The Key to Healing Your Childhood Trauma FOR GOOD (and feeling worthy)

In this video Aaron Doughty argues that childhood trauma is not merely a curse but a hidden gift that can catalyze spiritual awakening, personal growth, and even professional success. He shares his own painful history—an abusive ex‑step‑mom, feelings of unworthiness, and repeated relationship patterns—and explains how recognizing trauma as a pressure that forces awakening transformed his life, leading to a thriving YouTube channel. He illustrates the concept with his friend Victor Odo’s firecracker accident, showing how Victor turned his physical trauma into a career as a personal trainer and spiritual guide. Aaron outlines a three‑step healing process: (1) become aware of the trauma, (2) give it a new, empowering meaning, and (3) feel the emotions fully, often through specific meditations (a 21‑day worthiness meditation and an inner‑child meditation available at aarondoughty.com/child). He warns against staying stuck in trauma or using it solely for external validation, urging viewers to reframe their pain, embrace their inherent worth, and engage with the provided meditations. The video ends with a call to comment, like, and share experiences of seeing trauma as a gift.

I have something to tell you, and that is that your childhood trauma or your trauma in general is a gift. You might not be aware of it yet, but it is a gift once you unwrap it and you look at it and you realize that that's what it is. Now, I look to my own life, what I do for a living, making YouTube videos, helping people understand more about who they are, and I can very clearly see that I would not be doing what I am doing right now Maybe I even wouldn't be as successful as I am right now if it wasn't for the childhood trauma that I went through when I was younger. And once I started to transform and in a way unwrap the gift of trauma, that's when my whole entire life transformed. So in this video, I'm gonna show you how your trauma is a gift, and it is something that in a way is going to propel you into the life that you can maybe even not really imagine right now. And I'm gonna show you how I did that, how some of my friends have done that as well, and how that trauma has literally become one of the best things that has happened because it has spawned through it so much good things. So in this video, I'm going to show you exactly what that is. Welcome back to another video. My name is Aaron and I help people expand their consciousness. Now in this video, I'm going to be showing you how I believe my childhood trauma, and many of you may know of my story if you've been watching my videos for a while, But when I look back at the different things I experienced, at first, before I went through my transformation back in 2012, one of the big ones, I went through a spiritual awakening, I saw my past as this inconvenient thing. It was very far from a gift. If anything, I felt like it was a curse, and I felt like it was something that was holding me back. It was the working at, the time when I had my transformation, I was working at Nordstrom's in women's shoes. I was feeling a lot of resistance. I was feeling, I knew I wasn't where I wanted to be. I had a manager that was the same energy dynamic as my ex-stepmom, and I was replaying these patterns over and over again. And what I mean by that is I had an ex-stepmom from 7 to 15 years old who was, we could actually even back up before then. 7 to 15 years old, I had the abusive ex-stepmom in my life. She was mentally, physically, and emotionally abusive. If my brother and I wanted to go to a school activity, we 90% of the time get it taken away for something really dumb that we did or didn't do. And normally we were just locked outside doing chores all day. We weren't allowed to have friends, weren't allowed to watch TV. We were given a bowl of cereal in the morning and a TV dinner at night. And we were very skinny, malnourished. And up until 15, 16, I was 15, 16, my brother was like 13, 14, my dad divorced her and finally my brother and I had all this freedom. However, I kept attracting similar women into my life that were like my ex-stepmom. It's almost like I was comfortable being around women that wanted to control me. I had a girlfriend that was very jealous and always mad at everything I was doing, just like my ex-stepmom. And then after that, I had a manager at Nordstrom's in women's shoes that was the same personality structure as my ex-stepmom. It wasn't until I healed and I started to unpack that trauma that then that manager got fired. We tried getting her fired for years, but we couldn't because she was protected by upper management. But even if you bring this even further back, I had this realization recently when doing something called plant medicine where it kind of helps sometimes, it can for some people help unpack trauma. And I became aware that even before my ex-stepmom, when I was 2 or 3 years old, when my brother was born, I was before that the only child. When my brother was born, all the attention shifted from me to my brother because my brother had a lot of stuff going on. He had asthma, he was in the hospital every 2 weeks. And I then felt very alone. I felt like there was something wrong with me. I wasn't getting the attention attention that I feel like I needed, and I felt like I was unworthy. And as I look back, I can now see that that childhood trauma right there of feeling a lack of attention and a lack of significance is something that drove me, even though my mom didn't mean it, my mom didn't, you know, know, our parents are always doing the best they can, but in a way I felt very alone, and that caused me to then feel not worthy. That childhood trauma right there though is one of the things that I think propelled me to take massive action in making a YouTube channel that got 1 million subscribers or 100 million views. It was how can I, on one hand, help as many people as I can, but on the other end, it was this helps me feel significant, this helps me feel noticed, and this has given me attention. So in a way, the mother wound from when I was 2 or 3 years old is a reflection of the YouTube channel, which is then trying to fill up the hole of me feeling worthy, whole, and complete. I became aware of this a couple months ago, and I was then looking at it and starting to question, can I feel worthy for just being me? Now, that is a huge epiphany that I've had recently. And even so, maybe that was really what motivated me to not just help people, but also to get that sense of filling up that hole. And another aspect of this is the trauma that I experienced when I was a kid as well. Now, for a long time, it was a curse though. I wasn't taking action with the YouTube videos. I wasn't taking action with trying to help people. It was like just this thing that was hovering over me, like the ex-stepmom thing, wondering and thinking there's something wrong with me and feeling not worthy. However, there's another aspect to this as well. Most people that have been through a lot of trauma growing up, or even just any trauma at all, that is pressure from the gift that is the pressure. And as we start to become aware of it, it causes a spiritual awakening. So most souls that are advanced souls, and we don't have to think of this as some significant, I'm more advanced than someone else 'cause I've had more trauma, but in a way, a lot of us that came here to wake up, we came here, decided to go through the trauma earlier on in life because it created pressure for us to wake up later or earlier than other people. So congratulations if you've been through trauma because normally and most likely that has caused you to then have this pressure inside of you to then go through a process of spiritual awakening. And if you follow my channel, you've probably either gone through one, about to go through one, or are going through one. So a spiritual awakening is where you become aware that you are more than just this 3D physical body. You are an eternal spiritual being having a temporary life experience, a human experience, and the trauma can catapult that realization because I believe that we come here, we forget who we are as eternal spiritual beings to then remember who we are. Trauma is a way of getting us to do work to create pressure for us to become aware of that. So there, it's a gift right there. Now, another aspect of this though, I was talking to my buddy Victor about this. Many of you know Victor Odo, he's my best friend. He also had a crazy childhood trauma experience. He, what he went through is he was with his parents chilling when he was young and he had a firecracker that went off and it completely exploded. He was at like a neighborhood thing in like the cul-de-sac and one of the fireworks was getting ready to go up and it fell, it hit Victor in his chest and it was burned. It burned a lot of his skin. It burned a lot of his skin on his arm, on his chest. And he, it was very traumatizing for both him and his family. He was, almost died from it. He was in shock. He ended up going and having to wear this like suit that was humiliating. He had to wear a suit to school for weeks and like this brace thing. And it was a very traumatic experience. However, talking to Victor about this, we both can look at these traumas and see how they catapulted us in our own ways towards growth. You know, he became a personal trainer. Maybe he wanted to get his body so in check because maybe Part of him felt like this was something that was holding him back, so maybe he tried compensating that way. We were kind of talking about that, and he became very serious about the body, and he got very big, got muscular, and then he became a personal trainer. And even now, he teaches people how to navigate through their spiritual awakening process. But what he does is a lot of it is around the body. He helps a lot of empathic people that maybe are healing through their body. And he now, and he's working through his trauma now more than ever, very proud of him. But we can both see how this has caused a certain level of pressure to maybe wake up and to go through a spiritual awakening, but also to help other people. So many people that have been through trauma become people that also add value to other people. Now, if you look to a lot of successful people on the planet as well, many, many, many successful people have been through childhood trauma and that has catapulted them to then do something about it, to then change. Here's the challenge though. Sometimes we stay in the childhood trauma. I could keep trying to fill the cup of feeling significant and getting more and more subs, but guess what? Eventually that would feel empty, or eventually that would be something that I'd have to process. So one of the ways we process our trauma, one of the main ways that we unwrap the gift of trauma is we become aware of it and we start to see it literally as something that we can start to give new meaning to. Back in the past, it was a curse of this whole horrible thing of my childhood, but then I started to see that this led me to a spiritual awakening and that became a gift in a way. And I was able to forgive my ex-stepmom. I was able to forgive my parents for not knowing or for my interpretation of different things. But as I gave it a new meaning, it transformed the effects that I had out of it. But the key to this is giving it a new meaning. How do you relate to your trauma? Is it this horrible thing that happened to you and screw this person, screw this person? Because if so, it's negatively charged, that negative charge is causing you to attract people into your life to keep replaying the same trauma. This is why they say in relationships, in love, we trauma bond ourselves to these people that replay the same patterns that we had with our parents. So sometimes people will, maybe they had somebody that, one of their parents cheated on the other, so they tend to attract somebody that cheats on them because they're not aware of that Childhood trauma, but that could be a gift. It's something you can go in, you can heal yourself, you can become aware, you can feel the energy. A lot of this is a mixture of becoming aware of the gift, giving it new meaning, and then feeling what comes up. You know, the way that animals work is when animals are in the wild, let's say gazelle is being chased by a lion, what happens is before the gazelle, after it gets away from the lion, before the gazelle goes back into the herd, it will shake and do this crazy, this crazy routine 'cause it's shaking out the trauma. It's feeling it and it's allowing it to flow through. And what happens is then it goes back into the herd and then it doesn't bring that trauma with it, doesn't carry it around. Whereas humans, what we do, we go through trauma and we carry it in our body. We keep identifying with it. We don't actually feel it. And that's why the feeling is the healing. And this is one of the most important things with this process, becoming aware of it as a gift, giving it new meaning, and then starting to see What can you do with this? How can you let it motivate you in a different way? Doesn't mean you need to use it in a way like, oh, I'm not worthy for my childhood trauma, maybe I should create a YouTube channel and get a lot of attention. But you can then start to see, I look back and I can see how these things actually served me. And now I can come at it from the frame that I'm worthy for just being me. Now I don't care what people think. Now I can make videos on whatever I wanna talk about. And it's an interesting, way of relating to it, but there's a new sense of freedom in there. But feel it to heal it. I have a meditation that is on feeling 100% worthy, whole, and complete, on completing the past. When you feel it, you heal it. Listen to this meditation for 21 days and watch how it begins to transform your life. I also have an inner child meditation for healing your inner child. If you go to aarondoughty.com/child, C-H-I-L-D, it is a meditation where you energetically go to Kauai, Hawaii and heal your inner child. It's very powerful. It's like a live activation, or it was a live activation. Activation, but you do that, do that for 21 days, watch what happens there. So AaronDoughty.com/Child or listen to this meditation below for 21 days. It's on YouTube. And other than that, I hope you guys enjoyed this video. Like this video if you like videos like this that are just more raw. If you feel like you became aware and start to see how your trauma is a gift and comment below, how can you maybe see your trauma as a gift? How can you give it a new meaning? Comment below.
