Once you want nothing, you'll attract everything

In this self‑help video, the speaker (Aaron Doughty) explains why the more we desperately want something—love, money, success—the more we block it from manifesting. Drawing on the book Reality Transurfing, he introduces the concepts of excess potential (over‑assigning importance to an outcome) and the space of variations (an infinite field of parallel realities). He argues that attaching excessive meaning creates resistance, which prevents the desired reality from surfacing. The talk then moves to how this dynamic is rooted in childhood conditioning: unmet inner‑child needs for validation, perfectionism, and people‑pleasing generate the habit of seeking external approval. Healing that inner child—by recognizing, soothing, and re‑parenting those parts—reduces the need to project importance onto external goals. The speaker also presents a “bottom‑up” approach using breathwork to release stored, repressed energy in the body, illustrating how such release can shift one’s energetic state from lack to neutrality. He emphasizes embodying the desired reality now through visualization, fun, and aligning with the feelings of already having what is sought, rather than waiting for external results. Practical tools include a 21‑day “Love Shift Challenge” and a guided meditation aimed at raising one’s vibration and sustaining the new energetic alignment. Throughout, personal anecdotes about his YouTube journey, quitting a 9‑to‑5 job, and transformative breathwork experiences illustrate the principles in action.

Why is it the more you want nothing, the more you become one with everything? And even think about it, the degree to which you want love or relationships into your life is the degree to which you block it from coming into your life. The degree to which you want abundance and money is the degree to which you are blocking that abundance and money. And the degree to which you let go of even wanting it is the key to actually finally allowing it in. In this video, I'm going to show you how letting go of wanting has completely transformed my life. It's allowed me to create more success than I can even imagine. It's allowed me to create more connection in my relationships. And they're concepts from a book that's called Reality Transurfing that have these concepts that will just completely transform the way that you look at reality. The first time even this book came into my awareness was back in 2017 when I first got on YouTube and somebody told me that they had a billionaire friend that recommended this book and that this book was something that would really shift your perspective of abundance, of energy, and even of how reality works. And that's why in this video, I'm gonna show you the 3 things that will completely transform the way you view reality and what allow you to finally start actually resonating with what you want versus wanting it, which is lack. Now, even think about this analogy to begin with, and you've probably experienced in this, in your life. You want something really bad, you think about it a lot, and you are trying to get it to come into your life, and you find that the more you try, the more you resist, the more you seek, the less you find. And then, only then, when you finally let go— you might get tired of wanting it, you might shift your perspective, shift your focus— and all the sudden, when you finally let go of the attachment to it, or you were more present to the moment, what then happened is then that thing came into your life. I can't tell you how often I hear from people that say, "I've stopped looking for love and then it happened." Think about it. You want love in your life, you're seeking love in your life, and what happens is the seeking and the wanting infuses into the present moment that it's not here. And what happens is then you get more lack. The moment you let go, the moment you start having fun with your friends, the moment you let go of the— that energy, all of a sudden it comes in. Sometimes people will even say something like, I actually made a rule for myself that I'm not going to, like, be in a relationship for the next, like, year, and then a month later it happens. Because they, they really reduce the pressure. So the first concept I'm sharing from this book called Reality Transurfing has to do with this understanding that wanting is actually an energy of what is called excess potential. Excess potential literally means that you are creating what is called excessive meaning. Towards something in your life. Now, the idea and what Reality Transurfing talks about is how we live within what is called the space of variation. What this mean is that there's an infinite number of parallel realities that exist, and that what happens is anytime we make something have excess meaning, excess importance, we are creating resistance around that thing. And when we create resistance around that thing, we actually block that thing from coming into our life. So imagine it, imagine there's an infinite number of realities that exist. This is what quantum physics is showing us. And what happens is when you want something and you really value it and you make it important, you put it on a pedestal, and you energetically say, this thing is not equal to my identity, this thing is up here. And what happens is that's the resistance that's created. So one of the things you first off want to become aware of is where in your life are you creating excess potential? Where are you creating excess meaning? And the other side of this is when you realize that everything in life has no built-in meaning other than the meaning you give it. And if you think about it, why is it that you will be around maybe two different people? One person is the crush, the person you want to see you a certain way. The person that you're hoping likes you. When you are around this person, you project excess potential and excess meaning onto them. Now, subconsciously as well, our experience of someone that is putting excess potential or excess meaning onto us is very uncomfortable because it feels like an intrusion. It feels like someone's projecting energy at you. So what ends up happening is from that, you feel— they'll feel resistance from that pedestal that you're projecting onto them, and you'll actually block connection with that person. You're not giving yourself permission to be the real you too, because the stakes are so high. The question you might ask yourself when you go out or around this person is, what do they think about me? It's all about me. It's all about the vision, the, the viewpoint, and you might contract your nervous system when you're around them. Feel into that energy for a moment. It's very different, isn't it, than if you were to take the energy of that, of somebody that you don't feel any importance at all around them. Not that you look down on them, but like, imagine it's a good friend of yours where you're unconditionally loved and supported. You might be a little bit weird. You might give yourself permission to express yourself in a different way. And what happens is because of that, you give yourself permission to be the real you. So in a way, it's like an abandonment wound may come up around this person. Subconsciously, you're projecting importance onto them, not giving yourself permission to be the real you. Creating excess potential as a block to connection. Over here, you don't want anything in particular. Therefore, you're just being yourself. And this energy over here and this energy over here, they're both neutral energies. It's just that there's a projection of importance from one to the other. That's the only difference. Have you ever had it where you met someone and you may have put them on a pedestal for a bit, and then it was like, it was an energy where you— it was hard to connect with them, and you realized you were like kind of making it weird? And then something happens where you realize, oh, we're all human. Oh, this person has a different side I haven't seen. Or you just come and start realizing your own worth And then all of a sudden it's a completely different way of relating. What shifted? It was a neutral thing to begin with. We subconsciously project want and desire onto things, and then we subconsciously block those things. So one of the first things to understand in this process is that if you want to completely transform your life from the inside out, start to develop an energy of more neutrality. Observing your thoughts, observing the desire, and realizing that that desire— you think you want this thing over here, but part of the joke is that that thing over there is all a projection from the mind. It's not really over there. Anything you want is because of what emotion you think you'll feel if you have it. What this means is that the emotion already exists inside of you, and the key is you giving yourself permission to feel it now. Because when you feel it now, you become more of an energetic match, and you end up enjoying the process more along the way. So the first thing to understand with this whole scenario is that importance is something that is self-projected. It is something that you think there is something outside of you that can give you some sense of resolve. And when you start to understand this energy, you realize that the wanting itself does not exist out there. How can you begin to connect to a deeper part of yourself that satiates that wanting because you connect to you. This is the deeper layer. Are you ready? There's two deep layers we're gonna go at each of these that creates a much more powerful transformation from the inside out. Now, I can first off very much remember so many different, like, situations as I started to grow on YouTube. Even as I started to grow on YouTube, and I quit my 9-to-5 job that I didn't like, it was like a whole new world. And when I was really dialed into the process, it's like, think about it like this. When I was making consistent videos on YouTube, like one a day for years, there was no excess importance or meaning around any one video because the next day I was gonna make another. And if it wasn't that great, it's okay, because the next day I was going to make another. So through repetition and through consistency, that's one way of decreasing importance. It's one way of decreasing the meaning that's, that's placed onto it. Now, also, when I first got on YouTube, it was like I was excited to be on YouTube. And as things started to grow, it was like I was so immersed into the process. But eventually you start to get tied to the results if that's like a standard you want to put. So in the very beginning, it's just for fun. It's just— it's, yes, I want to create a business out of it and quit my 9-to-5 job. But putting in lots of reps was one way of keeping me in the process. But it was also a way of keeping not any excess importance on any one thing. And what happened is as I started to do less videos a week after like 3 or 4 years, some videos would be more important because now I'm not doing as much. And I could feel the difference there. And I could feel that I'd almost not give myself as much permission to be myself and to have fun with it even. But so if you're— if you think about it like this too, this is something deeper we can look at when we talk about inner child energy. When you think of importance, that's an ultimate identity of perfectionism. Perfect is a way of projecting importance onto the result. So if it's very important that you look perfect or that you are perfect with content or expressing yourself, etc., That is a childhood energy that is rooted in some level of importance that was given in childhood to a certain way you had to be. Okay, so we're getting a little bit deeper here. This is how it connects to inner child energy. Here's the kicker: the inner child energy that desires— if we don't satiate the inner child by seeing, hearing, soothing, and nurturing that part of ourselves We will want in external reality what we did not receive as a kid. Really connect to this for a moment. When you think of the things we may value, if we value subconsciously significance, which means we value to be seen, we value to have lots of followers, we value to have people's approval and validation, We look for it on the external only because we haven't satiated and nurtured that inner child part of us. The reason we value it is simply because we didn't receive it. So a lot of times when you see very successful people in the world and even people with large followings, it may have been a root deep down a pattern of shame and trying to cover that shame up by becoming very successful and receiving the thing that wasn't normal as a kid. This is something I had to look outside myself when I was first getting on YouTube and desiring and wanting the YouTube plaque, the 100— the million— the million subscriber plaque, which was a symbol of all my hard work. Ironically enough, the most growth I've ever had on YouTube has been when I did not care about the results. When I let go of even needing lots of followers or needing videos to get lots of views. It's when I was most inside of the present moment. So that's something that is just a huge, powerful transformation for me was recognizing and beginning to soothe that part of myself. So when you think of the inner child satisfaction, now, Realize there is an inner child part of you that wants— they want to be seen by you, not the other person, not the YouTube audience, or any of the other things that we might search for on the outside. This is why, by the way, inner child healing is so powerful. Inner child healing is so powerful because what you get to is you get to the root of the patterns. And every pattern, in a way, is a form of importance or excess meaning. If you root it back down to the thing that I talk about in many of my videos, that we get to the question— is the most powerful question that will completely transform your life from the inside out. That question is, who did I have to be as a kid to receive mom and dad's love? Because if you had to be an over-giver, a people pleaser, hyper-independent, if you had to be someone that was self-reliant, invisible, perfectionist, these are all patterns that are rooted in importance of who you believed you had to be. That role most likely is still on autopilot. When you shift that energy and you become aware of it that will start to free you alone. And that will start to make you and help you realize that the key to wanting nothing is really a journey of healing. Because when you are one with God or the universe, what happens is you are accepting of the moment, not trying to use the moment as a way to get somewhere else. Not subconsciously trying to use other people to meet your needs. Your inner child just wants to feel seen, heard, soothed, and nurtured, not fixed. Sometimes we might see the perfectionist inner child or the, uh, people pleaser. We feel ashamed of them. The key to this and understanding this whole process of what we're talking about is it's like In a parallel reality way, that version of you is locked in a timeline creating lots of resistance because you're not paying attention to them. So this is why this kind of inner child work is so powerful, and this is why the identity will completely begin to transform your life when you begin to see it as your old identity. It's not who you really are. So one of the things that I do often is I visualize myself— it is natural for me to be in a reality of deep connection and relationship. It is natural for me to be in a reality where I do what I love. It is natural for me to be expressing myself authentically and helping people. It is natural for me to be in a reality where I'm having fun. And these values are not the values that I didn't receive as a kid. That's where the work is. It's values I choose. So remember, we will value what we didn't receive as a kid. If you didn't receive validation or approval, you'll value that in the external and you'll look for it. And the more you look for it, the more you won't find it, because it's not out there, it's in here. So something we're going to be doing soon, if you want to join it, is we're going to be doing a Love Shift Challenge. This is something you can join by clicking the link below. This is something that's going to be starting soon. This is going to be a 21-day process for shifting into the identity of us being in loving connection to ourself and others. This is for people that are either single and want to attract a relationship, or to do the inner work to heal from the inside out, or it's for people in a relationship that want to go deeper. But really what it's about is it's creating that internal shift towards embodying the love, joy, and peace now. So if you do want to join, we'll be starting on a group soon. I'll go and plug that below. But now, as we move to the third and one of the most powerful parts of this process, it's about understanding that as you— and before you go into the process and being this version of you, there's repressed energy inside the body that wants to be felt. You might think— let's take this a step further— you might think that you want the approval, the validation, or whatever it is you want why you want it, the emotion you want to feel. You might believe that that emotion of what you want is something you want because you actually want it, but in fact, it is a way of regulating your nervous system. It is a way of feeling enough. And when you get to the energy of feeling the unprocessed, repressed energy under the surface inside of the body, You don't have to understand all the patterns. You don't have to understand it all. It's called the bottom-up approach. You feel, heal, and release stored energy from your body. And that expression comes through— yeah, I'm thinking of breathwork right now. And breathwork, you can release decades of trauma through expression and through a simple breathwork ceremony. And your life will literally continue to unravel for weeks and weeks afterwards. I remember when I got certified in the breathwork process that I am certified in, and I had to go through it 2 or 3 times. And one of the second breathwork ceremony I went through completely transformed my life. I let go of stored energy inside of my body that I thought was like my own to realize that, yeah, it was in my body, but it was from my mom's side of the family and stuff that she went through. And it was like, it was a block that I had around sadness and feeling not enough. And when I released it, it was like everything in my life began to transform. People started to rearrange, new things came into my life. It all came from releasing that stored energy. That stored energy was like an agitation under the surface that was causing the want. And it was like afterwards it was a neutrality of being good either way, because underneath the repressed energy is presence. Which brings us to the third point in here, which is that if you imagine the space of variations, everything you can imagine already exists. It's not something you need to create. The key is embodying the energy of it now through having fun and enjoying the process. Enjoying the process and also taking on the, the, the qualities of that version of you. So for example, me creating more, um, like powerful content, me live on stage doing what I love, coaching people. It's like I can get into that energy now through different things that I do, whether it's my Zoom calls when I coach people my 21-day challenges and things like that. I've been, I've been really embodying that version of me and also setting up my life in my business to reflect that part of me back. And one of the most powerful things that I've recognized is that when I take the attention off of the result and even needing the result and like wanting to get to the results, so the process is a means to get there. To simply enjoying the process now, having fun with the process now. Focus on embodying those energies now instead of waiting. What you want already exists. It's simply about energetically tuning to that version of you. And when you do that, you allow yourself to begin to really wire in this new aspect of you. So what I recommend you do is you start to become aware of where importance is in your life, where you're projecting excess meaning onto things. Then you'll be able to be aware that that unresolved energy is something that you could begin to embrace, to release, let go of that repressed energy underneath the surface, become empty. Empty means you're in love, joy, and peace, which is who you naturally are. And that's one of the jokes of this entire process, because it's not about what you become. It's about literally becoming nothing, which is a— do— has to do with letting go. So if you want to learn more about this, by the way, and you want to do a meditation that's one of the most powerful meditations I have ever created, you can read the comments to see what's possible from people. You will look at your old identity and then you will start to merge with this version of you. This concept is in one of my most powerful meditations on raising your dominant vibration permanently. Commit to it for 21 days, read the comments to see what's possible, and watch what changes at the end of those 21 days. Go ahead and go here and check it out next.
