I stopped sabotaging myself…and this happened.

In this self‑help video Aaron Doughty explains how an "addiction to the familiar"—the unconscious pull toward known, often limiting emotional patterns—keeps people stuck in low‑vibration lives. He illustrates the concept with his own story of a controlling ex‑step‑mom and a 9‑to‑5 job selling women's shoes, showing how childhood beliefs about unfairness and authority replay in adult situations. Doughty outlines a three‑step method to reprogram the subconscious: (1) become aware of the familiar‑energy addiction, (2) take responsibility for choosing new meanings and emotions, and (3) allow a higher‑power or divine flow to guide action. He connects this process to embracing personal authority, moving beyond victimhood, and serving a purpose greater than oneself. The video also discusses how depression and anxiety are trapped energies that can be released through feeling, expression, and somatic breathwork—a technique he teaches and offers for free through his "High Vibe Tribe". By applying these steps, Doughty promises viewers can shift into a flow state, experience synchronicities, and transform their lives within a few months.

One of the things that blocks so many people from creating their dream life is their addiction to the familiar. It's the addiction to what they know. And if what you know is self-sabotage, fear, guilt, and anger, then you'll continue to stay locked in that reality, experiencing blocks that come as a result of that attachment. Now, in this video, I'm going to show you step by step how to reprogram your subconscious beliefs that are keeping you stuck in low vibration energy, that are keeping you stuck in the familiar. And we're really gonna get honest with ourselves about this whole addiction to the familiar, which is sometimes a little hard to look at. But I promise you, if you apply what I share with you in this video, you will find that in 3 to 6 months from now, you live in a completely new reality. I'm going to give you a simple 3-step process that I've used to go from working a 9-to-5 job I hate in the familiar territory of my ex-stepmom energy projected in a job that I had to living the life of my dreams, traveling the world, doing what I love. 3 steps that helped me get there. And I'm going to show you exactly what those 3 steps are for you. The way that I go about looking at the deep-seated subconscious beliefs that may be Sabotaging success is what I do is I look at the current themes I'm working with in my life, and I look to see if there was some inner child connection of a similar story that has been blocking me where it is actually a familiar childhood belief. Now, for example, one common theme that I've experienced in my life in many different ways over the last, you know, 30 years that I've been alive, is the belief that is around that of not things in life not being fair. So what I realized is at one point, there was this awareness working this 9 to 5 job I don't like, where I have managers that are very controlling, where it's not fair. It's not fair that I'm being treated a certain way. It's not fair that I'm being talked down to a certain way. And one thing I realized was that this was a very similar energy, a very familiar energy to when I was a kid, when I had an ex-stepmom that was controlling and manipulative. I realized that my beliefs of authority was that I couldn't trust authority and that authority was corrupt and that in a way there was nothing I could do because from 7 to 17 years old, I had that stepmom in my life where I wasn't allowed to have freedom. And I just had to accept it. I didn't have any other choice. So here I am years later working a 9-to-5 job selling women's shoes where there's corporate politics, where managers get away with talking to people a certain way. Just like when I was a kid, my ex-stepmom got away with everything because there was no other, there was no other outlet. If I were to tell someone at school what was happening, I would get in more trouble. Well, ironically enough, working in women's shoes, if I were to tell HR what was happening or anybody else, we wouldn't get the schedule we wanted. We'd get in more trouble. So understand that a lot of times the themes we may be going through may be rooted in similar emotions that feel familiar to our childhood. Now here's where things get trippy when it comes to reality. What if I had familiarized the emotions of things not being fair, which also emphasizes a certain level of victimhoodness. And what if being familiar to this victimhoodness, I then attracted situations and people into my life to reflect back that energy dynamic? So in essence, what on the external I am experiencing is also an excuse to feel what is familiar because subconsciously I'm addicted to the familiar. And I think everybody has a certain addiction to the familiar where what happens is we find ourselves around certain people, around certain situations, and with certain opportunities that reflect back the same familiarized energy on the inside. But the power comes when you take responsibility for realizing that you might be addicted or it might be familiar, which is kind of hard to look at. Because we get payoffs from certain beliefs. We get the payoff for believing that things aren't fair is that there's nothing I can do. This is happening to me. There's a payoff for being a victim and for saying, see, I didn't have much of a childhood. I was a victim for this and this wasn't fair. Well, now as an adult, things aren't fair. And until I took responsibility for that energy and realized there was a payoff, and realized that it was helping me, it was giving me the payoff of feeling the familiarized emotions in my body, that's when I had to start asking myself, is there something greater than these emotions that I could be feeling that would bring about a whole new reality? So for example, starting to step into the unknown, starting to go on that YouTube journey of making YouTube videos, I had to be honest with myself and realize, It was more familiar to work for a job I did not like with managers that were corrupt. That felt more familiar than the scary unknown of me going full-time with my purpose. I had to develop a mentality instead of someone telling me what to do and when to come to work. No one's gonna tell me what to do or when to make YouTube videos. I had to become my own authority. So the authority that I resisted growing up because it was corrupt, then became the very authority that I had to embrace inside of myself to become a full-time YouTuber. And one of the things that many people block themselves when it comes to understanding limiting beliefs is there's a blame game that goes on. It's this person is doing it to me. I have to work the 9 to 5 job that I hate. But no, you're choosing to work a 9 to 5 job you hate because that 9 to 5 job allows you to feel familiar emotions inside of your body that what you're used to feeling. And until you realize you're addicted to it, you will stay in it. This is hard to look at for people because you have to be honest with yourself. Are you addicted to lower vibrational emotions that feel familiar? And you're going to say, no, of course not, Aaron. I want to feel love, joy, peace. I want to feel passion. But what if that feels unfamiliar to your nervous system and you are blocking that out because you're staying attached to these limiting beliefs that feel familiar? What I'm here to say is it takes courage to look at this and to take responsibility for this. But when you do, guess what ends up happening? You open up a whole new reality for yourself. And that reality may include you stepping into tension, may include you becoming the dis— having discipline, taking action. And that cave that you don't want to enter is the cave that reveals all the gold and everything that can help you to become who you really came here to be. But you have to be willing to look at and to be honest with yourself and to realize that you may be addicted to the familiar. And the only way out of the addiction— the first way thing to realize is that you, you're addicted. And then from there, you can then decide, am I going to take responsibility and ownership for this? And am I going to allow the divine to flow through? It's funny, I've never been through— uh, I know about AA, Alcoholics Anonymous, and, and the, the psychology behind it all. I've never been a part of it or anything or had to do it, but I know some of the steps are admitting. That's one of the first parts. Another part of it is eventually having a belief in some form of higher power. That's another part of it. So it's admitting it, taking responsibility, and admitting there's some form of higher power. And I believe that with limiting beliefs, it's a similar thing. Admitting that I'm addicted to the familiar. I get the payoff of feeling I'm in familiar childhood territory. But then secondly, I'm gonna take responsibility for this. I've been choosing this subconsciously, and instead I'm gonna allow the divine to flow through me to add value to people in the world, to follow my purpose, to follow this thread. I'm gonna allow the divine to flow through so I can add value in a much more powerful way. And that powerful connection to the universe, to God, to the divine, will be what helps you to overcome these limiting beliefs. And I think that's the missing key so many people have is, Intellectually, how am I gonna reprogram my subconscious beliefs? How am I gonna reprogram it? You just need to align to the divine. You need to let the divine flow through you to be in action with helping other people. Because understand that when you add value to other people, you're adding value to other aspects of yourself. I went to a service yesterday at the self, it's called the Self-Realization Center. It's Paramahansa Yogananda. Aaron Doughty, who was this enlightened person from back in the day known for bringing yoga to the West. He's got these places in California called the Self-Realization Centers, and they're these beautiful meditative gardens. And I ended up going to one of the sessions with one of the— it was almost like a church-like setting. It was very interesting where it's not specific religion. It's more of like teachings on presence awareness and God consciousness flowing through you. It was very interesting 'cause I had this insight when this person was teaching, and it was all about how being of service to other people is your alignment to God, is your alignment to the divine. But there was this image I had, and he talked about this silver cord. It's kind of an esoteric teaching, but imagine a silver cord that goes through the top of the crown chakra in your head, and this silver cord is your connection to the divine, and we're all connected to the divine. When you are being of service to other people, that increases, that cord increases and more divine energy flows through, more synchronicity comes into your life because when you're adding value to other people, other people are other versions of you, so then more good comes back to you. So when you are of service to something greater than yourself, it's like all of this stuff gets figured out anyways. So the question then becomes, how do I reprogram my subconscious survival mind so that I can create more survival in my life to when I am of service to a higher ideal beyond myself, it's like all of this gets figured out anyways. It's just that there's a scarcity consciousness that's survival-based that wants to reprogram its subconscious mind. When in actuality, when you become a vessel of an energy greater than yourself and you add value, not only do you get better results, but it feels better. Like if I were to give you some food, amazing food that you could either hoard for yourself and enjoy it yourself, or you could share it with someone else. Which do you think would feel better for you? To hoard it all or to have some of it, but to share it with someone else will feel 10 times better because through the feeling of this sharing, through the value and through that energy, there's an expansive of energy. There's an expansion of abundance. So understand that a lot of reprogramming subconscious beliefs is more so just about just getting out of survival mode and getting into creation mode. But you can't do that until you take responsibility and until you allow the divine to flow through you, which then you're not in separate ego-based consciousness, you're in unity consciousness connected to everything. And when you're connected to everything, you're not in survival, you're thriving. And when you're thriving, there's new synchronicities, new opportunities, and new people to come into your life to reflect back that new abundant state of consciousness. If you're someone that's feeling depressed or somebody that's feeling a lot of anxiety, understand that those emotions are maybe somewhat familiar emotions from the past somehow, or maybe there was a certain funk that you eventually got into where there was an attachment to certain perspectives or limiting beliefs that have you feeling depressed or anxious. But understand that feeling depressed and feeling anxious Depression is literally a depression of energy. It's a holding onto and an attachment to an energy that's keeping you where you are. So in an interesting way, anxiety is an energy of— anxiety is always future-based, and it's always focused on not being here now. And what happens is anxiety also very often can also be excitement. Think about it. I might be doing a live event with 300 to 500 people. There will be a little bit of anxiety before I go on stage, but that anxiety very quickly turns into excitement when I start to embrace it, when I start to feel it, and I start to channel it in a specific direction. So what if the depression and the anxiety is serving a purpose, and the purpose it is serving is for you to become aware of these limiting beliefs and these attachments to these certain states of consciousness. But what it is now asking you to do is it's asking you to do something with it. And sometimes to do something with it may mean to allow yourself to feel, allow yourself to feel maybe sad. Sometimes people don't allow themselves to feel sad, or they don't allow themselves to feel anxious. And what's funny is when you let yourself feel anxious, the anxiety goes away. When you let yourself feel sad, you may find the energy begins to dissipate. Sometimes the limiting beliefs we have have unfelt emotions in the past that we didn't allow ourselves to feel, and we didn't think we were able to feel. So they stay trapped inside of the body, and then we call it depression, or we call it anxiety. When really, what is one of the cures to depression? Expression. Expressing the emotions you have. Breathwork is one of the most powerful ways I found to express the unfelt emotions inside of my body. I got certified in a specific breathwork called somatic release breathwork about a year and a half ago, and just getting certified in it, I had to go through the breathwork process multiple times, and my whole entire life shifted after I got certified in this process because I went through it a few times. And at all my live events, my 21-day challenges, we do this breathwork because it's like a ceremony for feeling and healing the emotion inside of the body. So you may find that the depression and anxiety is just stuck energy inside the body, and if you allow yourself to express it, it would begin to relieve out of your body. If you want to check out, by the way, I have a free somatic release breathwork ceremony inside my free tribe called High Vibe Tribe. It's completely free. It's an hour and a half long. I'm going to go ahead and link it below if you want to check it out to go through it yourself. but it's free because I literally believe it's so important. It's so powerful. I can't unfortunately put it on YouTube because of the music that's inside of it. But if you wanna listen to it for free, you can click the link below, check it out, and watch what happens. So if you were to apply the 3 things I shared with you in this video, I believe that in the course of the next few months, your whole entire life would transform. And that is the first step is to become aware of the addiction you have to the familiar. Become aware of the addiction you have to replay childhood energies over and over again. And becoming aware of that is being honest with yourself and realizing that you can now step 2, take responsibility for it. You can take responsibility, which remember is the ability to respond, to choose a new meaning, to choose to step into the unknown instead of the familiar. And by doing that, you begin to move the energy, realize you can feel it to heal it. And when you feel it, you allow an expression of it that then begins to leave the body. Which then leads to the third step, which is taking action as the divine, letting the divine flow through you. Be of value of something greater than yourself to flow through. There's no way I'd have been able to make 2,000 YouTube videos in the past if it was the ego Aaron Doughty that was making it all. It's a connection. And every one of you watching this video has this connection to the divine. We call it a flow state. What gets you into a flow state? Find that flow state, align with it, take action as it, and watch how much your life changes as a result.
