept being brought up. I will learn and become the best version of myself, and as I do that, I know I'll find somebody that resonates with me more. You see these, the same situation but different perspectives just based upon the focus. Now in the same way, both of these situations are fundamentally neutral. There is no deep built-in meaning to either one of them. We impose the meaning based upon our focus. Now what this means, and I say this because I've been through some really dark things growing up, some things that I could have really maintained a victim mindset coming out of the way I was treated from a period of my life when I was like, you know, 7 years old to 15 years old. I had no freedom whatsoever. I was treated in a very in a way I don't want to get into it, but it was just where I could have definitely taken the victim mindset and ran with it. But the moment I started to see it from a new point of view is the moment that I dropped all the charge of the past that I had over me. I started to see the pain that I went through as something positive because I was really able to learn and deepen who I am, my purpose in life. It really led me to want to learn meditation later on in my life. And that's when, you know, 5 or 6 years ago, I really started to go within more and learn more about who I am and my purpose. And I believe that if I didn't go through a lot of that pain growing up, I don't think I would have got to the point as quick of wanting to know why things are the way they are in life, wanting to know more about how I could change how I feel about myself and how to really start to embody more of who I meant to be and to also then share this message with other people. I believe that that negative situation turned to a positive thing when I started to see it in a new way. Now realize that any situation in your life is fundamentally neutral. You can impose whatever meaning you want, and a lot of this came from a book called Think and Grow Rich. There was a part in there where he talks about that every— it's by Napoleon Hill, by the way— he talks and says that every negative situation contains in it a seed of equal positive. It just takes us to shift our perspective to it. That positive thing could be simply a lesson that you learn from, could be something that you know how to do better, could be you desiring to know more about who you are. Whatever it is, if you maintain that focus, you will start to see the reflection of it. So the thing isn't psyching yourself out and telling yourself this is positive, this is positive, this is positive. If you're feeling the negative emotion, feel the negative emotion, but just simply know that underneath it you will gain a positive perspective. Underneath it, it will sprout the positive seeds, and as you start to look at it from that point of view, you will start to embody more of the state of being that you prefer, and you will realize that the one thing that you have the most power over in your life is your own state of being. You can't control the circumstances and the situations, but you can always have control over the state of being that you're in, and that state of being comes from your focus, comes from your perspective and the definitions you have as to what things mean. This can radically change the way you see your whole life. It can really change the way that you view yourself and how you respond to all situations. So with that being said, I hope you guys enjoyed this video. Feel free to like this video if you liked it, share it if you found it of value, and as always, I will see you guys on the next vid. Peace, much love, namaste. Alright, bye.
