Je suis au même poste, même salaire depuis 4 ans

If you've been stuck in the same role and salary for years, your employer isn't meeting basic reciprocity. The speaker warns that stagnation damages your CV and future employability. When peers advance and you don't, it's time to leave and use your network elsewhere.
Hello, friends. Someone wrote to me to say, yes, I work for a company. My manager doesn't like me, all that. And I've been doing the same job for four years. I have the same title, I have the same salary. And now I feel stuck, I feel blocked. What do I do? So, my friends, I would like to tell you something. It is very important when you are in a company. It is very important that there is give and take. That means we give them work time. We sacrifice a lot of things, right, for the company. But in return, the company must also give us things. These things beyond the salary, of course, the salary. I mean, the salary is what makes us not slaves. The salary is a fundamental human right, literally that we work in a company. So that is the basics, that is the minimum, that is the salary. But beyond the salary, the. There must be something else, another thing. There must be a progression. If you are putting in. If you have been in a company for two years, 18 months, two years, and there has been no conversation about your progression, there has not been no salary increases, no career plan discussions within the company, and you're still in the same place, that's when you should start to worry. If after four years, you're still in the same place, my friends, things are going badly because what you're risking is destroying your career. Especially in sectors that are constantly evolving. That is to say, sometimes you're in a sector, you're doing a job, it's always the same. I mean, you're driving construction equipment, for example, you're going to drive the same construction equipment for years. I understand. Now, if you work, let's say, in companies like technology or others, where there are developments, it's a sort of conveyor belt that moves slowly. But normally as you go along, you have to, you have to advance at the same time as your. Your group, right? That your. Your fathers, what we call your fathers, are people who are your age, people who have your background, people who are in the same class as you or your age group, if you wish, you have to gradually evolve. If you get stuck, you are first losing money, because the further you go, the more you earn. So now you are losing money. It is as if every year you are giving money to the company to stay with them. And also the problem is that you are gradually destroying your cv. That is to say that later on in, if you stay in a company for six or seven years and then you send your CV because there is a redundancy plan, or because it is closing, or because you are fed up and you have to leave. When you send a CV elsewhere, the recruiter will look at it and say it's 2024. He will look and see that you were recruited in 2017 as a 2024, you're exactly in the same place. Sometimes. Sometimes the recruiter might think that you're no good, that the recruiter might think that. Why are you stuck there in this company already? And then why didn't you try to go somewhere else? If it was the company's fault, putting that, he's going to think like that, okay, if this company is bad and it didn't help him develop, it didn't allow him to progress in his career, why didn't he look for another one? It's probably because he was too bad. It's probably because he couldn't find another job elsewhere. Why didn't the company help him develop? The company didn't help him develop because he was bad, because he wasn't performing well. There you go. So we don't want that either. You can create this kind of perspective on your resume. So if you see that you're in a toxic company, you. You have a manager who doesn't like you, a company where people come after you and develop, it's going to. You have to start seriously thinking about it, looking elsewhere. Now, unfortunately, the problem is that it's not always your fault, right? If you don't progress, it's not always your fault. Because very often it happens, let's say, for worse and worse. In a company, there are many things that are defined in a precise and specific way. For example, if you're in a company that sells cars, a customer comes in to buy a car, there's a whole process. We know how we're going to deliver it to them, we know what they're going to pay, we know everything, what warranty we're going to offer them, what documents they need to fill out, and everything else, everything is codified in a very precise way. Same thing in an airline that sells plane tickets. All of this is very codified for recruiting, it's codified for firing, it's codified for progress. There's no codification. So promotion within companies is like smoking inside a prison. You know, when you visit a prisoner, even if they don't smoke, many prisoners ask for cigarettes. Why? Because they only use them as a means of exchange. They become a currency. They have boxes or cartons or whatever. They distribute them according to what they want to get. The problem with promotions within a company is the same because they become a Means of exchange. There's a market for them. So if someone advances, it's because someone said you should advance. It's someone above you. It's your boss. There's his grandmother sleeping next to him. She's closed her eyes. It's 11pm he writes to me to tell me, yes, there's a role that's opening up. And he can see that she'll be there. He can see that he wants to push her into this role. Right? You see the thing? It's a bargaining chip, right? Just so you can talk to her from your bed at 3am or 11pm or whatever. Okay? There's a bargaining chip. And you don't evolve just because someone said so. If someone says no, that person won't evolve, or that person won't evolve because they're not part of my clique, they're not part of my group. I have no interest in giving more power, more influence, more visibility to that person. You'll stay in your corner. And you, and you, and you. And you see it right? You are. I don't know. For example, there are lots of people who tell me, I'm in a meeting. I want to talk about a project that I succeeded in something. I saved a client who wanted to leave, I saved a contract. I managed to get back on track. A project that was going down the drain or off the rails, or what? I want to talk about this in a meeting. And my manager, at least N2, has noticed me there. Can we talk about it later in private? Okay, we'll keep it offline. Okay, thank you. Silence. Why? Because we don't want this person's successes to be visible. And then we're going to spend a quarter of an hour. I almost said a bad word about a bv, but let's say bhav, it's much more. It goes down a bit better drooling over a colleague, for example, who managed to fix a problem with a photocopier. You see, the photocopier paper was stuck in it. Did he unblock it? And then we're going to applaud him for hours, you know, because we want to make his achievements visible. So that's what's important. Don't be. Don't be loyal to the company, to your detriment. Now, if you look at yourself as you're sliding towards retirement, you're going to say, okay, I have two or three years of my career left, I don't care. I'm going to retire and then leave. Okay, in that case, you don't care. But if you're at the beginning of your career, mid career, and you've been in the same place for several years and there's been no change in title, no, no change in salary, no change in scope of responsibility, all that, it's because frankly, you're wasting your time. You're wasting your time. You're giving pearls to the pig. You're really going to have to get moving and leave. I'll tell you something, companies. I keep telling you this and I explain it in my book Toxic. I'm writing another book on the same subject. Well, I'm relatively early on, so it will be ready when it's ready. But it's a little more politicized, let's say this one isn't politicized, but you can find the company values on Amazon if you want. What we call the values are constantly reversed. It's always an upside down cross. Business doesn't operate according to your morality, according to your vision of good and evil. If you're an upright person, if you come from a good family, your father worked, your mother worked, they taught you good and bad morality. Saying hello to the lady, all that will work against you in a business. Why? Because the values are completely reversed. For example, you might instinctively think that if you're loyal to a company, it's good, right? Because generally in everyday life, in everyday morality, being loyal to people, being loyal in friendship, being loyal in relationships, well, generally it's well perceived and generally it's returned in kind. That's not true in business. Business rewards infidelity. It's as if you were married, for example, to a woman or someone else. And that woman, if she sees that you, you have a mistress, she's very happy and all that. And then, and then it's there, it's joy and good humor, she congratulates you and then she finds another mistress, she's even happier and all that. It doesn't happen in real life like that, but in business it's exactly like I'm telling you. It's quite incredible, but I'm going to open your eyes to it. It's a really important message. I'm going to make you open your eyes to this. When you compare a class A group your see that people who have changed companies several times after 10 years. Take, take 10 years. One guy has changed three or four times in another, he stays in the Same company for 10 years, you'll systematically see. You can find exceptions, of course, but don't get hung up on it. In the vast Majority of cases, you'll find that people who have changed companies regularly, it means that they have been unfaithful to their company, have, have evolved. They have evolved in title, they have evolved in salary, they have evolved in everything. And those who have stayed in the Same company for 10 years have stagnated. They have stayed in the same place and have not moved. It is very rare that you will find exceptions. It is very, very rare that you will find the opposite. So do not be loyal to the company. The company. When you leave and you take the expertise with you, you take the names of the clients with you, even if you are not going to give them directly to the competition. But we understand each other. You have your relationships. You are going to start calling old clients. Hey, yeah, I moved. I am here. Super cool. You see, we will meet tomorrow for a coffee and all that. Yes, you know, we have a portfolio there, you know. Okay, that's it. I sold you this last year, but this year I'm on something a little more solid, you know, do not renew with the others. Come to me, I'll make you a good deal and all that. That's how it works. And you, with your morals, you feel like what I'm telling you is something bad. But no, this is good because companies pay very well for this. They pay for their attitudes, they pay for this way of operating. Don't tell me why, I don't know. They're playing against their interests, right? Have you ever seen a company celebrate someone who stays? They always celebrate people who leave. Companies celebrate people who leave. When someone makes the right decision to go to the competition and takes with them the know how and the list of customers and the list of products and the list of defects and all that, they celebrate them because they did the right thing. Okay? So be very careful. That's it, my friends. I'll stop there for this video. But always move, move, move. Don't trust your company. And if you see that in particular there there's something important, if you see that people have come after you are evolving. Seriously. Sometimes there are companies where no one moves. They're static companies, companies where you're not there to make a career. You do your job, take your salary at the end of the month and go home. Companies that are like that and everyone is like that, everyone is in the same boat. But if you're in a company and you see that others are evolving and not you, just leave before it's too late. Okay, thank you, my friends, for listening. Until the next one.
