Once you SURRENDER like this, your reality shifts...

Aaron Doughty explains how needing to be right keeps you stuck and how surrendering shifts reality. He traces his pattern of attracting controlling landlords back to childhood power dynamics, then describes the frame technique, a body-awareness practice that creates a magnetic personal field, and daily rituals like cold showers and meditation that maintain high-vibration energy.

Would you rather be right or would you rather be free? Sometimes we can be right about reality, right about other people, right about power dynamics and how similar they may be to the past, but at the expense of being right, we may not be happy. We may not feel free. And one thing that will really shift in your life is when you realize you would rather be free than be right. Part of this is also has to do with becoming aware of the stories and the beliefs around other people. Like someone that believes that when I'm around, like they're around or they attract people that don't follow through, or they attract people that are controlling. Well, maybe you're right. The people you attract into your life are that way. But the challenge is that that will remain the pattern until you become aware of the pattern. That's what it is. And maybe that pattern feels familiar. Sometimes as well, when people on a recent live I did, they were asking about the SP, How do I attract the SP, which in the law of attraction community stands for this specific person? And the answer is that the specific person is actually a specific pattern, and we like to fight to be right. Isn't that a song? Fight to the right, but instead of to party, it's to remain in similar patterns. Okay, party and patterns. Here we're having some interesting realizations about these words here, right? So if you want to experience a shift in your reality, give up the need to be right, because sometimes the need to be right about reality is what's keeping you where you are. Yeah, it's a Beastie Boys song, you're right. So A lot of the power comes when you realize it's your story. Like, something I'll share in a YouTube video that's coming out soon is a story that I've become aware of recently that I have within power dynamics with authority. So for example, whenever I am renting a house, this has happened 2 or 3 times in the past, back in 2000 and probably 19, I was renting a house in Vegas and the owner of that house was very neurotic, very controlling, very— it was almost like it was just very unpleasant to deal with. I remember moving into the house and within 2 weeks of moving in, I used the oven for the first time and the oven didn't work. So I let the guy know that owned the house, right? I was renting the house from, I was like, by the way, the oven doesn't work. Can you get it fixed? And he goes, yes, that'll be $500 to get it fixed from me. I'm like, no, I'm renting the house. I don't pay to get the oven fixed when I just moved in. And he was arguing with me 'cause he thought, no, you should pay because you moved in. I was like, no, otherwise I would buy a house. I wouldn't be renting. So I had to deal with this person that owned the house. And then what happened is it turned into this thing where I was like, why am I attracting this type of controlling resistant energy in the person that's— that I was renting that house from. I rented it for about a year. Fast forward, I moved out of a house about a month ago. I moved to LA, and I'm now dealing with the drawbacks to moving out of a house where the owner of this last house I just moved out of is extremely controlling, neurotic, and so much so that the person that cleaned the house was this person's normal house cleaner, she wouldn't even do the house cleaning because she said, oh, this person, the person that owns the house, it's never good enough for them. They have such high expectations. She wouldn't even clean the house. I had to pay someone else to clean the house to do a deep cleaning. So what was interesting is I realized, and I'm dealing with this thing now to where I should be getting like a big security deposit back that I paid, and now I'm like in this spot where I'm having to deal with someone that's got this energy like that. And the reason I share this is I've been looking within myself. I'm like, why is it that around an authority figure, even though it's just someone I'm renting a house from, there's this power dynamic where I feel like I have to either be a rebel, I have to fight for my freedom, but there's a story there that says this isn't fair. And what was interesting is in childhood, there was a very similar energy. Things weren't fair. There was someone that was controlling, had very high expectations. Someone that I felt like when I rented that house for a year, so neurotic that there was like walking on eggshells anytime I needed something done. I'd like call or like there wasn't a property management company, but there was a feeling like I was walking on eggshells. Even this person's husband that I talked to sometimes, he felt like he was walking on eggshells around this person. Interesting, right? So what I became aware of is, one, there's some story there that's on autopilot. I can be right that authority figures are this way and that it's not fair and I have to fight for my freedom, but I wouldn't— I'm not free as a result. So the power here is an understanding that whatever stories you have about other people, maybe you have stories that people don't follow through or you have stories that people show up late. Maybe what that's spiking in you is a certain emotional for you to decide, are my emotions going to be skewed because of this other person? So my breakthrough with this person that I'm working with is one, to stand in my power, but two, I'm not a leaf in the wind asking for permission. Even if I lose the money that I put down on security deposit, I'm not gonna let my emotional bandwidth be drained because of the situation. So there's more empowerment that's there now. And even when I look to different areas of my life where things are shifting in a powerful way, it has to do with me owning my voice, owning my power, and not making decisions based on guilt, not make decisions based on walking on eggshells. Now, in an interesting way, one thing I became aware of also within this dynamic is that the very story that I'm projecting onto authority figures like this person that I'm renting the house from, that now it's closed out and everything, but the same thing I'm projecting onto them, and I'm aware by the way that some of it is a projection. Some of it is true that there's this controlling dynamic and in the sense that it's like really high expectations really high, like, you know, expectations for how the house should look when I moved out, when I spent so much money to get it looked exactly how it was when I left. But there's an awareness there that I don't have to continue living up to those expectations. But what I'm aware of is that I also— what triggers me about that is that I am also I infuse that own level of control over myself in my business, in my work ethic, in my diet. It'd be very hard to look at sometimes is these different aspects of the things that trigger us and other people also may be things that we can integrate inside of ourself. I was just talking to a buddy about this, about how, you know how there's some people that are almost just so entitled that they're able to just go and like ask for what they want? They could like go to your house and be like, "I want this in your fridge." And they just start drinking something. Or there's like, not that, maybe there's just like, they just really in a way have no problem feeling worthy enough to grab this or to do this. And then, You look at that and you say, "That triggers me that they do this." But also what triggers you is the fact that they can do that. And part of it is the awareness like, "Oh, I don't wanna be in that lack of awareness." But the other part of it is, "I wish I had the worthiness or the ability to just go and kind of like not demand, but maybe to ask for what I want a different way." So it's almost like there's something to grow with. From that mentality. So that's one thing I'm becoming aware of in my own life is what are, what are my stories? What are my stories around people that I'm trying to be right about that feel familiar? And instead of being right, would I rather be free? What if you were to let that story go and you were to realize that there could be deeper connections in your life? You have questions, feel free to put the questions in the Q&A box. Maybe I'll answer a couple. Yeah, what are our expectations? I realize I have such high expectations of myself that would create a lot of resistance. Yeah, what else have I been working on lately? Lately I've been looking at my own shadow around even when I come on here to talk on Instagram, there's times I can become aware that the vulnerability, like I envision and part of my identity is being vulnerable with things that I share on Instagram, social media in general. But there's another aspect of me where I can see that there's like a vulnerability line that I'm afraid to cross because I don't want to be seen as someone that doesn't have a lot of things figured out. When the truth is, there are things in my life that I'm figuring out, and that's what I share in Instagram content and YouTube, right? I share what I'm working through in an authentic way, but there's this persona, it's like, no, to be speaking at live events and to be coaching people, you have to have it all figured out. You have to have this persona, this person that you are that just, it's almost like thinking that you need to be on top of the mountaintop telling other people what the information is when really all that energy's inside of you anyways. Somebody says, do we exchange energy with others through sex? Absolutely. Anytime you are interacting with other people in general, you are engaging and exchanging energy. And I think a lot of times what happens is people, not that this has to be a judgmental thing, but there is a difference between judgment and discernment. Discernment is when you become aware of your own energy and you have more of a standard, not in a judgmental way where it's like this person's not good enough, but you want to, what are your standards for having an intimate connection? Is there some, there has to be some connection there. Or is it just you have to be somewhat attracted? Like, what are your rules for that? Because understand, when you're doing that, you are literally exchanging energy at a very deep level. And I think people very often, just for the quick-term fix, there's a ramification for a period of time afterwards of maybe feeling drained. That's why I think It's best obviously when there's some form of connection there, but a lot of people may bypass that for the quick fix or the quick relief. So it's good to be aware of where your energy goes, but yeah, 100%, that does affect energy. You wanna have a certain standard within yourself of the kind of people you connect to, Do they have a clean energetic field? Do you have a clean energetic field? Are you guarding your own boundaries? How do you become more confident? The most powerful way I found to be confident is to live according to my own integrity. So to live according to my own integrity, live according to my own values. The more you do that, the more you begin trusting yourself. Understand as well, having courage leads to confidence. When you have the courage to break out of your comfort zone, you begin to expand beyond how you think, feel, and act in the familiar. You begin to expand beyond that. You begin to then— challenges your sense of identity, but you begin to say, oh, I can do this. I can do something new. And expand myself. And in 2017, when I started making videos, I was not confident in making videos. I made videos, became confident through repetition. So confidence is also— the word actually means trust. Can you trust yourself? Trust the unknown. Trust the courage that you have. And watch that the more you do anything, the more confident you become. Does that make sense? Also, the frame technique. The frame technique is one of the most powerful processes I have found for feeling magnetic in my own body and feeling strong in my own frame of reality. And it's really simple. All you do is you put the awareness inside of your body. Everyone right now, put the awareness inside of your body. And feel the separation between you and the walls, you and the phone, you and anything else that's around you. And as you put the awareness on the separation, you start to then feel more inside of your own body. And even if you take a deep breath in, deep breath out, what you do is you start to feel more safe inside of your own frame. What you'll find is that through doing this consistently, you start to feel safe. And when you go out, you're not then looking to the external to change how you feel. You're not trying to find safety in external as much. You're feeling safe inside of your own body. That's where magnetic energy is. And for those that haven't heard the story of how I found this technique, there's a couple different ways. But one way was going to a life transformation place in Costa Rica. There was a consciousness teacher, and basically what she said is, she was at the front of the room and there were 30 people in the audience. She said, "Everyone send me energy, send me energy, send me energy." And she said, as everyone sends her energy, there's like this repelling effect, and you can feel it. It's a projection of energy. And she said, "Now everyone bring the energy back in your body, bring the energy back in your body, bring the energy back in your body." and then there's this magnetizing effect towards the audience. And then what I've done at live events to show people the power of this is I have them get into groups and to feel the separation between each other and then to feel the projection. And you could feel a very big difference. Someone is more magnetic and more attractive when they are having fun in the moment and they are in their own body and they're not needing anything from you. And when you start to be present inside of your own body, you start enjoying the moment, you start living according to your own frame of reality having fun, you will be more magnetic, but you will also enjoy the process. That's the funny thing about being magnetic, 'cause people are like, I wanna be magnetic so that I get approval, so that I get this or that. No, you be magnetic because it feels good to be in high vibration. It feels good, not to mean you're not feeling low vibrational emotions, you're just focusing on high vibe. but it means that you're in alignment. You're enjoying the flow of life. You're having fun. You're enjoying the process because ultimately we have been conditioned in society to hustle, to work really hard, to get to some external result so that hopefully we can be happy and we prolong our own happiness. And what I'm saying is when you enjoy the process, when you have fun, you not only get those things anyways because you're more magnetic and because you're more primed to more synchronicities and more opportunities in your life, but also you enjoy the moment more, which is a win-win. By the time you get all the things you goal yourself of having that you say, oh, I'll feel happy once I receive all this, it's a letdown because that thing is not what makes you happy. It's the process. It's not the end result, it's the process from which you enjoy. So instead of going to the process, believing that the process is gonna bring you happiness, instead, focus more on enjoying the moment. Focus more on loving what you do, following the purpose, following the passion. I am so grateful for what I get to do for a living because I get to, in a way, share these ideas, help people in live events or whatever content I'm creating, but it feels good to me, not only the result of seeing people's responses or getting messages from people of different things that have shifted in their life, more so, I just love doing it. It was a win-win. Exactly. That's one of the biggest things you can, if you really wanna shift your life, focus instead on what you want to attract and the goals you have, focus more on who you can become in the process. Focus more on being the person you choose to be. Think, feel, act equal to the passion that you have. Be in your zone of genius more often. Literally, your excitement is abundance. Like, more money comes into your life the more you follow your excitement. The more opportunities come into your life the more you're in your excitement, the more you're in your passion. Like when you have someone and you talk to someone about something they're passionate about, you can literally see their voice. They'll go, "Yeah, blah, blah, blah, blah." And then they start talking about something that they're passionate about and you just see them come to life and they're speaking with so much passion and you're like, "That is magnetic." And you have that for you too. You have that energy. You have the capability for it. "How do you protect and clean your energy?" Boundaries is a very powerful way. Now, protect and clean your energy, I mean, if I'm being honest, I do quite, if you wanna protect and clean your energy, one of the strongest things for you to do is to begin to value your energy. Begin valuing keeping your energy clean. This means becoming aware of the kind of people you're engaging with, the kind of people that you surround yourself with. Become aware of how you feel when you're in certain environments. Become aware of how you can fill up your own cup. One thing I do every day is I try to surf a few times a week. I go for a bike ride every night after I eat for about an hour on the boardwalk here, breathing in negative ions. I go to the gym every day, which I love. I sometimes will go to a sauna and cold plunge. Sometimes I'll just go sit in the sun and absorb the sun. I'll meditate. These are all things I do to clean my energy, to keep a clean energy field. But also the people I surround myself with are of a certain quality, not quality like they're better than other people and these are low vibe people and these are high vibe people, but literally The people I surround myself with are also people that do what they love for a living. They're people that have a certain vitality. They're people that are looking at themselves, they're looking at their patterns. They're not just projecting their stuff onto other people, they're looking at themselves too. They're people that will also, we call each other out when certain things come up and we're not afraid to be vulnerable to share things. So there's a healthy dynamic. So it really starts, protecting your energy starts from the values you live by. Are you living according to the values of keeping your energy field clean, which means being in a high vibration, which means following your purpose, following your excitement, setting boundaries when it makes sense to set boundaries? That's one of the most powerful ways to do it. I could tell you, oh, this is what you do, but it's not what you do, it's a value you live by. That's where change happens. When you change at an identity level and your identity changes, not your life is a reflection of the values you have which make up your identity. I just kind of shared a lot of my energy practices for me every day. Meditation every single day, no matter what. I read every night before bed for about 30, 45 minutes. I write down in the morning, I write down my dreams from the night before, the patterns I've become aware of in my life, the 3 things I'm grateful for. I take a cold shower every morning. I make videos every day or create content every day. I eat healthy. I go to the gym. I come back, I eat, I go for a bike ride. I come back, go to the beach sometimes to watch the sunset, hang out with friends, sometimes call family to connect with family or connect with other people. Those are the practices I do every day. I'm in LA right now. I'll be here for a while. I want to go to Florida afterwards. There's so much stuff going on in Florida though right now. I don't know when I'll do that. I'm here for another couple months. Let's see. How to not let, how to not think about your manifestation all the time. Let go of the outcome. This is where instead of focusing on the manifestation, believing it's gonna bring you happiness, you focus more on being the version of you you choose to be. Following your purpose, following the excitement, being in the energy state, focus on your energy state and this stuff falls into place. Now, when you let go of the outcome, you're letting go of how things happen. You're letting go of believing that you even know how things should happen, and you're giving it up to the divine, a greater source than yourself. Now, the challenge I believe is that a lot of people that wanna manifest, they wanna control reality because in their past, maybe they felt they couldn't control so much, so now they wanna control, and if they can visualize what they want and then experience what they want, they feel like they're in control. What I'm saying is that maybe you're putting too much pressure on your ego to do everything instead of focusing more on who you are being. You see, focus on who you are being. You're not being a specific way so that you get a specific result. You're being a specific way because it's who you choose to be. And then allow the divine to flow through. Makes a big difference when you let the divine to flow through you. We're all connected to the divine. When you're in a flow state, you're connected to the divine. Time goes by so fast. You don't have to think, it just happens. Someone says, I dated a guy I did not respect before I knew my worth. How do I clear any and all of the sexual energy I shared with him? I think through simple intention, what you can do, what I'd recommend is if you have access to the ocean, go to the ocean. And the way I view saltwater is saltwater is kind of like liquid sage. That's how I envision it. But through your intention, you can begin clearing your energy and honestly do the frame technique. For those of you that don't know, the frame technique is a very simple process. I have YouTube videos on it. If you want a $1,000 course for free called High Vibe 101, in there, there is the frame technique section that comes with a step-by-step meditation process and a workshop. It's called the frame technique. You can respond to this, Vibe 101, V-I-B-E 101, all one word. I'll send it to you. It's a free course with the frame technique section in there. And you can go through that and watch how you basically are disconnecting energy cords and bringing your energy back. And take it as a sign now that you're aware of this, that it's a good thing. He served a purpose. He made you aware of how you wanna be treated. And you now have a certain sense of self-worth. So it served a good purpose that helps you kind of like heal the resistance around it. It's like, I should've, you judge yourself because you were hanging around someone like that. Someone says, frame technique was the first thing in my life that really changed something. I'm happy to hear that, Julie. That's awesome. Like I said, vibe101, all one word. I'll send you the frame technique. It's literally for free. Do you get a lot of your inspiration from Eckhart Tolle? I do, absolutely. Power of Now was such a powerful book. The New Earth was a great book. Seeing his, uh, seeing his, um, live, like, YouTube channel and stuff. Yeah, I really like his energy. Mm, anyways, I am getting hungry, so I think what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna go eat my first meal of the day. I've been intermittent fasting. Anyways, hope you all had fun. Um, was there anything else I needed to say? That's it for now. Other than that, we'll do another one of these soon. As always, peace, much love, and namaste.
