Aaron Doughty teaches a body-awareness meditation to stop overthinking. Instead of fighting your thoughts, bring attention to physical sensations in your hands, heart, legs, and feet. Fifteen minutes each morning and night for five years cultivates presence and reduces mental chatter.

Welcome back to another video. My name is Aaron and I help people expand their consciousness. Now in this video, I'll be sharing with you the most powerful technique or way to quiet your own mind. Now I know for me especially years ago when I learned meditation, it was a struggle for me because I was trying so hard to control my mind, to control my ego, but I realized that the more I tried to control it, the more that I got tangled up in that own web, the more that it actually became harder to do. And what I'm going to share with you is a very simple thing. A lot of times the most simple things have some of the most power, and it's this simple idea. When we are focused on controlling our ego, controlling our mind, not thinking thoughts. The attention is on the thinking. The intention is on the changing, is on the ego desires. When instead we simply choose to focus on silence, that's when that silence begins to grow. Whatever we focus on in our life will grow. If we're focused on the thinking, the thinking will grow. If we're focused on controlling, we end up controlling ourselves. It becomes resistance. If we focus on silence, if we focus on listening, that will grow. You will create more space within you when you meditate, and it can be such a simple process. Simply bring the awareness from the head and into the body. Bring the awareness right now. You can do it with me right now. Simply bring the awareness into your hands. And as you become aware of the sensation inside of your hands, you are then bringing the awareness from being thinking so much and into your body. Bring the awareness into your heart space. Bring the awareness into your left leg and foot, your right leg and foot. Begin to feel rather than think. And from this place, simply listen to silence. And if there's noise, listen to the silence underneath the noise. Realize that when the noise comes up, in between the noise is silence. It's simply about listening to the gaps in between, to observing the thoughts that come up. Don't try to control your mind. When you try to control, it becomes you versus you. Simply observe what's happening. The paradox is that when you observe the thoughts that come in, You can then let them flow through and you can let them go. When a thought comes in and we try to wrestle with it, it stays in our own mind. It stays on our own energy field. Become aware of what it is and just let it flow through. It will naturally go away. The more attention that you have towards this, the better, and the more that you can simply observe it with no neutral charge. Those thoughts are not good. They are not bad. They simply are. The more that it will just flow through. The key and the most powerful effect that you can get out of meditation is simply becoming more present to the moment. And the way you do that is from listening, is from feeling, is from being, not thinking, not doing. It's from being. There might be action with that process, but you are being who you prefer to be. You are being present to the moment and you become present at the moment by being present inside of your body, not in the intellectual. Ideas, not ingrained in the thinking of how things should be, of controlling the ego. Bring it to a visceral process of feeling. Bring the awareness into your body and simply choose to listen for the silence. Do it right now with me. Simply become aware of the next thought that comes into your head. Become very aware of what that is, and before you do that, focus on hearing the silence. When you focus on the silence, the silence grows. Let's do that right now. When you become aware of this silence and you start to focus on it, it will continue to grow. If right now it seems like it's something that's hard to do, simply realize that the more you do it, the easier it gets. This process gets easier and easier as you go. I've been meditating for 5 years. Every morning right when I wake up for 15 minutes and every night before I go to bed for 15 minutes and I haven't missed a day. I enjoy doing it and I find that when I started out, if I simply did it every day, amazing results was what I got after a week or two of doing it. Simply choose to listen, to focus on the silence, to observe the thoughts that come into your head, and you'll start to find that then you have a new type of experience about it. Don't control your ego. Focused on simply being, focused on becoming present, and everything will begin to fall in place anyways. So with that being said, hope you guys enjoyed this video. Feel free to like this video if you liked it, share it if you found it of value, and as always, I will see you guys on the next vid. Peace, much love, namaste. All right, bye.
