Secrets to Letting go of an Ex/past relationships, Drugs, and Outcome that will make you Free AF

In this solo YouTube episode Aaron Doughty answers Instagram‑submitted questions about how to let go of a wide range of attachments—from caring about others’ opinions, to ex‑partners, to substance use. He frames letting go as a vibration‑raising practice that unlocks manifestation, happiness, and abundance. Aaron shares personal stories: recurring dreams about still working at Barneys that reveal a lingering 9‑to‑5 mindset; his childhood dynamics that created anxious‑avoidant attachment patterns; his experience with ADHD, stopping Adderall, quitting cannabis, and how meditation helped him release the associated shame. He explains how meaning‑making fuels attachment, describes the process of identifying and releasing limiting beliefs (e.g., “I’m broken,” “I’m unworthy”), and offers concrete steps: recognize the payoff of the attachment, shift focus to self‑worth, change the internal narrative, and practice forgiveness and meditation. Aaron also warns about Instagram impersonators and invites viewers to request more content. The overall message is that letting go is a conscious choice that raises one’s vibrational frequency, allowing the flow of abundance and new opportunities.

In this episode, I'm going to be sharing with you different questions that people have from Instagram on how to let go of miscellaneous little things, whether it's caring what people think of me, past relationships, Cheetos, someone wrote, random-ass trinkets that inherently suck, but I think I'll need one single for one single task later. Some of these are funny, but some of these I'm going to be sharing with you pretty much just how to let go of all these different things and why letting go Vibration really is the key to manifestation in general, not just manifestation, but like happiness and feeling good. And remember this one idea, your vibration is naturally high. Naturally, that's who you are, is feeling love, joy, peace as your natural set point. The only reason we don't feel that as our natural state of being is because we are attached to different perspectives, to different beliefs, to different labels, to different people that keep us in the lower vibrational states of consciousness. And remember, the higher your vibration is, the easier things happen in your life. The more flow happens, the more synchronicity happens. And my life has gotten extraordinarily easy over the last 2 or 3 years from applying what I'm going to share with you in this video. And you'll also notice that after you watch this video, listen to this podcast, you are going to feel and know certainly that letting go is easy, much easier than you've been thinking it is. Now remember, our beliefs create our reality. If we believe that letting go is hard, that's what makes letting go hard. If we believe that if we let go, we're then going to block, or if we believe If we believe we're gonna let go, like letting go of what we want, letting go of desire means that we're like letting go of the vision, then we're not gonna let go. If we believe that letting go is going into the unknown and the unknown equals scary, it's harder to let go. So these are little meanings, things we're gonna become aware of in this episode that are gonna improve your relationships, your dating life, or your relationships that you already have. It's gonna help you magnetize and help you be in a state of consciousness to where abundance flows to you very easily. Because when you let go of these things, that's what naturally happens. Now, one interesting thing I wanted to share was last night I had a dream and, you know, every morning I wake up, I remember my dreams for the first like 10, 15 seconds. And then right after that, I lose, I like don't remember my dreams normally. I have a meditation like spot in my closet that I go to. And there's this journal that I write all my dreams that I can remember by the time I get to my meditation thing. And I write down my dreams. And I believe our dreams are in a way like symbolic representations of what we're experiencing in life or certain patterns that we're working through. But I have this one recurring dream that I have every, I have it probably once every month or every 3 weeks. And it's this one dream where like last night, okay, I was dreaming, I was in some form of Barney's New York where I used to work selling women's shoes. And I'm in this, I'm like there, it's not really there, but I know that that's the representation of it. Some of my dreams become a little bit more abstract and I'm working there and there's this, the manager there was like this narcissistic dude, this pattern with narcissism that I've been shedding, this is like 3, 4 years ago when I had that 9 to 5 job. But there was this narcissistic dude that was the manager and he was very controlling, very manipulative. And just had negative energy. He actually wasn't that bad, but he had very negative energy and was very condescending. I remember one time I got pulled into the office and I just got talked down to so bad because I was on my phone in the back stockroom. I was on my phone and there was like camera of it. But there was still another sales employee on the sales floor taking care of the customers and it's like dead. Like retail, working in the retail, like, you know, women's shoes, there'd be hours with not one customer. So we'd get bored. So we'd take turns being on the sales floor. But anyways, I got pulled up to the office, I got in a whole bunch of trouble and they wanted me to watch a video for 5 minutes of me on my phone. And I'm like, after a minute, I'm like, I get the point, I won't be on my phone. They're like, no, we want you to really sink in. And anyways, it's kind of besides the point, but this is the guy that was in the dream and I got in trouble for doing something and I thought I was gonna get fired and I didn't really wanna get fired. But what happened is I was given 3 things that I have to do to not get fired. If I didn't do them, then I got fired. And there were 3 things that I knew for sure I wouldn't do. And then I always have this realization in that moment that I'm still working at Barneys New York when I've created all the abundance that I have in my life. It was like, oh, you've made this much money in the last year. Why are you still at Barney's New York? And that was, it's always been, it's a recurring dream I have where there's like a parallel reality version of me that's still working my 9 to 5 job selling women's shoes. And I'm like, why am I still there? I know I'm a YouTuber now. I'm in this new identity. And what do you guys think it means? I don't know. If you guys have any ideas of what that means, let me know. But what I think it means and that the interpretation that I give it is there's still a mentality that I have around working hard that I believe I have to live in accordance to for me to be successful. Like, I think it's a reflection of my own ability to really let go. You know, now that I'm making these videos and I'm putting out like 3 videos a week instead of the 7 videos a week, I got a lot of, I think, pleasure from, or I got a lot of payoff for making 7 videos a week on YouTube for 2 or 3 years straight. I made so many videos and I was so passionate about it, but at the same time, it was so much work that like, I don't have to keep having that mentality. And there's a part of me that's letting go of this, like you always have to be creating content and grinding things out. And like, I've made 2,000 videos on YouTube and it's challenging to always come up with new topics all the time when I feel like I pretty much said most of what would be said on YouTube or that like I wanna share. So now I'm moving more into doing live events, interacting with people, but there's like letting go sometimes is a little bit scary of those things. So anyways, this is like kind of a representation of a dream of like something that is showing me something that is kind of challenging for me to let go of. I remember, you know, moving into this new house. I'm in Austin now and I moved into this new house and for a whole week I was moving like nonstop, like nonstop. I had like people over at the house. I had a handyman that was constantly putting up stuff around the house so I could get set up here. And I remember after 4 or 5 days of this, I'm thinking to myself, I need to make content. If I don't make content, the whole world will explode. I feel like this pressure to constantly be creating. I'm like, can I give myself permission to like not make videos for a while? Like I'm ahead like 2 or 3 weeks on YouTube so I can afford not to, but like there's this guilty thing to where I feel like if I don't, maybe I'm not worthy. So in your life, have you ever felt in a similar way like you put, not necessarily unnecessary pressure. I think some pressure is good sometimes. Like back in 2017, when I decided to make daily videos on YouTube, that really helped me to become a full-time YouTuber. I had to let go of a lot too. I had to let go of viewing myself as the 9-to-5 job goer. I had to let go of the belief as well that I wasn't worthy of doing this, that like people aren't gonna listen to me. Am I even credible? I don't have a, a life coaching degree. I don't have a degree in anything. I went to college for a couple years, but realized it wasn't what I was passionate about. They didn't teach what I was really passionate about. I mean, maybe they do teach metaphysics and stuff like that, but I didn't see that. So I just, you know, I realized that the most successful person in my family was my uncle who passed away, but my uncle had like zero school, zero education, but he was a business owner. He like set up the convention centers and stuff like that. And I was like, oh, this person's that successful. I don't need it. It's not like you need the degree to be successful, that successful. So I've always kind of had that mentality. But when it comes to letting go, what I recently did is I went through all my teachings and I've been doing this for a couple different reasons, but I'm gonna be doing live events coming up soon. I was like looking at my teachings like, what is the one common denominator out of 2,000 YouTube videos, out of everything that I've shared, what is the one common denominator that has like really transformed my life the most? And I realized that when I had ADHD back in 2012 and I completely stopped taking Adderall and I started to like meditate, I had to let go of the belief that I had ADHD. And then that was the key to me then like becoming more zen and meditation. And when I was attracting women into my life that were trying to control me, that represented my ex-stepmom. So from 7 to 15 years old, the whole ex-stepmom thing, my dad divorced her when I was 15. I kept attracting women into my life that were trying to control me. I realized that that was a pattern when I began meditating. I became aware that I still had a lot of unresolved anger and energy towards my ex-stepmom, and therefore I kept attracting into my life When I forgave her and I let that go, my whole entire life transformed. And the 2017 thing, when I started making daily videos, I had to let go of the perspectives and the beliefs that I couldn't do it for me to then really be this full-time YouTuber Aaron, and within 6 months put in my 2 weeks at that job that apparently in a parallel reality, I'm still working and I'm like, Aaron, you don't have to be here anymore. Don't you know you're a full-time YouTuber? What if like also, what if there's like these, in 2017, in February 2017, I was walking through the hallway and going, I was living at my dad's house and I was working that 9 to 5 job and I had this download that if you make a video a day, your life will transform in a year. And I feel like that was almost from my future self. It was like a message from my future self that was telling me, if you make daily videos, It's like your life's gonna change. What if what I'm doing in my dream state right now is I'm reaching out to like the past, there's like a past version of Aaron that's just like desperately working that 9 to 5 job. It's like, wait, do I still have to be here? And I'm like trying to like give them symbol, like you don't have to be there, dude. You're so much, you could be doing so much more cool stuff that you actually like doing, you know? I don't know, but it could be a timeline thing as well. But like letting go even like in relationship dynamics, right? I've had challenges in the past of letting go of past partners. And it's like, I've learned so much from letting go. And the key to all of this stuff is letting go. The more I have let go, the more I have allowed in. And when you focus on the letting go, you make room for the new things to come in. This really is the key. And when you let go as well, it's very simple mechanism, letting go is a choice that we make to let something go that normally we were getting some type of payoff from. The payoff could be positive or negative, but the payoff is there and that's why we continue to do it. And there's reasons to why we attach to things. Attachment is the root of all suffering. So what I wanna do now is I wanna share with you some of the things I went on Instagram and my Instagram, by the way, now it used to be Aaron_Doughty44, it is now AaronDoughty44. 4. I'm trying to eventually get Aaron Doughty, but Aaron Doughty 44. Beware of scammers. There's a lot of people on Instagram that are on Instagram. There's people that will pretend to be me and scam people for like some type of psychic reading or something like that, which I've never done in my life. I don't do readings or especially psychic readings, but just be aware of that. Many of you may have gotten messages or see that and just report that account as spam anyways, but that's one reason I changed. I finally got my profile AaronDoughty44 because then it's a little bit less confusing, a little bit more. So let's see, I asked, what are you having trouble letting go of? All right, so I'm gonna kind of scroll through. I've got, whew, so much. So one of the things that people say is, let's see, "People are my ex." That's one of the most common ones. Now, how do you let go of an ex? Well, first off, this, for me, letting go of ex-girlfriends or past relationships, it's been probably some of the most challenging things that I've been through in my life, to be honest with you. It's like you may know that like something, has run its course. You may be with like people that aren't, you know, there's a lot of times in dynamics, especially if you study like anxious and avoidant attachment styles, which are both very common attachment styles. Anxious is someone that leans in and that is a little bit more needy. And avoidant is somebody that like is pushing away and like wants love, but at the same time is scared of it. They don't trust. And it becomes this dynamic of like push, pull, push, pull. In my own life, one of the things that I realized I was doing is I was trying to control and force certain relationships to work. And it was a very harsh wake-up call when I was realizing, okay, maybe there's somebody that it's not meant to be or somebody that doesn't feel the same way or something like that. And I think there's certain childhood dynamics that may be active. For example, if you ever had an emotionally unavailable parent growing up, you might find yourself attracting emotionally unavailable people or people that really can't choose you. And a lot of times that energy may feel very familiar and it's like, oh, this feels very deep or it feels like a certain way, but in actuality, it feels familiar from the childhood dynamics of having somebody that maybe wasn't emotionally there or emotionally present. So one of the things that makes it easier to let go is realizing that first off, it's one of the only things, like a lot of times people reach out to me and say, how do you get an ex back? And I have old YouTube videos where people would ask that all the time. How do I get an ex back? The thing with getting an ex back is if that's your focus, you're putting energy and projecting energy at them, they can feel that. And anybody you put on a pedestal is gonna feel that energy and it's gonna push it away. So the way that you get your ex back is you let go. You completely let go from wanting. You let go from the desire. You let go from trying and you focus more on self. You focus more on being in your own frame, being in your own reality. These are all things that as you do, it begins to change your energy dynamic. Now, what you wanna do though is you wanna look at, Why are you attached to your ex? Now realize that everything in our reality is based on meaning. It's the meaning that we give things. Now, yes, you could have a deep connection and sometimes deep can also be familiar connection, but the things that makes it hard to let go is like this what-if mentality where we're like, what if everything could work out? And we're afraid, many times people are afraid to let go of their ex because they're afraid if they let go of their ex, they're letting go of their one chance of having love. Not knowing that that attachment is what's keeping that resistance alive. So the thing that you want to become aware of with this, first off, is the awareness that the meaning you're giving to this person, everything in life has no built-in meaning other than the meaning we give it. The meaning you're giving to this person is identification. You're identifying and you're seeing them as a part of your internal happiness. Really the validation, the love, the happiness can only be given from within. And when you start realizing that, you start to say, wait, the thing I've been seeking in this person, I can give to myself. And if you wanna trace this back even deeper, I'll be honest with you guys with what I went through with this is I realized that me attracting emotionally unavailable people, it was a reflection of my own childhood. Because when I was 1 or 2, you know, my parents did the best they could with where they were and they're amazing parents now. And they were even when I was a kid, but they just, they had their own stuff going on. And my mom, she was going through her dad passing away. So I think she was going through a lot. She told me she lost like 20 pounds when I was young. I was like 1 or 2 years old when my mom's dad passed away. And she had a lot of like owners, a lot of stuff in the family that was like trauma and stuff that was like unresolved as well. When I was 1 year old, my mom was like in her own head. And I remember, I don't remember this, but I imagine that I felt anxious, like there's something wrong. There's something wrong with me, there's something wrong with mom. What can I do to change? And I think that that may have been a part of the stem of like becoming a people pleaser. So the thing that I realized with that, or the big epiphany that I had, was there was a level of shame that was involved with my relationship dynamics. Shame is a vibration of I'm broken. It's a belief that says I'm broken. There's something wrong with me. And because I felt like there was something wrong with me, I was attracting people into my life that I thought if I could get them to love me and I could fix them, then I'd be worthy. In a way, I was trying to fix people the same way that maybe I felt like if I could fix my mom when I was a baby or when I was 1 or 2 years old, that then I'd get that love and nurturing and support that I wanted. And the biggest key for me was realizing that the shame, the belief I'm broken, that I'm not broken. It was realizing that my mom's stuff was her stuff, not mine. It was realizing that my mom's emotional unavailability when I was 1 or 2 years old because her dad passed away had nothing to do with me. That my parents' divorce when I was 5 years old had nothing to do with me. But as kids, we're little narcissists. We literally think everything revolves around us. So because of that, what happened is I was thinking that all of this stuff revolves, you know, all of this stuff is because of me and I felt unworthy. I think as well, my brother was born when I was 3 years old and my brother had a lot of health complications and stuff and he got a lot of attention. So the attention shifted from me to him and I felt alone. I felt like maybe I wasn't worthy. And I can see how I then attracted people in my life to reflect back to me my own level of, unworthiness, maybe not being chosen. I was talking to a buddy the other day who has like a pattern where he possibly may be being cheated on. He has ex-girlfriends that cheated on him. And the thing that was coming to my mind for that is like, there's probably some childhood trauma there, some childhood experience where maybe you weren't chosen, maybe there was a level of abandonment, but there's a belief there that says, I'm not worthy. There's a belief there that says, something to do with people, a story around people leave me, I'm not worthy, or I have to be different in order to be loved. Maybe a level of insecurity that came with that. And I could see that this has also been a theme of my own life of letting go of that and becoming aware of that. But the biggest transformation I made is I realized that all my outer reality was a reflection and is a reflection of my internal belief system about who I am and what I deserve. And I believed I was broken. I believed there was something wrong with me. And I believed that because I identified with what my mom was going through. And then I was also identifying with how it was working out with an ex. Oh, things aren't working out. Maybe they're not choosing me because I'm not good enough. I'm not worthy. But what I eventually realized is this has nothing to do with me, just like it had nothing to do with my mom, with me and with my mom. That was my mom's stuff she's dealing with. It was my ex's stuff she was dealing with. You see, like, there's a pattern that you'll experience in your relationships. And when you boil it down to your relationship to self and you understand your childhood dynamics, that's the key to healing. Because then very quickly after I realized my own sense of worthiness, my own sense of self-worth, guess what happened? I started to feel worthy. I started dating. I had all these opportunities because I was in a new abundant state. I realized my own sense of self-worth and I was letting go. Letting go is the key to letting go. I can't tell you how many people I know that have maybe broken up with an ex or had been broken up with. And then they're thinking about them, they're thinking about them, thinking about them, they're causing resistance. And then all of a sudden they let that person go. And within a week of letting them go, guess what happens? That other person comes back or is, you know. This reminds me of back in high school. One of the first girlfriends I ever had, actually the first girlfriend I ever had, I remember that we were together for about 6 months. And what happened is, is she ended up breaking up with me, 'cause you know, I'm unworthy and everything and I'm broken and who would wanna be with me? That was the belief system. I believe that was like the pattern. And then what happened is I ended up starting, I eventually, at first it was hard. I remember I did crazy shit. I called her, like, she wasn't, we were still like friends kind of dating. I remember calling her and she wasn't answering. So I would like call her from a blocked phone number, a private phone number to see if like she was just ignoring me. And then she did answer. So then I knew she was. And it was like this weird anxious attachment style bullshit. But what eventually happened is I moved on and I was really awkward all through, junior high school, like I was awkward all through school because from 7 to 15 years old, I wasn't allowed to have friends. I was normally locked outside with my brother. We were doing yard work. We got a bowl of cereal in the morning, TV dinner at night. We didn't have any freedom. We had to earn going to school activities. We'd have to tell our friends no if they ever wanted to hang out. You know, we didn't really have any friends in school 'cause we weren't allowed to really do anything outside of school. But what happened is, is all of a sudden, my dad divorced my ex-stepmom. When I was 15, I had all this freedom. So I was also, my dad is a firefighter, he's a fire investigator, but he's a firefighter. So there's this thing with firefighters where they want their kids to like look and appear a certain way. Maybe that's also not just a firefighter thing, but I remember that I had to comb my hair to the side, I had to tuck in my shirt, do all these nerdy things. So all of a sudden I'm allowed to look the way I want. I grew out my hair, did the whole like Jesse McCartney thing where you put like frosted tips in it and shit. All of a sudden I go to school, and I'm starting to get all this attention from chicks, my brother and I both. And what happened is we go back to school like after summer break, after her and I broke up, and all of a sudden I'm getting all this attention. People are talking about me and my brother. And guess what? She then starts becoming interested again. But then guess what happens? I finally completely let go of her and I start dating this other girl who is, who ironically enough, I don't know how much of this do I share? She had a boyfriend, but yet I was like dating her even though she had a, I don't know, it was this tricky thing. I was young, you know what I mean? But so she also in a way wasn't choosing me in a weird way. But what happened is, is I started getting attention from this person. And then what happened is I really let go of that ex. And then all of a sudden within like a week or two, she's like calling me crying, trying to get back together with me. It's a real energy pattern that does exist. When you really let go of the energetic cords, you let go of that energy, that's like the best chance you have at that. But by then, by the time you do the inner work, you may realize you don't even want that anyways because you move beyond that energy. And there's many times I've been like coaching friends that are going through breakup stuff. I'm like, dude, you got, once you let them go, they feel free and then they're more attractive, they're more in their own frame. So one of the best things you can do is stop putting the attention on them and start putting it on you. Start focusing on your own energy. Focus on like your own frame, you leading in your life, your own relationship with self. Now, what are you gonna have to let go of? You have to let go of a belief that says you're unworthy, a belief that says you're broken. You have to let go of the story that that person is like the only one for you. You're gonna have to let go of these stories and these things that are keeping you in that mentality because those stories will keep that being reflected back to you. All the outer reality is is a reflection of the inner reality. And realize that there's like 7 billion people out there in the world and that by just thinking, oh, this one thing, this one familiar energetic pattern that I experienced in childhood that now I believe is like, you know, that I'm trying to force to work. Remember, most things that you try to force aren't gonna work out. It's more about allowing what's authentic. So that's how you let go. That's my take on that is instead of focusing on them and trying to change them, focus on the self, focus on being in your own frame, focus on like, you know, it's all based on meaning. What we're afraid to let go of when we're afraid of letting go of an ex is meaning. We've given something a meaning in the past. Now that meaning, has changed or it's still, we're trying to hold onto the same meaning that we gave to someone that may be in a completely different state and maybe that's not working out. And we're afraid to let go of the meaning because we're afraid that if we let go of that meaning, then we're not worthy, we're not ever gonna find that meaning. Now here's the funny thing. A lot of times when people go through breakups, it's like, okay, go and hang out with your friends, go find a new hobby, which means, hey, go find new meaning. Go create new meaning with your friends and focus on that meaning. Focus on that area of your life. I know when I started letting go and started focusing on myself, I got really in shape. I was getting overweight because I was doing all the shadow work. But this is something that every one of you could become aware of, is what is your energy around this? And realize that when you put it back to self, you can then focus on your own meaning. What is your purpose? Purpose is meaning of life, right? The meaning of why you're here is for that. So let's see, let's scroll. And someone says crystal meth, legitimate thing that you might have to let go of. Well, I'm not a doctor and I don't, I mean, I used to take Adderall, which in a way is like legal meth, I guess. It's not, I said that, I don't know, is it? It's meth, it's the legal prescription form of that, but you feel very focused and stuff like that. I ended up going through withdrawals with that. You know, I was prescribed it for having ADHD, worked my 9 to 5 job. I had to let go of the belief in the self-image that I, there's something, once again, shame, there's something wrong with me. I would go to work and there'd be people, what happened at my work, I worked at Nordstrom's, there was one manager that was starting a rumor about me. It's like high school living, working at like Nordstrom's or Barney's New York is like living at a high school. Probably working anywhere in corporate is like that, right? Or any type of job where there's like many people like that. I have a lot of energy naturally. I used to even have more ungrounded energy. Like I had more energy that was very ungrounded. I'd go to work, I'd be talking to customers, I'd be helping a lot of different people. And people would always ask me, why do you have so much energy? What's wrong with you? Why are you like that? I'd be like, oh, maybe there's just be something. I was like, ah, you know, maybe there's something. But deep down I was like, maybe there's something wrong with me. I don't know. Why am I so different? It could be the whole ADHD thing, right? One of the managers there, when I was, I think it was before I got on Adderall or anything, but I just had a lot of energy, right? One of the managers there was talking to other managers at a little meeting or whatever for lunch and said, you know, I think Aaron's on cocaine. Like, and then I had all these, some of these assistant managers are my friends and they're like, hey, this person's saying that you're on cocaine and she thinks you're on cocaine and she's telling other people that. I just want you to know about it. And I was like, what? So I remember what I did is I took this manager, I said, "Hey, I wanna talk to you." I went outside and I said, "You've told people that you believe I'm on cocaine, you're spreading this rumor, blah, blah, blah. If you don't tell everybody," I said, "I've never done cocaine in my life. If you don't tell everybody that you told that to that it's not true, I'm gonna go up to HR." That's what I said. And she ended up telling her, and guess what she ended up doing too? She helped me get out of her department into salon shoes, which is a higher paying department because she didn't want me, I guess it was a threat to her. Ended up working out really well in my favor standing up to someone like that, you know? People literally thought I was on drugs when I was just having ADHD. So there's a level of shame that came with that. But what eventually I did is I used awareness. I began meditating. I came across the meditation. A lot of times we do drugs and we do substances and stuff because there's something that we feel like we're missing on the inside. And it's a way of changing our state and escaping a way that we feel instantaneously. Like if you feel, negative emotion, like I used to smoke a lot of cannabis and because I was doing the Adderall, which is the prescription drug for ADHD, the side effects are you don't eat very much, you don't sleep very much. At nighttime, I'd smoke a lot of cannabis and that was my balance. But I remember that it was a way that when I smoked, immediately would change my state. And what eventually I learned though is meditation. I came across the research on it, just decided to try to do it. At first, it was kind of weird. but then I started observing my thoughts and I felt this space, this stillness. Instead of trying to control my thoughts, I started observing my thoughts. And very quickly, my whole entire life, I, I began to feel completely different about myself. I became aware of a lot of the stories I had, the beliefs I had. I became aware of even that I kept attracting people like my ex-stepmom in my life. That was like a huge epiphany. Like, oh, Julie, this manager at Nordstrom's is like the same person as my ex-stepmom. And she was my manager for years and we couldn't get her fired because she was protected by HR, even though she did crazy things. She'd make people cry, she talked down to them, super crazy narcissistic energy. But guess what? Within 2 weeks of meditating and forgiving my ex-stepmom and doing this work and meditation, I stopped taking Adderall. I, within like a month after that, quit smoking cannabis. I started to feel completely different about myself. I started to feel high a majority of the time. I believe that feeling high is our natural set point. And when we clear the mind clutter and we start processing the stuff of our past, we can get to that state. And I remember feeling so high that I was like, I hope this feeling never goes away. Never really went away. It just became my natural set point. Now I'm not saying that I'm always in that high. There's times I get frustrated. It's just that my natural base point is higher now than it used to be. But the key was letting go. And once I let go of the anger towards my ex-stepmom, that manager got fired within 2 weeks for something stupid too, for an email she sent. When there's other things that were way worse that she didn't get fired for 'cause she was protected. It was crazy how quickly the outer reality changes when we do that. But I used to feel a lot of emptiness. I was using that, it's codependency is really what I think a lot of drugs is. It's a codependency. And the key to like cutting that codependency is putting the energy back in self and bringing the awareness back inside your own body. Feeling safe in your own body and processing the stuff that comes up. And when you start also living in accordance to your spiritual values, like your purpose, and you start finding deeper meaning in life, that's a lot of times when you won't feel called to do the drugs. I hear Russell Brand talk about this sometimes, like how he kicked his heroin addiction, you know? And I know other people that have like kicked heroin and stuff like that from back in the day. And it's like, once they found their deeper purpose or they went through a spiritual awakening or something, it tends to be a very powerful way of mitigating that meaning, that energy. So I imagine that it's gonna have to do with doing some soul searching, with becoming aware and really having an honest look at yourself. I'm like, what is the AA thing? It's like one of the first steps is like the acknowledgement, right? Like the awareness, oh hey, this is something I'm doing a lot and realizing it's a choice. So these are all different ways.
