The #1 Brain Technique to Attract What You Want (This Changed My Life)

In this video Aaron Doughty explains that the most powerful method for manifesting desired outcomes is "priming" the brain during the first 20 minutes after waking. He describes how the subconscious mind operates on autopilot, forming neuro‑associations that guide perception and behavior. By deliberately shaping those associations—through a brief meditation that first observes breath, then visualizes desired emotions and outcomes, and finally engages with Tony Robbins' "Transformative Vocabulary"—the practitioner can steer attention toward positive experiences and reduce reactive patterns. Doughty contrasts priming with traditional affirmations, arguing that affirmations can create resistance when they conflict with existing beliefs, whereas priming gently guides the brain’s synaptic pathways. He also explains the brain‑wave transition from delta to beta upon waking, noting this window as the most receptive period for subconscious programming. Practical steps, examples of how early media consumption can bias perception, and a personal morning routine are provided, concluding with a call to adopt priming for more authentic, cause‑driven living.

Welcome back to another video. My name is Aaron and I help people expand their consciousness. Now in this video, I'll be sharing with you the number one brain technique that we can use to attract what we want in our life. Now with this process, this is going to be something that is much more powerful than affirmations, and I'll explain the contrast here in a minute of how they both influence us. And I'm going to be explaining this with the context of understanding the subconscious mind that we have, how most of what we experience is on autopilot, and when we learn how to influence the subconscious mind, that's when we really begin to make profound changes in our life. So as I always say, I always say that we don't necessarily attract that which we want, but we always get a reflection of who we are being. Who we're being is a compilation of our beliefs about what we believe to to be true is the emotions that we feel, the actions that we take, and those all go into the complete kit of who we are being in the present moment. So when it comes to understanding this, it's also about understanding the subconscious mind and how we influence the subconscious mind. And let's look at what this powerful technique is. Now it has to do with understanding that the way our brain works is our brain is constantly processing data and it's making what is called new associations to different things. So what it does is it takes certain ideas and it connects them to other ideas in our mind of the models for the way we see the world, and it's linking it in based upon those associations that we make. Now, if I were to name maybe 5 different things that were to be yellow and I were to put these in words on the screen right here, what I could then do is is a couple minutes later ask you what kind of fruit are you thinking of, and most likely you would be thinking of something that was yellow. So it could be a lemon or it could be a banana. Now, the way that our brain works is that those neurosynaptic connections that we're making in our brain, those pathways will always take the path of least resistance, and therefore it will always focus on and find things that are relevant to those neuroassociations. Now, with that being said, the number one brain technique that we can use to create what we want in our life is what is called priming. The ability to prime our brain so that then we look for and are focused on certain things that are in alignment with what we want to focus on. Now, a lot of times when we go out into the world, we are reacting to the stimulus of what we are experiencing, and instead of reacting, the ability that we have with priming is being able to then consciously choose what we focus on and the most powerful time to do this is in the 20 minutes that we wake up every single morning. Now let me explain to you my morning routine on how it used to be back in the past and how it is today. Now back in the past, I would wake up in the morning at whatever time I'd wake up and what I would do is the first like maybe 20, 30 minutes of my day, I would spend it either online, whether it be on YouTube or television, or I would be in social media. I would be creating, I would be consuming content in whatever way I could. Maybe a lot of times I'd be even in bed looking at my phone. Now what happened was, is as I would do that and go through and do the first like 10 minutes of my day doing that, what I found was that if I were to read a news story or I were to put on the television and watch a certain commercial and I were to then go throughout my day, it's like my brain would pick out the neuroassociations that were relevant for whatever that happened in the first 10 minutes of my day. So for example, if you were to go on and wake up in the morning and watch the news and you were to hear about some type of violent act that got committed or murder or whatever it is, and you were to look at that headline, you were to pay attention to it, and then what would happen is then maybe an hour later or 20 or 30 minutes later, you get in social media and you're scrolling through and looking at things on Facebook. Your brain is more likely to pay attention to the posts that were relevant to those emotional trigger words or to the priming that happened from those first 20 minutes that you woke up. So if on the other side of that you were focused on positive things, that's when you would then see more of it. So rather than seeing maybe the violence and murder stories that on the Facebook feed, you would see something about kittens or something that was like more positive. And now let me share with you how I prime my day now. Now I wake up the first 20 minutes of my day, I meditate. Now the first 10 minutes of that meditation is simply me observing my breath, observing the thoughts that come into my head, not trying to control my thoughts whatsoever. And as I then do that, I bring the awareness out of my head and into my body. It allows me to get more present to the moment, and it allows me also to not identify with my thoughts. Now, how does that prime my day? Well, as I go throughout my day, what I find is I'm no longer reacting to the things that happen. I'm able to respond. I'm able to not have so much attachment. I'm able to really observe it and then respond versus just automatically and the autopilot mind and reacting. Now the next 10 minutes of my meditation, what I'll do after I observe is I will focus on the emotions I want to feel throughout the day, the outcome. So maybe a couple to-do lists that I have of what I want to accomplish, and I think of it as already done. And then I'll also be the— and visualize the perfect version of myself and the emotions I prefer to feel. These emotional states are priming me to then tailor more of that emotion throughout my day, and I I find that by doing that, as I go throughout my day, I find more reasons to feel that gratitude, to feel that flow, that freedom, that passion because of that priming right in the morning. Now here's another thing that I do. Tony Robbins in his book called the— I think it's Awaken the Giant Within. He has a chapter in there that is called Transformative Vocabulary, and in that chapter there is a list of words that has on one side he has what is called good words, which are certain emotional trigger words, and on the other side There will be better words, and those better words are very powerful, transformative words that have more of an emotional connection when we read them. Now what I do is every day I look through that list right after I meditate, and what I do is I allow my mind to just kind of use that as a priming tool for me to then connect into those emotional states of being and just to see which words my mind goes to. Now I find that doing this once again allows me to prime my mind for certain emotional states within it and allows me to then really just embody that more. Now, this is something that you can apply in understanding that the first 20 minutes that you wake up in the morning, they've shown that our brainwave activity is at the most susceptible to the subconscious mind. We're waking up from a delta state to a theta state to an alpha state to a beta state, and as we are going through that, we have the most influence over the subconscious mind. So priming your brain when you wake up in the morning is one of the most powerful things that you can do. You can also do it right before you go to bed, and that's why I think the very first part of your day is the most important. Now, how do affirmations differ from priming? Well, affirmation sometimes can build in resistance because we're saying things that maybe our subconscious beliefs don't really— we don't really believe to be true. If we are feeling lack and we're just sitting there saying, I am abundant, I am abundant, a lot of times there's not emotion behind that. So there's ways that you can transform that, and one way is to simply focus more on the feeling of it. But another way is that we don't have to add the resistance to it, and we can more of work from where we are. With priming, we are focusing on certain words, and it's a more passive process versus affirmations, which many times is more forceful. We're trying to force it into our subconscious mind, whereas with priming, we're simply guiding it. So affirmations work for many people. I choose to focus more on priming because I think that it gives me more conscious control over the neurosynaptic connections in my brain. It allows me to then take action in a much more powerful way and it allows me to really be at the cause rather than the effect. And for me it just feels more authentic than affirmations. Now I'll still use them, but I more so focus on priming because it has a more effect on my state of being. So with that being said, I hope you guys enjoyed this video.
