Law of Attraction, Pain and Pleasure The Secret to RESONANCE (Meditation Included)

In this video Aaron Doughty explains how the law of attraction works together with the brain’s pain‑pleasure motivational system. He argues that our emotional state (our "resonance") attracts experiences that match that state, and that hidden associations of pain and pleasure create resistance that blocks desired outcomes. Drawing on a Tony Robbins teaching, he shows that people are generally more driven by the avoidance of pain than the pursuit of pleasure. Doughty walks viewers through a series of practical exercises: first, becoming aware of the specific thoughts and memories they link to pain and pleasure in any life area (relationships, health, money, etc.); second, writing these associations down and then deliberately swapping them—re‑framing unhealthy pleasures as painful and healthy actions as pleasurable. He then guides a visualization/meditation where the viewer imagines a "mirror" showing their best possible self, asks that version what it associates with pleasure and pain, and links energetically with it through heart‑brain coherence breathing. The session ends with a grounding count‑up, encouragement to notice immediate changes, and a call to download a free guided meditation and follow his social channels.

This video, I'm going to be sharing with you exactly how to use the law of attraction with that of pain and pleasure, and I'm going to share with you some blind spots you may be having that may be blocking you from experiencing what you want. Welcome back to another video. My name is Aaron and I help people expand their consciousness. Now in this video, I'm going to be sharing with you the correlation between pain pleasure and that of the law of attraction. Now this is something that I think is so underemphasized and misunderstood in a way because when we understand how every single one of us are wired, how our brain works, how we think and how we will always move towards certain ideas based on our perception, we then become aware of our state of being and how that is intertwined within the process. You see, our state of being is what is very important with this process because how we feel is always going to be our resonance. How we feel is always going to attract to us more experiences that are in alignment with that state of being. So you may have noticed that if you've ever in a really good feeling state, that things just happen to get better and better. If you're in a negative state, you might find that things keep going in that same direction. Because what we experience in our life is a one-on-one reflection to that of our state of being. Now, knowing this, we can then begin to see that we can leverage ourselves in certain ways of going in the direction of what we want, but more consciously. Now, I was recently— I was going to the gym yesterday, and when I went, I listened to an old school tape of Tony Robbins. Tony Robbins is one of my favorite seminar speakers and I was listening to it and he was talking about the power of pain and pleasure and how we're all wired and it reminded me of this idea and I was thinking to myself, how can I correlate this with the law of attraction so that we use it in a powerful way? So with it, this is about understanding that all of us have the same motivational mechanism, meaning the mechanism within us, the way that we're all wired is the same. The only thing that is different is what we perceive to bring us pleasure and pain, but it's all wired the same way. So let me explain. We will always move in the direction of what we believe will bring us more pleasure and we will always move away from what we perceive brings us pain. So this in our life with the law of attraction, we could think of it like this. When we are moving in a certain direction, if we associate things in our mind with bringing us pain, then we start to create resistance. And with that resistance, we end up creating blocks so that we can't move in the direction of what we want and what we should do, or what we can do is we can become aware of the way that we're defining things in our life so that we can increase our state of being so that as we do that, we then experience more of a path that's a lot easier without that resistance. So for example, say your goal is to attract and, uh, say your goal is to attract a relationship. For example, you're like, I want to attract a relationship. So you're focused on the relationship, but in one of your last relationships, you had a lot of pain when you had a breakup. So you had a breakup, you felt a lot of pain, and in your mind you then made a meaning and thought that relationships equal pain. There's a painful part of relationships. So even though you may be somewhat focused on the pleasure of being in a relationship because you're saying, I want to be in a relationship, underneath that there is still an unconscious association that a, of a relationship will bring pain. So it's like you kind of want it, but at the same time you kind of don't want it subconsciously. Now, this is why this process is so important because this can help you to become aware of what you are associating with pleasure and pain to help you to move in the direction. So you may have had that subconscious belief that it brings you pain to be in a relationship because what if it doesn't work out? You may be afraid of the, uh, ramifications that come if, um, we're around the friend group, for example, if she becomes or he becomes intertwined in your group and stuff like that, and then you have to deal with all of this other stuff, and there's just so many different dynamics that go into it. A lot of it we are completely not aware of, so therefore we must become aware of these things by just acknowledging it. A lot of times awareness is where the power is. We simply become aware of it and we can begin to redefine it. You may say that I want to get into great shape. I want to be at this perfect body image. And by looking at it, you may see that then you also may have some type of pain that you associate with eating healthy because the food doesn't taste as stimulating. You might have an associate a lot of pain with that of going to the gym and breaking down your muscle and having to do cardio. And you may have this goal of your visualization, but it may be blocked by that of your motivational mechanism of what you associate pain, what you associate with pleasure. Pleasure. So me, for example, I've wired myself for what I do in my daily life. I feel pleasure when I make videos. Now, is it because— maybe part of it is, it's my purpose, it's what I love to do, but another part of it is I simply know that when I turn on the camera, I get into a flow state. I've primed myself for that. I've associated a lot of pleasure with that action and I associate pain with that of sitting around and doing nothing. So almost, you know, most of my day is spent putting in the kind of a direction that I want to go in and loving the process along the way. It's not like I have to grind and create resistance. It's more so I just love the process, so I just keep on doing it and I've wired myself that way. Now this is the thing. Most people aren't wiring themselves consciously. They're just on the autopilot mind. They're just living off of what they've always done in the past. So the key to this is for you to take deliberate direction of that, of your pain and pleasure mechanism. What do you associate with pain? Don't you— what do you associate with pleasure? Now here's something that's very interesting. What Tony Robbins has found is that people are actually more motivated by pain than pleasure. People would rather get out of the pain of a situation than move into the pleasure of a certain situation. So people, if for example you were, um, you knew that if you kept eating a certain way that eventually it would lead to, uh, some type of disease, right? Maybe your doctor says to you, oh, if you keep eating this way, you're going to end up with diabetes or something like that. All of a sudden you have all this motivation to lose weight, to eat the right foods and to live that lifestyle because of the pain that may come if you don't do it. But if that wasn't there and there was just this goal of you being able to get the good, the right kind of body image that you want so that you could be in a relationship, even though that is a pleasurable situation, there's more motivation underneath the pain of, uh, the survival mode than there is of the kind of pleasure that could come from being in a relationship and feeling good about your body image. Do you see what I mean? So the reason I say this is become aware of how you are wired because many times you may say, I want to attract more money, but underneath that you have all of these pain mechanisms. You, this way that you think about money in your mind that it's painful. Oh, I'm going to have to grind really hard. I'm going to have to create a lot of resistance along the way. I'm going to have to become this kind of person that's just not a very spiritual person because then I have to create, you know, focus on money. Do you see what I mean? So what we can begin to do is begin to redefine our pain and pleasure mechanism, how we think about pain, how we think about pleasure, and be aware of what we currently are. Because unless we wire ourself in the direction of what we want, we will continue to create resistance. We create resistance from the things that we associate with pain. So what we could start to do is to consciously wire it. Now, this is an exercise that I'd like you to do right now. And it has to do with just becoming aware of your pain and pleasure mechanism. Become aware of maybe something that you— one area of your life that you want to improve. You want to improve in some area. Maybe it's your health, maybe it's the kind of diet you eat, maybe it's, uh, you want to become more abundant. Whatever it is, focus on what you currently associate with pain, what you currently associate with pleasure, and write that down and become aware of it. That's the step. First step, you just become aware of what you currently are associated with pain and pleasure. So for example, if it were something generic that I think we can all relate to, it'd be like weight. It could be, oh, I feel a certain way about food right now. I like stimulated deep fried foods. I like foods that make— that tastes good in the moment, even though on the backend it makes me— drains me of energy. I like— and I associate pleasure with it. It's fast, it's convenient. All of these things that you associate pleasure with eating unhealthy food. And then what you do is you associate and you write down all the pain that you associate with eating healthy food. Maybe it just doesn't taste good. You have to force yourself to eat it. There was this time when you were young when you were forced to eat it and it reminds you of that. All these things on the other side, you know, it takes a long time for her to make it. All of these things that associate with pain. Then what you do is you look at both of these sides. You've got pleasure on one side, pain on the other side, and the second step is what you do is you switch them around. You start to find the opposite of each one. So for that of unhealthy foods, you start to associate pain with unhealthy foods. You say, well, if I eat these unhealthy foods, it's going to drain my energy. I'm not going to have energy to do other stuff. I'm going to feel, I'm going to feel okay for 10, 15 minutes, but it's not worth it because on the back end I'm not going to feel good for a couple hours. I'm not going to feel like I have a lot of energy. I'm going to have these chemicals in my body that I need to detox. Toxify. And then on the other side of it, you start to associate pleasure with that of the healthy foods. You say, well, I'm going to feel vitalized. I know my taste buds will eventually change. You see what I mean? So you can apply this towards anything. This analogy, you could do that with abundance. You could say, I associate pain with making money because even though I want the money, I associate a lot of work, a lot of uncertainty. Maybe people will judge me for it. You become aware of all these things because when you become aware of it, is then when you can actually change it. Now there's one more part of this process I want to share with you, and this is an exercise that I think you can do. Now this is something that has to do with rewiring and linking up with the version of us that is already wired the way that we want to be. So let me give you an example of this. Right now, the best version of you doing exactly what you want to be doing in your life already exists. What I mean by that is there's an infinite number of parallel realities that exist, and because of that, you don't have to create your own reality. I've been sharing this lately because I think it's so powerful. You don't have to create your own reality. You just have to choose it because it already exists. So make the choices. Think about how much struggle comes with, I have to create my own reality as if it doesn't already exist. It already exists. It is simply vibrating at a different frequency. So what you could begin to do is to begin to be aware of that and then imagine the best version of yourself and exactly what you would be doing, exactly how you would be acting, and what you could then do as you connect to that version of you. You can see how that version of you would associate things with pleasure and associate with pain because they're going to be wired a little bit different than maybe you currently are. So you see, this can be so powerful because then what you do is you begin to develop the same belief patterns as this version of you. You begin to develop the same emotional triggers as that version of you. You begin to literally resonate with that version of you because you are wiring the motivational mechanism into you as the resonance of the version of you that you prefer to be. So this is what I encourage you to do. It's to imagine the best version of you. I look at the best version of me that I can imagine, which would be me traveling the world, giving seminars in different cities, doing events, staying at amazing hotels, doing and living a lifestyle that's a little bit different than the way I currently live with just making YouTube videos and having an online business. Now they're both perfectly fine, but that's the direction I want to move in. So I imagine that version of me. What would that version of me associate pleasure with? That version of me would associate pleasure with travel. That version of me would associate pleasure with speaking in front of people and sharing ideas, being able to interact and meet the people that watch the YouTube channel. That version of me would associate pain with probably remaining in the same place and not really doing anything. That version of me would associate pain with holding in the information, not sharing it with other people. You see what I mean? I could start to look into this version of me and how I live, the daily habits I have, the things I associate with pain and pleasure, and I can start to imagine that version of me and I can start to adopt that now in the present moment. And by doing so, I will begin to then resonate with what I want to experience. So this is something I think can totally transform your life if you start to apply it, because you will start to resonate with the version of you that you prefer. So let's go ahead right now and get into a quick meditation. What we're going to do is we're going to link up with this version of us. I'd like you to do right now is to take down, to write down. Or to put it in your mind, 2 or 3 things of the best version of you that they would associate with pleasure and 2 or 3 things that they would associate with pain that maybe is different than the way you currently do. So for example, I would associate a lot of pleasure with that of, like I was saying before, with traveling. And right now I kind of do, but I kind of also associate it a little bit with pain because I'm trying to get so much work done. You see what I mean? So for me to move around, it kind of goes into the work that I can get done for my online business and getting my foundation set so that I can travel in the next 6 to 8 months. So you see, I become aware of it and then I could start to write these things down. So maybe you can write it down. Maybe you have a certain body image that you want to be at. You right now see that I'm talking about this stuff that maybe you have and are associated pain with being in a relationship because you associate pain with not having freedom. You associate pain with not being able to do what you want when you want, because then you got to like kind of adhere to someone else. Do you see what I mean? This is about bringing this into the conscious. So write down 2 or 3 things and what we're going to do is we're going to go into a quick guided meditation and this is going to be an exercise to wire in the version of us that we prefer with these pain and pleasure mechanism in the direction of what we want. So what I want to encourage you to do right now is to take a deep breath in, a deep breath out. And to relax with every breath that you take and to feel your body become more and more relaxed. So let's go and take a deep breath in, deep breath out. Breathe it out.
Feel your body relax more and more with every breath you take. You will feel your body relax and loosen up. Now put your hands over your heart center because when we do this, what we do is we increase the electromagnetic energy in our heart and we begin to create what is called mind and heart coherence, which will expand our energy out and help us feel more present to the moment. Let's take another deep breath in, deep breath out. As you breathe out, if you can, feel free to close your eyes and know that with every breath you take, you feel more and more relaxed, more clarity, more able to influence your subconscious mind in a powerful way.
Now begin to feel the sensation in your mind going around your forehead.
Feel your forehead relax. Feel the sensation in your eye sockets. Imagine them relax, loosen up. Feel your jaw loosen up, your tongue relax. But the sensation in your left arm, your left hand, Feel it squeeze and relax. Your right arm, your right hand, feel it loosen up, relax. Put the energy in your chest. Feel this vibration inside of your heart with every breath that you take, pulsating. Bring the energy now into your stomach. Put the awareness on your left leg and foot. Feel it relax. Your right leg and foot. Feel it relax. Now I'm going to count down from 5 to 1, and with every number I count, you're going to feel your body sink deeper and deeper into relaxation. Feel more relaxed. Than ever before. You're going to feel a wave of sensation flow through their body, carrying with it anything that you don't serve. 5, feel yourself becoming more and more relaxed. 4, with every number I count, double the relaxation. 3, feel now as you let go. 2, loosen up. And one, feel how relaxed you are. Feel how you can feel this energy inside of your heart, this feeling of love. Now imagine that you're in a very relaxed place. This could be a place that you can always come back to for clarity, a place you can always come back to, to do inner work. This can be indoors or outdoors, could be at a beach, in a forest, in a room you feel very comfortable in. Whatever it is, imagine that you're in this place. Now imagine what it feels like to be here. Imagine your environment. What colors do you see? Imagine the sounds you would hear. Pay attention to the emotions you feel. Now, as you soak in this environment, notice that about 15 feet away you see a mirror. And this is a mirror that as you walk up to, you notice it's about 6.5 to 7 feet tall. It's got delicate trimming on it, very elaborate. This mirror represents the best version of you. When you look into this mirror, you are able to connect to the best version of you doing exactly what you want to be doing. And you can communicate with this version of you. Now walk over to this mirror, look in the mirror, and notice that immediately you can see you doing exactly what you want to be doing for a living, in the perfect relationship. You can see the lifestyle you'd be living. And pay attention to how you carry yourself. What do you see? What kind of emotions do you feel in this reality that you are looking into? How do you respond to other people? Now, first off, ask this version of you— and notice the glimmer in their eye as they look at you— ask them, is there any message that they have for you right now? And pay attention to what they say. Now ask this version of you any question that you may have on your mind, any clarity that you would like, any guidance. Take your time now to ask any questions. Now ask this version of you, ask them what they associate pleasure with and see what comes up. What activities do they associate pleasure with? What part of their lifestyle do they associate pleasure with? Now make the intention right now that you embody those same perspectives so that you resonate with this version of you. Now ask this version of you what they associate pain with. I'll be aware of whatever that is. I set the intention that you are able to wire yourself in a similar way. Now ask this version of you if If there's anything else you need to know, any other piece of guidance. Now put your hand up to the mirror and notice that as you do so, you see The other version of you putting their hand up to the mirror as well. I'm going to count down from 5 to 1, and what you are going to do is to link up with them. And as soon as you touch this mirror and you touch the reflection of you, you will embody the same resonance and you will be forever changed. This is something that will come with you. You will start to see that your life begins to change in a very positive way. Positive and powerful way. Start to put your hand towards the mirror. 5. Every number I count, you're feeling more of this excitement in your heart, more of this love. 4. Double the amount of relaxation, double the amount of love.
3.
Feeling now this resonance from your higher self, from this version of you.
2. 1.
Feel this energy now surge through your body. Knowing that you are now resonating with the best version of you. And be grateful, because from this moment going forward, you will notice that your life changes in a very powerful way. You put your hand down now. Say thank you to this version of you. And know that by the end of the day today, you will see something in your life that shows you that you have changed, that you have rewired yourself in a very powerful way. Now I'm going to count down from 5 to 1. We're going to become more alert, present to the moment, knowing that we've just rewired and started to adopt a new level of direction in our life. 5, feel yourself become more alert, more present. 4, begin to move around your body a little bit. 3, wiggle your fingers and toes. 2, 1. You can open up your eyes now, feeling relaxed, feeling yourself now resonating more with the version of you that you prefer than ever before, knowing that you have just made a powerful change. You have just literally linked up the resonance with you to the best version of yourself. So be on the lookout today because you will notice that things appear differently. You will notice that you'll feel inclined, maybe motivated to do something out of the blue today. That's because you have now resonated with this version of you and that this is who you are now. This can be as simple as a choice that you make, that this is now who you are, and from this point going forward, your whole life can change in a powerful way. So I encourage you to look into that. And I also have a free guided meditation that will show you how to raise your vibrational set point. This is something that when you do, you begin to literally create more and more pleasure in your life. You start to really go in the direction of what you want.
