Eckhart Tolle argues you don't need to forgive people in the traditional sense. Instead, recognize that harmful actions come from someone's unconscious ego, not their true self. Forgive the unconsciousness, not the person.
Chapters
What Eckhart Tolle says is that when it comes to forgiveness, he says you don't really have to forgive, which is real triggering to a lot of people that they hear that. You don't really have to forgive because in your core essence of presence of the God source energy that you are, that's consciousness, that's conscious present awareness. Anything else that happens to us that's not that is unconsciousness. So whatever happened to you, whatever anyone else is doing to you, it's coming from a place of unconsciousness. It's not the divine spirit within the person that's doing it to you, it's their separated ego that is doing that to you. And it's maybe not as aware, but that means that you're not forgiving the other person, you're forgiving the unconsciousness in them.
