The Personality Shift that changed your Personal Reality Forever

Aaron Doughty argues your personality acts like a thermostat, pulling your circumstances toward what you believe you are. He went from a 9-to-5 job with ADHD to full-time YouTuber by imagining a future self and repeatedly acting as that person. The shift works by challenging identity beliefs, using vivid imagination, doing things your old self would avoid, and building new daily habits.

The reality you are currently in is equal to that which you are thinking, feeling, and acting. You could say that your personality is creating your personal reality. As Dr. Joe Dispenza says, you may have heard that saying before, but the key to this is understanding one central idea. Your personality is not fixed. At some point in your past, something may have happened and you may have decided, this is who I am now. You may have said, well, when I was 12, I was told to eat my food and be quiet, and now I am shy. Subconsciously, this could have been a choice you made. You could have made a choice earlier when you ever got, if you ever got rejected when you were a teenager or a kid, and when you got rejected, you then made choices about who you are. And unknowingly, you now may be living in the same pattern over and over and over again without even knowing it, all based in the central premise that your personality is the same, is static. It is not static. It is not fixed. It is flexible. And in this video, I'm gonna show you step by step how to shift your personality, because once you shift your personality, you shift your personal reality. This is the key that most people miss when transforming their life. They focus on surface-level things, manifesting, all these little things instead of the personality. Which remember, you don't get in life that which you want. Always you get in life that which you are. Always. So you don't always get what you want, but you always get a reflection of who you are. In this video, I'm going to show you how to make that shift. Welcome back to another video. My name is Aaron and I help people expand their consciousness. Now in this video, I'm going to be sharing with you why your personality is not fixed, how you can change it like that, and when you do change your personality like that, you then change your personal reality. Now you may have heard me actually tell this story before, but it's a, it's a story that I've heard, a scientific study that's been proven many times with people with what is called multiple personality disorder, meaning they have one personality, they then shift to a different personality. So let's say one personality is Bob, then they shift to Rick. Bob goes to Rick. Bob does not have cancer. Bob is healthy. Bob has a certain personality structure. He may be happy, maybe more joyful, whatever the personality structure of Bob is. Bob then shifts to Rick. When Bob is in Rick, Bob may have a different eye color. Bob may go by a different name. Bob may have different habits. Bob may even have cancer. From one minute to the next minute, you could test Bob and Rick Bob will not have cancer. Rick will have cancer. Bob will then shift back 10 minutes later back to Bob and will not have cancer again. This begs the question, what is reality? This begs the question, personality— or kind of shows personality creates personal reality, even down to the level of cellular structure. So just showing that, it shows there's more going on here than we even think. And it shows that reality is more flexible when, when from one moment to the next, based on maybe it's subconscious programming, that it's literally a different person. It's a different person with a different body. So the key to this is understanding that personality and understanding how your personality is made. Now before we get into it, if you like more videos on personality, more videos that go deep on shifts like this, like this video below, subscribe if you haven't already. I make daily content like the— almost daily content like this on transforming your life from the inside out and understanding, uh, really things like this awareness of personality and how that creates your personal reality. So to think of your personality in a simple way, think of it as your personality is how you consistently think, feel, and act. But within your personality, that's kind of like the side effect of how you see yourself, of your self-image. There's a famous book called Psycho-Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz. And in it, it's a plastic surgeon that noticed that when people would have plastic surgery, it would then take them a bit of time for them to see themselves differently. But he would notice that based on behavioral change and based on the way people saw themselves, that was what's consistent to the reality they experience. Because the psychocybernetics, that idea means that whatever the base point is, it always goes back to the base point. Just like a thermometer on the wall, 75 degrees, Open up the window, open up the door, it then gets down or up, the AC or the heater kicks on to regulate it back to 75. Your self-image may say, I am shy, I am not worthy, I am awkward in public. May say things like, I can only make $50,000 a year, I can only have a relationship with someone that's like this, and not even knowing it, that servo mechanism is having you attract a personal reality similar to that because you're not aware of it. At a certain point in your past, you decided, this is who I am. Now I'm going to make this extremely simple because I think this is so powerful. This is some of the most powerful content that I've— that I make. And you got— many of you know that have been watching me for a while. I've been making videos for 3 years in a row. There's a central theme behind a lot of what I share, and a lot of it has to do with what I created in my life. I went from working a 9-to-5 job, having a painful past, having ADHD, Being told that, you know, like, I mean, it was hard for me to focus. That was true at the time. And I had all this resistance I was creating, I was feeling in my life. And I went from that within a very short period of time to feeling much high vibrational by meditating, getting rid of having ADHD or having to take Adderall, look, working, get rid of that 9-to-5 job to doing what I love, making YouTube videos, living my dream life, literally down to traveling the world, living in and then doing what I love, um, helping other people do the same thing, seeing myself in this new way, and, and letting go of my painful past. All of that was done within the last 5 or 6 years. That's what transformed my life, and that's what I want to help other people do. But one of the things a lot of people don't understand is that they can change it. They think it's fixed. We've been primed to believe things are fixed. And even someone like Bruce Lipton has shown that these things are not fixed. Even Bruce Lee, he showed that with epigenetics that our genes don't determine as much as we priorly thought. Our DNA, it's more so our environment. So when we talk about personality, also realize your environment has a big strong part of pool in that. My environment, when I was working that 9-to-5 job and living a life I didn't like, I was smoking a lot of weed. Nothing wrong with that. I'm just saying I was doing it to numb my old emotion of the past that was having me stay in a reality. And I was around people that were also doing the same things. I was kind of stuck because I believe this is who I am, this is what I'm worthy of, until I made a new choice and I said, no, I see a new possibility. And then I decided this is who I am now, and I wired that in every single day. So let's look at the dynamics here. We have things that have happened in the past. In the past, something happened and we gave it meaning, and once we gave it meaning, that thing, that meaning remained on autopilot until we became aware of it again, and then we decided to change it. For example, my ex-stepmom— many of you know, between the ages of 7 to 14 years old, I had an ex-stepmom in my life that was very controlling, very manipulative, physically, emotionally, and mentally abusive. And my brother and I had almost no freedom whatsoever. And then my dad divorced her when I was 15 years old. And then all of a sudden my brother and I have all this freedom. We're able to have friends, we're able to do all this other stuff. And what we realized is that our personality within that period of time was very closed in. I mean, we weren't allowed to have friends even. So all of a sudden, 15 years old, all of a sudden my personality starts coming out. I start figuring out who I am. But prior to that, there was a meaning I gave to that period. The meaning was, I'm not worthy. What I say doesn't matter. Why did this happen to me? There's all these meanings there. Then I go through a spiritual awakening at about 21, 22 years old. When I went through that awakening, it changed the meaning of the past because then I realized that between 7 to 15 years old, all of that pain led to the pressure to me then going through that shift in identity, realizing that I'm not just this ego, I'm a spiritual being having a temporary human experience just like you are. You are an unlimited, eternal spiritual being that is using this temporary physical avatar to experience reality. Only what has happened is something happened in the past, and then you decided, this is who I am, and the avatar said, this is who I am, this is what I'm capable of. And then through identification, you thought that that's who you were going forward. That you were awkward or shy or, uh, that you couldn't attract high-quality relationships into your life. You weren't worthy of money. You have to work a 9-to-5 job. You have to please your parents. These are all stories that you tell yourself, and those stories are consistent to your personality. So what happens is something happened in the past, and then you gave it a meaning, and then it remains on autopilot until you become aware of it. Now the problem is most people's story on the past, as in their memory as well, they're constantly remembering this. That is what is keeping them locked in the reality that they are in. They're living through the stories of the past. They've never questioned it before. Now the thing that I want to show you to do and show you that you can do is you can imagine a new future version of you and then simply decide to be it. Most people live in the past. They do not live in their imagination. Imagination, as Neville Goddard used to talk about, is extraordinarily powerful because your imagination is literally what is bridging you from this reality to this reality. But most people, it's easier for them to imagine what has already happened, and it's not even imagination, it's memory. This happened when I was 12. This happened when I was 14. This kind of relationship's always what I get. I always make this kind of money, and therefore they live consistent. Now why is that? Because this story, this personality, it is very comfortable. People do not like having to challenge their personality. But let me tell you this: if you want to change your personal reality, you must challenge your personality. And I did this in many ways. To me, to become a full-time YouTuber, start making— now that I make videos, travel, do speaking, I had to challenge my personality. Before I was like, this isn't natural. This isn't the same as talking to people. I'm looking into this camera. I remember when I first made them back in 2017, I was like, oh man, it looks so weird to like look into this camera. It doesn't feel like a person. I told myself a story. This isn't like talking to a person. And then guess what? I wired it in. I challenged that personality. I looked into a camera. For literally hundreds of videos, and then now it's normal. I feel like I'm talking to you. You're on the other side of this doing whatever you're doing, and I feel like I'm talking to you even though it's a physical piece of technology. I changed my story. I challenged the old personality. I used to be very uncomfortable even on camera. I used to live at my dad's house when I was making these videos, and my dad, I don't even know what he thought about this kind of content when I first started making it. I was sitting there in the backyard making these videos, and then I said, you know what, I feel so self-conscious of what people think, I'm gonna challenge my personality. I went to the Las Vegas Strip, got a little selfie stick, walked around the Bellagio and through the Caesars Forum Shops while I was talking about weird esoteric things just so I could let go of caring what people think. I challenged my personality. And when it comes to transformation, The comfortable thing to do is to stay where you are because the grooves are already in place. The grooves are in place. The thing I want to encourage you to do is to become aware of your identity-level beliefs. These are beliefs about who you are. Yes, we have beliefs about money, we have beliefs about love, we have beliefs about health. You could change those beliefs. And beliefs, by the way, another word for beliefs is stories. So you change your beliefs, you change your stories, Or you could also change your stories about who you are. And if you believe you're fixed, I'm sorry, I don't care how hard you try to change your beliefs about money and your beliefs about love. If you believe things are fixed, then that will be what holds you back from creating change. From one moment to the next, you are who you choose to be, and every moment's a new moment. That's what quantum physics shows us. It shows us to such an extent that someone with multiple personality disorder can be freaking Bob and then be freaking Rick, and then one person doesn't have cancer, one person does have cancer. That's how fast it can shift. So the personality shift is how much longer are you gonna tell yourself the same story over and over again about who you are and what you're worthy of, and this is the path of least resistance and this is comfortable, or how quickly are you going to step into the unknown and When are you gonna make the choice that enough is enough? I choose to go beyond. Set yourself a stretch experience, something that your old identity would be afraid to do. I did that with making daily videos on YouTube, putting my ideas out there. I did that by walking on the Strip with the selfie stick when people could listen to the weird esoteric stuff I was talking about. And it's not weird to us, of course, but to them it would be weird. And it broke me out of my identity. So the key to this is realizing that your personality or your identity is not fixed. It is not permanent. It is flexible. It is super flexible. All you have to do is give yourself permission to let go of your past and to imagine a better future and then to be that version of you and use your imagination for this. I imagine me making videos on YouTube. I imagine me traveling the world. I imagine me living in a beautiful house. I imagined all these things and then I imagined that version of me and I simply decided that that's who I am now. I don't give a, I don't care what other people think. I don't care if my family and friends thought I was weird because I was just making these daily videos with no one watching. In the beginning, no one was really watching. I was maybe getting 20 views and 5 of them were me. So the key that I'm trying to share with you is you don't need the outer reality to change. The personal reality does not need to change. It's your personality that as you change, the personal reality will change, but don't go out trying to change your personal reality because that's going at it from the outside in. Change your personality first and then do these things because they are who you are. You are that future version of you. And like I said, it takes consistency. It takes momentum. You have a momentum of the old way of being. I had a momentum of going to a 9-to-5 job I didn't care about. I had a momentum of telling myself a story, oh, another day I gotta work here, blah, blah, blah, venting to my coworkers about how slow it was. Then eventually I said, okay, every single day I'm gonna make a video no matter what because that's what my future identity does. And then as I was being it, eventually my reality molded to it. Be it and then you'll see it. With that being said, hope you enjoyed this video. I have a self-image meditation you can listen to that I think will transform your life. I also have something called the Shift Experience. If you want me to show you step by step how to do this, you can see theshiftexperience.com or just click the link in the top description box. Other than that, as always, I'll talk to you later. Peace, much love, and namaste.
