3 projets intéressants pour commencer une reconversion en informatique

Three practical projects to learn IT: set up a website on a cheap VPS with OVH and Cloudflare, migrate it to AWS and Azure, then move it back to a local VMware server. You'll touch DNS, networking, virtualization, and cost management across all three major clouds.

Approximately €6–7 per month.
Domain registration example: Gandi (gandi.net). DNS/reverse-proxy example: Cloudflare (free DNS service).
Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Four (or depending on budget, four or eight) IPv4 addresses.
VMware ESXi (request a free license from VMware/"vwar.com" as stated).
Hello, my friends. We talked about it yesterday and lots of people contact me saying, okay, I have time, I'm motivated, I'd like to start. But where do I start? How do I start? Today, I'm going to give you three practical exercises that you can do over the next few weeks, or two or three months, if you want, at your own pace. But these are very important exercises because the elements they include weren't chosen at random. They are elements corresponding to technologies or things that you need to familiarize yourself with before even approaching a recruiter. These are things, technologies, building blocks that are used in the business world in a fairly ubiquitous, fairly general way. At the outset, with these exercises, it's about establishing a sort of fundamental base. What I hope is that during these exercises you will discover an aspect of technology that you will find easy to use, or that you will develop a passion for, maybe even both, which will later become something that you will develop and become an expert in. But first you will need to build some fundamentals. So, without further ado, first exercise, we need two things for this exercise and for the others. You need a computer. What I am going to show you will not work on an iPad or a phone. And also important, ideally a large screen. Even if you have a laptop, connect it to a large screen. I will also need a credit card, a debit card or something similar. I'm not trying to sell you anything, but you will have to pay for a couple of things online if you want to do these exercises. So first, go to OVH and get a virtual machine. Rent a VPS server. A virtual machine. This machine does not need to be the most powerful. Get one at €6 or €7 per month, no more. That will be more than enough for the exercise. Also, go somewhere. Go to Gandi, for example, just to give you an example. You can go elsewhere if you want. Go to gandi.net and get a domain name. Register a domain name in dot com. That will be your domain name. You know, you can't be a computer scientist if you don't have a domain name, if you don't have a website. We're working on that now while learning the technology. Okay, you have a domain. You have a virtual machine. Virtual machine installer. You ask us to install. Just click in the menu, install Santos 7. I'll tell you another day. Why Santos 7? And why not something else? Then go to a site like Cloudflare, for example. Cloudflare is very important. Many companies use it. There you're going to declare your domain name and Use cloudflare's free DNS service to point your domain to your virtual machine. Once you have pointed, you enter your domain online. Nothing is displayed because your machine simply does not know what to do with the request it received. So you will have to connect to the virtual machine and install, for example, a server. Install ach and from there you will have to develop an HTML page and then put it online. Hi, this is my name, this is my site. It is under construction. To do this work that I am asking you to do, you will at many times get stuck, blocked and you will have to Google, you will have to go to forums, you will have to watch YouTube videos, read PDFs, reading, read the documentation and welcome to the first step to becoming a computer scientist. Because I will tell you something. When you have been working in it for 5, 10, 15, 20 years, no matter how much experience you have, you will have to use the Internet and Google as an extension of your memory. That means you're going to spend most of your time, or at least a good portion of your time, googling and searching. What does an IT professional, even the most experienced in the world, do when they come in the morning and see that, for example, a server has crashed and they open it, they freeze the screen on it and they see error messages. What? What do they do? They go online and look. They go see if there's a Microsoft Team, is there an online community? Is there someone, is there a blogger, is there someone on a forum where other people have come across the same problem and spent an all nighter pulling their hair out and finally fixing the problem? So your job as an IT professional is to develop this skill, this skill that you'll use throughout your career. In reality, you will need to develop this skill of finding information. Because when you go looking for information online, you will find information that sometimes does not apply enough. Information that is incomplete, old, outdated or even false. But over time you will develop the ability to find reliable sources. Reliable sources and know how to search. I invite you to watch videos on how to do advanced searches on Google with pluses, minuses, quotation marks, dates and things like that that will allow you to search like a pro on Google because IT can help you better find the information you are looking for. That's the first exercise. Later on if you want to push it further because you say now I've done it, it's too easy for me. Well, compile PHP on the virtual machine, install a database and the site will become a WordPress site. For example, there you have it the first exercise is over. Second, go to AWS, Amazon.com, go to Azure, from Microsoft, go to GCP, Google Cloud. Open a free account in these three clouds. Now, you are not an IT specialist if you are not proficient or if you are not agile, or if you do not have the ability, or if you do not have a thorough general knowledge of cloud services, because all companies use them to a greater or lesser extent. So go to these services. For example, Amazon AWS and AWS offers you a huge number of services. Services like Route 53 services for installing games, development services, compilation services, DNS services and so on. For the moment, for this exercise, just look at the service called EC2 which lets you create virtual machines, and the S3 service which lets you create storage. Also look at the equivalent services at Azure from Microsoft and Google Cloud. All these three clouds offer you either a free budget to learn or they offer you free resources. Stick to free resources as much as possible. If you want to pay, pay, but please take it easy. I would like to issue a warning at this point for beginners. The machines and services that you see on these systems, well, the problem with them is that they are paid for. They are paid for by the minute or depending on the service. The worst thing you can do is go crazy and open up a bunch of machines. For example, you like EC2 machines? Okay, I create a second, third, fourth. I create 20. I create the biggest ones. When they ask me how much memory I want, well, I say I want a tera of memory. When they ask me how much space I want, well, I want all the discs. I want 56 discs and all that. And then you leave them, you forget about them, you do something else and you go on vacation. You can end up with four or five figure bills at the end of the month. Okay? Be very careful. So take it easy. Use free services, small services, and be very careful. When you no longer need them, you have to close them. Okay? Important. Ideally, if you can take your site that you had on the OVH virtual machine, if you can migrate it. Now I would like you to try a server to server migration. If possible, don't bring the site back to your computer and re upload it. Do it from server to server. Migrate your site from the OVH machine to the EC2 machine at AWS. There you have it. You've touched on migration too. Companies spend most of their time doing migration. Migration is constantly happening within companies. So being able to touch on migrations will only be on a small site. It will already Allow you to see some of the issues, of course. Keep the site online. Don't shut it down today. You're migrating it. Make sure the site stays online, that there are no interruptions. Huh? That will make things a little more complicated. Third exercise, now you go to ovh. You're going to get a server, a dedicated server. This time, get the cheapest one that supports sv. So sg, if you want to put it in French, SG or SG from VMR is absolutely everywhere in the business world. I don't know a company that doesn't have one. So you have to master it because it's something. It's like the one that happens. It's there all the time. All the time, all the time. So what you're going to do is get the smallest or cheapest server from OVH that supports SG. Rent it, by the way, for good measure. Get four, or depending on your budget, four or eight IPv4 addresses with it. There you have it, you have the server, you have H8IP addresses. Now go to vwar.com, create a free account, request a free license for VMR, for ESXi, and give it to you the rank. You put it there, you have your license, which is now not blocked after 90 or 180 days, but will become permanent. That's done. Now what I would like you to do inside this Vermeer is to install virtual machines. So you're going to have to work how? Oh yes, it's work. First connect to the interface. Connect to the interface and spend several days exploring all the features. If you don't understand something, go Google it. Go look for it online. Uh, a small detail. You're often going to have to Google it in English because it is done in English. You're not going to find a French version of vmr. Uh, when you install Linux, also look for a. Don't install a French version. Sometimes you will find French versions, but I advise you not to do so because most of you don't want to receive messages in French, because most developers and all that work in English. So if you find yourself in a niche looking for errors in French, you will be very limited. You will have to get used to working in English. But this is technical English. It's not Shakespearean English or theater English. It's. It's very simple English. So on VMware, install machines, install upload ISOs, you can use WinCP or similar. When you try to connect with WinCP, it won't work. But think about the VMware firewall. Think about the VMware SSH port that you will need to open, but by googling this you will find it. So upload your ISOs and from there install virtual machines that you boot from the ISOs. Give each virtual machine an IP address of the H that you have. Don't forget the Mac address. There is a small detail with the MACR on ovh, but I'll let you explore the OVH forums and you'll understand why the IP address doesn't work. You'll have to declare the Mac address of your VM to OVH in front of the IP address so that it allows you to use it. So once you do that, you have virtual machines running on your server. Now take your site that is on ec2aws and bring it back to your machine on one of the VMware VMs that you have. Once you've done these three exercises, what will you have touched? You will have touched virtual machines, you will have touched VMware, you will have touched Cloudflare, which is a reverse proxy. You will have configured DNS, bought another domain. You will have understood how to put a service online. You will have installed a page, perhaps even a database, maybe even compile your first code using PHP by compiling the PHP on the machine so that it can then be understood by the machine and by the server. So when you do that, you're going to touch on a lot of things. Touch on the network, touch on the cloud. So you're going to see a lot of things through these exercises. And from there, if there's something that you feel more comfortable with than others think about, could be a starting point for something that goes further. There you have it, my friends. I'll leave you here with these three exercises and then if you get stuck, well, leave a comment. Maybe I or someone else can give you a little tip, a link or something else if you get stuck somewhere. And then we'll see you soon in another video, either on this topic or on another one, depending on the questions that come up. See you soon.
