REMOVE THESE 4 Roadblocks To Enter 2022 As A NEW PERSON

Aaron Doughty identifies four internal blocks keeping you stuck: perfectionism rooted in childhood, addiction to familiar emotional patterns, physical tension from self-pressure, and operating from your head instead of your heart. He links repeated patterns like moving houses to a lack of safety in your body, and argues that shifting from perfection to progress and leading from your heart's electromagnetic field creates effortless change.

The roadblocks to you becoming the most ideal version of you in 2022 might include a level of perfectionism, this internal pressure that you create inside of yourself for you to be the ideal version of you. Now, the crazy thing about this is that this energy dynamic plus 3 others that I wanna share with you are the blocks to you being the real you. They, many of them come from childhood dynamics. If we feel an incessant need to be perfect, then we put a whole bunch of pressure on ourselves because growing up, we may have had strict parents or we may have had to been perfect in order to receive or get approval. And therefore we do that within ourselves now and we create these self-sabotage blocks inside of ourself. And in this episode, I'm gonna show you step by step how to remove the roadblocks to you being a new version of you. And by the end of this episode, I promise you, you will not be the same. You will be a new version of you, and you will have let go of the blocks that are holding you back from the love, the life, and the purpose that you are meant to live. Welcome back to another episode on the Aaron Doughty Podcast. In today's episode, I'm gonna be sharing with you the 3 main roadblocks that you must let go of to then step into this new year as a new version of yourself. And these are roadblocks that I'm either realizing in my own life. I'm also in the middle of a 21-day challenge with thousands of people right now, and there's common themes I'm noticing and common things people are expressing that are holding them back from being their true expression of themselves, whether that's attracting more love, more money, going full-time doing what you love. These new patterns that you want to lay down for 2022, the thing that will hold you back from doing that are different roadblocks, different forms of self-sabotage. And in this episode, I'm gonna show you exactly what to do, how to remove those roadblocks, and how to really become and realize that you are a new version of you every second. Every second, you're recreating yourself. Your cells in your body naturally do this. Every moment your cells, your body's recreating itself. The thing that keeps us locked into the old reality is the stories that we tell ourself about why we are the certain way that we are. And that's what keeps us glued to the past. In a way, it's also the familiar. We are addicted to familiar emotions, familiar ways of thinking, familiar ways of feeling, and familiar ways of doing different things. The addiction that we fight for is because we feel safe in familiar emotions, even when familiar emotions aren't actually pleasurable. We don't actually even enjoy it. Now, to even start this off, I wanna share with you something. I have a coach that I'm working with, and she's a coach that helps me. Her name is Julie. She is a coach for finance and abundance, and she's also helping out with my 21-Day Magnetic Abundance Challenge. And I called her yesterday, and I wanna share this with you because maybe you'll see how different familiar patterns in your life stay on autopilot because this was a huge insight and a huge epiphany for me. So basically what I was doing is I was calling her, and I was also just catching up with the call that she just got done doing and congratulating her 'cause she had an epic session with like, you know, 500 people that were on there live. And what happened is, is I was talking to her about something I'm considering doing. Now, you probably heard me talk about this and maybe it's even gotten annoying at this point, but I'll explain the shadow behind this thing so you'll see it. But I moved originally, I moved to Sedona, Arizona, and I lived there for not even a year. I lived there for about a year, but I bought a house there in January of last year. I remodeled the house, I moved into the house, and I lived there for a couple months before realizing that I don't necessarily want to live full-time in Sedona. As amazing as the energy is, as much as I love how I could go for a hike whenever I want, I felt like that wasn't where I was really meant to be. So what I ended up doing is I've always felt a calling to Texas, and I know that sounds crazy because Texas is so different than Sedona, I guess the way I would assume it to be. But when I came to Austin, Texas to meet up with some friends a couple months later, I just felt such a calling to Austin. I couldn't even describe it. And within a couple months of being here, I came here, I ended up, the next time I came here, I met somebody at a dinner party that was willing to sell me their house. So I bought a house from somebody I met at a dinner party. And then I had two houses. I had a house in Sedona, had a house in Austin. And then this is what happened. So this is where I'm sure it gets annoying for you to hear this, but 'cause you've probably heard me talk about in other YouTube videos, I then bought a house here in Austin, in downtown Austin, probably one of the best locations to live in, especially if you live a very active lifestyle and you like going to amazing places to eat and all of that. So I lived in like one of the primo locations in Austin and then I was there for 3 or 4 months. Guess what happened then? I realized that I didn't wanna be in the middle of the big city, Austin. I wanted to have more space. I wanted to move. So what I did is I rented out that house. I'm renting out my sit-down house. I rent out now the house in Austin, and then I moved to the outskirts of Austin and I'm renting a house over here. Well then what I was calling my friend Julie for to find out is I feel like one of two things, either I wanna find a house that I'm in for 5 or 10 years that I can just root down because I know I'm getting ready to do live events. I'm gonna be very busy. And the thing that I mentioned to her was like, or I'm afraid that maybe this is a pattern that I have to where I just keep getting settled into a new house and then I just wanna move again. I just wanna move, I just wanna move. Here was what the advice that she gave me. And this was also kind of like her tapping into her own intuition with this. But she said what was coming up for me was she knows my childhood dynamic from 7 to 15 years old, having the ex-stepmom in my life. She said, growing up, you did not feel safe inside your own home. You didn't feel safe. So what you do is you'd be in a place, but you never were really able to just let your guard down just to relax because of the crazy abuse, the stuff that you went through from 7 to 15. And now what's happened is every time you move into a place, You live there and then you also, after a while, you don't feel safe. So then you look for the next place. So the thing is, is there's a pattern in my life of not feeling safe to where I am then looking for that in other aspects of my life, trying to like escape or trying to find something else, thinking that that's the key when really it's to create the sense of safety within myself. And also to set the intention that I find a house that I feel safe in. Now, the interesting thing about this too that I noticed is that when it comes to this whole dynamic, I can see as well how there are certain energies that maybe were on autopilot, that we absorb energy from our parents. That's not our parents' fault because our parents also went through crazy stuff. But I can see that my mom, for example, she went through a lot of crazy stuff growing up as well. And guess what? She ran away from her house when she was young. Because of the abuse that was happening in the house. So my mom didn't feel safe growing up. She probably didn't feel like that home was a home because there was so much chaos and craziness growing up. And then at the same time, I was in survival mode from 7 to 15 years old, living with my ex-stepmom and my dad and my brother. And I also didn't feel safe. So that to me though, not feeling safe has become familiar. That's the crazy thing. And the thing for me to become aware of is how can I create sense of safety within my own body? And as I begin to look at this, I can begin to see that the more I put the awareness in my body, the more I redefine what home is, and the more I set the intention to create the home within myself, but also with wherever I'm at, the more I can release those old patterns. You see, that's how the familiar works. We are addicted to familiarity because that feels safe, even though not feeling safe is what feels safe. Does that make sense? That's the crazy thing. This is why some people attract partners that are abusive physically, mentally, emotionally, because it feels safe to the past. That's one thing, that's one big roadblock that is gonna block us from actually experiencing the new version of us in 2022. That's the first one. The addiction to the familiar is the roadblock in of itself. And after the 7 to 15-year-old thing happened and I was free, I was able to have friends, I was able to eat food, I was able to do all this cool stuff in my life, guess what ended up happening? I ended up attracting people into my life that were very familiar to my ex-stepmom because somebody trying to control me felt familiar. Either an ex-girlfriend that was very jealous, that was something that was very familiar, control. On the other side of that, there was the dynamic of a manager that was trying to control me. That was always into my life until I became aware of it. So one of the things to do is to become aware of what are the patterns in your life that are keeping you stuck where you are. Some people may be used to having, it might be a familiar pattern for you to have an emotionally unavailable mom or dad. Now, are you in a relationship with someone that's emotionally unavailable? Because that might also be a familiarity block. You feel familiar with that. Sometimes people feel familiar with having somebody in their life that they need to fix. I know for a long time I was in this fix pattern where I'd attract people that I felt like I could fix and add value to because also there's payoffs to this stuff. The payoff I got from trying to fix somebody is if I could try to fix them, I could then feel worthy. I didn't feel good enough. My sense of worthy and value was dependent on how I could fix or help somebody, which also is implying that someone else is broken. So it wasn't actually really even helping them. It was enabling them to a familiar pattern where they believe they're broken. So if they could have someone that could save them and fix them, then maybe that's the key. You see how crazy these familiar patterns are? But we are literally addicted to familiar energy. And the key to this is becoming aware of it. First step, just becoming aware of it and then making the choice to be a new version of us that will help us to break out of the past patterns. Now, on the other side of this as well, we have that of this belief. A lot of times people believe that their past equals their present. It's a subconscious thing. The thing that will help you to break free is realizing that your past is just your past. It's not even, and here's the crazy thing, your past isn't even really your past because every time you remember your past, you take the memory out of the memory bank, you look at it, you change it, and you put it back in your memory bank. So by the time you've thought of something 10, 20, 100,000 times or whatever, it's changed so much that it's not even actually what happened. But your past does not, every moment you're creating yourself to be a new version of you, whether you realize it or not. It's just that because we're addicted to familiar and because we don't want to challenge our own stories and our own belief systems, we tend to stay on autopilot to create, we recreate ourselves to be the same version of ourselves over and over and over again because we're addicted to the familiar energy dynamics. We're addicted to the familiar patterns. Maybe you're addicted to not feeling chosen. So you attract people that don't choose you. Maybe you're addicted to even feeling like a victim. For a long time, I felt like crazy shit would happen to me. I felt like trapped in a 9-to-5 job I didn't love because I didn't think I had another option. But the dirty part of this is that a part of me felt very safe and comfortable in a job where somebody told me what to do and where I had to be a certain way in order to, you know, keep my job. It was like very familiar. And that's the thing for 2022 that I'd like you to become aware of. What is familiar for you that you can begin to become aware of to then break out of? So that's the first one of this process. Now, the second thing is something that came up in the Magnetic Abundance Challenge that I'm running right now. I did a coaching session where I was bringing people on and coaching them. And the crazy thing was that 2 or 3 people in a row had the same exact challenge, the same exact question. Question, and it made me realize that this is a pattern that a lot of people have. So let me share with you what happened. This woman comes on and I'm coaching her and she says, you know, I like anytime I wanna like step into my purpose or I wanna like, you know, make videos, 'cause that's what I know I wanna do, I get this big headache. I get this roaring migraine. And then I thought about it and I was like, huh, she gets a headache. Well, the body is the subconscious mind. What does it mean to get a migraine or a headache? So what I do is I go online, I'm like, you know, I'm on Zoom with them. I go online and I type in "You Can Heal Your Life." If you guys have ever read the book by Louise Hay, talks about how different elements in the body, different symptoms that come up in the body, how that affects, what the emotional energy is behind that. And I looked up migraines and guess what it said for migraines? Migraines come from a level of pressure that we create on the inside to be perfect. So then what I did is I asked her, I said, hmm, got a question for you. Do you feel like you need to be perfect? And she says, oh my God, yes. I feel like I need to be perfect. And there's so much pressure that I create for myself. And when I'm creating content, like everything has to be a certain way. And I feel like I get in my head about it. And there's this level of perfection that like I feel like I need. And then I realized, and then I was working with her and I said, question for you, another question for you. Who did you have to be growing up to feel like you were enough? Who did you have to be growing up for your parents to be happy? And you wanna know what she said? I had to be perfect. It was never good enough. I had to be a certain way, I had to look a certain way, I had to act a certain way. And if I didn't, I'd get in trouble. If I didn't get straight A's, I was in trouble. I was like, what would happen if you got a B? She's like, I wouldn't have been in good graces or my parents would not, they would've been disappointed. So imagine that from having parents growing up that were strict, we develop an internal belief system that says that I need to be perfect in order to be accepted or loved. And then what we do is we say, I'm gonna create content on YouTube. I'm gonna add value to other people but the bar is set so damn high that it has to be perfect for it to be good enough. But guess what happens? If something has to be perfect, we're creating this internal pressure and then we're feeling that energy on the inside of restrictiveness. We're feeling this sense of pressure that is also causing a level of restriction from us being our true selves. So the work then becomes, how can I undo some of the stuff growing up of childhood You know, we could say, oh, let's just, you know, they could see that normal phrase. Instead of perfection, it's progress. And that's kind of, that is part of the answer because I was showing like, you know, I've been on YouTube for years. I've made over 2,000 videos on YouTube. And I, in the beginning, was also a perfectionist. Everything has to be perfect. But then I said, fuck it. I'm just gonna make videos. And I know that I'm gonna get better with every single video. So I'd focus on the progress, but also, What I realized is I'm just gonna focus on me being passionate about it and adding value to other people. So the other part of this perfectionism thing that we might have that might be holding us back from being the new version of us in 2022 is get it out of your damn, like your damn self. And what I mean by that is when you make it more about the people you're helping than the self, you will feel expansive. If I focus on making a podcast episode that's gonna get through and it's gonna help you, you can feel that expensive energy off of me. But when I'm making a video that has to be perfect and that has to get views on the YouTube algorithm, even before I made this video on YouTube, there's a thing on YouTube. If I'm making a podcast episode, I'm very free-flowing and it's very easy. If I know it's going on YouTube, there's a part of me that's like, in the very beginning, I have to do this hook thing in the beginning for it to get views. So I have to get right into the point and it puts all this pressure on me to where I just can't express what I actually wanna express because I'm doing it also so that it gets views. Never does as well that way. When it's just authentic, it's just expressive, it's just me sharing what I'm actually wanting to share with the intention of adding value, that's different energy. If I was going to work every day, working that sales commission job selling women's shoes, and my intention was me making money, me growing my paycheck, very constrictive energy. But when I went in with the intention of adding value with spiking emotion, that created a great amount of change. Because I was wanting to more so it was collaborative versus competitive. So the thing that I'd like for you to realize is that you can start right now being the ideal version of yourself and know that it's good enough the way that it is because you're focused more on progress than perfection. And not only that, become aware of the childhood dynamics you had growing up. Who did you have to be to receive love growing up? Did you have to be perfect? Did you have strict-ass parents? Because if so, then you're probably creating internal pressure for yourself that is so damn high that it's hard for you to take action. It's hard for you to be this new version of you in 2022. And I can relate to this a lot, by the way, because I am so damn hard on myself. I'm hard on my employees, the people I hire, because I have this perfectionist mentality that I become aware of. And what I also realize this comes from too is not trusting. I don't, like, I have trouble trusting other people because no one's gonna do it as good as I'm gonna do it because this is my channel and this is my thing. But I'm learning that I have to empower other people and I have to start trusting more. Also trusting myself, but also trusting others. And that's something that you do by becoming aware of the childhood dynamics and you let go of the old meanings. Because I had someone in my life like my ex-stepmom, it's like, how can you trust people when people are obviously trying to take advantage of you? You see, but that's like an outdated thing that just happened. The past does not equal the present. This goes back to the first one as well. The past does not equal the present. So for you to be that version of you in 2022, remember that the past does not equal the present. And then also, so you don't need to live in the past 'cause you can create yourself to be new every moment 'cause you're changing anyways. And secondly, progress over perfectionism and then become aware of the childhood dynamics that you had around what it took for you to be loved growing up and start to love those aspects of yourself. Let yourself get a little sloppy. Let yourself mess up. I remember I was at work one time and this someone I worked with, she had a kid and she told me that she made her kid, her kid was like 3 or 4 years old, like drawing, inside of, you know, like crayons and stuff, coloring and coloring books. And one thing that she said is she said that it has to be perfect. Her daughter has to draw perfectly inside the lines. And if it's not, she will throw it away in front of her daughter and make her redo it. And I thought to myself, even before my spiritual awakening or anything, I was like, holy shit, you're constantly reminding your daughter that she's not good enough and that her creativity is screwed and that she has this bar that has to be perfect. And you're also conforming the shit out of your daughter "Got her. She needs to draw in the lines." Who says someone needs to draw inside the lines? Brainwash me. I'm just kidding. I won't be mean. But that's the idea. It's like, what barometer? Like, who even decides what is perfect? Is it you? Is it somebody else? Is it the audience? Like, if I was like, "Oh, this video is perfect only if the YouTube audience tells me it's perfect," then guess what? I'm putting the power outside of myself. And by her doing that with her daughter, she's not empowering her daughter to decide for herself what perfect is or good enough is. In her whole life moving forward, she's gonna feel like she's in this little box where she can't really be herself because if she gets a B, oh, you know, if she doesn't, if it's not perfect, oh. But that's what I'm saying is we gotta like loosen the barometer on ourself, on our kids, and allow for creative expression as well. It's good to have standards, but it's like, what is the standard? And we'll end up like, we can let go of those patterns from ourself by realizing it, becoming aware of it, and then making the choice and realizing that we're good enough the way that we are and focusing on progress over anything else. If you go give a talk and you're focused on, how do I look in front of everybody? Is everyone gonna like me? Blah, blah, blah. It's gonna be very restrictive energy. But if you go and say, you know what? I don't care how I look. I just wanna add value to these people. I'm gonna share what I have to share. I'm gonna expressively express myself. Guess what? People will really resonate with your energy in the second case, the second scenario, because you've made it not about you, you see? So that's the thing with that. Now, then the next one, this is something that's completely transformed my life all of 2021, and I have to share it with you because this is also something I became aware of on that coaching thing, the thing I did, I brought on Julie and we were talking about abundance And we were talking about the electromagnetic energy of the heart. And for 2022, what I highly recommend you do is you open up your heart and you focus more on being in your heart. Now, this happens with both. If you wanna attract love into your life, you have to be more in your heart, feel the energy more inside of your heart. But also if you want to elevate your life to the next level, get in alignment with your passion in a very powerful way. Now let me give a little context for this. On YouTube, I've been looking at certain people on YouTube and I have friends on YouTube. You know, I've, here is somebody, for example, there's this guy on YouTube, he's a finance guy. His name's Graham Stephan. This dude has like 3 million followers or 4 million followers on YouTube. He talks about finance and like stuff like that and he breaks it down and he has, been doing this for a couple of years now and his channel completely exploded and took off. And I mean, someone in the finance channel as well, they have the potential to be making like, side note, I mean, they can make like $200,000, $300,000, $400,000, like $200,000 a month on just Google AdSense, which is crazy to me, but not really. I mean, I guess just the way it is, but there's like this focus that I've had where I'm like, huh, looking at these other people that really double down on YouTube and they do super well. And I'm like, huh, You know, I used to be really passionate about YouTube back in 2017, 2018, but I'm not as passionate on YouTube as I used to be. Now here's the thing, Graham Stephan, some other people that I watch on YouTube, they crush it. They do so well. They love it. They love, you look at MrBeast on YouTube, he is obsessed with finding out videos that do well. He's obsessed with the algorithm. That's all he studies. Everyone on his team is studying the algorithm. He's just looking at thumbnails. He's like figuring things out. He loves it. When I was really good at YouTube and really focused on YouTube, that's also what I was like super passionate about. Hooks, the thumbnail was everything. And I was so fa— I was like super passionate about all that. And the thing with Graham is that he loves YouTube. That's his baby. That's his thing. He keeps this grind going. He's really good at it. He loves it. And therefore he does extremely well at it. At the same time, I'm looking at myself and I'm like, why am I not as passionate about making videos anymore? And I realize that it's not necessarily my passion just to focus on the algorithm and all of these things. My passion is actually more so live events, performing. It's like being in front of people. It's engagement, it's collaborative, it's different. My intentions have changed. And that's another thing that I was talking to Julie about on this call in front of like with 500 people that were doing this live call. I look at people at my old job that I used to sell women's shoes. There were these two people, Jeannie and Artie, these two people, they were the top salesperson when I worked at Barney's New York. Guess what? They loved selling women's shoes. They loved it. One of them was like an Instagram person that would just go on Instagram, post shoes and sell a whole bunch. He loved his Instagram stuff and he loved selling shoes and he did the best. And then you had Jeannie as well, loved selling shoes. She was very good at it. She's passionate about it. It was like her one thing. She did amazing. I would force myself and I did have moments where like I would do really well and stuff, but I just was trying to force something that wasn't resonating, that wasn't actually from my heart, something I was passionate about. So don't judge yourself against other people that might be doing what they love when it might not be what you love, but also get inside your heart and realize, follow that thread. Of being in your heart, because I'm realizing for myself that for me to get to the next level, it's not about me just keep trying to hammer it out on YouTube, even though I'll continue to make these podcast episodes and put them on YouTube and all that. But I'm realizing that until I start doing the live stuff, the live events, that's me more inside of my heart. That's me, I wanna perform and I wanna perform with people. It's called performance. I just had a business strategy session recently and it's called, I'm a digital performer. Similar to like, you know, Joe Dispenza, Tony, like they're not just focused on making courses and stuff. You know, they like to get their message out there and they like to be live. And like, that's what I know I'm passionate about. So like, that's the key for 2022 is like, I have to follow that and not just do what I think I should be doing. So that's what's really changing the bar for me is realizing what do I really want to be doing? How can I follow my heart and how can I be more vulnerable? I'm being vulnerable with all of you right now. If you guys like this episode of this video, can you like it on YouTube whatever. And let me know if you like the vulnerability, because the vulnerability I think is the cure to really opening your heart. When I opened my heart back at the beginning of the year and I started being vulnerable and I started expressing my true desires, even when it came to dating, that's when I met Heather. That happened because I was opening up my heart and I was releasing the shame from childhood and the shame and the belief that I'm not good enough. The cutting the addiction of familiar patterns of, believing I'm not good enough and getting constant feelings of rejectiveness. So opening your heart and making the choice to open your heart by being vulnerable is gonna be the cure to 2022, you wiring in a new version of you. And maybe that means getting really honest with yourself. Maybe you hate your job. Maybe you're not passionate about it. Maybe you wanna be doing what you love. And when you're doing what you love, your heart will activate and literally the electromagnetic energy of your heart goes miles. Away from your body. The electromagnetic energy of your head just goes feet beyond your body. Get in your heart for 2022 and realize that if you're not following your passion, then you're gonna have to work extremely hard for things to be successful because you're working with only the electromagnetic energy of your head. If you work and you're coming from your heart, you will do much less and get much more. If you're working from your head, you will do a lot and get a little because you're not working with the energy dynamics of your full energy field. So for that, I recommend you open up your heart. Now, the thing, the next thing I wanna talk about is the roadblock to you becoming this new version of you is understanding sabotage. Sabotage and how it literally comes to as well, my shadow work integration coach always talks about this, but it comes from your, Self-sabotage is our body's addiction to the familiar. That's what self-sabotage is. When we sabotage ourselves, it's we're fighting, we're energetically fighting to stay the same, even if the same equals pain. There's this like almost this rat race that I feel like I grind myself into where I have to work really hard. I have to make videos, I have to do this, I have to do that. It's almost like there's a part of me that's sabotaging myself from this next thing of me just doing events. Because it feels familiar and I feel safe in the container of my online business of just making videos and just staying on the grind and always having to work, work, work, work, work. And that's a form of self-sabotage because instead of just trusting and stepping into this new version of me that is more aligned, it's like I feel safe in just doing what I've always done to get the results I've always got. And there's also a book on this called "The Big Leap." Talks about the upper limit problem. But the thing is, is we have this like upper limit. When we start feeling emotions beyond that, we start to catch ourselves say, am I worthy of this? Do I deserve this? So realize though that this also gets all the way down to the body. How do you feel inside of your body? Can you let yourself be in what's called your zone of genius? You doing what you love. Can you let somebody love you? That was a thing too when I met Heather was, I wasn't used to having somebody that was like so nurturing and so affectionate that I literally would question myself. But it was so unfamiliar for me to feel somebody that felt that way that it was like, I felt like I didn't deserve it. You know, I had to like rewire myself and I had to have courage to step into a part of myself to know that I am worthy of something and to let those emotions become the new norm, to become familiar. So there's many different aspects of your life that you can in 2022 allow yourself to absorb a new version of yourself and to also be this new version of you. Have the courage to step into the vulnerability. Have the courage to create safety in the inside of your body from the inside out. Just like I'll be creating safety. And the other form of the self-sabotage is me going to a new house and then feeling, oh, like it doesn't feel safe. Because I'm not creating the sense of safety on the inside. So stepping into this new alignment, like it may require you to step outside of your comfort zone, but remember the comfort zone is just what's familiar.
