What they DON'T tell you About Manifestation.

In this video Aaron Doughty critiques the mainstream, entitlement‑driven version of manifestation that he likens to manipulation, arguing that it operates from a low‑vibration, ego‑centric desire to control the universe. He introduces a higher‑vibration perspective rooted in the "be‑do‑have" hierarchy, where true manifestation emerges from becoming a person who naturally embodies love, abundance, and purpose, rather than trying to force specific outcomes. Doughty emphasizes the importance of inner work—soothing the inner child, uncovering subconscious motives, and raising personal standards—to dissolve the shadow side of the law of attraction, which often reflects unresolved childhood needs and toxic patterns. He discusses the "backwards law" (letting go increases control), the symbolic nature of visualization (a feeling state rather than a literal script), and the concept of balanced forces that block overly important desires. Throughout, he advocates for present‑moment awareness, reduced mental chatter, and aligning with a divine, higher‑consciousness reality that allows abundance to arise naturally. The video concludes with a call to shift focus from wanting to being, and offers a linked deeper dive into techniques for thinking less and raising vibration.

What if there is a dark side to manifestation that is not only low vibration but also toxic? Even think about the word manifest, very similar to the word manipulate, both using mani, which has a meaning in hands, meaning a lot of times when people are trying to manifest, the focus is on manipulating the universe to give them what they need. Think about it. Someone's like, I'm going to manifest a specific person into my life. I'm going to manipulate someone else to like me. I want to manifest getting this thing and all of this money. There is a connotation of getting, receiving that comes from an energy many times of entitlement. Now, what I want to do in this video is show you something more powerful than manifestation that I believe is rooted in a higher vibrational understanding of how the universe works, but it also takes a lot of the ego out of it because ultimately the ego wants to control, the ego wants to feel powerful. So when you say, I want to attract love, I want all of this abundance, there is a desire that the ego may have to get its needs met when there is actually a whole divine reality where if you were to allow things to happen and not try to control, you'd allow more love, more joy, more abundance in your life, but it would be coming from a different place, from literally a higher level of consciousness. So when I learned this, by the way, I stopped making a lot of YouTube videos on manifestation. Like you probably haven't seen me in a long time make videos of how to manifest, because for me, it's more about who are you becoming and is who are you becoming adding value out into the world? You wanna make it natural for your identity You want to become the kind of person that naturally is in a loving relationship, but not attached to who that is and how those needs are met. You wanna be the person that naturally is in abundance doing what you love, and naturally as a reflection gets to live the lifestyle that you love. And that's why I always have focused over the last couple years mainly on just that kind of teaching. Because when you think of vibration, a lot of people may want to, on the scale of consciousness, escape out of the lower vibrational survival emotions and they wanna go into high vibrational emotion. But the way that they think about going about it is a lot of times kind of entitled. It was for me back in 2017. It was literally like I was trying to manifest my dream life being on YouTube by thinking about it. By imagining it, by visualizing it. That's literally the extent to which it was. I would like sit on a couch, I would visualize it. I wasn't necessarily making videos, but someone was gonna put me on. I was gonna manifest it. I was gonna manifest it and I was gonna meet Tony Robbins or some other influential person while I was selling women's shoes, working at Nordstrom or at Barney's New York in women's shoes. And that literally was this entitled idea that I had until I realized that no one was gonna put me on. I had to become it. And most people that want to win the lottery, I wanna manifest winning the lottery. It's a similar type energy. I wanna manifest it. I'm just gonna manifest it. I wanna manifest a specific person. This person's gonna love me. Think about the energy of that. Is that not manipulative or toxic? I look, I'm going to get what I want from the universe. This person's going to come around. I'm going to watch a video on how to attract a specific person into my life. This person's not coming around right now, but they will come around soon because I'm going to manifest that. I'm going to manifest there is this manipulative energy and it's controlling. Like imagine, let's imagine just the energy dynamic here of imagine being a parent, imagine being a kid and your parents like, you better not do this, you better not do that and you better not do this and do this for me. What do you wanna do as a natural byproduct of what they said? Out of fear you might do it, but you also might be like, they're being controlling and I don't wanna do it. I know when someone wants me to do something, I can feel that pressure and energy and a lot of times I just won't do it or I don't wanna do it. But if they just relaxed a little bit, they didn't want it so bad, they weren't trying to manipulate me. I think because I felt manipulated as a kid, there's a part of me that like repels against that kind of weird needy energy. But I would maybe naturally do it if that weird energy wasn't there. And you've probably experienced that before too where someone really, really wanted something from you and you just didn't wanna give it to them. There's like resistance to it. Well, in the same way, imagine with the universe, it's like, I'm gonna manifest it. I'm gonna manifest that person coming back into my life. I'm gonna manifest the ex back. Where's the YouTube video I can watch that's gonna help me do this? I'm gonna manifest this. I'm gonna manifest. I'm gonna manifest. Which is like, I'm gonna manipulate. I'm gonna manipulate. I'm gonna manipulate. What if there's a divine, connection to reality where you could just allow things and it was like you're in alignment with your purpose, you're in alignment with adding value onto the world, and then it just comes as a natural byproduct of that. Because ultimately when things have gotten the best for me and when I have had the biggest results, it's come from the energy and the vibration of being. Now let's look at the difference here, okay? Be, do, and have. These are 3 different levels of consciousness, you could say. You could say that when people are in the lower vibrational emotions of survival, they're focused on having. Like, I don't have it and I want it. I want it, I want it, I want it. Like Ariana Grande's song where like, I want it, I got it. I want it, I got it. I want it, I got it. Okay? It's like, I want it, I want it. I'm sitting on the couch envisioning like me being on YouTube. I want it, I don't have it. And then eventually I moved into doing and doing. And now a lot of times doing is a means to an end. How long do I have to do that before I'm a full-time YouTuber? How many videos do I have to make before I'm full-time on YouTube? That's like the energy. How much do I have to do that? But when you actually are it, when you're being it, it's an end of itself. So here's the funny thing too. When you're being it, you enjoy the process. It's less manipulative and it's an end of itself. And here's the way that reality works. You get a reflection, you get a reflection, a flack, you get a reflection of who you are being. When I started to be a full-time YouTuber, my reality very quickly shifted. It's an end of itself. And the reason it's not manipulative is because I'm not doing it to get a certain end. Manipulative is when like, if you are manipulating someone else, even subconsciously, you might be getting them to do something you want them to do. You might be trying to encourage them to do something to get their validation or approval, for example. Sometimes this is where people a lot of times also aren't aware of the deeper shadow aspect. This is the dark side to the law of attraction that most people aren't aware of. Okay, let's get into this part now. The shadow side of the law of attraction is that many people want what they want, but they don't know why they want it. I just want this, I want this person to come back into my life. Well, what you really want at the deepest fundamental level is this person to you may represent mom and you really want mom to come back. This person you're trying to prove it to, maybe you trying to get dad's approval and validation. But the interesting dark side of this is that what feels familiar is what you attract. If it's familiar to have a toxic narcissistic person in your life, you've probably normalized that. And guess what? Reality will reflect that. And you may say, I don't want this in my life. I wanna attract healthy people or I wanna attract different relationships, but this is familiar. So the dark side of the law of attraction is that it is completely surface level A lot of times. I want this on the surface. I want this on the surface. I want this on the surface. Why do you even want that? If you started doing the inner work and you soothed, saw, heard, and nurtured the inner child part of you that wants that person to come back, you might realize that person's not even good for you. That person can't even love you because they don't even love themselves. You'd then maybe raise your sense of standard within yourself and you start treating yourself better and then you would attract more relationships reflective of that energy. Do you see the difference here? So yes, many times it is toxic when it's become normalized to manipulate reality with your hands at the throat of the universe saying, give me what I want, I want this. And sometimes even it's a very entitlement energy. People that just feel entitled. And when you work for something and you love it, but sometimes there's maybe parts of it you don't absolutely love. Like when I was first getting on YouTube, I mean, I had to edit all my YouTube videos. I wasn't like, I'm so passionate about editing videos. I just love my life, every little aspect of it. But I did it because I had to become the version of me that was a full-time YouTuber. And that meant learning editing. Did editing for a year, then I hired someone to do it. But do you see the diff— you become the person, you be it, and you do the inner work. The inner work means looking below the surface, not just at the surface level of what you want, of what you're trying to manipulate, but also understand the ego wants to get its needs met. There is a higher divine part of you that could allow, and if you were to allow, things beyond what you can even imagine would come into your life. So there's a trusting of the universe that happens as you become aware of this. There's a trusting of understanding there's a divine aspect to reality where you don't have to control. There's this Alan Watts quote that I like. It has to do with the backwards law. I'm gonna make another video on this soon, but the more you will feel more in control, the more you let go. And the more you hold on and the more you try to control, the more out of control you will feel. It's backwards, it's called the backwards law. Is that interesting? Think about that. The more you try to control things, the more attached you are, the more out of control you feel. The more you let go, the more in control you feel because it's your allowing, you're not infusing resistance. You'll find that when you're not attached, it's like things just happen for you and you can find safety in that. The thing is, is if you found safety for so long in childhood with having to control things, it might be like it's a certainty mechanism I have to where I think of what I want and I have to experience it. Here's an important understanding for visualization that I think can completely change your life. When you visualize what you want to experience, it's not that what you are visualizing has to come to fruition the exact way you visualize it. What you are visualizing is a symbol of a state of being you feel on the inside. And as you feel it on the inside, you will then experience more synchronicity and opportunity reflective of that feeling. What if the universe has even more that's at possible stakes for you to experience, but you limit yourself 'cause you're like, no, it has to happen in this exact way and this is how it has to look and this is what it is. It's not the exact visualization, it must not be it. It's a symbol to feel a certain way. And when you are being it and you're following the energy of passion, you're in that frequency. So instead of focusing on doing to then get, or even having, which is I want, focus on being it. Don't focus on getting the love, taking it and manipulating reality. Focus instead on the inner work you can do to become aware of what your inner child, how that inner child wants to be seen, heard, soothed, and nurtured. Then you're doing the inner work. Now here's another thing that's important to understand is what's called balanced forces. And importance. Anything you make really, really important, you put on a pedestal. And there's these balancing forces in our reality that come to block what you want if you really want it and to balance it out. This comes from a book called Reality Transurfing. Very powerful idea. But more importance, put on a pedestal, maybe further away from you. This is why you wanna make it natural for your identity natural for your sense of identity. You wanna allow yourself to shift how you view yourself on the inside. What is your inner self-image? Because we are doing everything we can to remain consistent to how we define ourself. And if you define yourself as somebody that works a 9 to 5 job that you hate, you'll do everything subconsciously to keep working that 9 to 5 job you hate because that is familiar. So when you start, when I started becoming a YouTuber, I'm like, well, this isn't who I am. This isn't who I am. I don't speak on camera. It's just that I haven't done that enough. I haven't done that enough. I haven't done that enough. I must be it. And then as I was being it, it started to feel more and more natural. You become it by putting in repetition. But I was becoming it to be it, not just to escape my 9-to-5 job I didn't like. This is when you start also getting more into the present moment because realize when you're in love, joy, peace, Those emotions just are. They're not a means to an end. You're just present to the moment. You're not even thinking thoughts. At the higher vibrational emotions, you're not thinking thoughts. And there's a higher level of manifestation here that is available to you when you stop thinking and you start being. Now, I do have a very powerful video that will show you step by step how to think less to raise your vibration and how that changes everything, I'm gonna go ahead and link this video right here. Watch it, it's one of my most powerful concepts I've ever taught. In this video, I wanna show you the most important and powerful insight I have ever shared.
