Watch This If You're Struggling With Your Self-Worth

Aaron Doughty explains how childhood neglect creates deep shame that blocks love and abundance. He uses the Still-Face Experiment to show how unmet emotional needs dysregulate kids, then teaches inner-child meditation and visualization during sleep transitions to reprogram your subconscious belief that you're unworthy.

Why is it that some people, it's easy for them to attract love or abundance, or they find themselves feeling worthy of what they experience in their life, and then other people find themselves coming up with blocks? They feel frustrated. They feel like they may consciously want to attract a relationship, or they consciously want to attract that of more abundance, but that there's something underneath the surface that's literally blocking it. From actually happening. It all comes down to one word. That word is worthiness. You can only experience in life that which you believe you are worthy of. And what we will be doing in this video is I'm gonna be showing you how to actually heal from the inside out. Some of the deepest practices that I've learned about worthiness that have allowed me to go from working a 9-to-5 job I hate feeling trapped in bad relationship cycles, and then feeling worthy, whole, and complete to live the life of my dreams, have healthier relationships, and allow myself to really experience a completely new reality as a reflection of feeling worthy on the inside. So in this video, you're gonna learn step by step how I did it and how you can do it too in a process I have literally shown to at least 30,000 or 40,000 people who have been to either live events or my 21-day challenges. And you're gonna get it in this video so that you know exactly step by step what to do to feel worthy, whole, and complete so that you attract the money, the abundance you deserve. One of the most common things that will block people from attracting love, abundance, or anything is the belief and the subconscious energy of shame. I'm broken. There's something wrong with me. Now what happens is that in order to avoid the feeling of this shame, of this belief, we will create this persona. We'll create this addiction to validation and approval that then is inauthentic and has us chasing the wrong things. Now, if you think about it though, One of the ways that this may have developed is you think about the energy of a kid. And really the key to feeling 100% worthy, whole, and complete is going back to the time where you decided you weren't. The time when you decided it was your fault. Think of maybe your parents divorcing when you were a kid, if your parents did divorce. Think about a little kid when their parents are divorcing. I know my parents divorced when I was 5 years old. And even though I'm intellectually now like, of course when I was 5 years old, I could have known that my parents just weren't meant for each other and it just was better that they broke apart. But as a kid, we internalize everything. So if mom and dad divorce, maybe they divorced because I wasn't good enough. Maybe they divorced because I wasn't quiet enough or what if I could have done something that would've got them to stay together? Obviously didn't work out. Because maybe there's something wrong with me. Or if maybe when you were a baby or younger as a toddler, if mom or dad was not physically or emotionally available to your needs, subconsciously as a kid, once again, it's our fault. I did something wrong. Maybe mom or dad not physically or emotionally being able to meet my needs is because there's something wrong with me. So what happens is there's some form of shame. There's some form of belief that I'm not worthy. And what happens is then as an adult, we still feel not worthy and we still feel blocked. Now, one of the most powerful things that I have found through literally tens of thousands of people that I've coached at live events or in my 21-day challenges is that one of the most powerful things you can do is to actually go back into your timeline and to connect with that inner child. That feels not worthy, whole, and complete. There's this experiment called the Still Frame Experiment. Well, what they do is they put a mom with her baby, and what they do is they do this experiment called the Still Face Experiment, where what happens is this beautiful display between the mom and the baby. They're interacting, and the baby's going goo goo ga ga. The mom's mirroring the baby's emotions. It's this beautiful display of mirroring of emotions where the baby feels seen, seen, heard, soothed, and nurtured. As a part of the experiment, the mom then looks away. When the mom comes back, she has a still face, no expression whatsoever. After about 5 seconds of this, the baby starts to get kind of uncomfortable and is like, "What the heck's going on?" The baby then points because normally when the baby points, mom looks, and mom doesn't look. So the baby starts protest behaviors to get mom to come back. She starts screaming, she starts laughing, goo goo ga ga, mom's not coming back. Mom has a still face as a part of the experiment. After about a minute or two, the baby gets so uncomfortable and so in so much tension that the baby cannot even bear to witness the still face and the lack of emotion from mom that the baby contorts her spine and tries looking away because what she is seeing is so painful. And then what happens after that is mom looks back at the baby, starts engaging with the baby 'cause the experiment is over. The baby's crying, by the way. And the baby then feels seen, heard, soothed, and nurtured again. So what happens is if we as a kid didn't feel our needs being met, we may have started to get uncomfortable, anxious, and to avoid that level of shame, we may have tried to be someone else, maybe to be more quiet, Maybe to go play in our room alone. And what happens is that becomes a mechanism where still underneath the surface is there's a feeling of I'm not whole and complete. There's something wrong with me. So just like in the experiment, what were the phases of that experiment? The mom and the baby are engaging emotions. She's mirroring the emotions. The baby feels seen, heard, soothed, and nurtured. Second part of the experiment, mom turns away. Baby feels chaotic. Baby feels dysregulated. The baby's thinking, Subconsciously, something wrong with me, something wrong with mom, what's going on? Internalization. And then the third step, mom comes back and regulates the baby's nervous system. Now, one of the things that many of us have never experienced is that third stage of that process is connecting to your own inner child and seeing, hearing, soothing, and nurturing that own inner child part of you so that you can start to feel seen, heard, soothed, and nurtured and you begin to relax and realize it wasn't your fault that mom and dad weren't present as a kid. It's not your fault if your parents divorced. As a kid, you thought it was your fault, and that's why you feel unworthy. That's why now if you're dating someone, you might feel like, how could they like me? There's something wrong with me. And you end up avoiding your own levels of authenticity because there's a fear that there's gonna be rejection. 'Cause when you were a baby, you were probably just being yourself. Then something happened. I can't just be me. I can't be authentic. I can't give myself permission because I don't want rejection or abandonment. But the initial rejection and abandonment had already happened. So really the key to you feeling 100% worthy, whole, and complete is you nurturing, seeing, hearing, and soothing the inner child part of you that still feels not validated, that's still looking for mom and dad to meet their needs, that's still trying to get their needs met, that's maybe looking for it in dating, looking for it in business and success. When in fact, if you were to give that to your own inner child, you would start to regulate your own nervous system and you would then find that you feel more abundant, you feel more worthy, and you feel more complete. One of the most powerful ways to heal your own inner child is to go into a meditation. Because think about it, when you are a kid, you're primarily in a theta state. There's a theta state, there's the alpha state, and the beta state at brainwave activities. Now what happens in a theta state from 0 to 6 years old, you're primarily in theta state. You're absorbing the beliefs of your parents, which think about it, That's why we internalize everything so young, right? We're absorbing everything. We're literally sponges and we're determining meaning that's given to us. That happens. Now what happens is then as we get into 7 to 15 years old, right around puberty, we're in primarily theta and alpha. Alpha state is also influencing of the subconscious mind. And it's a little bit less as deep as theta, but nonetheless, it's a, way of influencing the subconscious mind. Even now when you watch television, you go into theta state. Certain meditations or certain practices will put you into alpha state. But then what happens is in beta state, that's the more alert, present, uh, state of consciousness that is the least option to influence the subconscious mind. About puberty onwards, we're primarily in that of beta state. Now what happens is in meditation, you are able to go back to theta state so that you can reprogram your subconscious mind. So the, and the other, the other option for this too that I recommend, there's two different threads of this. One is meditation because you get into a theta state and what you can do is literally go back into your timeline and reconnect with that inner child. You can see it, hear it, soothe it, and nurture it. And I have a free meditation you can check out if you wanna just go through this process process. You just listen to it and you go through the visualization. You also energetically go to Kauai, Hawaii to connect to the energy, 'cause they say that's one of the birthplaces where souls come into our reality. I know it's an esoteric teaching, but it's energetically, we go to that place and what we do is we allow ourselves to connect to our own inner child. It's one of my most popular meditations. I'll go ahead and link it below so that you can check it out. It's in my free High Vibe Tribe community. It's an inner child meditation you can listen to whenever you want, but go through that and watch what happens. Now, the next thing you can do as well to influence your subconscious mind is when you drift off to sleep at night, you are going from beta to alpha to theta state. Now, what happens is as you drift off for about half an hour, you have this window where you can influence yourself subconsciously. And what you wanna do is you want to visualize yourself in your heart and you want to visualize yourself feeling worthy, whole, and complete. And what you wanna do is you want to feel it as if it's here now. And as you do that, you think about what you want to experience and the kind of reality you want to live in and you feel it as if it's here now inside of your heart, you begin to influence your subconscious mind. Now, when you wake up in the morning, there's also that window. Instead of going from beta to alpha to theta, when you wake up in the morning, you're going from theta to alpha to beta. There's a window of time to feel the love inside of your heart, to begin opening your heart. And as you do that, what happens is you end up feeling that expansion and you end up influencing your subconscious mind in a very powerful way. Now, if we do take this one step even further, even more powerful than these practices that I'm talking about right now. One of the things that you can begin to do to really heal this shame, because think about shame, shame wants to hide in the dark. The shame is afraid of not being worthy, whole, and complete. The key is vulnerability. Vulnerability. Vulner means wound and ability is ability. So it's the ability to go into the wound, the ability to show the wound, the ability to, to be present with that energy. That's where the power really is. The cure to shame is to shine light of awareness on it. And by you being present with the part of you that feels shame, whether it's an inner child part of you or it's the shame itself, you begin to complete the past and you begin to heal it from the inside out. It's some of the deepest work that you can possibly do. And that's why I believe meditation's such a powerful way to go about healing it. Inner child healing has completely transformed my own life. It has allowed me to go deeper within myself to release the part of myself as an inner child that did not feel seen, heard, soothed, and nurtured. And when I think about how different my energy is now to how it used to be, it's completely different. Where back 3 or 4 years ago, there was this sensitive kid part of me. I remember even my mom telling me that as a kid, you were very quiet. And I thought to myself, 'cause I didn't think of myself initially as a really quiet kid, Thought about it, I was like, maybe I was. She said, you're very sensitive and quiet and always kind of looking around and kind of like analyzing what was going on. Now, what I could definitely tell though is that in the past there was this sensitive part of me that could feel other people's emotions and energies and felt responsible for other people's tension. So I'd have trouble setting boundaries, I'd have trouble expressing the real me. There was a part of me that, you know, I think I worked in the service industry for so many years selling women's shoes because it was like, helping other people, but there was definitely a part of me that I had to shed. And that part of me was a people pleaser energy that definitely came from both my mom and my dad. And it was something I had to become aware of, was a survival mechanism that my inner child was using to not feel tension. Now, what ended up happening is I remember I was in Sedona, there were certain aspects of my life that felt unbalanced. It was hard for me to set boundaries. It was, I felt kind of stuck and frustrated with myself and even frustrated at the past part of me that had become aware of all these times I said yes when I didn't really wanna say yes. And I was kind of judging that part of myself. But eventually what I did is I decided that instead of living according to the value of wanting other people's validation or wanting them to, I'm gonna start living to the value of authenticity and vulnerability. And what happened is when I started to live according to that frame and I started to express the real me, everything in my life started to change. What that meant too is I had to have conversations with people to reestablish the dynamic. And it was something that those conversations required a certain level of tension to step into. But as I did, it was like every time I did it, it was reframing my sense of identity. I started to feel more empowered and I realized that even though I wasn't mitigating my frame to get people's tension to go away, there'd be respect there. People would respect me when I would stand in the firm decision of who I was and of what I felt. And remember, part of the key to curing shame is vulnerability, which means sharing how you really think and feel, sharing your, sharing your emotions without feeling like you have to hold them back or abandoning yourself. So what happened is as I would start having these conversations with people, as I would start standing in my power, I started to feel more magnetic. And also it was reaffirming that this is who you choose to be. Now it is so much easier for me to set boundaries with people. I'm in my own frame of reality. And it's all because I gave space for that inner child part of me to real, and almost to teach that part of me that tension is okay. Tension is actually a good thing because it leads to growth. And the more I've nurtured that aspect of myself, the more I started to feel worthy because I respect me. I have a higher level of integrity now. When I say I'm gonna do something, I do it. And that also works with confidence within myself because I know I'm gonna stand up for myself. I'm gonna protect the inner child part of myself that did not feel protected growing up. I think growing up with a narcissistic ex-stepmom in my life, there was so much control there that there was a feeling like I wasn't protected. There was a feeling like a lack of trust that was there. So what I had to do is I had to start trusting myself. I had to start protecting that inner child part of me. And as I did that, I started to feel more confident inside of myself and I started to give space and more permission for me to actually express the real emotions that I had, which led to me feeling more free and more in my own power. If you wanna go deeper on understanding how to really unroot feelings of unworthiness, I have a video that I did from a recent live event from this last year in Los Angeles where I'm on stage teaching, even going deeper on all these concepts. If you're someone that can feel other people's energies, this video will help you understand more about that dynamic. And then also I share with you how to go deeper into the first 5 years of your life and what you experienced and how that energetic pattern keeps playing itself out, how to heal it. What I learned from a session with Dr. Mark Woolam, who wrote the book, It Didn't Start With You. And in this video, I show you step by step exactly how to transform in a very powerful way so that you feel worthy, whole, and complete on the inside. And I'll go ahead and link that video right here. So empaths, people that can feel other people's energy. This is both a superpower
