This "LETTING GO" Video Will Change Your Life FOREVER

Aaron Doughty explains how placing too much importance on outcomes—relationships, jobs, goals—creates resistance that blocks what you want. He shows how to shift from desperation to a "good either way" mindset through self-image work and meditation.

By far the most powerful idea that I've learned in my own life that has led to me not only having a successful YouTube channel, creating the success I want in my life, the ability to travel the world and to really be the most authentic version of me. It is the thing that is the missing key for so many clients that I give in my community, in my 21-day challenges, in that of my membership. It changes everything when you apply what I'm about to share with you in this video. And the reality will make way more sense. It'll explain why you maybe wanted something, not gotten it. And these balancing forces that I explain in this video is going to completely make it understandable. And not only that, gonna give you the step-by-step tools as to what you can do to actually align the energy within yourself, to understand that as you do that, your outer reality begins to change as a reflection. Now, by far the most powerful concept that I'm talking about has to do with something called importance. Anything you energetically make important, you put on a pedestal. So imagine we're here right now. There's something we really, really want. There's something we make really, really important. We put it on a pedestal. The moment we energetically put it on a pedestal is the moment we vibrationally separate ourselves from it. So in a way, imagine there's somebody you like. You really want them to validate you, to give you text messages, to see you a certain way, to like you back. You put them on a pedestal. The moment you put them on a pedestal, they're then looking down at you. The energy dynamic then gets butchered and there is this energy that ends up being, it ends up blocking it from just aligning. And this happens in many ways. Imagine there's a job you really want. You say, it's very important that this person, this job calls me back for this job interview. You put it on a pedestal. The moment you do it, energetically, you're telling the person that was interviewing you, you're telling the job that, that it's important, which means it's not equal to my self-image. This really is gonna boil down to self-image, and we're gonna talk about that in a minute. But this explains why anytime you've either wanted a job or you wanted more money and you really, really made it important that you made a certain amount of money, when you let go, it changes everything. And when you don't make it important, because the way that our reality works is there's certain laws in our reality that are always looking for balance of energy. And what happens is when we put something on a pedestal, there's a balancing force that comes into place because of something called excess potential. Excess potential is that of an energy where there's an excess of the energy of the importance, and there's a balancing force that comes into place to balance it out. So when I first learned about this, I began to apply it in my life and immediately things began to shift for me. I remember the first time I ever used this, I know I've shared this in a YouTube video before, but basically there was a house that I wanted to live in when I was in Vegas. And what ended up happening is I really, really wanted it, but there were only 6 houses in Vegas that were available for rent. In the price point that I wanted. This is back like a couple years ago. And I really, really wanted it. And then I learned about excess potential, decreasing the level of importance of something so that it is natural for your self-image. And I realized that I wanted, I was applying for the house, I made enough money for it, but there was like 5 or 6 other people that applied for the same house 'cause there was like not that many other houses available in Vegas at the time. And by doing so, What ended up happening is I was putting it on a pedestal and I caught myself. And then what I did is I, instead of putting it on a pedestal, I saw it as natural. I realized that if this house doesn't happen, there'll be something better. I started to trust more. And there's different strategies for decreasing importance I'm gonna share with you. But ask yourself the question, is there any time where you really, really wanted something and you've had needy energy for it and it's actually worked out? Normally it doesn't. Normally the energy gets butchered, especially if it's in relation to other people, 'cause other people are so sensitive to this energy. But the key is, and has it ever been where things weren't working out, you let go, and then it did work out? Let me ask you that. 'Cause so many times I've seen that happen, even in my own life. There's something I wanted, I let it go, it was butchering up, and it wasn't working out and then I just let it go and then everything worked out? Have you ever had it where you're trying to figure something out in your mind and you're making it important that you figure it out and the answer's not coming to you? Then you let it go or you do something else. Solution comes like that. Why? Because you've let go of importance and you've allowed the energy stream to actually come in. So for what I'm sharing with you today in this balancing forces and this understanding importance, And portraits is also kind of like a needy energy. It says, I need, it's making, like everything in our reality is fundamentally neutral. That's it. Like for example, if you're dating and there's somebody that you don't really, you're not really that attracted to, it's probably really easy for you to be yourself. But then what happens is you see somebody that you put on a pedestal, that you make very important, their validation is very important, then you start acting kind of weird. Why can't you just act the way you act around the person that like you feel natural around? Why can't you act like that around the person that you really like? Because you're giving them excess importance, excess meaning. That's what it is. Importance is meaning. You give something too much meaning, you energetically create resistance. This explains why you can be yourself around friends and around people that maybe you either already know, you have their, their love or their whatever, but somebody where you want it from them, energetically, the energy gets butchered. The key is to be yourself in all situations. This doesn't mean give yourself excess meaning. I'm the shit, I'm so awesome, I'm on a pedestal, because then you will get cut down. Now, there are two types of importance and excess potential I wanna share with you. And this will explain this whole energy dynamic of like narcissism as well. All right, this is, I remember learning about this concept and then also learning about this concept and then also noticing this in different people. For example, there is internal and external importance. Now, internal excessive potential or importance is where you make yourself very important. You make a certain quality very important. Or you do the opposite side of that and you have self-deprecation. I'm not good enough. I'm not worthy of, I'm not this, I'm not that. Now what happens is sometimes can include the ego. You make the ego very important. You make yourself hot shit. What happens is if you do that, the universe will come in and balance it out. An example of this, two people come to mind. One of them is, remember Logan Paul back in the day when he was getting his meteoric rise on YouTube? Logan Paul was at one point like the biggest YouTuber, vlogger, just growing like crazy. And he was, his daily vlogs were insane and he was at the top of his game. Then what happened is he went to the, whatchamacallit, the Japan thing that happened with the whole suicide forest thing. And at the very peak of everything, it got, everything got dropped and he went through a whole entire process and he spent, since then building himself back up in a completely different way. But nonetheless, when that happens, that's what happens. Internally, maybe he was getting energetically, maybe there was an energy there where his ego was becoming more and more like self-fulfilled or something like that. And the universe kind of like, you know, 'cause also there's a dynamic in collective consciousness that this correlates to as well. Those are called like pendulums, like these thought forms of like everyone, there's a thought form around my YouTube channel. There's a thought form around me. There's a thought form around being a certain part of political parties. Money is one of those as well. Like there's all these pendulums around these, anything where many people focus on one thing, it sends energy to it and it fuels it. Now in a way, Logan Paul, and even the next person I'm talking about, it got built up so much and then it got kind of flattened out because it was imbalanced. Now he could have done that, and if it wouldn't have been about his identity and it would've been more about the passion of just making videos, which he was probably not, he was like forcing himself to do the videos to keep building and to keep more and more and more and more and more, then it could have been different. A lot of times this kind of energy too is a means to an end. It's trying to escape to get somewhere else And because of that, it's like not present to the moment. And that's when the balancing forces come into place. Another person I'm thinking of with this is David Dobrik, also a vlogger. I'm a YouTuber. So, you know, same thing though. He was doing the top of his game, just like he had a podcast, he had sponsorships, he had vlogs, everything, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. And then something happens where same thing, got flattened out. And he's spent since then just building himself back and doing his own thing, but it's been some time now. Same thing though. This happens when there's an excess importance on the ego or on the internal energy where it's made very, very important, or on the opposite side of that where it's like self-deprecating. Now, external importance is when something outside of yourself is important. This is when you want someone to text you back. This is when you want someone's validation or approval, when it's important how someone thinks about you, when you want a job or a house or a specific thing to, you wanna control something to happen a certain way. That is external importance. So these two forces, internal and external, it's about being aware of how you relate to these things so that you can then balance it out. Oh, one thing I wrote down for this is triggers sometimes too. When you make things very important, you will get triggers that tune yourself to them because reality is a reflection of our internal reality. One thing, for example, that's a big, that this is just a very small thing that's gonna seem silly. But for example, when I have people that I get my house cleaned, once a week. When people come to clean my house, I have a lot of tile in my house and sometimes I'm filming videos, sometimes I'm doing other things. I have a pet peeve where anytime I hear the vacuum, this loud vacuum, it's like, vroom, vroom, vroom, just going over and over again throughout my house, I'm like, why can't you just use the broom? Just use a broom, it's so much quieter. It takes them a little bit longer though, so I get it. But I have this like pet peeve, so it's like, I'm so, but probably because I have this pet peeve about it, it's like, I'm home, I find myself home when they're here. I find myself needing to do important things when it's the, like, it's loud in the background. It becomes this thing where you notice it. It's like, if you, for example, I know somebody that like gets so pet peeved when somebody chews with their mouth open. Well, guess what? They'll probably find themselves attracting being in situations where that happens because there's these balancing forces that are in a way kind of like helping us learn, helping us learn how to be in a more balanced style way, but also we're gonna be more tuned to it. So for what I'm sharing with you today, when it comes to excess potential, when it comes to decreased importance, the key, and there's a few solutions to this process that will completely transform your life. And one of them is learning about your self-image. This has been a game changer for me over the last, like, year, but also just last couple months that I've been applying this. Here's another example, by the way, too, that I wanted to mention. For a while, I wasn't sleeping the best. And why? I was making it very important that I slept for a certain number of hours a night, 'cause I'm, like, trying to build muscle. I went through a breakup, like, 3 months ago, and when I went through that breakup, it was, like, kind of hard for me to sleep for a week or 2. I'm like, screw it, I need to sleep, I need to sleep, I don't wanna lose muscle. 'cause sleep's like one of the most important things when it comes to building muscle. So what ended up happening is I made it very important that I sleep good, but then I realized it was like, I'd only be sleeping like 6 hours a night and I'd wanna be sleeping more. So what I ended up doing is I ended up rereading about this concept, relearning about this concept, and I began letting go of the importance of sleep. One of the part of this meant I realized one night I was in this like energy where I only slept for a couple hours and the next day I was actually fine. I had a lot of energy and I was like, maybe I have a story about myself that I have a lot of energy. But what I ended up realizing is, you know what, I don't need as much sleep as I need. And then that lowered the importance and then it made it easier for me to actually sleep more. Now I've been sleeping much better because actually, I've been sleeping great because I've been making it not important. I've been taking it off a pedestal. I've been trusting that when I need to sleep, I'll sleep, but when I don't need to sleep, I won't sleep. I was in Costa Rica and I was realizing how silly it was of how important I was making, I need to sleep at this time and then I need to sleep for this deep and have this much REM sleep 'cause I track all my stuff via this thing. But what I realized is things are very simple. You could eat when you get hungry and then not eat when you're, you know, once you get full, you stop eating. You know, when it comes to food. When you sleep, you sleep when you need to sleep and you don't sleep when you don't need to sleep. It's very simple, but we put all this pressure, this importance on, I need to do this much, I need to, even when it comes to food, for a long time, I was making it very important that I tracked my food and ate the exact amount of calories every single day. It was very important. And I would track meticulously and I would then like make it very important that I sleep enough. Like my health was, it was becoming imbalanced. And I remember talking to my buddy Victor because he's like a, he was a personal trainer back in the day. And he was like, dude, you're obsessing about it too much and it's actually working against you. And that's when I realized balancing forces, I'm making everything more important. Now I don't need to necessarily track my calories, like calorie by calorie. I know of a general idea of what I eat every day, but I can also intuitively feel it. And then I sleep at night and I just trust, it's an energy of trust and letting go. That makes this way more powerful. But one of the things that I think blocks people from really getting what they want, and also because what they want is like they yearn for it, they need for it, is they haven't linked up their self-image. See yourself where it is natural. The goal is to let it be natural. When I wanted to be on YouTube and I wanted, if I ever imagined myself making the kind of money that I make now and the kind of lifestyle that I have where I travel the world doing what I love and I get to work for myself and work when I want, not when I don't want to, Back in 2017, I would've been like, oh my God, I put it on a pedestal. I can't wait till I'm making that kind of money. It'll be so awesome. And it's funny 'cause back in the day, I probably would've been like, oh, I will buy a Lamborghini or something. I will buy something really nice 'cause then my self-worth will feel even more. And it's funny because now that I've got to a place where I have abundance, it is natural for me to be abundant. It is natural for me to have, you know, I'm not trying to brag here or anything, but it's natural for me to have, I have 3 different houses. That are nice houses. I travel the world when I want. I have the car that I want. I have the lifestyle that I want. And it is natural for me. It's not this really cool thing on a pedestal. It doesn't make me more worthy than anybody else. It doesn't make me more cool than anybody else. It's simply natural. And because it's natural, I'm not like, ooh, I'm not like, that's what happens when people that win the lottery win the lottery. Is it's like, oh my God, it's not natural for their identity. So what happens? People that win the lottery, win, they get sometimes $100 million and they lose it all. Why? Their self-image is not, I'm worth $100 million. Their self-image is, I'm still probably a $30,000 a year person. And this feels very unnatural, so I'm gonna blow it. By the time it becomes natural for you, it's not on a pedestal. You wanna follow your excitement. Doesn't mean you don't feel positive emotion, but what it does mean is it means that it's natural by the time it gets there. So there's like a general thread of passion and excitement, but it's not like, ah, excitement, neediness. It's more so just a general middle way where you're following your passion. This is why also it's important to let yourself feel the emotions so you don't repress or suppress emotions. Sometimes people make it very important that people see them a certain way, so they suppress their emotions. They'll make it very important that no one else feels tension, so they'll suppress their emotions or repress their emotions. You wanna feel what comes up so that you don't make any emotion more important. You feel it, you heal it, and then you allow yourself to raise up. Now, the reason at the— you think about the scale of consciousness, when you get to that of love, love does not create a balancing force of needing to be balanced out. Unconditional love is unconditional. It's only when things are a means to an end that it's a problem. It's almost like in our reality, we came here to learn unconditional love. We came here to learn how to follow our passion. And these lower vibrational emotions, if we make things important, we feel it. If you make it important and like somebody else told you off or something, you make what they say about you very, very important, you get angry about it and you attach to the anger. But the thing is, you allow yourself to feel it, that's okay. but if you stay attached to the story about what happened, you'll continue to create that excess potential and it will come to balance out. And you may be triggered by something and you'll continue that energy and keep that active alive inside of yourself. So for this, what you wanna become aware of is what is natural for your current self-image. Now that I'm where I'm at, here's the funny thing, I would never buy a Lamborghini. I don't wanna buy a car that's like, vroom, vroom, vroom, vroom, vroom, nor do I need to spend $150,000 or $200,000 on a car like that. I'd rather put my money into investments and other things. By the time I've become the version of me that I have become, it is natural for me to live this life. It is natural for me every week to go on the boat here in Austin. It's natural, it's not on a pedestal. It is natural for me to love my, not to think I'm the coolest shit ever, but to love myself and to feel worthy. And to know that everyone else, everything is neutral. Remember, everything is fundamentally neutral. If we give something excess meaning, that's when we put it on a pedestal, that's when we make it more important, and that's when the balancing forces come into play. It's almost like if there's somebody that you were attracted to, and if you could just treat them normal and be normal around them, they would probably like you. But if you make them very important, they will feel that, and they're energetically, the balancing forces come into play and they say, eh, the path of least resistance is probably just not to talk to 'cause it feels weird. So the key to this is letting it be natural for you to be the version of you that is the most authentic, the most expressive, and where you don't make it very important that anyone treats you a certain way and you don't make it very important that you're better than anybody else. It's more natural. And one thing you could do for this is self-image meditation of becoming aware of your self-image and understanding that if you're following your passion because it's who you are, you're not creating that excess potential. When I was making videos on YouTube, if I was like, I need this next video to go viral, I need it to go viral, energetically, it's not gonna go viral. But when I don't care, when I'm not attached to the outcome, this is why people that don't care or don't give a shit are so attractive. Doesn't mean they're in apathy, but when they're not attached to outcome, they're not giving excess meaning, excess importance. For your goals, for your relationships, for everything, if you apply what I share with you in this video, it changes everything. It's the missing key for so many people. Another solution to this is something called humor. Sense of humor will dissipate excess meaning. A sense of humor, having more fun, joking around with your friends, joking even, that's why like sometimes even when people go on dates and they're dating, a sense of humor elevates the emotion, but it also lets go of excess importance. Sense of sarcasm can be very beneficial. That's just me, I have, I'm very sarcastic, so. That's my preferred, you know, sense of humor dialect or whatever you call it. But in general, a sense of humor helps you to dissipate the importance, to allow things to be on an equal playing field. So you could do that. You can realize this mantra and comment this mantra below or just write it down somewhere. I'm good either way. I'm good either way. When you realize it's scarcity mindset to make something very important, I need to get this job, this job interview I'm going on, I need it, then it's on a pedestal. It's very important, scarcity mindset. Like there's not many other things you could be doing. Like there's not, you couldn't start, like you could start your own business, you could start your own passion. There's many other jobs where you could do that. You tell yourself sometimes that in love dynamics, this one person I met, it needs to work out with, as if there's not billions of other people on the planet. Very important, scarcity mindset. Realize there's an abundance. You're good either way. If it's not meant to be, there's something better. I'm good either way. Try to sleep at night. I'm good either way. Whether I do or don't, I'll sleep when I need to. That's it, it dissipates the energy. It dissipates the importance. This is what will really transform your life is when you have this mentality. Doesn't mean you're in apathy. Doesn't mean you don't follow your passion or your excitement, but it means you don't repress energy, you don't repress emotion, you allow yourself to feel, and you realize that you can either want it or you can have it. The vibration of you having it is a different parallel reality than the vibration of you wanting it. I want, I want, I want, which means I lack, I lack, I lack, which means I do not have, I do not have, I do not have. And if you have it and it's natural for you, it's easy. Change yourself, your self-image. This is why giving yourself permission is also an important part of this. I thought about this in the shower last night. I'm gonna make a whole video about this. Give yourself permission. A lot of times we grow up and what we do is we give permission to everybody else. Why? Because we haven't found our own inner authority. Ooh, let that land. We say, mom and dad, tell me, mom and dad, give me permission, teacher, The school third grade teacher gives me permission. I must wait for authority outside of myself to tell me what I can give myself permission to do. We seek frame from other people because that's the way we've been socially conditioned growing up. And my message for you here today is to give yourself permission. Give yourself permission to start. Give yourself permission to love yourself. Give yourself permission to go after that thing that you want. That person that you wanna become. Give yourself permission to start. I gave myself permission back in 2017 to make videos every day and to be a YouTuber. And guess what? My reality shifted. I had to give myself permission. I was waiting for other people to give me permission though. I was waiting to meet Tony Robbins at Barney's New York selling women's shoes for him to tell me, "You have all this potential. You go get started." And then I'd have been like, "Okay, I have permission now." Instead, I gave myself permission and that's when reality began to shift. And so many times I see people that when you start giving yourself permission, that's when things switch around. But give yourself permission and know that it is natural for you to be in this energy. Let it be natural. You're good either way. Let it be natural. Shift your internal self-image by being it. Why are you being it? Because then reality will shift? No, you're being it because it's who you prefer to be. You're not trapped by your past story of the past. Well, I've only been a 30 to 40 to 50K a year person job salary-wise. That's my self-image. No, that's how you've been thinking, feeling, and acting. You are who you choose to be right now, and every moment's a new moment. You will experience the parallel reality version of you that you want when you give yourself permission to be it and you choose it. Not when you want it and you, from your old self-image, say, oh, that'd be so awesome. You can shift like this. You can shift like this. You can shift like this, 'cause every moment's a new moment, and every moment you are a new version of you. So let it be easy. Let yourself shift. I'm now shifting out of just making lots of YouTube videos every week. I don't make 5 videos a week anymore. I just make 'em when I feel like it, because now I'm shifting to an identity of doing live events and running retreats and doing things that I wanna do. You can shift like this when you make the choice. So this is what changes everything when you begin to apply this. Now, your vibration is what dictates what reality you experience.
