When someone reacts badly to your boundaries, that's their problem, not yours. Most people skip boundaries because they feel guilty about others' emotions, but you're not responsible for managing how people feel about your limits. Setting them reclaims your power.
Chapters
If you set boundaries with someone and they don't like it, realize that that's their stuff to deal with, not yours. Sometimes what can happen is people that have trouble setting boundaries feel guilty or responsible for how other people feel. So sometimes they will resist setting boundaries or expressing how they feel because they don't want to make someone else feel negative emotion. Here's the thing though, it's not your responsibility to please everyone. It's not your responsibility to abandon yourself at the expense of someone else. And because of that, the power comes when you begin to actually express how you feel and set boundaries when it feels like it's necessary. So realize that this is just about a process of you coming into your own power. And as you do that, you make space for the things that do resonate and you move out the things that maybe no longer resonate or give them a chance to transform.
