Is there Life After Death?

Aaron Doughty explores life after death through his metaphysical framework, shaped by losing his childhood dog and uncle. He argues that only the present moment exists, that humans are immortal spiritual beings, and that dreams let us connect with deceased loved ones before we forget the encounter.

Is there really life after death? Well, in this video, what I'm going to do is I'm going to show you the perspective that I have about this idea. Now, to be honest, nobody knows the exact answer to this. Like, there's nobody that's really come back from the dead. Well, unless you include the idea of near-death experiences, which, by the way, I find very interesting because a lot of people have very similar experiences that kind of correlate. Correlate when it comes to the idea of NDEs, near-death experiences. But the idea in itself is that this video is relevant for me at least, because, uh, yesterday I found out that the dog that I grew up with passed away. She was about 15 years old, so she's getting up there. She had a long life. She's a very good dog, and she passed away. While it's very sad, at the same time, anything and anytime something like this happens, It always makes you kind of re-reflect on the idea of what life after death is. And I know even a year ago too, my uncle passed away due to brain cancer. And when he did, I saw my whole family go through the same thing. It was like you knew that people were afraid to miss him or afraid to lose him, but at the same time, it also made a lot of people in my family reflect on the whole idea of what life after death is. And in this video, what I want to do is just share with you guys my genuine beliefs about what that is. Now, like I said, this is just my opinion. This isn't something that I'm saying you need to believe. I'm not trying to force or persuade you that my way is right. I just want to share with you guys my idea because it's a bit more outside, I guess, the realm of what people normally say when it comes to the idea of life after death. So that's why in this video what I'm going to do is share that idea with you. So I've talked about on this channel a couple of times before about certain ideas, and one of the ideas is about understanding the idea of time. Now what I'm going to do is, uh, inter— like intertwine a couple ideas about these like realizations that I've had and show you at the end how they all kind of intertwine to come to one ideology. The first part of this is understanding the idea of, uh, what life after death really means. Now when we include or even say the idea of life after death, What it implies is a linear time-space reality, which of course we're having a linear type experience because we have the perception at least of past, present, and future. But what I want to talk about is the idea of now and what that really means and shifting our focus of what now could be. Now the idea is that now, now the idea though is that, uh, the only moment that really does exist is this moment right now. When we experience the idea of the past, it was this moment now, but from a different point of view because we've never experienced the past. Because when it was the past, it was the now moment. It was now. It wasn't the past. And same with the idea of the future. Even if I were to like, uh, project what could happen in the future, the idea is that by the time the future gets here, it's going to be this moment right now, but from a different point of view. So having this level of realization, or at least this kind of ideology, allows us to really know that the only moment that does exist is now. The, the experience of time is just different points of view of that same now moment. Now the reason I'm saying this is because I believe that we are immortal spiritual beings, and what this means is that if we exist now, we will always exist in some level. Now once again, this is just my opinion. I'm not saying that you need to believe this, but this is what I like intuitively feel. What this means is that if we exist now, we will always exist. So the only thing that really changes is our focus, is our perspective. Now let me talk a little bit about the idea of dreams. Now every night when we go to bed, what I believe we do is we actually wake up to higher levels of consciousness of who we are. What this means is that while we're here in physical life, the idea is that we exist at multiple different levels. This is just one focused perception of what that is. When we go to bed every night, what I believe we do is we wake up to those higher aspects of who we are, and that when we wake up in the morning, we refocus ourselves into this experience. Now, I believe a lot of times what happens is we have certain dreams that we might think have a certain meaning, which could be like, you know, relevant for our life experience. Or the idea is that we have certain symbols in our dreams that could have been things we were doing at other levels. But the idea is that we might not even like be consciously able to understand what we do at different levels because the idea is that it could be outside of our neuro associations, like what we could even relate to. So instead of, you know, getting that which we couldn't even relate to, we get symbols, we get things that maybe don't make sense, but we at least have some grasp as to what those dreams were. So what I believe happens at night is we wake up to more of who we are. We exist in multiple different levels at the same time, and that when we wake up in the morning, we are physically here and there's a purpose to that. I don't think we're supposed to always remember that we are these, this vast level of consciousness because it's almost like that's one of the purposes of life is to wake up to more of who we are. That's what some call enlightenment. What some call awakening, and the idea is that when you awaken to more of who you are, when you know that this level of self goes far beyond the ego structure of our physical body, what that gives us the ability to do is to reach out and really extend our consciousness and more of who we could possibly be. So what this means is that when we pass away at the end of our life, what I believe we do is we just wake up to who we are at different levels, at a higher level, and then we actually have more connection to those that have passed away anyways. I think that a lot of times, like if you've had somebody that passed away in your life, I think that in your dream state, like when you go to bed at night, you have full capacity to connect to that person. It's just that you might not remember it because it might not be relevant or you might not believe that it's possible, so maybe you don't experience it. But the idea is that we connect and we are connected to all— every single one of us are connected. So the idea then is that in our dream state we can connect to just about anybody. And the idea is that if somebody passed away from this physical focus, we can still connect to them just by having the intention, by bringing that awareness in. And we do it, we just might not remember it. And I think that that's ultimately what the idea of life after death is all about. Understanding that we are all connected, that we exist in a much more vast way than we can possibly even imagine, and that that's ultimately what part of the purpose of life is, is to wake up to more of these ideas and understand that that's who we are. So I know this idea is a little bit outside of what, you know, people normally say, but I wanted to share it with you guys because it's something that at least has helped me move through understanding the idea of life after death, understanding that we're all connected. It gives me a lot of comfort in knowing this, or at least believing this for myself. Uh, so I hope you guys enjoyed this video today. Feel free to like this video if you liked it.
