The Most Powerful Energy Technique I've Ever Found (The Frame Technique)

In this video Aaron Doughty introduces the "frame technique," an energy‑containment practice designed to help empaths and people with weak boundaries reclaim their personal energy. He explains that many individuals unconsciously project their energy outward because, as children, they learned to expand their field for safety, which later creates a thin, repellent aura. The technique teaches a simple breath‑and‑focus meditation: on the inhale, notice the separation between self and a reference point (a candle flame, a wall, or another person); on the exhale, direct attention to the surrounding "zeros" (the other). Repeating this creates a felt space, allowing energy to be pulled back into the body, establishing a magnetic, contained field. Doughty supports the method with anecdotes from live events (e.g., a woman releasing a toxic relationship, audience energy shifts), his own shadow‑work coaching with a Jungian psychologist, and early experiences in Costa Rica. He links the practice to the developmental concept of subject‑versus‑object differentiation, describing how lack of this boundary leads to people‑pleasing, over‑giving, and emotional overload. The video concludes with a 21‑day challenge, inviting viewers to practice the frame technique daily, track changes, and share results, positioning the method as a transformative tool for personal safety, relationships, and group dynamics.

The most powerful energy exercise I have ever found completely transformed my energy from the inside out. This exercise and technique is so simple, and yet it completely changes everything about you. Now, even at a recent live event I did, I brought someone on stage that was wanting to let go of a relationship. But finding herself always getting sucked back in. She was with someone that had an avoidant attachment style, and it was someone that was not reaching out to her, someone that was not in clear communication with her. And what she found is every time she'd pull away, that was the only time he would then lean in. And what was very interesting is while on stage with me, we went through and embodied this energy of actually energetically finally letting go of him and then bringing that energy back inside of her body, doing the simple technique. And the next day I brought her up because what I heard through the grapevine is that this person blew up her phone after she did that. This happens very often when you bring the energy back into your body, which is exactly what I showed her how to do at that live event. Everything changes. When you bring the energy back into your body, literally people can feel it. And one of the most powerful ways that people repel people in their lives is their energy is not contained. The energy is subconsciously being projected out towards other people because as a kid there may have been an energy there where if you did not feel safe, you subconsciously expanded your energy field to include your environment. And then what happens is you might walk around with your energy field so expanded but not powerful and like magnetic and contained. That energy is being spread out so thin where people can feel that energy as a repellent. Because it literally feels like someone— it's intrusive energy. And this is because the energy is not contained, feeling safe inside of itself. And this is exactly what the technique I'm gonna share in this video is about. It's a very simple process. And it's a process that recently at live events, I've been bringing people on stage just to feel the difference. Where what I'll do is I'll bring someone on stage and I'll have them actually feel the energy of people in the crowd projecting energy at them. And what happens is that feels like you can literally feel not safe in your body. You feel like an intrusion. And interestingly enough, then what I'll say is everyone in the crowd, bring the energy into your body, bring the energy in your body, bring the energy into your body. And then there's an energy where you can feel more safe inside of your own body. And this is a double-edged sword because it's what I'm gonna teach you is not how to like tell people to bring the energy in their body. I'm gonna show you how to feel the separation between you and others in a way to where you're able to feel more calm, regulated in your own body to where you don't need the external to shift in many different ways for you to feel safe. And every person I brought up at different live events to do this has feels the difference. It was like, wow. Even when I'm at live events, one of the, like, I don't know if people know this at my live events, but one thing I do is at my live events, one of the first things I do when we start is I will have people bring their energy back inside of their body, close their eyes, and feel the separation between them and the walls, them and each other, feel the space and energy above and below. And as I do that, it completely transforms the energy of the room and it allows me to get more in a flow state because then the energy is more contained inside the room. So it's a part of that process where I can still do that inside of myself, but it contains, it creates a safety inside the space, which is very powerful. Now, this technique is so powerful because people that find themselves attracted to it many times may have not completely integrated this from childhood. So one of the core parts of this from childhood to understand is that when we're growing up, one thing we are meant to learn at a certain point is something called subject versus object differentiation. Now, this is a subject versus object thing where what happens if you're an empath and you can feel other people's energies, you might find yourself feeling connected to everybody, knowing exactly what everyone is thinking. You know people's intentions when you go into a room. However, the other side of that is there's a part of you where the reason you know so clearly what everyone else is thinking and doing You think it might be because you have this spiritual gift and you have this like spiritual alignment to certain Pleiadian star system or something. But really what it is is in childhood, it's more so connected to survival. The other way is like a grandiose way that our ego loves because it's like, I'm super special. You might find yourself attracted to YouTube videos like, you're an empath, you're one of the chosen ones. People in the spiritual niche love, "I'm chosen, I'm significant, I'm enough." And when I was going through my awakening, that was a part of it too. I'm so sensitive because I'm so spiritually awake and everyone else is asleep. Created separation, of course. But one of the things to become aware of is as a survival mechanism as a kid, you may have tuned to everybody else to say, Who do I need to be in order to feel safe? And then you might find yourself as a chameleon able to easily shift. And as a survival mechanism, that's become something that's on autopilot. Now what really shifts is when you learn that the other shadow side of that is that you feel responsible for everybody subconsciously because it's your job to walk into a room to ease tension so that you could feel safe. Because if you've expanded your field to include others, that includes the good and the bad. That includes the, this is a burden. And if you're an empath who can feel other people's energies and you feel people's energies very deeply and you don't have this subject versus object differentiation, you'll find yourself in relationships with people that dump their stuff on you. You'll find yourself also in a weird way blocking love and connection because to be in love and connection means to have a permanent burden around you that you have to manage and fix, which long-term feels heavy. This is why a lot of empaths may have that of different blocks come up in relationship where it's like, why do I? Well, part of it is you feel responsible for attention. Because you've expanded your energy field to include everybody else. Now in this video, I'm gonna show you what I learned from a shadow work integration coach, someone that I worked with for about a year and a half, 2 years that helped me integrate this completely into my life. My whole entire life shifted after I learned this. Right now I'm in Sedona, Arizona, which is ironically where I learned the technique. Zoom sessions with this person and help me become aware of, and this is the way this, first off, let's get straight to the technique. I've shared it in a few videos and there's 2 or 3 threads of this technique also that I did. I coined it as the frame technique and that's just because there was no other name for it. There's, I'm sure this is a, some type of practice in many different ways. So I'm not saying I'm the originator of all these techniques. I've learned these in a few different ways, but I've kind of coined it this, and I'm gonna show you how to use it. This is the thing that when I meet people in public that recognize me from my videos, very often people will say, the frame technique changed my life. It was so simple and so powerful. My complete energy shifted. I feel so much more in my own, safe in my body. Like I hear these things all the time. And the way that I learned about it as well is the first seed that was planted was actually back when I went to Costa Rica to a life transformation spa place. In 2017 and there was a consciousness teacher there and basically what she was teaching was the energy of people and she did this thing where there was about 40 people in the group, in the room, and she said, right now I want everyone to send energy up to me, send energy up to me, send energy up to me. And she said that when people do that, it feels intrusive. And then what happens, she said, everyone bring the energy back in your body over and over again. And as we did that, there's this magnetizing effect. Because when you're projecting at, it's intrusive. When you're bringing energy back into your body, someone is grounded, they don't need anything from you. And through that grounded present energy, the energy field of that is magnetic. The energy field of that is contained. So that was the first thing that plant— I always remembered that. Then years later, I learned from my shadow work coach who was a Carl Jungian psychologist who literally that was his specialty. So I was learning about Carl Jung, different archetypes, and one of the things I learned is from my childhood, think about it, having a narcissistic ex-stepmom in my life from, you know how I always say 7 to 17? It was actually 9. It was, I think I was 8 or 9 years old, 'cause I was, with the holidays recently, I was around my dad and we talked about the different year. I'm like, what years was it? It was more like 9 to 17. And that was the time where I was around a person that was very unpredictable. I was walking on eggshells. She would get mad at things and my dad divorced her when I was 17. But for most of that period of my life, on eggshells. So who did I have to be to be loved? I had to be perfect and it would change based on this person's emotions. And I had to constantly tune to know if I was safe or not. So my energy field had to kind of expand in order to include the environment. And one of the things that happened in this that he explained to me, my shadow work coach, is that subject versus object, this is where things shift. I think of it like zeros and ones in the Matrix. Think about it like ones represent the self, zeros represent other. And spirituality, yes, we're all one consciousness, but where many people go wrong is we're all one consciousness and then what happens is there's almost feeling selfish if you were to focus on the self, on the one. So what happened is what my shadow work taught me is this simple, I think it's a Zazen meditation practice that's a part of this, which is where what you do is you stare at a candle flame and what you do is on the in-breath, you focus on the separation between you and the flame. So, and on the out-breath, and you focus very intently on the flame. And then on the out-breath, you relax and you put your attention on the zeros. You think of it like the flame is the one and everywhere around is the zeros or the other, as I call it. Zeros or other, zero and O is like kind of the same thing, right? But you don't change your eyes when you do this. So I'm not like focusing and then looking around. Your eyes, eyes that wander is a mind that wanders. As you begin to feel the separation between you and the flame or you and the walls or you and a person, this is where you start to bring your energy back. So as you're focusing on the flame, On the in-breath, on the out-breath, focusing on the peripheral. And you just do this, you just do this. And with practice on the in-breath separation, on the out-breath, focus on the peripheral. It begins to do something to your consciousness where then what you can do is begin to finally feel safe inside of your own body. You begin to bring the energy back to you. What happens is as you do this repetitively, you start to realize what's other people's stuff versus your stuff to manage. When I did this in Sedona, I became aware of so many patterns where I would tune to people for safety or approval or validation. I'd realize if someone, I remember I was here and someone wanted me to come to like a dinner party and I was not, I didn't wanna go. And before, the old me would've been like, "Someone's not gonna be happy with me. Friends are gonna think I let them down." And I tuned into my body and said, "Do I really want to go?" And I realized I didn't. So I remember saying to this other person, "No, thank you, but thanks for the invite." And then there was a first, it was like, maybe I'll say I'm going to the freaking airport or something. Like, no, I'm gonna be honest. I'm gonna live in integrity. And when I said that, then this person said, "Come on, it'll be fun." It was like, oh, not a test, but it was like another opportunity to be like, "No, thank you." And if this person did feel tension, I can recognize that their tension is their tension, not my thing to manage. Just like the flame, the self versus other, self versus other, the separation. You can let somebody be in their energy and not think that it's your job to manage it. So even you take this a step further, I would do this and I remember going for a walk here right down the street. I've had this house for years. I went for the certain hike right down the street. And as I was walking around, 'cause this is about 3 years ago that I learned this, I was walking around, I noticed this energy where I'd normally walk by people, there's almost like this energy where I want other people to like, like I felt obligated to say hi to people, even if I didn't feel like doing it. It was like this guilt, like, "Do they think I'm mean? Do they think I'm rude?" And what I remember doing is just feeling the separation between me and other people. What was interesting is so, there was almost like there was such a magnetic gravity to this that people would like reach, like say hi, but there was not this energy of I need to say something. It was coming from a different place. And I'd say hi back, but it wasn't like, "Hey," You see, there's a difference there. I remember when I became aware of this pattern, actually, my dad came out to Sedona and we went ATVing and we were at this trail called Submarine Rock, this like ATV trail, very popular place out here. And I remember that as people were like coming through, there was a lot of it was one way. And I remember that when I was with my dad, there was like sometimes we'd let people go. And I remember just the way my dad was, and my dad's such a nice guy, he was like, Yeah, oh, it's okay, come on. Like, thank you. Like, just the way he was, there was probably a part of me at the time that was judging it a bit, but I was like, wow, there's such this good, this almost good guy energy. I was like, oh, come on. Like, it was just this like being seen as good. And I was like, man, I had such this energy being seen as good, which meant if you're seen as good and you say no to going to a party, you're a bad person. But remember, that's their thing to manage, not yours. You see, this is a huge shift when you begin to realize that what other people feel tension is not your thing to manage. You may have believed it was your survival mechanism growing up, but it's not your thing to manage. So one of the most powerful things for you to do is to begin to bring the energy back inside of your body and to realize that as you feel into the sensation and you create the space between you and others, You start to then recognize this subject versus object thing, which is a normal part of development of growing into an adult. But if you weren't allowed to have boundaries as a kid, or you felt like to be safe, you had to be the responsible one or fix or overgive in order to be loved, you might find that that gets kind of hazy. I went to my dad's house recently in Vegas and there's like 4, there's like 5 dogs. And every single dog has this boundary thing where it just like gets on top of you and they'll lay on top of you and it's loving and it feels great to have that. But I recognize, I'm like, wow, these dogs, I even said it to my dad and my sister. I was like, the dogs have no boundaries just like the people that live into this house. I was just kind of joking around, but it's true. No boundaries. The dogs have no boundaries. They have not learned subject-object differentiation. I'm gonna put them through one of my courses. No, sit, stay. But is this— we're in a way doing this to a part of ourself that feels responsible. So for many people that take on the energies of other people, The thing that they're not lacking, but the thing that they get to grow and lean into to completely transform from the inside out is to let people feel tension, to let people have an emotion, and to not feel like it's your responsibility to fix it. But what you can begin to do as a simple energy practice is to feel the space, to feel the separation between you and them. And as you do that, as you begin to feel more contained inside of yourself by doing that, you will then start to come back to yourself. And as emotion comes up, as things start coming up for you, you realize what's yours versus theirs, what's your stuff versus what's their stuff. And this is where there can be big shifts in your life where you realize that you've been living people pleasing, overgiving, oversharing, trying to fix whatever as a mechanism to feel safe, but that has your energy going everywhere else. So interestingly enough, the exercise is very simple in the sense that it's really about just feeling and focusing on the space in between you and others, in between you and the walls. In between you and your environment. And as you breathe in this simple practice, what you're gonna begin to learn is you're gonna begin to learn how to be more with yourself, which for some people can be very uncomfortable because when you're with yourself, you might feel selfish. You might have unprocessed emotion come up, but that unprocessed emotion coming up is coming up because you're finally being with you. You're finally not distracting yourself with everybody else that you need to fix. You're not distracting yourself with everybody else's energy and the blame sometimes that comes with that too. They're not coming around, they did this. It creates an energy of scattering your field, scattering your energy. So bringing your energy back is one of the most powerful ways to begin to shift how you're showing up in the world And when you begin to do this simple practice, you'll notice that over the next 21 days of doing it, literally 21 days is all you need to really feel the huge separate, 'cause you start to become aware of patterns in your life and energies in your life that have been out of balance. So doing this changes everything. This is the thing that I get so many people that come to me that it shifts things for people when they begin to do it. This is something that I'm gonna be bringing into a core program or process that I'm creating right now that takes people deep on this to see what else is coming up in your life and how it changes every area of your life as you begin to shift it. And there is a video that I have that I wanna challenge you to for the next 21 days. There's a frame technique meditation that I have that you could do for 21 days in a row. And then come back to this video in 21 days and comment what shifted for you. Comment what happened so that it can inspire other people. You can comment below right now and let me and say, I declare that I'm committed to 21 days for doing this. Let's all do it together and see what happens at the end of 21 days of doing this simple frame technique meditation. I'll go ahead and link that right at the end here. You could check this video out next, do this meditation for 21 days and watch what happens.
