Narcissists and empaths are drawn to each other because they share an abandonment wound from childhood. Narcissists take overtly to feel worthy; empaths give covertly to feel safe. Both recreate demanding parental dynamics, trying to close an old loop.
Chapters
Narcissists and empaths, they tend to attract each other a lot because they have the same core wound. They have an abandonment wound. Now, the modes for which the empath and the narcissist get their needs met is different, but also both the same in that it's manipulative. The narcissist takes and demands in order to get their needs met. The empath will give to then get, so it's more covert, but it will give in order to help somebody else, in order to fix somebody else, so that then they can feel safe, then they can feel enough, then they can feel worthy. You get to be the one to fix someone else. And I believe we attract people into our life to close the loop from childhood a lot of times. That's right. So if we're one trying to close the loop from childhood and where our childhood is of a very demanding, highly critical parent, we may be attracting highly critical people into our life to show us and for us to learn the lesson.
