Non-attachment and decreased importance (the biggest secret)

In this instructional video Aaron Doughty explains that placing anything on a pedestal—making it "important"—creates a separation between the self and the object, which generates resistance and blocks natural flow. He links this phenomenon to the Scale of Consciousness, describing how emotions such as fear, desire, anger, and love map onto a numerical scale and how a "positionality" (the perspective we cling to) fuels attachment. Aaron argues that desire is a manifestation of fear and that both arise when we view outcomes as external to our inherent wholeness. The core solution he proposes is to see goals (money, relationships, career, housing, health) as natural extensions of the self rather than as elevated, separate goals. By shifting self‑image to one that perceives these outcomes as natural, we dissolve resistance. He illustrates the principle with personal stories about renting and acquiring a house, describing how visualizing the desired outcome nightly and releasing importance allowed the situation to resolve effortlessly. Aaron also introduces a meditation for changing self‑image, emphasizes the importance of giving oneself permission to be carefree, and explains that external validation mirrors the energy we embody. The video concludes with a call to practice the meditation for 21 days, promising transformation through non‑attachment and decreased importance.

Anytime you put something on a pedestal, now imagine this is you right here, this is the thing you put on a pedestal. Anytime something is made important, it's put on a pedestal and it's immediately separate from us. This is why when we are feeling needy, when we are feeling like we're making something important or we are attached to anything, we create resistance. And the key is what I share with you in this video that if you absorb will completely transform your life. Welcome back to another video. My name is Aaron and I help people expand their consciousness and raise their vibration by making spirituality practical and relatable. So if you haven't subscribed yet, hit that subscribe button, turn notifications on so you can see the videos. I do 3, sometimes 4 times a week. And guess what? It is not super, super important you do that, but it would be cool. So non-attachment. And decreased importance. Now, anything we make importance, we create resistance around. Now, say someone wants to attract money into their life, and it's very important that something goes well, this new business contract, this business opportunity that they have, this job interview they go to. Imagine going to a job interview, and it's really, really important that the guy likes you. It's really important that it goes well. Well, most likely, because it's on a pedestal, because you're making it important, you're not acting as natural as to who you really are. Now imagine even if you go to a party and you want everyone to like you, it's important that everyone likes you and validates you. Well, guess what? People are gonna feel that you're not being as authentically you, carefree, easygoing. Think about attracting love. You are talking to someone that you're attracted to and you really hope it goes very well. Well, guess what? Once again, you've put them on a pedestal. And when they're on a pedestal, they're immediately separate from you and you're looking up at them and they're looking down at you. So anything you create and that you make very important, you create resistance around, and you can track this almost to everything that you've had that has fallen through in the past. I guarantee you at a certain level, it's because you may have made it very important. So, um, if you look at the scale of consciousness here as well, I actually, I did this a little bit wrong. So the scale of consciousness, you'll see fear, anger, desire, neutrality, willingness, reasoning, love. Now we are naturally unconditional love and peace. That is who we naturally are. Anytime we feel anything less than this high vibration, it's because we are attached at some level below us, and that attachment could be what is called a positionality. A positionality is a perspective through which we see the world through. If we're angry at something, someone else, or something they did to us, we have a positionality we're attached to. This person did this and they shouldn't have done it. That's why we feel that anger. If we feel some type of fear, then it may be, oh, if I do that, then that is fearful. If I go out when it's raining and I'm driving and I'm afraid I'm going to get into a car crash because there's a belief there that negates us, that fear comes up. So the key to this is being aware of what positionality, what perspective are we attached to that we're seeing the lens through. Now here's where I messed up. I, when I wrote the scale out, I wrote desire above anger. Desire is actually even below anger. Anger's at 250. Fear is at 100. It's a scale from 0 to 1,000. Love is at 500. So you got 100, 125 is actually desire. And desire means an— it's almost like a neediness, a yearning for something that you don't currently have. Now the thing is, is the reason it's above fear is because the desire the desire, the neediness is out of fear. It is a misinterpretation because you're already, already whole and complete. If you think you need someone else to be happy, then that is a fearful projection because you're externalizing your own happiness. And if it doesn't go your way and you're not controlling the outcome of things, then you feel, oh, this fear is coming up. These things aren't happening my way. So when I look to what the key to this whole entire process is, if I could, summarize it for you and understanding non-attachment and decreased importance just in general, it's take things off a pedestal and see it as natural. See it as natural for you. You see, when you want something and you desire it and you need it and you yearn for it, or you make it very important, what you are doing is saying that that thing is not who you naturally are. That is not your natural self-image. That's above you. Think about it like this. And then there's that pedestal and anything you make important, you put above you and you're saying, that's not natural for me. So if you're making $50,000 a year and you're like, I wanna make $75K a year, but you don't see that as natural for you, you're not being that version of you, then what happens is you put it on a pedestal, you create resistance and you're saying, nope, this isn't me. I'm a $50K person a year, uh, $58,000 a year person. This is who I am. You see? So the key to this is seeing it as natural. I remember when I first wanted this house and even the house before it. So this house I got back in January and when I got it, this is what happened. I really, really wanted this house. There were only 6 houses in all of Las Vegas that were in the price range that I wanted with the kind of quality that I wanted. I saw 3 or 4 of them. Then I see this house. I come in, I start walking around. I'm like, whoa, this looks way nicer than in photos. Even in the videos that you see right now, the quality of the things here are really nice. And I'm like, whoa, I'm not used to this. I really like this. So what happened is I really wanted to get into this house. So here's the caveat. In order to get into this house, I had to wait. I was supposed to wait until February when I needed a house in the end of December. But what happened was, once again, I realized that first, when I first came, saw the house, I knew this is the house I wanted to be in. I wanted to rent. I'm only renting, I'm not buying. I didn't buy. But this is what happened. I was, and I'll tell you a visualization process for this as well that works like magic, super powerful. What I did is I realized I was starting to make it important. And as I started to make it important, I was creating resistance around it. So I caught myself because I've been through this before in many different ways. And it's also coming from sometimes trying to control the outcome. I'm very impatient. Maybe that's a limiting belief, but I had this like perspective and this resistance I was creating around it. So what I did is I just kind of let go. I allowed it to happen. I let go of the outcome. And what I did is I saw it as natural for me to be in this house. Even though there was a guy that was living here who was actually a magician here in Las Vegas. I came, met him, a real cool guy. But he, this was like his second, third home or something like that. So it wasn't a huge deal for him to be here and he was supposed to be out in February. So I just kind of expressed it to him. I was like, oh, I'm going to like, you know, I'm in the Palms Place right now, which like these little condos, I can't wait to get in, blah, blah, blah. And I kind of just put it out there. And then he's like, you know what? He got out in like 2 days. He like moved everything out. But what I had to do is I had to let go of importance. Once I let go of importance, that's when it happened. I saw it as natural. What I was doing is I was visualizing as I was going to bed every night in the Palms place that I was at, which I didn't really care for because it was like, they were nice condos with a cool view, but every morning I wake up, I could smell things through the vents. It was like, you know, you share AC. I don't know, wasn't a big fan of it. I wanted my own space, my own house. So the house smelled the way I want. So what happened is I would go to bed every night at that condo and I would imagine myself being in the room because I already saw the house in the room that I wanted to be in. And it is natural for me to wake up and walk around and enjoy the house. So I saw it as natural. The house before that that I lived in, maybe you remember that house that was a, it was a very like blue walls and stuff. Do you remember that? I have like hundreds and hundreds of YouTube videos with that house. Same. It was almost the same thing. I really, really wanted the house, but that house, there was like 6 different, no, there were, I don't even remember. There was like 3 to 4 applications already on it. So I was competing. But what I did is I saw it as natural because as I started to really care and want it to be a certain way, I realized I was infusing resistance into it. So I let go and I tapped into something else. It's called outer intention. I'll talk about that in a different video. I've talked about it before though. Now here's the thing with non-attachment and decreased importance. Non-attachment is attractive. Non-attachment is very attractive. When you don't care how someone else acts, how someone else, what they do, when you don't care and you're not attached to the kind of, the money, it's not needy for that money to be made in a certain way, you have very loose, carefree energy because you're not attached. You are free. This moment is already 100% whole and complete. You see, that's what it is saying when we make things above us, that our self-image isn't linked up and that we're not already whole and that this moment right now is not good enough. That's why it says here, ends versus means. When we want something else or we feel lack or we make something else important, we are saying, we are making things a means to an end. We're saying, once I get this person into my life, once I make this kind of money into my life, then I will feel a certain way, then I'll be whole and complete. You're already whole and complete. You could have an intention for something, but do not infuse importance onto it. You're good either way. You're already whole and complete. So the key is to remember also, you get what you focus on. If you focus on how you don't have that which you want, you focus on something that's important. Remember that importance comes from fear. It's right next to that of desire. I know I messed up the scale, but it goes fear, desire, anger. So that wanting, that importance is put on a pedestal. The best thing that you can do is to change your self-image and to see it as natural. Now realize that all you really have to do for this, by the way, is give yourself permission. Give yourself permission. To be carefree. You see, we all have a story about how we are, a story about how we've been in the past, a story about the kind of money we make, the story about the kind of people and the love we attract in our life. That story's on autopilot. And once you become aware of that story, what you can then do is you can then see it as— have part of your story be, I see it as natural. I see it as natural for me to attract love into my life easily. I see it as natural for me to attract abundance and money into my life easily. I see it as a trap, as natural for me to be in healthy shape, for me to eat good food, for me to exercise. That's natural for my self-image. But if it's on it, if it's important, or if we're attached, we create resistance. Attachment, as Buddha said, he said the attachment is the root of all suffering because then we're saying this moment is good enough already. I lack something right now. I'm not whole and complete. If I had that money in my life, if I had that person in my life, if I had these things in my life, then I would be enough. But that's not the way it works. You get more of what you are. If you are whole and complete, if you give yourself permission to feel confident, if you give yourself permission to do what you're passionate about, it's all about permission. It's agreement and permission. I gave myself permission at a certain point to make YouTube videos and to know that what I say has value. Then people started to agree and be like, oh, this stuff has value. It was an emanation of my own energy. So people are constantly reflecting back to you that which you are embodying. So the biggest thing I can tell you is to don't focus on the attachments thinking those are gonna make you happy. Don't make things important 'cause that's just saying that that's not who you are. Instead, See it as natural and be that version of you. See it as natural. No, you're already whole and complete. Be that version of you embodying it. Be it because it's who you are. It's an, it's an end of itself, not a means to an end. And as you begin to do that, you'll notice your whole entire life begins to change. One of the most powerful meditations I have that helps with this process, by the way, is a meditation that has to do with changing your self-image. which also has to do with seeing it as natural. It's one of the most powerful meditations I have. You can click below to check it out. Let's do it for 21 days. Watch how it changes your life. Other than that, hope you like this video. As always, peace, much love, and namaste.
