This is a YouTube video titled "Ces horribles manies d’automobilistes" created on July 9, 2019, featuring a monologue-style commentary by a single speaker discussing various frustrating and dangerous driving behaviors observed on the road. The speaker shares personal anecdotes and reflections about other drivers' habits, traffic situations, and road safety issues. The content is a personal narrative rather than a conversation.
Hello, my friends. So I came. I didn't know. You know, there are days like that. There are days when it's not that I don't know what I'm going to say, but I have so many ideas rushing through my head that I have trouble finding a thread. I have trouble getting a thread out. So, you know, there's one thing I hate about drivers. I'll tell you right away, people are a bit of a handful. For example, earlier I was at a red light and the guy in front of me turned green. Honestly, he took 10 seconds to move. You get the feeling that he doesn't want to be there. I mean, if you have a 10 second reaction time at a light, okay, what would you do if someone rear ended you on a highway or something? You have to give them 10 seconds notice. There's also something I don't like about drivers. Like the guy, he wants to turn right and the guy, I don't know, he's in a C1 or a Micra or something, he wants to turn right, okay? He's going to do this right, okay? He does something, the car takes off completely. So I'm driving and then suddenly the guy in the right lane practically hits me in the face. I have to brake. And then he finally turns right, okay? It's a bit like he's driving a semi trailer. You know, that's what I call the semi trailer effect. There's also another thing I hate. Ah. There's a really sharp slowdown. The vehicles are moving at a walking pace or even stopped. And then traffic starts up and you have guys who have fun doing that, not leaving. Like, the car in front of him is already 100 meters away, okay? And he's still there. So if you ask him the question, he'll say, yeah, but it's slowed down anyway. Where am I going to go? Quote, what these people don't understand is that if every vehicle left in a traffic jam leaves 50 meters in front of it, it only takes 20 vehicles to do that for the line to lengthen by a kilometer. What does that mean? It means that maybe 1km behind there are people who are at a crossroads. The light turns green, but they can't move forward. Okay? Or people who are stuck at a crossroads, they can't even move forward at all. Why? Because the people in front. Well, yes, I don't know where to go, so I'm blocking the traffic. You see things like that that I hate in drivers. Or it happened to me a few days ago, I was on a national road the speed limit on that road was around 100 kilometers per hour, to give you an idea, 100 kilometers per hour. The guy was driving at between 60 and 70, you know, and he was driving at three quarters of the legal speed. The weather was nice, the road was wide, bright daylight and all that. No reason except that he. Well, he was driving very slowly and because some people think it's safer, don't you think, to drive like that at half the legal speed. I was right behind him and I was getting impatient. I looked in the rearview mirror, I saw there was a line of cars behind him. There was a huge procession of people waiting for the gentleman to do his bidding. And then it's bends, bends, bends, big bends, very slow bends. And. And I couldn't overtake him. And at one point a straight line comes up. It's an 800 meter straight line that comes up. And it's the only straight line in this region. I tell myself it's now or never. What do I do? I look, I clear the road. There's no one there, right? And then I start to overtake gently, without being brutal. A car is coming from a distance, but I know I'll be able to pass my friends. Just imagine that when I reach the same level as him, I see the distance that they're no longer making. That means I should normally start to overtake him. And suddenly I see that I'm not overtaking him anymore. The guy was speeding up. That's the kind of. That's the kind of thing that makes you lose your morals. There you go. He, you have a BMW, you want to drive faster. I'm going to show you that what you're doing is dangerous. And to show you that it's dangerous, I'm going to cause an accident. So you can see, okay? The car in front was coming, okay. It was still far away, but the distance was closing. I had no choice. I couldn't brake and get in because the guy behind me was also getting ready to overtake. So. So he accelerated. He took my place when I got there. What was I going to do? Go into the scenery. Okay. And that's very. It's quite common that they do that in England, actually. So what did I do? I had to put the accelerator to the floor. It had a catapult effect. Ah. I found myself at weight 85 a ph. That means. Yeah, I was practically at 140 kilometers per hour on a national group. Okay, 140 kilometers per hour on the national group at the moment I saw it. Huh. And I saw it when I was slowing down, okay? That was the only way for me to get out of it. It's because I couldn't know how much he accelerated, but I know he accelerated a lot. So the only way to do it was to floor the accelerator to get out of it quickly. I left. I came back. Weird things they do to me. Another one here in England never shows that you're interested in a parking space. Let me give you an example. I arrived at a restaurant once. Some friends invited me to the restaurant. They said to me, yes, we're at the restaurant. Come join us. I arrived to join them. The restaurant had a small parking lot, maybe 30 or 40 cars that were packed. There was a guy who was about to leave. My eyes met his, so I stopped, okay? I stopped and waited for the man to get in the car, close the door, put on his seatbelt, and then he didn't move. He stayed there. He stayed, he stayed, he stayed, he stayed. I can tell you that five or six minutes later, he was still there. And this is very common here. Some people, when they see that you want a parking space that he has, uh, I don't know, is this a way of claiming some ownership of this public parking space or something? So he stayed there. What did I do? I sent a message to my friends telling them I'm not coming. And I left. I went back. And I can assure you that I'm almost certain that I hadn't gone 200 meters before he was already out. In fact, today, I don't know what I'm doing. I pretend not to have seen them. I'm just passing by. I see that a guy is leaving a parking space. I really have to be careful that he doesn't notice my interest in the Russians place in Sue. And then I come back. I keep myself in check. By the time he leaves, I'm too late. But it's an extremely detestable habit that I've noticed when I want to leave. I'm getting to my car, I see someone looking, I wave to them. I get in my car, I close the door. And I can tell you, sometimes I don't even put on my seatbelt. I close my door, I press start. That practically means the moment I close the door and the moment the car starts. Sometimes 2 seconds pass just to give him space to relieve someone else. You know, things like that. I do things like that all the time in stupid things. Like, a few days ago, I was at a big roundabout. There are a lot of them here in England. Roundabouts It's a big roundabout. And then one of the exits leads to a motorway. So it's quite a big roundabout, isn't it? And there's a guy, he misses the exit for the motorway. So in a roundabout, a roundabout is a circle, right? It's a circle. It means if you turn right, it's not the size of the Paris Ring Road either, right? It's a roundabout to go all the way around. It's 300 meters, 250 meters. I mean, what does the guy do? He brakes, he puts the car in reverse and he starts to come back. So here's a roundabout of three voices and a car in the middle, reversing. Ah, I'm driving. I see the guy in front of me swerve the wheel. I do exactly the same thing. I don't even wonder why. I see the guy leave. I do that. No one. I leave. And in fact, it was just in time. I look behind me and I see people avoiding him. It's amazing when all I could have done was just keep going around. And then there are also people blocking you. Okay, I want to change my voice. I want to go back. I always do that. Someone wants to change their voice. Sign of the farms, sign of the guy. To make things quiet. We have a lot of people in this country who. The moment they see that you want to go back, what do they do? They suddenly accelerate. They close you in like that. So there you go. Like, I don't understand why people do that. Why do drivers do that kind of thing? It's beyond me. So today to get in, huh? If I also pass, I pretend I look, he's there. He didn't see me. Okay, easy. I'll go in. He's a customer. He's accelerating quickly. Bam. He doesn't even have time to understand. I'm already here, okay? There's a guy once, he didn't let me pass. He blocked me on purpose. I wanted to get in behind him. In fact, I wanted to get in front of him. He didn't let me block. He blocks me. He blocks me. We get to the red light, okay? The red light blocks us. H. And I do this. I put CL on the left, huh? So that he can see clearly, okay? He. So that he can see it very clearly. And then, well, the light went on. What the hell is he doing again? Our driver. Okay, I'll say he didn't even have time. He was already starting to disengage the clutch, and I was already 200 meters ahead of him. But, hey, I don't like this kind of method. I don't like resorting to this kind of method. Well, I'm not talking about those who don't turn on their headlights even though it's dark. I'm not talking about drivers who. For example, the other day there was a guy in front of me, the car slowed down, there was nothing behind, no lights came on, no brake lights. And in fact, he didn't have any brake lights that worked. That, my friends, is normally a no, no. That's normally part of a breakdown. If you don't go out that day, it's over. How much does a light cost? It costs €2. €2? A light. On eBay, you can get it for 50 cents. There are people, you know who drive and there's no brake light behind them. That means that on a highway or somewhere else, one day they're going to hit a semi trailer, like a tgv, head on. Because the guy didn't even understand. Because as a driver, your important indication that the person in front of you is braking is the brake lights on old cars, there were two. Following a European Union law, three are now required. There are about 300 of them. That means that when you see the distance closing rapidly. Yeah, it's already too late. You have to brake really hard yourself. And the guy behind you doesn't have much time to react either. Anyway, what did I want to tell you? I'm a little disgusted by drivers these days. I just wanted to tell you that. There you go, my friends. I'll leave you and come back another day.
