Watch her find out why 3 YEARS of inner work kept her STUCK in 13 minutes

After three years of retreats and ayahuasca, a woman feels stuck. Aaron Doughty explains that trying to escape a situation keeps you tied to it. He argues expectations about how change should feel are ego-driven beliefs that recreate the same pattern in new circumstances.

Okay, I've been doing the work for the last 3 years. When is this change going to come?
Because we're trying to escape it, we're energetically tied to it. Whatever problems you have and challenges you have in relationship, you can change the faces. But if that pattern's still inside of you, you'll find it in different faces. My content over the years has changed quite a bit around manifestation. It comes from this place of like almost ego grandiosity in a way. The things that keep people stuck the most How can you let go of expectations?
Every time I do a new method or a retreat, you mentioned it, ayahuasca, family constellation, how do you let go of expecting the result, the outcome? You know, like, just seeing what's next or what's changing.
Yeah.
How can you, you know, like, if you can kind of talk about that, like, how to let go of expectations after doing any type of healing work.
Do you assume that we have completely have no expectations? We do. Manifest differently for each of us. Yeah. Right. Yeah.
And it, it, for me, it feels hard.
Yes.
You know, I feel like, oh my God, I'm doing the work. I am doing so much. Of course, you know, it's a couple of years. I'm fairly new to this, but it's— I've done so much. It's so fast. And so it's like I'm always just— it feels like I'm waiting for, you know, what I'm expecting to be changed.
What are you expecting to be changed?
My life.
Yeah.
Just like, you know, it just feels like, okay, I did, you know, whatever work I've done is like, it's supposed to be for, uh, you know, for, for me to go to the next level. For—
How hard does it have to be for you to change your life?
It feels like it has to be hard.
Yeah. See, that's where it's powerful to get aware of those beliefs. Because if we believe the process of change has to be very long, And a lot of pain and a lot of struggle in order for us to make a change, we may be kind of caught up in a process that feels very long. So the beliefs that we have about the process, I find very much influence the process. So when I think of change, it's like things can happen very quickly.
Mm-hmm.
As well. When I came in here yesterday, I had expectation for how I wanted some of those sessions to go. It was like I had an expectation and I knew that like I shouldn't have an expectation, but there were moments of my energy that I would oscillate between being unattached, not attached to outcome, to being like, this is where the group needs to go next. And it was this like balance, but it came, it would come up.
Mm-hmm.
And it was, it was something that I'm aware of. And then today coming in, it's, it's completely different. There's much more surrender in the process. There's much more of, um, there's, there, there's like a different energy that I've come to accept. And it happened very quick.
Mm-hmm.
Once I changed the energy, the expectations I have and the way that I like look at expectations, it's, it's once again kind of like the middle way. Yeah. Where it's, it's a pro— you, you learn as you go. And it's easy on theory to say you shouldn't have expectations, but But who's to say that's even true?
Right.
Who's to say you shouldn't have expectations?
I don't know.
I mean— Master level status, right?
Yeah. It just feels like, you know, everybody just says, well, just let it go. Just let it go. Well, my only thing is I'm expecting. So, you know, that's the only thing I feel like I need to let go of is just that expectation that I have.
Where do you find this expectation is driving you the most crazy? Because I have expectations with all sorts of stuff. Certain ones really bring up my neurotic side, though. So for you, which one in particular caused you to even come up and ask us? Is it with events like this? You expecting to—
So this is my first time actually becoming brave enough. I thought about it since yesterday. Earlier today, and I was like, "Well, there goes my chance. I'm not going to be able to ask anymore because I don't feel like I have the bravery to ask because I'm scared that it's not going to come out right or I'm not going to be understood correctly." That's the one thing, right? And then the other thing is it feels like I have so much that I have uncovered that was blocked. The last maybe 3 years that it just feels like my whole life was due to that trauma that was blocked for so long that it just feels like, okay, I've been doing the work for the last 3 years. When is this change going to come? When is— when are things going to change for me?
Yeah.
And so I feel like it just feels like I've done so much. I'm doing the work. I'm doing so much.
What if What if part of the level you're at, the key is coming at peace with where you are? Now, real quick, before you go more into the video, have you calibrated your level of consciousness yet and received a meditation for getting to the next level? I have a free quiz that you can go through that will show you your current level of consciousness as well as give you a meditation for raising it to the next level. So if you haven't done this yet, go ahead and click the link below. Go ahead and calibrate your vibration, get a meditation, and watch how after 21 days you notice your energy shift. Many times when we're trying to get to another level, we haven't completely accepted the level that we're at.
Mm-hmm.
That creates resistance, that creates expectation, and because we're trying to escape it, We're energetically tied to it. I remember the last couple months I ever had a 9-to-5 job. I chose that in this 9-to-5 job, I'm going to completely accept that I have to be here for 8 hours a day. I could be making YouTube videos right now cuz my YouTube channel was starting to grow, but I totally accepted that I was there.
Mm-hmm.
And I totally appreciated it in a weird way cuz I knew it was like the last time I was gonna have a 9-to-5 job. 5 years prior to that, I quit my job on a whim because I was going to ascend into the 5th dimension. So, I made a choice that I'm going to take this slow because that harsh change that I made came with a lot of pain.
Okay.
So, I chose I'm going to completely come at peace with the level that I'm at. And expectation really has an energy of I want to leave where I'm at. Where I'm at is not good enough. Mm-hmm. And if I come over here, then this is gonna solve my problem. But often what I find is that that's a mind, that's a belief that the mind has, because whatever problems you have and challenges you have in relationship or challenges you have with business, you can change some of the pieces around. You can change the faces, but if that pattern's still inside of you, you'll find it in different faces.
Yes.
You'll find it in different circumstances.
Mm-hmm.
So the pattern follows you. So the pattern of the expectation may be the expectation is an almost subconscious ego mechanism to get you from here to here. The belief is that this expectation is going to control the outcome and get you from over here, from here to here. But in fact, what I found is that the more I surrender to where I'm at, And instead of focusing on expectation, I focus on actually accepting the process, accepting where I'm at.
Okay.
It's a different way that I relate to it. And then as I take action into a new thing, there's more surrender to God or the divine. And ultimately, this is why a lot of my content over the years has changed quite a bit around manifestation, because manifestation is a very sexy idea when it's like, okay, A lot of times it comes from the ego. It's like, I want to think about it, I want to feel it, I'm gonna take action as it, and then I'm gonna experience it. So it's the known, it's the known, it's the known, and then I experience it and I had something to do with it. So it become— it comes from this place of like almost ego grandiosity in a way. So what I find is I've made less and less content over, over the years, even though deep down I believe there is a correlation between what we think and what we experience.
Mm-hmm.
But the expectation, a lot of times what I found within myself is it's almost like my insistence that I know what's best because the scary unknown, which is where God is, in the past I was in the sandbox playing, something happened, fear came, and I didn't feel safe.
Mm-hmm.
So I then expected, I then controlled, or I would focus in a certain way. So Let this be maybe an invitation to focus on realizing that your ability to become at peace with where you are may be the ability you have to let go of that stuck feeling or stuck energy.
Okay.
Because sometimes the things that keep people stuck the most is simply the belief that they are stuck. It's the story that they're stuck.
It's like a feeling as if, um, if I stop doing The work, or God forbid, I don't think it before I go to sleep. It's like it's not gonna happen now. And that it almost feels like I have to continuously do something.
Yep.
And I'm just like, okay, when does this stop? Like, yes, it's almost like I want someone to come and tell me, like, stop, just stop already.
Yeah. Very often as kids, we look to our parents. like we were mentioning yesterday, to say, who do I need to be to be enough or to be worthy? And often what we can get is we can end up receiving this belief that I am, like what I do is going to be what makes up my sense of self-worth. I need to do more to become more successful. So, what happens is that mechanism then becomes the filter or we could even say the frame through which we see reality is the more that I do, the more that I will then have work done, have a different outcome. Doing can get us great results, but doing from a place of desperation to get out of where we are can create a lot of resistance as well. So, the— and then also when we're asking, like, sometimes I think I, for a long time, working at Barney's New York, was waiting for someone to tell me to go for it. I had this idea. Some of you probably heard it before, that I was going to meet Tony Robbins selling women's shoes, and he was going to see me, and now he's going to help his wife. And then he was going to say, Aaron, I see all this potential in you. You just got to start making videos. And I was going to say, thanks, Tony. You really think so? And then I would just commit to daily videos, and then eventually my channel would take off. And I literally, that was my, that was what I was hoping would happen. I was waiting for someone outside of me to tell me to go for it and to do it. And eventually I had to kind of get rid of that. I had to kind of let go of that expectation. And part of that actually what ended up happening a few months later is I actually ended up helping Sage Robbins. Funny enough, I helped her like a couple months later. And I helped her and her assistant, and it was this cool experience, and I was talking to her about Tony and stuff like that, but she didn't invite me to hang out with Tony, you know? And I was like, oh, it didn't work, you know? I had another moment where I helped Jack Canfield. Any of you know Jack Canfield? I helped him. He was in the movie The Secret, and I helped him with shoes in a very synchronous way. He was grabbing actually clothes, and there was no one in the clothes department, so he came over to me to get it rung up, and I recognized him, and then he had a black Amex. And I was like, who is this guy? He looked kind of familiar, but a little older than I, like, like he looked a little different, you know? And then I saw who it was and I was like, I was like super cheesy. I was like, I want to do what you do one day. And he was like, oh, well, I have this, here's my business card. I have something in Scottsdale that's called the Training for Trainers. And he gave it to me and it's $20,000 to go to. So I was like, okay, well, I don't have that money to go to it. However, it was one of those moments. And it was like, I was like, are these signs that someone's gonna tell me to go for it? But ultimately, what eventually shifted was when I became the authority for myself to just go for it. There's something inside of me had to shift. And that was really what allowed that momentum and that energy to begin to move. So, allow yourself to maybe self-reflect right now. Is there something in your life that you've been holding off and you just want Victor Ai to be up here to be like, You can let go of expectation. And you're like, thank you, yes, I can. Right? Or I can look at this, or whatever it is. You can be the one to look at these energies inside of yourself, to look at your relationship to them, to accept parts of them that maybe you haven't accepted in the past, or to decide what that is for you.
